How Far Would You Go To Save Your Friends?

Melbourne 1942.  As the World War II Pacific war rages, 16-year-old cadet reporter Murph and his cheeky Aboriginal friend Banjo are thrown headfirst into an explosive wartime conspiracy when their old nemesis is found dead on Christmas Eve.

All the evidence points to Banjo, who has disappeared without a trace. But Murph refuses to accept it, and—with the beautiful, enigmatic British spy Rose Atherton at his side—he dives deeper into a murky world of wealth and power.

Meanwhile, Banjo's sister Micki plans her daring escape from a POW camp in the Australian outback. But can she really trust her fellow inmates, and be reunited with her family and Murph? With dangerous forces closing in, Murph must decide whether to risk everything—his freedom, his job, even his life—to uncover the truth and save his friends.

The Deep Deadline is a race against time, with nothing but their wits, grit, and fireworks to unravel a deadly mystery that runs all the way to the top of the Allied war effort. This is the second book in The Deep Enders series.

Hi, I’m Dave … I’m a writer, journalist, speaker, husband, dad to three loud boys & somewhere along the line I inadvertently became a YouTuber too.

I was a reporter for 10 years, covering crime, politics and crocodile for major Australian and international newspapers before heading online with my wife Ann Reardon (the genius behind HowToCookThat – one of the world’s favourite cooking shows).

As well as ghostwriting for some great people, I’ve had a couple of non-fiction leadership books published a few years back and have now branched into the world of Young Adult historical fiction with ‘The Deep Enders’ series of novels.

I live in Melbourne, Australia.

I am a huge fan of Anne and Dave, read the first book and couldn't wait for this one.

I really like the book overall. I liked to get back into all orf the characters, especially because we get a little insight into the first steps into the journalistic path I am also trying to take.

The book was slightly shorter than I might have wanted ut, and am really looking forward to a nexct episode because things remained quite unsolved and I want more.

All of the newly introduced characters were great, and I especially liked the discovery of all of the secret plot surrounding the murder, that is so similar to how is going on in real time under our noses without our knowledge.

Still because this book was for me shorter than I would have liked I didn't find the spark of the first oner and didn't consider it 5 stars. I am hoopeful for the next one!

Another fun adventure with the Deep Enders crew! I didn’t find this book as compelling as the first. This adventure seemed less broad and too quickly paced. However, Reardon’s charming writing is still present throughout. I look forward to if there will be another adventure involving Murph, Banjo and Micki.
