A Werewolf for Christmas

Rate this book
Not a good man, but a good husband.

At least, that's how I think of myself. It doesn't matter that Casey isn't my wife yet—I'm going to do anything it takes to ensure a future where I can have her by my side forever.

The problem? Casey thinks I’m just a nice guy she met at the gym four years ago. She doesn’t know I’m a two thousand year old werewolf enforcer, specially bred and raised to be a soldier. And I’m not going to tell her until I can offer til death do us part and mean it.

So I made a deal.

I’ve traded eternal loyalty to an old ally in exchange for one he has to help me find a way to make Casey immortal.

And now, he offers me my opportunity. The man who created me has been located, and if I can catch him and get the information from him, then I’ll know the secret to the spell that makes shifters like us. I would be able to promise Casey forever.

The problem? It’s Christmas.

And Casey has invited her awful family to try to mend bridges with them. We’re supposed to be preparing for a Christmas Eve dinner party, but I have a very limited amount of time to unlock the key to my entire future.

I need Casey. I need to make her mine forever.Warnings for violence, blood, injury, death, fighting, verbally and emotionally abusive family members, past memories of torture and physical abuse of children, and a character who experiences an anxiety disorder. This book has several sexual scenes and is 18+.

This is a short story that I really liked and would read again. I also became interested in other characters that were mentioned and would read their story if it came out (I did not see Luc's' story). For me those are the key points - Did I like it? Am I going to re-read it? Would I read other books by the author or the books of the other characters? All those get a yes from me.

I was in the mood to read a shorter story (should have been trying to get sleep but that wasn't happening)

I saw the snippet for this story and was interested but the description just seemed like there was too much going on for a book of 132 pages so I put it on my list and came back to it yesterday.

This was the first book I read from this author.

I read it and enjoyed from the very beginning I mean the opening was A+.

The descriptions of the characters were vague, it is not the first book I have read like this and I have to say I enjoyed that. I was never a stickler or kept an image of a person in my mind and this just keeps me in the feeling of their character (if that makes sense)

I liked both Casey and Max by themselves and as a couple.

I really liked that the start of the book they were already a couple, that was probably a first for me and it worked really well.

It seems weird to me to write that this story was very heartwarming but I think it was for me (see in no way am I a writer LOL)

I related to Casey and think there are topics that anyone can be like Casey with and having a Max is what everybody deserves. I wish I could be as important to someone as Casey is to Max and that I could be someone's Max.

Max is the type of guy who appreciates what he has and is all about giving and taking care of his girl. It came across in such a way that I almost felt like I was getting the love myself - silly of me but I was smiling throughout this book.

The story was entertaining and an easy read, my fears of too many things going on were unfounded.

If anyone is looking for a shorter story where the guy is all about taking care of, showing his love, appreciating and protecting his girl, a woman that I liked as a reader I would give this book a chance.

Received this book as an ARC! Thank you :)

This was a nice quick read! Told in Max's POV.

Fav Quote- If she needs me to bury some bodies, then I can do that too.

Max is a werewolf, and is basically a killing machine for his boss. Who doesn't love that? He's on a mission to find a way to make Casey immortal, so they can be together forever! How romantic!

'I wake Casey up with my head between her thighs'
The book starts with a spicy scene. I do enjoy some spice! ;) The part about not being bothered by morning breathe... I don't resonate with that HAHA! I NEED to brush my teeth before kissing in the morning!

I love how much Max loves Casey, BUT he was too mushy gushy for me. Paragraphs of him ranting on how much he loves her...not my cup of tea. Even so, they are great together! Their chemistry is perfect!

Very happy when Max stood up for her at the table scene. Ugh, loved it! And good for you Casey finding your strength!

I had a hard time with Casey in the beginning because of her anxiety issues. I, of all people, understand that feeling of anxiety. But sometimes her fear..... It made me question why Max loves her so much. What made him fall for a human with so much anxiety? Just my thoughts.

'Casey likes to make human soup out of herself'
YES! I love hot water! The hotter the better! The spice in the tub scene was delicious!

Altogether, I enjoyed this book. It was a nice, quick read with a sprinkle of spice and murder!

Don't let the heavy-ish warnings scare you; this isn't a dark romance. If you like guys who are secretly cinnamon rolls and puppy-love obsessed, then you'll like Max. He thinks Casey walks on water, and as a person with anxiety, I love that he takes her anxiety in stride and supports her through it. (I also think it's really interesting how the author talks about Max giving more support for her anxiety than Casey actually needs, because honestly? Couple goals to have him so obsessed and wanting to support you).

The plot is really simple and straightforward, and this is definitely a quick read novella. If you're looking for a complicated plot this maybe isn't for you, but if you came here for the quick, sweet and spicy romance holiday-themed palate cleanser, then you'll definitely love this. Max wants to be able to make Casey immortal and won't marry her until he can, so he spends half the novella hunting down the secret of immortality and half dealing with more normal human problems at home with Casey. Like I said, super simple, but their relationship and how much he adores her really is the shining star.

Would love to see more of these two, maybe in a longer work, maybe a couple of years later.

I received a free ARC copy of this book is exchange for an honest review.

DNF - quit at 32%
I don’t know where to begin with this review. I needed more world building, not snippets thrown in randomly -to give me a solid base. I felt like I missed a prequel or that this sprang from another series. I didn’t care enough to check into that theory. I also felt that the MMC was too wishy washy. One minute he’s a tough killer for his boss, the next he’s a complete wimp over his girlfriend. It didn’t balance well. Then there’s the question, how will she react when she finds out his true self is a killer/thug. If she’s not still into a killer, then everything could end badly for his actions. I just couldn’t get into the whiplash of his personality to care to continue. Not sure I’d want to read more from this author.

At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Very fast paced story that kind of made me wish it was longer x
I felt a little let down with not getting to really known the characters & their backstories - its spoken about but not elaborated on x
The story for me felt surrounded around the 2 main characters - Max & Casey - but there isn't much else out with the 2 of them x
I gave four stars because i didnt feel like the story had a good flow & the content provided felt like a nice little opener xxxxxx

This was a short, sweet & spicy Christmas novella.

Well I didn’t expect it to open with some saucy saucy time lol but I mean who doesn’t mind when you know that’s why this book entails?! It opens with spice wand ends with spice & yes there’s plot in between.
It’s not plot heavy but it wouldn’t be with a shorter story. This was a good time & just what I was looking for.

It definitely is 18+ and did I go on to read the next book- yes I most definitely did :)

An Amazing Shifter x Human Romance

Found this book as an arc on Instagram, didn’t realize I’d missed the release date. Holy crap, this book is amazing. Like 10/10 cannot recommend enough. Max is the best of the best, and there’s nothing I love more than abusive family members getting their rear ends handed to them.

Please read the content notes before deciding to read this book. I loved this book about two people that love and try to support each other. Yep, there is violence and triggers galore but their feelings are what kept me reading.
