These two authors always deliver the best in sci-fi extra terrestrial adventures and they do not deceive in this adventure either.
A crew composed of army veterans from different species across the entire known Universe, have formed a team that navigates space in the Upheaval, a star vessel and pick up assignments in order to survive and make a profit in a world ruled by humans where aliens are either in the military of used as slave labour.
One mission consists of taking aboard a very important dignitary from a distant planet and delivering her to a specified destination. While doing so and under their protection, the dignitary is murdered and the crew is accused and arrested by the humans as responsible for the murder even if they had nothing to do with it. One solution is left. They must travel the galaxy in order to clear their name. One problem, though. There is a war raging.
As rare as it appears, in my opinion, book 2 is better than book 1.
Wolf and his crew of ex-military alien fighters known as Thunderstrike are still fighting their way to the Frontier where their goal of reuniting each team member with their families can be achieved.
But, like the saying says,:"Beware of what you wish for."
They fight every inch of the way with the Alvai on their tail looking for Wolf. Why? No one knows.
They thought that humans were slavers, well guess what? They're not the only ones.
They reunite with other Alien species they used to call comrades in arms and the bonds are re-established in seconds. Together, they strive to reach their goal. However, humans, 8 to be exact are now part of the crew as the Earth galaxie is being destroyed by the Alvai.
One of the best books of the series, this brilliantly written book by terrific authors, keeps the reader on his or her toes all through the book.
The authors have achieved the impossible. They have succeeded in bringing together species or factions that hate each other's gutts and fight, as one unit, for all the Alien races in the world.
Wolf still tries to figure out why the Alvai is so intent in meeting with him.
What a book deserving more than the 5 Stars maximum authorized by this platform
I usually start by giving my take on certain happenings in the book while trying not to give away the plot.
It is virtually impossible to give a taste of this masterpiece without giving away the plot.
I have been reading for a very long time and viewed films that litterally glued me to my chair, they were so good.
Well, this, and I repeat Masterpiece, is Action, Action and Action. Combat, Alliances, Treachery, constant changing of Faction's chain of command with new commanders feeling liberated and not compelled to honor the previous leaders commitments and conspiracies all through the book that I highly recommend and that is not the best part. The stories of two alien races will be r revealed at the end. Is Wolf the last Coyama, like Cooper's Last Mohican after his race was murdered by the Earth Galaxy Military? Who are the Alvai and what do they want with the highly decorated sargent?
Rating this book 5 Stars is not enough. It deserves a lot more. In my opinion, it is the best action filled book that I have read in the last 40 years.
Wolf, the Lament and its crew are on their final voyage with a definite goal.
Each and every crew member must and will be returned to his or her home planet.
However, this is easier said than done.
True to this captivating series, the authors have masterfully created and written, a breathtaking finale where , as stated before, each and every crew member including Wolf, will be returned to his Home planet or settlement depending on where their species has taken up residence.
From being attacked by their relentless enemy, facing a world where women are less than men and destined to be wed and used for the species's procreation, witnessing a tragedy of epic proportions, crossing a zone where two neighboring planets are at war because of simple dominance and greed, being attacked by a world dominance, pillaging and complete anhilation species that appear to multiply at will, and finally meeting his goal and keeping his promise, Wolf and his crew, the main characters of this great series created by Daniel and Joshua, have their task cut out for them.
As usual with these two authors using their gift, the reader is virtually taken on an adventure filled with every possible science fiction experience felt like reality. As far as this reader is concerned, the book merits more than the maximum 5 Stars given and I highly recommend the book.
Filled with action, bigotry, unknowns and adventures, this is a series that is a great read that I rate with 5 Stars and highly recommend, while looking forward to the next one. A must read.
