When I saw her from across the bar with her pretty little face, her big brown eyes, her long brown hair and her beautiful, fuck-me body, I just knew that I would never be able to shake her from my damn mind. The truth behind my rugged exterior. But you know the rules of the Corsican Mafia. No witnesses… So I had to take her in. I had to make her my hostage. And I had to make her my wife… Whether she liked it or not.Book 1 of series and ends in a cliffhanger
This was the first book that I had read by A.Hayat. Rose's backstory at the beginning of the book was heartbreaking. To have her husband killed with no leads just hit you in the heart. She finally moves on, and on a night out with her friends, she meets Ace. Unbeknownst to Rose Ace, he is a mafia leaders son. He is expected to marry into an arranged marriage that he does not want. He takes Rose home, and after some steamy time. She unexpectedly witnesses a murder and here's about the death of aces supposed fiance. The only way the Ace can protect and keep her he decides to make her marry him. This book had some twists that I kind of wasn't expecting. I wish it was longer, and I'm not 100% sure that I liked Ace's brother Leonardo. The writing style seemed interesting. The way the book was formatted seemed a little weird it's probably just like my struggle was the font size and the format of like the pages. But overall, I enjoyed the author's writing style and the plot line.
Just as I was getting into the thick of it, the cliffhanger appeared. The reason I dislike these authors who constantly write 3 or more cliffhangers.
Overall this start to the Corsican Mob series is literally wetting the appetite. It's fast-paced, not too dark, witty and sexy. Some grammatical errors, and it could do with some more editing. I already identify with Rose as a plus size...loving that authors are being realistic with the varying body sizes. I like the authors approach to grief and paving the way for the femme Fatale to get over such a horrific event. As I want to see how this plays out, the author has left me with no choice but to purchase the other series. It is time authors stop with the million cliffhangers. It gets boring.
As someone who enjoys fictional stories about crime families, I was excited to read this book. However, I found myself disappointed by the execution. The dialogue is stilted, there are distracting editing errors, and the author overuses curse words, to the point where these words lose their “punch.” Though this book wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, fans of dark romance novels may enjoy this story.
Every sentence doesn't need a double space afterwards. Paragraphs are a thing When using speech marks use them at BOTH ends, not just at the beginning The story could have been ok but I couldn't get past the formatting and other errors

This was a brilliant mafia romance was out of this world and I struggled to put it down as it was well written put together. The characters were perfectly put together and made the book come together. I read the book in one day as it was so enjoyable. A hayat is an amazing author and this was just an example of her fantastic work. If you enjoy mafia romances then this is the book for you.
