Dominic and Faye

Evil twin trope
Faye gets fooled into marrying Dominic by her evil twin.
He is such an immature H… his dialogue is childish, he’s like Joffrey from GOT. He runs around chipping off fingers and pulling guns but it like so teenager. Such an unlikeable H…. I just can’t even… a lot of boring pages about mafia stuff. He basically rapes h twice, He tortures her too . She lets him Off way too easy. Hmm maybe this is really a one star….

But were they truly married

Mistaken identity. Dominic was forcing Darrian into marriage not knowing that he actually was marrying her twin Faye.

You have many triggers in the book to be cautious of though, so if you easily trigger you might want to see what that are from the Author.

They do get their HEA after the betrayal though.

My biggest problem is if she signed the marriage license under her sister Farrah that would mean that Faye and Dom are not kegal.

I struggled to give this even three stars....I did not like either the H or the h. Both in different ways were very weak, immature and incapable of using their words.

OW drama = h was identical twin of OW. OW has h take her place on a "date" which turned out to be a set up for h to marry H as part of a agreement the OW and H had. OW was involved with very dangerous people including the H. OW had agreed to the marriage to H and had to be examined by a doctor. H needed to be married to gain part of his inheritance (taking over the crime organization run by his father) and to conceive an heir. OW threw h to the wolves by having h step in for the wedding. This ends up getting the h SA/R by the H (h had been a virgin). h bled profusely due to the negligence and lack of care by the H. Doctor was brought in to examine h and was very clear to the H that h was not the same person he examined earlier (which was the OW, twin of h, who everyone knew was a very promiscuous female who also frequently whored herself out). h had to constantly deal with OM coming up to her and either implying a previous liaison with h or trying to have one with the h, since the OW was always so free with her favors. OW is constantly using the h to take the fall for the OW and h always seemed to let her. So frustrating and showed such a lack of mental intelligence by the h as well as an inability to learn from experience. Comeuppance? The OW ends up dying in a bombing the OW set up in the hopes that h would die. h still felt bad that OW died and very nearly chose to save the OW rather than the H (h was such an immature idiot).

Mafia/Bravta = H was the heir to take over his father's criminal empire and engaged in the requisite crimes in the book. It was background noise that drove the plot but I skimmed most of it, trying to just push through the book.

SA/R = H rapes the h on his wedding night despite the h telling him no and begging him to stop. H is not a small man and h apparently was smaller than normal in the vaginal area as well as having a more attached than normal hymen (all explained by doctor after the fact). Due to zero care and prep prior to forcible entry, H tore the h up pretty bad and caused profuse bleeding. Yet prior to this, the h was having some BBS (HATE that). h gets over it (H doesn't apologize per se, just said, whoops, my bad, thought you were OW) and starts salivating over the H and how he was so attractive and sexy even though he treats the h like total shit. They have sex some more. h sneaks out to go see OW who she has been protecting from being found by the H. H finds h with OW and h tells OW to run. OW leaves and then h proceeds to beat the h within an inch of her life and anally SA/Rs the h with a sex object that is obscene in size and the H even thought was too big for even experienced person. Also, prior to a lot of this and even after this, h is consistently cornered by OMs who want another ride whether she is willing or not thinking h is OW/her twin.

Grovel = *crickets chirping*...H said he was sorry....yeah that's about it. h has BBS so ya know the magical dick which H has all made up for it.

Like I said I struggled with the three stars and struggled to finish the book. The elements were present for an amazing story, but the BBS, the immaturity, the horrific things done to the h who just blithely forgave after too short of a time, etc. all brought this down to three stars which I thought was very generous of me.

One non con scene due to mistaken identity and once Dominic realizes he never forces Faye again. Not dark at all.

Dominic becomes nice, and while Faye is the sweet sister, a little sassy, she’s also annoying af. She makes irrational, emotional decisions. She could make the best of having a mafia prince crazy about her, but she’s a whiner. TSTL. At 65% and losing interest. This book doesn’t know what it wants to be. Dark, it’s not; power exchange, unsuccessful. The antihero becomes a simp for a shrew. DNF

The book shocked me to the core. I didn't expect it like that. Every time the mmc hurt the fmc in any kind of way, I was more traumatized than the moment before. The fmc's mental health is one I want to solve or at least kind of understand how it works. Because if this happened to any other girl in the real world she would want to die and end her life the moment she is alone. Thank god it's fictional or else this would have been a disaster. I would mark this book as a black romance because of how dark it was. Wouldn't recommend it to sensitive readers or newbies in Dark romance at all. If you belong to one of those categories I would wholeheartedly recommend you not to read it until you have read a good amount of dark romance books that gave you a good perspective of how dark dark romance can be.
I gave it two stars because I found the characters very interesting, especially the fmc. I like the writing.

♧Smexy Mob Boss ahead🙌😍♧
Call me crazy but the darker the romance, the better, and let me tell you, this one is dark!!! This dark romance has enemies to lovers, so many wtf moments (seriously, wtf just happened 😳 🤔) fast-paced, and of course includes a mob boss and a FMC that's crazy enough to deal with him 🤣🖤

Feral, I feel like everyone in this book is feral. The MMC is stupiddddd in my opinion. Just a brute acting on first impulses, zero thought behind actions. I also scoffed when he was all “I protected you” when he brutalized her ‘the most’. I enjoyed the read (on page trigger warnings) but the MMC was not for me.

This was a hard one for me to rate and not because of the dark nature of this book I’ve read darker. I felt that the main male character was forgiven too easily and the groveling was not enough and I felt the MFC was too forgiving of her twin and of Dominic. I felt his reasonings for torturing Faye was unbelievable in the sense that he’s supposed to be a smart man and he couldn’t draw logical conclusions based of the facts he had. He made an emotional decision and for a mafia lead logic should rule over emotions. Not to mention that Faye’s twin told her part of the plot to turn father and son against each other and there was someone from within betraying them… she never divulged that info to Dominic… granite she was tortured (under the guise of BDSM which was not what that was) so chances are she forgot… I’ll never know because she never brought it up. There was obvious foreshadowing at the beginning of the book and again when Dominic’s father said those that betray us are often the ones close to us so I was able to put 2+2 together to realize that Dominic’s brother was the one to betray him.

The book opens with Faye’s identical twin sister convincing her to swap places with her to go on the Date she was supposed to be on because she’s sick. Faye is in denial due to guilt (she should have in my opinion) that her twin was in prison which she blames herself over and her twin throws it in her face. The twin embezzled then try to throw Faye under the bus to make her take the blame and Faye didn’t have any of it and told the police the truth. So Faye has misplaced guilt that she’s trying to make up for and the twin (I will not refer to her by name that evil bitch)… spending well deserved jail time. And that bitch uses that to exploit her own sister. She has her convinced it’s a dinner show that immerses everyone into it and that she’ll need to sign a waiver.

Faye is the shy, go getter does everything right kind of gal while the bitch is a trouble
Maker with no care for her own sister that never did anything wrong… I wish there was a evil monologue from her so we’d know why she had such contempt for her own sister that tried everything to show her love. So when she shows up for this date she takes a Valium so she can step into sister’s role as a confident person she is not. When she shows up she’s disoriented from the meds and the alcohol so she doesn’t realize she’s being married off to the head mob boss for a marriage of convenience where she agrees to have his baby and sign over full custody. Before she has a chance to process what’s happening he now husband, Dominic throws her over his shoulder.

At this point she realizes that she needs to come straight and say who she is but he won’t hear her out and because her sister is such a bitch she doesn’t have reputable history with him which is why she was “blackmailed” to marry him so he had that control over her. He ends up raping her thinking it’s the twin bitch who, we find out later, is a definite sex worker. He finds out she’s telling the truth because she’s a virgin and when the doctor confirms it. Dominic never apologizes to Faye and now he finds himself in a pickle where he only considers his problems… he cannot let daddy know he failed on such epic scale.

He keeps her locked up in the room and says that she knows too much now and that she’d be killed if she doesn’t stay there for his protection. Not a lot of time goes by before she gives into her sexual attraction to him despite what he did to her, despite that there was no apology. She feels betrayed by her sister but not enough that she wants her dead. Things go array with a gun trade deal and his Brother is shot and in the hospital and not they know someone is a mole but they don’t know who betrayed them.

Faye gets ahold of her sister over the phone and she’s making it sound like she did her a favor and she’s living the high life and then guilt trips her again making her seem like Faye is betraying her again. The amount of gaslighting is unreal. I don’t understand why Faye doesn’t call her out on her shit. She’s just sits there and takes it. Meanwhile all the guys in the house and other houses have slept with the evil twin and think Faye is her and think they have a right to her body so she’s being accosted by men left and right. She finally stands up to Dominic and they have a heated chase through the house that ends in to finally consenting to sex. He thinks that he can finally trust her… maybe.

But after that moment his dad shows up unnoticed. She goes to a different room to get away from the commotion where one the dads guards thinks she’s the evil twin and he tries to force himself on her. He admits he and her sister had a plan to double cross the dad and Dominic. She stabs him with a pen and runs and he kicks her down the stairs and puts her at gun point. Dominic shoots him. She’s in shock and shortly after he leaves to go meet his dad at the hospital to visit his brother… she makes a run for it. Not to escape but to confront her sister… one to protect her sister to get her to run but also to protect Dominic to get information to help him. Dominic thinks she’s betrayed him and is working with her sister and she was the plant all along. He finds her talking with her sister… Faye protects her sister and has her run.

Dominic is so mad that he ends up doing a full on torture scene on her. He realizes at the end that she was always telling the truth and he’s messed up big time. The groveling doesn’t last long she basically does a more sensual version of his torture session on him to get him to admit that he doesn’t want to be mob boss and just wants to be with her and have a family. She forgives him. I need more groveling…. To fit the misdeed anyway.

Right after this he gets word that his dad is going behind his back on a deal and he goes to meet him to incept this deal that was supposed to be his. Lionel, his brother, convinces them that those guns are the ones that were stolen in the original deal when things went south. So there’s a party planned to kill the father to make an example of what happens to traders (not Dominic’s decision he feels like there’s something off but doesn’t know what yet but know his father wouldn’t take guns from a guy so low on the totem pole).

At this “party” the truth is revealed the evil twin and Lionel are the masterminds behind all the betrayals they were just working the father and son against each other. He ties the 2 loyal guards, Faye and Dominic up in the house that has explosives go off. They get away and a fight breaks off between Dominic and Lionel and Faye and her evil twin. As a piece of the building falls Faye has a choice save her husband or her sister… both have betrayed her but she knew she had to save Dominic because she loved him. It still broke her heart to lose her sister.

Dominic is injured bad and is on bed rest for 5 days. At the end he gets restless and starts to leave when Faye arouses him and he finally gives in and they make love and admit their love for each other. He’s rebuilding his empire but this time with her by his side for everything. He uses his brute and she uses her polite charm and they make a good team. She admits she’s pregnant and the end.

Even though the author has talent and can write I can’t bring myself to give more than one star. The MMC was violent with the MFC. The torture in chapter 26, the rape with a big sex toy in her ass. The gagging with the ball. All from him refusing to listen. The clamps electric and the beating her black and blue. It was over the top. I don’t care about torture of this type if in the story it adds to the story and makes sense. Like another character did this to her but no way am I convinced even after her doing soft torture to him ( where he threatens her again!) and he confessed his thoughts do I believe he truly loved her. If you love someone no matter how angry you don’t do this. This really establishes a bad narrative of taking abuse from your partner. I can imagine young late teens reading this and thinking this is acceptable if the man loves me. Also, she got over it so quick next thing she is getting turned on from her torture session with him. She proceeds to fuck him. Boo she destroyed some gifts. It just glosses over abuse. She is forever at risk of him doing this again but maybe next time killing her.

I usually don’t rate a book I DNF but this one I had to.

I am convinced that this book was either written by a man using a woman’s name as a pen name or a literal child.

The FMC is described to have such a small vagina that she has a hard time putting a tampon in. What? And the MMC keeps talking about how big his dick is in the most immature way.

Plus, the MMC full one SAs her just goes oopsies it was a misunderstanding.

Vicious Vows by Rae B. Lake is a dark romance story full of angst, kink, intense drama, suspense, murder and betrayals about the violent crime world and the struggle for power and control.

Dominic Lochley is a crime lord who is trying to make a name for himself to prove to his diabolical father that he is able to take over the business from him. Dominic is a brutal killer, angry and vicious in dealing with his enemies and those close to him but soon he will find that a Vicious Vow maybe his downfall or salvation. Faye is the twin sister of Farrah who is selfish, wild and lives a debauched lifestyle and in debt to Dominic's family. To get back at her sister for sending her to prison, Farrah uses Faye's emotions to ask her to take her place at a dinner party saying she is sick. Once Faye arrives at the mansion she soon discovers all of this was a ruse on her sister's part and she ends up being a prisoner and soon married to Dominic who he thinks is Farrah when he takes her innocence everything changes for both of them. Their time together, is raw, cruel and violent but also sensual, once he learns the truth that Farrah played him and his family he has no choice but to keep up the ruse that Faye is Farrah or they both maybe killed. Dominic is trying to make deals on his own but will soon find that someone is working against him when his money and shipment are taken leaving his brother Lionel wounded he has no choice but to make other deals to satisfy his customer. Could it be his father is working against him when his father tells him he knows everything? Will he discover the plan that is being put into motion to take him down or is he being used to play a bigger part in someone's plan to take over everything? Faye is a tough, stubborn sexy woman who will not give into Dominic so easily, but the passion and desire he brings out of her will set the pace for these two to become intertwined. The relationship between them is dark, sexy and violent at times but soon Dominic learns that Faye is just as dark as he is in bed. Will she resign herself that she is falling in love with Dominic and can she break down the walls Dominic has erected around his heart to make him fall in love with her through forgiveness, trust and compassion? Can she save herself and the sister that betrayed her? Once she learns the truth that her sister is working with someone to take down Dominic, things take a turn for the worse. Can she make Dominic believe she had no part in her sister's duplicity as Dominic once again will use force to keep Faye with him as he will never give her up? Through all of the chaos and danger facing them, an intense love develops between them which maybe used to tear them apart. In order for Dominic to take his rightful place, deals are being made to take his father down with the help from his brother, but we are left with one hell of a heart-stopping ending full of betrayals, deceit, violence and murder as his men turn on him with the exception of Yuri who vows to protect both of them. Now Dominic comes face to face with the one person he never would believe would betray him.

Faye and Dominic with sheer willpower and the deep love they have for each other will fight to survive the death and destruction around them as they face their betrayers and get their revenge all due to a Vicious Vow. With Faye by his side, these two become a force to be reckoned with as Dominic deals with his associates Faye will emerge as Dominic's Queen and equal in all of is dealings. This cringe worthy story will pull you in from beginning to end as you will not be able to put this book down, it was that damn good!!! Rae you have done an exceptional job in this new genre that was dark, violent and sensual about Vicious Vows and all it entails, well done! Can't wait to see what you have in store for your readers next.

Woof..

What a doozy.. let me start off by telling you this isn't for the faint of heart.. this is dark.. please check your triggers because this author doesn't shy away there's no fade to black.. its fully open with all its ugly

Faye, 24, innocence dripping off of her has a twin Farrah who's the epitome of a selfish person who constantly makes Faye feel guilty "for not having her back." Farrah claims she's sick and begs Faye to go on a date for her because she can't cancel it. Of course she goes and boy was that a mistake. As soon as she realizes the mess she unknowingly gets herself in, she begs Dominic to hear her out that she's not who he thinks she is.. of course he doesn't believe her until the damage is already done.

Dominic, idk if his age was mentioned is the heir? to his father's business, and in order to come into his inheritance, he must marry and have a child. Well he doesn't want either of those so his best choice is to marry as a business transaction with Farrah.. and let me tell you there is no love lost with him for Farrah he does not like her. Once he realizes the switch he's pissed and rightfully so. But now he and Faye must play a role in order to fool his father into believing Faye is Farrah or death be knocking real soon.

Wow this is a great book it held me captive... pun intended.. the entire way through. Omg what a doormat Faye was especially to her sister.. but the growth she had throughout this book was amazing she grew into herself and grew a strong backbone.. which to be honest if she didn't she would have been toast especially with Dominic.
Ugh where to even begin with Dominic... boy did I hate him 80% of this book.. id hate him... then start to like him then immediately hate him again and then REALLY REALLY hate him. His grovel needs some improvement BUT he did grovel and he did accept Faye's punishment for the brutality he caused her all because he had a knack for acting without thinking. His growth was also really good to see and I'm glad for how both came together when needed... ok now for the twist.. holy bananas on rice I didn't see that coming I tried to think of who was the one to betray I picked wrong so thank you Rae for surprising me it was very pleasant.

This was my first book from this author and it won't be my last for sure.

Oh my goodness, where do I even start with this book? It's like jumping on a roller coaster that only goes faster and more twisty as you scream through the pages. We're thrown into the depths of a dark mafia romance that's not just about the steamy moments (although, let me tell you, those are perfectly penned and had me fanning myself more than once), but also about the raw and gritty journey of love, respect, and trust.

Enter Faye and Farrah, twin sisters who are as different as night and day. Faye is the embodiment of innocence and quiet strength, while Farrah... well, she's a whirlwind of rebellion. The twist of fate that has Faye replacing Farrah on a date with the formidable Dominic Lockley had me yelling at my book, "Girl, run!" But, of course, she doesn't, and thank goodness for that, or we wouldn't have this deliciously torturous tale.

Dominic, oh Dominic. I spent the entire book with a love-hate relationship towards him, leaning heavily on the hate. He's all brooding intensity and commanding presence, ready to take over his father's empire with a wife and heir in tow. His journey from a man who wouldn't know compassion if it hit him in the face to someone who is utterly overwhelmed by Faye is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Their banter? Gold. Their chemistry? Off the charts. And the evolution of their love? It's the kind that's forged in fire, tempered with patience, and sealed with a fierce determination that had me rooting for them despite my initial reservations.

If you're in the mood for a book that grabs you by the collar and doesn't let go until you've turned the last page, then this is it. Be prepared for action, danger, plot twists you won't see coming, and moments so steamy they'll leave you breathless. Just remember to keep a fan handy, because you're going to need it.

Please be warned — there is triggering content in this book that may be disturbing to some readers.

Tropes: Mafia romance, dark romance, arranged marriage, forced proximity, secret identity, evil twin, enemies-to-lovers, virgin heroine.

Rae B Lake does not disappoint! Farrah and Faye are twin sisters who are complete opposites. Faye is the good sister who only sees the good in everyone and regardless of how they treat her, if they are family, she loves them. Farrah is something else (very selfish and only thinks of herself) and is in some deep trouble with some of the mafia families. She is more than a little loose and has been with many men. Because of a past incident, Farrah always makes Faye feel like she must do anything Farrah says and is able to talk her into going on a date in her place. Dominic Lochley is a crime lord – he is brutal, and vicious. He is trying to prove to his father he can take over and he needed to be married and have an heir.

Due to Farrah’s nefarious acts, she is in debt and to pay off the debt, she must marry Dominic and provide an heir. After this, she is free to leave. Only instead of Farrah showing up, Faye is in her place. Let the fun begin. Faye has no idea what she is in for – she is innocent and too trusting. Dominic has no idea that Faye is not Farrah and had no idea that Farrah even had a twin. When the truth comes out, Dominic feels bad for how he treated Faye, but is also mad that he has been duped. As the days go by, Dominic and Faye start to have real feelings for each other and grow closer each day. Someone is out to destroy Dominic and will do anything to bring him down. Will Dominic and Faye be able to get through this? Or will the betrayers go too far? Deception, betrayal, secrets and truths had me locked in from page 1.

"I don't want this. I don't want my father's empire. I did but that was before you. That was before I saw that there was more than just this bullshit. I want you, and I'm scared to death that you'll end up being just like everyone else and this is all just another game to break me down."
- Dominic

Faye is the innocent, good twin who lives a very simple and laid back lifestyle. She's never been in trouble with the law, never needed to be disciplined by her parents as a child, and has always followed the rules. Her twin sister, Farrah, is the exact opposite. She's always been in trouble wherever she goes, especially with the law, even serving time. Farrah blames Faye for her time served, manipulating Faye to believe that she needs to make it up to Farrah. By doing so, Faye finds herself on a date with Dominic Lochley, the son of a mafia boss, trying to expand his own empire. Unfortunately for Faye, this is more than just some basic dinner and an interactive play. Faye signed her life away the day she walked into Dominic's home as Farrah.

Dominic is the son of a mafia boss. He is tough as nails and brutal beyond recognition. He's known for his temper and enforcing. He cannot inherit his father's empire unless he meets his father's conditions: marry and produce an heir for their empire. Dominic chose Farrah because she was in debt to him and knew his way of life. Easy peasy, right? Anything is far from easy when you're living the mafia lifestyle, including trusting anyone - even family.

When Dominic discovers Farrah's deception using Faye, will Faye's life be in danger? Will Dominic and Faye be able to overcome their personal obstacles amongst the mafia lifestyle dangers? Will the disloyalty of family cause the destruction of their relationship, Dominic's expanding empire, and Dominic's network connections? Will love conquer the black heart of a mafia prince who's been destined to rule alone?

Vicious Vows is a fast paced read with lots of action, a plot full of twists and turns, and plenty of spice. Faye is an extremely lovable main character who has a lot to overcome. Dominic is the main character that you have a love-hate relationship with throughout the book, a roller coaster of feelings. If you're looking for an enemies to lovers read with all the crime, disloyalty, and mystery in between, this is the book to pick up.

Don’t start this if you don’t have the time because you will be upset with yourself especially if you must put it down for a moment. We have a good twin and not so good twin who always guilt trip the good one to do things she wants or doesn’t want to do for herself. Faye is such a sweetheart has always been okay with following the rules, lives simply, stays in her lane for the most part and never really gave her parents any trouble. Now her twin Farrah is a hurricane on two legs everywhere she goes she leaves a little of herself behind and not in a good way serving time and when she goes back the second time she guilt trip her sister making her believe it is her fault she served time (not sure how she convince her of this) and talked her into going on a blind date with little information of who she is heading out to date. This is a fast-paced dark and twisted steamy, enemies to lovers romance between Dominic and Faye that captures your attention right from the very beginning. In order for him to get his inheritance and take over his father's business Dominic needs a wife and an heir. Faye is tricked by her twin sister Farrah who lead her to believe that she was going on a blind date. When it turns out that Faye was taking her twin sister Farrah's place marrying Dominic a dangerous crime boss who takes his vows seriously. Dominic isn't the kind of man you can reason with and he doesn't want to hear excuses. Without apology Dominic takes what he wants brutally, completely, viciously her innocence was torn from her. All to consummate a marriage that Faye was never supposed to be part of now she's his til death do them part. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this fast-paced dark and twisted steamy, enemies to lovers romance full of abuse, action, betrayal, danger, enemies, family, intrigue, lies, secrets and twists and turns that keep you turning the pages to see what's going to happen next. I would recommend reading this book.

What can I say I love the way this author doesn't shy away from the dark side..she just has a way of bringing the brutal to not only the Alpha male but also the heroine.
The fact that these things are pretty much jumped into with the first few chapters is a testament to this author she gave a play by play where some authors would skip over for a tamer version. This is one reason why I will always come back to reading anything that Rae would write because not everything needs to be sweet and don't get me wrong Dominic was sweet but when he is brought up the way he was he is going to be jaded and on guard and we see the constant struggle he has with his judgement aswell as controlling his anger.
Now this may not be everyone's cup of tea but seriously how much more warning can an author give when it's labelled on the first few pages of triggers...if you are able to read the book you are able to read that. Don't complain, be concious of what you can handle it isn't up to the author to accommodate your needs, it is up to you.
Great book can not praise it enough and if I could would give more than 5 stars.

The book starts with a violent scene, so please read the trigger warning before reading. If those triggers don't bother you, you will enjoy the story. Faye is literally thrown into the burning flames of Hades when she decides to help her sister out. But as we read we do see Faye change from the tamed lamb to someone who will be able to survive and thrive in Dominic's world. And we also see Dominic - the man who will shoot first and ask questions later - soften for her. Although the beginning is slow and it takes a while for these two and us as readers to find our footing, there are twists that we don't see coming that makes this story an enjoyable read. So if you can get past the triggers, give this book a try.

Faye and Dominic should never have been married, but her identical twin sister guilted her into taking her place at a party. So many lies, secrets, betrayals, and unbelievable cruelty is what makes up her new world. Faye is an innocent, a sweet woman who deserves so much more. Dominic is a crime lord surrounded by tough men, willing women, and treats his new wife like a liar, a loose woman, and someone he could never trust.

Their journey to love, respect, and trust is extremely difficult. Forgiveness, understanding, and compassion are foreign concepts for Dom, but Faye’s patience, her inner light, and her fierceness overwhelms his anger, his distrust, and his desperate desire to claim her seals his soul. I loved their banter, their chemistry was beyond hot, and their love grew out of sheer determination.

Dark and Twisted, But Not Quite What I Expected

I was excited to dive into this story by Rae B. Lake, as she's a new author to me in the dark romance world. The premise hooked me: Faye is deceived by her twin, Farrah, and thrown into a world of chaos, becoming the unexpected bride of mafia boss Dominic. While Dominic was vicious, as you'd expect, I felt he wasn’t as calculating as he should have been for a mafia boss. Farrah, on the other hand, was pure evil, and my heart went out to Faye, though she forgave Dominic too easily in my opinion. Personally, I would’ve chosen myself over him—no amount of love is worth that level of betrayal. One big takeaway: make sure you read the disclaimer on page 4. Your mental health matters!

Okay so this might be my first Hear Me Out of the year 😂

So because the characters are written the way they are…I feel like this might be the most accurate mafia romance I’ve read?

That being said, the FMC does %100 act like a doormat BUT it fits with the character and the situation. Meaning, her character is annoyingly trusting and annoyingly caring…BUT it clashes with very nicely with the MMC.

The MMC is a brute and his choices and his words are annoying, but he’s a man so I felt like I was inside a man’s brain and it wasn’t the most pleasant thing on the planet but (again) it fit the situation and character.

There is moments when I wanted to smack both of them, but they both redeemed themselves to me because they’re to loving and caring people trapped in a situation with evil people with evil intentions…

*Sigh*

This was also the first book this year that is NOT a reread so yay!

Vicious Vows by Rae B. Lake
Faye and Farrah are twin sisters, Farrah has lived a wild life and Faye is the quiet one. Farrah talks Faye into taking her place on a date when she says she is sick, Faye falls for it but it is not just a date. Dominic Lochley wants a wife and child so he can take over his father's business. This is one great story and I just loved this book. There is so much happening in this story, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some are a little hard to read but I just cried through it. I Highly recommend this book and this one is moving up to my number one spot. Please check pot the disclaimer for this book before you get it. Vicious Vows is a very dark enemies to lovers romance. Faye is the sweet innocent twin while her sister Farrah is the vile opposite. She is constantly proving to Faye that she cannot trust her, but being the innocent and loyal sister that she is, she always gives her another chance. One more act of trust leads Faye into a den of vicious criminals, killers to be exact, and the man that would become the love of her life, Dominic Lochaley. The fight for their HEA is vicious and filled with betrayals, twists, suspense, steamy romance, a lot of underworld violence, and intense drama, which is why I could not put it down and read the book in one sitting!.
