Held captive in chains with only my memory to keep me occupied, even though I had no memory of how I got there, or who took me. The one thing I held on to that kept repeating in my head was, “He will come for me. He always comes for me.” Then, after what my mind believed to be months, I was finally rescued; by the boy I had a crush on at Brighton Academy.
Phoenix Stone. Who is ALL man now and my father’s enemy.
Now, I’ve traded chains for walls. His words say I am a prisoner, but his actions don’t. I soon learn I am not his captive in this war between my father and him; but his property. He says he did it to rescue me. To protect me from evils I couldn’t understand. As secrets unwind, and my memories return, I begin to wonder…
Did I fall in love with my knight in shining armor or the devil himself?
Nicole Abrams is best known for her debut contemporary romance novel, Finding Caroline. Always an avid reader, she eventually started journaling and writing short stories, which led to the creation of her first book. Nicole is a breast cancer survivor, beating her diagnosis in 2021 after undergoing surgery and radiation. She has an unhealthy obsession with the TV show Friends and when she is not writing you can find her spending time with the man of her dreams and their son.
i feel like i just read a wattpad book that shouldn’t have been published. the plot had potential but i just couldn’t handle the way it was written. the fmc was way to calm with what was happening to her but then at moments when she’d remember her past, she’d like freak out and overreact imo. now i’ve never had amnesia so i don’t know what it’s like, but from my understanding it ain’t like this. tiktok mislead me and i may never trust again
3.5 wtf was that and why was I so hooked on it? I’m shook and seriously appalled because I am absolutely reading book 2. I don’t think I even liked it. My face had this contorted wtf am I reading kind of expression on it. How did I even hear about this? It’s the mystery. Gotta know what’s going on and why.
This was my first Nicole Abrams read and it didn’t disappoint! I stayed up so late reading this book cause I couldn’t stop! 😆
Right from the start I was hooked and couldn’t wait to find out what happened. I love an enemies to lovers trope and quickly loved Phoenix and McKenzie but were they a true enemies to lovers if it was due to their family issues?! They had googly eyes for each other before the auction! 😍
McKenzie is trying to figure out what happened over the past three years after being kidnapped and Phoenix is giving her time she needs but then is also frustrating to me cause he isn’t being as open as he could be. 😆 It def adds to the suspense of the book and I love when they come together and Phoenix is so sweet to her. It’s what she needs as she gains back her memory.
The book spice is 3.5-4 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and I love the slow burn and how much Phoenix is so into McKenzie and just wants to protect her but then has a dominant side she found out she loves. 🥵 He is all serious business in his dealings but then can be a teddy bear. I want his POV so bad on why he avoided her for two months even though he was so into her! 🤦♀️
Can’t wait for book two!

at first i fucked with this book heavy. kinda reminded me of manacled and the auction (both dramione fanfics). but then i stopped fucking w it, because seriously what the fuck.
mckenzie is kidnapped and phoenix rescues her but she has amnesia and doesn’t remember the past three years, and thus doesn’t remember that phoenix is her husband. her memories start coming back and turns out that phoenix bought her at an auction that her father sold her at, and plot twist he did it for revenge because apparently mckenzies dad stole phoenix’s mom and sold her at an auction??? the book ends of a cliff hanger after mckenzie runs away and phoenix vows to find her OR WHATEVER.
this book got so messy and i feel like the author just threw in whatever problem she could come up with, but that was so unnecessary because the plot was there at the beginning! (we quickly lost the plot)
also id like to note that phoenix has a dick piercing that he got while mckenzie was kidnapped as a distraction🫤

Holy moly what can I say about this incredible book besides Nicole has done it again and left me utterly speechless this story was amazing suspenseful, thrilling, mysterious, steamy, sweet and tender a real rollercoaster that I didn’t want to put down as it left me on the edge of my seat. I can say without question I immediately need book 2 Nicole because that ending left me speechless
Wow!! This book!! It’s the start to an amazing series! I read it in under a day. Definitely worth picking up and reading if you like any of the following:
-Kidnapping -Secret Society -Morally Gray MMC -Possessiveness -Amnesia -Asphyxiation -Touch her and die
McKenzie “Kenzie” is the FMC and Phoenix “Nix” is the MMC.
It starts off with gaining your attention quickly because he’s rescuing her from being held captive. During her capture she developed trauma induced Amnesia, and throughout the book she begins to gain her memories back, with Nix by her side helping her.
Fairly quickly she realizes they’re married, but she doesn’t know the full extent of how that came to be.
We find out they’re a part of a secret society and they have set out to take it down from the inside.
Toward the end she had gained memories back.. but not enough to know what they truly meant. But Phoenix will come for her.. he always comes.
This is a new author for me and I’m so happy I signed up for this ARC because I’m obsessed. Such a captivating storyline that keeps you wanting more and wanting to see what’s going to happen. This journey is full of suspense and it was written so brilliantly. She captures everything so well! From the get go, I was hooked.
We follow McKenzie (Kenzie) who is trying to navigate and figure out why she lost 3 years of her memory and what happened in those years. She was kidnapped and who happens to save her? Her father’s enemy Phoenix (Nix). Confused on why she must be prisoner now to this man, she tries to puts the missing pieces together. Phoenix will not tell her much. Her memory slowly starts coming back in little fragments and she realizes her life isn’t what she thought it was years ago.
I love the flashbacks because it gives us a better understanding of it all. I need Nix’s POV in the next book because I would love to get into his mind. Phoenix is just pure sin and you can’t help but drool over him. You are playing with fire with a man like that. Has me questioning my morals. 😅
The build up is just done so well. Even before regaining her memories, you can feel the attraction. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and spice is just *chef’s kiss*. Those scenes are just 🔥🔥.
I can’t wait for the next installment! That cliffhanger has me feral. Definitely had me rethinking it all. I’ll just say that because you are going to want book 2 asap but good things come to those who wait. So I’ll be waiting. Very anxiously! 😭
OMG, the way basically swallowed up this story!!!!
Amazing writing, the emotions of everg characters were palpable even though it's written in one pov!!!! That is what is amazing to me!!
Usually, authors really need to add other characters' pov to convey all the underlying emotions, etc. But there was no need here.
The yearning of the mmc in the beginning and throughout thooo? Their chemistry???❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 The fmc basically being the one initiating intimacy every time 10/10!
Wow, wow, jumping to the next book rn!!!
Thank you to the amazing person that shared this as rec!
This book came out of left field, slapped me upside the head, and totally caught me off guard! Like wtf just happened?!?!
So first off, I did receive an ARC for this (thank you!) as did two of my book friends and they read this before me and raaaaaved about it! Normally a cover like this wouldn't grab my immediate attention (don't mean to throw any shade, just being truthful for this next part --> ) but my two friends were like "you MUST read this next!" and so I did and hooooooly $hit! I still don't know what it is about this book, but from the moment I cracked open the first page and the smell of those Kindle pages hit me, I was obsessed with this book!
The writing is fab and totally has you riveted but how the story unfolds while you get to know the main characters and start falling into this story... I don't even know how to describe it. This story just makes you feel! And with the twists and turns of this, you're not sure where things are going - and when you get somewhere, then you're thrown for a loop. What you thought to be true actually isn't, or - sometimes it is! So your head is just spinning, and you are on the edge of your seat with a "wtf is happening? And what is happening next?!" and for that reason you will devour this book! This was the first book this year that I have not been able to put down and speed-read through. And then the way it ends?! Omg are you kidding me???? Like what in the hell is going on? I need part 2 immediately!
I don’t want to give much away but holy cow this book was good. It had several of my favorite tropes, amnesia, captor/captive, dark, mafia… it was so good and I’m excited to read the next book in the series.
Our heroine is being held captive in a dark cell. She hasn’t been fed or given much water. She’s in an extremely bad state. The only thing she remembers is her age, name and that He will come for her, he always comes for her. Eeek, I totally swooned!
Very few books keep me saying just one more chapter but I could not put this book down. The twists and turns with every memory McKenzie remembered had me wondering what was the real truth. The spice was on point and I love a book that leaves you on a cliffhanger because now I am so invested I NEED to know what happens next. I will be starting book 2 the second it comes out. This book was brilliantly done and I would give it more stars if that was an option.
As far as amnesia tropes, secret society, kidnapped, bought , sold books goes, He will come for me was an amazing read. I can not tell you how many times I gasped. Kenzi and Nix are it. This book leaves on a cliffhanger and in Phoenix pov. Phoenix finds Kenzi with no memory, she has lost all her memories. Her body and heart know him but her mind remains on the fence. Phoenix takes advantage of kenzi not having her memories to try and fix past mistakes. I absolutely loved this book.
This was my first book by this author and a great one to start with for sure.
Phoenix Stone is the enemy of McKenzie’s father. But when they end up in a private school Together she can’t get over how completely handsome he is.
She has such a magnetic draw to him but she is the nerdy girl that loves to spend Time in the library & read, and he is into the sports scene. Though their paths do cross a few times.
A few years later When Kenzie ends up being the prisoner of Phoenix, she realizes she has a serious case of amnesia and so many things for her are not adding up at all. The bits and pieces she starts to remember continue to leave her so lost and confused and Nix isn’t exactly offering up a lot of info.
The suspense throughout the book has you wanting to devour it completely in one sitting… the plot twists were good and the cliffhanger has me wanting so much more.
The author did great capturing this romantic suspense and putting it to paper.
This book was absolutely amazing. It was so different from other books by Nicole as it has darker undertones running through it.
Phoenix and Mckenzie had me utterly enthralled from the beginning, and I couldn't put the book down and was desperate to find out what was happening.
There is a lot going on in this book, but the story is so good it isn't what it seems at first and continues to surprise you throughout.
Phoenix and mckenzies chemistry is off the charts. Even when she doesn't realise who he is, she knows she wants him, and the attraction is undeniable.
I love that we get the flashback scenes that show us what happened before and give us a better understanding of how Phoenix and McKenzie ended up together.
The cliffhanger was an absolute killer, and I can't wait for the second part of the book and to get more POV from Phoenix.
"You look gorgeous, McKenzie." - Phoenix "I'm not even finished getting ready." - McKenzie "It doesn't matter. You're always the most beautiful woman in the room." - Phoenix
I am so impressed with Nicole's first dark romance. Until now she has written small town contemporary romances but branched off into her darker side with Nix and Kenz and I couldn't stop reading once I started.
Reviewing this one will be tricky because anything and everything could be a spoiler. These two are not simply just a love story....there are so many factors to their story that made them so much fun to read. You think you have things figured out and then Ms. Abrams is making you second guess your thoughts.
If you like a good darker story with twists thrown in here and there that will leave you guessing up until the end He Will Come For Me is definitely the book for you. You will fall in love with Phoenix and McKenzie even though your heart will hurt a time or two!!!! It id quite the reading ride to say the least!
This book has everything! The spice, the cliffhanger, the puzzles to piece together throughout the whole story… I was completely interested from the very first page. Following the FMC’s pov proved to be emotional as she starts remembering a more of what happened to her and what her life has come to be. When I say there is a complete twist and cliffhanger I mean it. I have not been able to stop thinking about what could happen next. I can’t wait for the next book!
I felt like this book was holding me hostage. The first 50 percent of the book was SO good and mysterious, so I kept making myself read to hope it would get good again. Then, I started actually hating the mmc. There was so many scene where it was touching the line of 🍇 and the worst part was, the fmc was so dumb and gullible it took her so long to realize things I figured out within CHAPTERS. Anyways, will not be reading the second book. If this book continued like the first half, this would be a very different review 😕 would very much like every man in this book to disappear 🫠
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end. So incredibly good! I loved the characters, the well written plot, and the unexpected twist. You will travel a journey of remembering unbelievable deeds and heartbreaking truths as Makenzie slowly gains pieces of her memory stolen from her. But what is the whole truth? I'm bitting my nails for the continued story to this 5-star read. Highly recommended!
"He will come for me. He always comes for me." ~ McKenzie
My first ARC review of the month and whew. We already have a contender for book of the month.
McKenzie is seemingly rescued from one prison, only to land in another. Her amnesia makes it extremely to difficult to tell what's real and what isn't. Who's telling the truth and who's lying? Phoenix is the schoolyard crush turned hot captor who's maybe something more? This book has spice (we're giving it a 3, he's pïêrced!), suspense, and plenty of secrets. I could not put this book down. I literally read until I fell asleep. This cliffhanger had my jaw on the ground. I cannot wait for the sequel and it's going to be on the top of my TBR as soon as it comes out. @nicoleabramsauthor has crafted a story perfect for people who loved Haunting Adeline and The Ritual. This book is now available, so check it out on the 'zon.
Tropes : 🔪Mafïå Romance 💰Billionaire Romance ⚔️Tøüch Her and Dïe 🤬Førced Prøximity 🤐Secret Society
I was so excited about the found married couple amnesia trope. It didn't disappoint as far as Kenzie finding out she's married to Phoenix and to see just how posessive they are of one another. I just wish we had more meaningful interactions instead of her stating she's always had a crush on him since high school. It feels like she mentions it in every interaction. I need more from them. Even in the flashback, it has the same thing mentioned... I need more than just sex or multiple retellings of the auctions. We already went through the auction from a new perspective since Kenzie lost her memory. So, in the flashback, I felt like I didn't need to go through it again as Kenzie from 3 years ago. She goes through the same thing and feels the same in the past as she does in the present. Phoenix helps her get through the night, she doesn't like witnessing the auction, they have sex in their sex chair before the ending event. Unfortunately, I had to skim this part because I didn't need to read it again.
As for that big cliffhanger, I had a feeling it was going to be a woman who kidnapped Kenzie. It was either going to be another woman jealous of her and Phoenix or his mother since she was not talked about and was still alive.
Anyways, I think because we don't get anything from Phoenix pov I can't 100% say I like this man and trust him. I do feel like he's genuine enough and seems to regret how they started out. He seems to want to do things properly and be husband and wife for real this time. Kenzie seems pretty logical and thinks things through even at the end. I hope the next book moves faster with developments and we get a good conclusion on Phoenix's mother and possibly come to better terms with Kenzie's father since he doesn't seem like the bad guy but more like he was forced to do things because of Phoenix's mother. Anyways, I can see how it'll go. Hopefully, next book will surprise me.

~~ "Tell me to stop and I'll walk out of this room, but I need you to tell me now, because the moment I climb on this bed, I plan on doing everything I've been fantasizing about since I found you." ~~
I've read some of Nicole's work before but I have to say ... this is by far my favorite from hers. This one hooked me from the very beginning. This book will definitely leave you with more questions than answers. By the end you will not know if you should trust the one person that you left your guard down with. Kenzie is suffering from traumatic amnesia after being kidnapped. She was rescued by the last person she imagined .... Nix. The person she had the biggest crush on when they were together at the academy. Now surrounded by strangers in a strange place and not remembering anything, she is determined to find out how and who kidnapped her. But secrets are unfolding and dark secrets will start unraveling.

honestly why the fuck was this book so good?????? I could hardly put it down, it was THAT GOOD
the characters, the story, the plottwists??? good lord I am HOOKED
although I think it was a liiiitle too dark for me, especially the auction scenes (I'm so sorry what happens at those auctions is SO DISTURBINGLY OFFENSIVE????? ik it's fictional but... it's so fucking sick and twisted)
and talking about sick and twisted... THE END OF THIS FREAKING BOOK???? HELLO??????? that was so unexpected oh my god my heart broke in so many pieces
I love Phoenix and Kenzie so much but they're just a liiiiiiitle (just a tiiiiiiiny bit) toxic for eachother (I mean the epilogue just explains it all)
I can't even imagine what it must've been for Phoenix during that time oh god, I AM GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE NEXT BOOK IDC IDC!!!
4-4.5⭐️ This is a steamy dark mafia romance with a twist including amnesia and enemies to lovers trope. Haven’t read a book like this before and it did not disappoint. Just when I thought I knew what way the story was going the plot took a turn and left me so invested as things unfolded and had me glued to my book wanting to know what would happen next.
The story follows McKenzie (FMC) and Phoenix (MMC) and is written from McKenzie’s pov as she returns after being kidnapped and held captive. It’s a crazy ride experiencing her journey of life after this traumatic event and I cannot wait to read the next instalment of this series!
