A collection of Sci-Fi/ Fantasy short stories. My favourite was ”The Canadian Miracle” by Cory Doctorow. A story about how the MAGA-crowd handles global warming when the U.S. of A is hit really hard.
"On the Fox Roads" – 3/5 An interesting story, but I got lost several times during it. Which, considering the main plot idea, was maybe by design, but it made it difficult to follow.
"The Canadian Miracle" – 1/5 What? Was this even a story?
"Some Ways to Retell a Fairy Tale" – 2/5 I kind of liked this one
but then it kept going on and on as a single run-on sentence, which was exhausting to read
but also "weave it jacquard-wise" is a such a perfect phrase
"A Heart Between Teeth" – 4/5 I don't understand why the ending played out like it did (other than the emotional reaction it's meant to evoke). Why did she break after the end? It felt like a very dissatisfactory resolution.
"Sun River" – 2/5 An interesting idea, and I wanted to like it, but the writing got in the way.
"The Sound of Reindeer" – 2/5 This was supposed to be a horror story I guess, but I was too turned off by how odd it was to feel any sort of dread.
