Hilary Bonner is an English crime novelist, best known for her psychological thrillers.

Almost all Bonner’s novels are inspired by real life events, often drawing on her journalistic past with The Sun, The Mail on Sunday, and Daily Mirror. The Times described her as ‘keeping on the public agenda the stories our masters would prefer buried.’

She shares her life with her partner, the actress Amanda Barrie, and, with their dog Coco. She divides her time between her house in rural Somerset and her flat at the heart of Covent Garden.

This wasn't what I expected when I read the blurb. It was not so much a crime novel with perhaps a little bit of sexiness thrown in, but more a sexy novel with a little bit of crime thrown in - not my cup of tea, I'm more interested in how people's minds work than how their bodies work 😊

Erotic

Erotic is the only word that springs to mind after reading this book although not necessarily a good thing I felt it overshadowed the story for half the book but then I guess it was always the underlying problem ..did struggle with the amount of it through the book didn't feel it was the usual style

I recently read 'When the Dead cry out' and being really impressed purchased some of her earlier novels.
I read this first book quite quickly and did enjoy it. I feel the book was realistic and felt true to life although set quite a bit in the past.
The author's knowledge of journalism and politics shines through the writing. I was eager to know what was going on so kept reading.
I felt the twist at the end was too much and did not feel it was necessary to take the book in this direction but what do I know it is up to the author to decide.
I would recommend this one but it had (in my opinion) far too much explicit sex scenes. If I wanted that in a thriller I would go to something like 'Fifty Shades' which I certainly will not do.
