Write Me a Code for Murder: Myrtle Glubber Mystery

Rate this book
Attending the annual San Francisco A.I. Conference at the FBI’s request sounded like a great idea. All
amateur novelists Myrtle and Stanley had to do was enjoy the culinary delights and upper-class luxury of
the Golden City by the Bay while providing a distraction from the real investigators. What could possibly
go wrong?
Using research for an upcoming book on A.I. as their “cover,” the authors find themselves mingling with
world renowned scientists, journalists, and, as it turns out, double agents, kidnappers, and murderers.
One scientist is murdered, Stanley is kidnapped, and Myrtle finds herself torn between the amorous
advances of two other scientists and the desperation of rescuing Stanley without any help from the FBI.
Can she convince the FBI to help, or will they stay hands-off to protect their cover? Can she trust anyone
around her? If it comes down to trading government secrets to save Stanley’s life, should she do it?

A Great Adventure for Myrtle Glubber

I found this book very difficult to put down once I really got started. This book contains serious criminal content, with several touches of humor. I find this combination pleasurable to read.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a mystery that takes you on a journey where you think you have it figured out, and find out you didn’t. It includes a lot of context about AI. Enjoy!

Fantastic read. Had a very difficult time putting this book down. Never did guess who killed Lydia. Very well written.

Needed better editing. Choppy sentences. Words missing in sentences several times.
Story hops from one event to another very often and you are told 2 of the supposedly main characters have developed a relationship but it isn't shown and I asked myself when that happened. The story takes place during a one week conference according to the story line but tge events in the story seemed to take place within a three day time span.

It was ... okay, not particularly interesting, and Myrtle's popularity seemed unfounded. She also did not come across as someone in her 50s but more like someone over 80. Not only her name, but the constant use of the word "slacks" to describe the pants she wore, gave this supposedly contemporary story a very outdated feel. Also, I believe that most people under 80, and probably most over 80, have a fairly good idea about what AI is by now.

Yet another issue, although maybe it's on Amazon, is that this book was listed as being the first in the series, but clearly it isn't.

Finally, I'm getting a bit tired of fictional metabolisms. A post-menopausal woman who eats and drinks as much as Myrtle does and doesn't have a serious workout routine would most likely be extremely overweight, not just a little. She'd also be considered an alcoholic and thus not the best choice for sensitive spying missions.

I read the first book with Myrtle and Stanley at the author's convention. I really enjoyed it, but this book was so much better. It was so well written and the twists and turns kept me from guessing what was really going on. Great characters--Myrtle was definitely quirky--I want to be like her. Recommend reading.

Mrytle and fellow author friends are attending a prestigious award for their future works but beware of strings attached! The kindly older lady is suspicious and isn't sure what's going on. She bumbles along with her notorious knack of wearing her food. fast paced, funny, and fun characters. a cozy mystery.

I wanted to read a book about an older woman who wanted to solve a mystery. At times, it reminded me much of murder she wrote. I laughed every time Myrtle spilled on herself or had something spilled on her. At times, the dialogue between the characters seemed short and choppy. But the overall storywas decent. I listened to this on audiobook. I may have enjoyed it better had a read it.
