Short stories in between novels always make for entertaining reading, especially when you need a sample from a dark and delightful one. Candace Robinson knows how to draw her readers in with memorable characters and divinely savage beasts. From sirens who beckon others to death and witches who learn the truth about their kind, both tales provide darkness, drama, and debacles. Easy to read in 30 minutes; shows exactly the type of solid writing and clever storytelling you'll get from Robinson, and will leave you wanting more.

I loved each of these short stories. A Birthday Hex was unexpected, and I loved how the story played out. Enraptured was perfect and reminded me of the Grimm's fairy tales I read with my grandpa as a child. These were both satisfyingly complete as they were, but I also would not mind if each expanded into a book or three.

2 interesting short stories! Don’t fully love short stories because I usually wish they were longer for a fuller story, but I really enjoy Robinson’s writing, so gave this book a shot. Enjoyed both stories! The first story Birthday Hex was my favorite. It’s Charm’s 18th birthday - her mom and nana have some very unexpected surprises for her. Charm will need to find an inner strength to deal with it all. Love her connection with her boyfriend, Sage! Very sweet between them. The 2nd story is Enraptured. This one is a tale of being careful what you wish for; the consequences may be more than you expected. Enjoy Robinson’s way with words and the sort of macabre tone to her stories!

Two amazing short stories that will leave you wanting more. If you want to read some stories that you will fall in love with, then you should pick up this book. A Birthday Hex was my favorite and I wish the story didn't have to end. Give this book a read!

The first story of witches and hexes was highly entertaining and captivating, the siren story however fell a bit short. I felt it was rushed. It was narrated well, written well and overall I would recommend to other readers who want something short and dark for a quick boredom buster.
