Rate this book
Maisy Lewis has grown up living in the shadows of her famous brother. At eighteen-years-old she’s a dedicated gymnast who has spent every moment she can training to be perfect. Unintentionally, she’s allowed the sport to take over her life, much like her brother did with acting when he was her age. With no time for anything or anyone else, she’s starting to wonder if her planned out future is worth it anymore.

Without gymnastics, who is Maisy Lewis? The answer isn’t as easy as it should be, and she can’t help but feel as if her entire childhood has been wasted. But then she meets August.

While driving home on a snowy afternoon, Maisy runs into this mysterious boy and is abruptly thrown into his secretive world. Not only does she feel pulled toward him but as time passes, she realizes August might not be the stranger she initially thought he was.

August has secrets. August has a past he doesn’t want to talk about, a past that involves people Maisy loves. The closer the two of them become, the more Maisy begins to understand just how much she’s missed all these years. What will happen when all of August’s past finally becomes unveiled to her? And most importantly … what will Maisy do with her life once it does?

Part 2/2

4 🪿❄️🦌💘s❣️

I enjoyed the first part, yet the second touched my heart so much more.
“True. So very, very true.”

While the pattern was relatively similar to the previous one, Maisy and August’s story had stronger emotional moments.

Some might think their love was rushed, but it was built beautifully well!
Hazel and Killian (from the previous part) had a driven and purposeful role in this story and I was so happy to meet them again.

Maisy and August’s journey cannot be read as a standalone, as it is interconnected with the first book.

This was a wonderful duet, very well written and developed and I loved the ‘years later’ epilogues.

“Sometimes you have to write your own story to make sure the ending is exactly what you want”

Well, we loved ‘Her Name is Hazel’ and thought we couldn’t possibly love ‘His Name is August’ more. How wrong were we! August and Maisy’s story is truly perfection! This duet embodies every aspect of why we love reading as much as we do. Magnificent writing, characters that have such depth and connection they steal our hearts. Soulmate love. A storyline that grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and didn’t let go until we’d turned that last page. ‘His Name is August’ is quite simply beautiful, and now we will always treasure these two books for how they made us feel. Killian and Hazel and now August and Maisy are truly forever!

“I’m not a single delicate flower, August. I’m an entire field of flowers, and if you accidentally crush a few, there are a hundred more that will still be standing.”

What an absolute rollercoaster of an emotional ride this story was for us. We felt everything, with on-and-off tears in our eyes. This duet can certainly be read as standalones, however, what an immense journey it is to read them together as whilst this is August and Maisy’s story, Killian and Hazel feature heavily and we get to experience the impact of their interwoven relationships. Harrowing, poignant, tragic, breathtaking and inspirational, this story will truly steal your heart, your soul and your tears.

“One more fact?” he whispers. “I’m in love with you, Maisy. True or false?”
My eyes open. “True. So very true.”

While I loved “Her Name is Hazel,” this book really brought it all together and made me fall back in love with all of the characters once again. Davis has a beautiful talent for developing characters that the reader falls in love with, over and over again. I felt like I was part of Maisy and August’s world and my heart broke a thousand times reading this story. While I was happy to find resolution, I also did not want the story to end as I knew that meant saying goodbye.
I hope to read more from this author, not only because it is fun to read about places ten minutes from home, but also, because she has a raw talent that I hope continues to be discovered by those deeper in the industry.

After sitting on this it finally hit me. This is reminded me a lot of / is comparable to John Green- Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska…

Love love love this series!! I read HER NAME IS HAZEL a bit ago because the cover caught my attention. Finally read book 2 and, I can’t explain how much I love these books. It reminds me that there are good people in this world. It’s a feel good out of a no good situation.

I love books that tie people into the story and these do exactly that. August, sweet August. Always looking out for everyone except himself. ❤️❤️❤️

*Must read Her Name Is Hazel first.

I loved this story! I started reading it, but put it down about a 1/3 of the way in. I finally picked it back up this week to finish it. It was a beautiful story filled with love, family, and heartbreak (and how to mend a heartbreak). I wish there was another book in this duology so I can continue to read about this family.

This is the second book in 𝘏𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘶𝘦𝘵, and can be read as a standalone, but would be much more impactful if 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘏𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘭 is read first.

I’ve been in a reading slump lately. I LOVED 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘕𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘏𝘢𝘻𝘦𝘭 so thought I’d give this a try, and I am SOOOO glad I did! I wasn’t sure if I’d connect the same way with August as I had with Hazel, but I did. I found myself equally connected and if anything more protective of him. As a boy mom, his story broke my heart, as I could imagine my so sons. I wanted to hug August countless times throughout his story, and am so glad he had the people he did.

Not only did I love August, but I also loved Maisy too. She was so walled off to everything and everyone who wasn’t her family, her one friend, and gymnastics. Seeing how she not only impacted August positively, he equally impacted her. Their story is beautiful, because it shows us that nothing is perfect, but love is worth fighting for.

“Sometimes you have to write your own story to make sure the ending is exactly what you want.”

I absolutely loved My Name is Hazel so I jumped straight into this one without reading any blurb or reviews so I didn’t know what the link was going to be between August and Hazel or Killian.

August is the sweetest guy who has had a rough couple of years. It’s really difficult with books like this to word a review in such a way that you don’t spoil the plot.

Maisy Lewis is the gymnastic loving, little sister of Killian. She literally bumps into August and it’s like they were always destined to be in each other’s lives.

There’s lots of parallels with Hazel and Killian’s story. A found family. People who selflessly help others. The writing of their own story.

It was a really enjoyable read.

“You’re the hope I never knew was there.”

I have to grumble about one thing, I think someone told the author that they should avoid, ‘he said, she said’ because readers don’t like it. I would have much preferred he said, she said than the annoying repetition of ‘he/she make known’ (18 times). It made my eyes roll.

If you've read "Her Name Is Hazel" & it's a MUST before you read this to get the full back story, this book is a wonderful extension. Many of the favorite characters return and continue being a support system to Hazel, Killian, his sister Maisy but especially to new character August.

August has had a tough time yet never loses his thoughtful soul or kindness towards others. The trouble is that he doesn't believe he's worthy of the same treatment & it's just heartbreaking to read about his inner struggles. In true form, the close knit community that we've become to know & love, refuse to give up on him.

There is a new love story here between Maisy & August & their journey isn't an easy one. Bit by bit, secrets unfold leaving Maisy wondering why August & her family kept so much information from her.

I loved this story & felt anxious knowing it was coming to an end. A beautiful & heartwarming story.

I fell in love with this book. I already loved Hazel and Killian, and I loved Maisy when she was in their story. But seeing her now at 18 was totally different than when she was little! The way Sarah Forester Davis was able to take the traumatic story of Hazel and Killian and weave it into this new story with August and Maisy was brilliant. You got the same characters as you did before, but a completely different story that threw you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I don't know how she does this, but I found myself going back and realizing how many small hints she left throughout each chapter, that all made sense at the end. BRAVO!!!!!

Do you believe we make our own fate?

This book tells the take of so many imperfect people who come together to make the perfect large functional and loving family they are. They bring their imperfections together in a cohesive blending of support, love, accountability, and affection for one another that makes them stronger and more effective as a unit than as individuals. You don't have to have read the first bok about Hazel to enjoy this one, but it brings the background story to life and adds depth to this one. It makes me believe a little more in the inner goodness of others.

I am a HUGE Sarah Forester Davis fan. I've read all her books and have loved each one!!! But this one is my new favorite for sure. The way you got to see Killian and Hazel again and how they were so involved throughout the entire book, and the story behind August and his past and how Maisy was literally meant to be in his life. It was beautiful. The whole story was beautiful and checked off all my emotions. I cried at the end so be warned it will bring on some tears!!!! Can we have a book with Junie now?!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series (“Her Name Is Hazel”). But this one blew me away! The character development is fantastic and just makes you fall in love- and I mean with each and every character (except for maybe Jeff and August’s dad 😬).
It’s a few good story, and although predictable for the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I would love to see a third book come out in this series as I can’t get enough of this cast. Bravo! 👏🏻

Oh wow I where shall I start?

So last year I read Her Name is Hazel and was blown away by the story. I knew the minute the second book was out I would devour it!

His Name is August is beautiful. It’s a book that gets to your soul and revisits some of the characters from the previous book. Yet they don’t over shadow the story at all.

This one is the story of August and Maisy. ❤️

Loved this series. The characters are just *chef’s kiss* 🤌🏼 😘. The story line held my attention and left me wanting more. I loved how foster/adoption was a large focus of this story. How the characters all connected was such a nice touch. Some events kept you guessing and trying to figure out how it was all going to end. Loved the ending!

This book brought light to mental health, both Maisy and August’s. It made me sad that August felt so alone and that he wasn’t worthy of love or to be taken care of. And Maisy pushing herself to the point of exhaustion for a sport she wasn’t even sure she love anymore. Their pure magnetizing love for each other was undeniable. I am glad he was able to get the help he needed.

Very good read. I think I enjoyed it more than the first simply because of the involvement of the main characters from the first book. The story was solid and heartfelt, predictable, but still 5 stars!

This book tugged on my heartstrings. It made me laugh, cry, and I didn’t want to book to end. The way it was written made an amazing connection between characters. But as the author says, there are some things in the book that might open closed wounds.

a great sequel

This book could go as a stand alone instead of the sequel to her name is Hazel. Great read, well written.
