When the survivors of the summer massacre in Budapest are forced to go to Brussels, they will learn the hard way that the final chapter of a Slasher Trilogy always goes back to the beginning.
“Either we keep going and survive, or we think about the deaths and allow ourselves to feel and fall deep down into blackness.”
This book (the entire series, really) was the most fun, most high-energy slasher I have read. It’s reminiscent of some of the best slasher movies out there, IMO: think SCREAM meets URBAN LEGENDS with some I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and that’s what you’ve got here. A seemingly never-ending dose of unaliving and running and finding out some legends never die, sometimes they shift, multiply, surprise and break you a little inside… this final book will lead you on the chase of a lifetime.
This book is the epic conclusion to the Europea Halls trilogy. Well written with twists and turns which make you completely hooked on the story. I could not figure out how it was going to end. Great slasher/horror references and scenes. It is obvious that the author has a passion for this topic and it is well researched.
What a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy that has had me gripped from start to finish! Europea Halls 3 has all the fresh, fast-paced, super dark (and at times deliciously, imaginatively gruesome) storytelling of the first two books, but this time round it’s all intertwined with the much-loved tropes that come into play in a slasher franchise’s final movie. Cue all the final girl vibes, a return to where it all began, and a screen worthy end confrontation!
I was super invested in the surviving characters by this point; there was a deep sense of how far they had come to survive, the personal journeys they had been on. I really appreciated their incredible, yet very real feeling resilience, and how the mental health impact of their experiences was handled with sensitivity. I just couldn’t imagine where the final reveal would take me. No spoilers of course (it’s so hard to write a review of a series without giving anything away, isn’t it?) but the threads of the overarching mystery running through the trilogy are brilliantly drawn together.
What a rollercoaster of a ride this trilogy has been! I can’t wait to see what Alan Shivers writes next.
Thank you to the author for my arc – all views are my own 😊
The survivors from the horrors inflicted in Budapest are forced out of hiding and back to Brussels. Back to Europea Halls, back to the beginning of it all, no rules, no one is safe, who survives?
Wow! What a finale! The chase scenes are more intense and relentless, the deaths are more brutal and visceral and finally we find out the truth. Each chapter told in the voice of each character as before, but this time including the parental voices. It is hard hitting in its portrayal of the impact of trauma, loss, grief, fear, anger and sheer bloody mindedness. Incredible LGBTQIA+ representation and throughout this tapestry of terror is the power of family.
This trilogy takes the best of Urban Legend, Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer then twists and subverts it into a stunning cinematic vista of visual horror which shocks you with its cacophony of cruelty and malevolence. What a movie franchise this would make! A heart stopping ending, (that I did not see coming), to a thrilling trilogy. Spectacular!
There are some books that just tickle your heartstrings and this entire series has been among those that do just that. They’re fun reads that pay homage to 80s and 90s slashers with queer representation. I didn’t go into these trying to predict the ending, though much of the story involves the main character(s) trying to figure out the killer’s identity. I can say that I didn’t guess the killer in the end, just like the protagonist in the book.
I definitely recommend reading this entire series to figure out who all survives and who all dies. As far as books inspired by the use of tropes goes, these simply excel. It is one of the few books that I loved all of the characters in each book (even the ones I loved to hate in the end)! The book releases May 1st of 2024, while I was given an arc, my opinions are my own.
Honestly I know a book has become one of my favorites when I can’t put it down. As I started the trilogy I wanted to know so bad who the killer is and Why, but I also didn’t want to find out who else was going to die.
The main character Liv, who only the closest of people are allowed to call her and since I have PTSD because of her trauma I feel I can call her Liv, loses so many people she loves. You want to cheer for her on every page and cry for her on the next page. Alan Shivers has one a new fan in me because I can’t wait to read his next book. But I need a few days to just recover from how much I loved Europea Halls and wish it wasn’t over.
More successful than the second one but never really reaches the highs of the first one. Still a decent ending for a really fun trilogy. I expected the ending battle to be more climactic.
The final installment of Alan Shiver's 'Europea Halls 3' is a heart-pounding, twisted, and deeply personal conclusion to the ‘Europea Halls’ trilogy - welcome to act three! Six months after the Budapest massacre, Liv is in hiding, but the killer will stop at nothing to find and destroy everything and everyone she truly loves - because that’s just what you do when you’re a deranged serial killer!
Dear Alan Shiver, how dare you take me on this crazy emotional roller coaster ride with the 'Europea Halls' series, I mean seriously, who needs that much stress in their life, the reveal and twist left me speechless, the killings were not just gruesome but also super personal, I mean come on, no one is safe, not even the final girl, what kind of monster does that?
What I love about Alan Shiver's books is that he grabs the slasher movie trope, gives it a good shake, and says 'Screw the rules, I'm doing this instead!' The result is a wild, bloody ride with characters that are as dramatic as they are fun and likable, creative killings, an unstoppable killer, and a plot twist that will take you right back to the beginning.
As I said before, Alan Shiver is this new era slasher book king and his ‘Europea Halls’ trilogy proves my point. Go support him and read these books that are inspired by classic slasher films such as ‘Scream’, ‘Halloween’ & ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, your sanity might not thank you but your inner horror fan will!
This is book three in an amazing slasher series by @alanshiversauthor and I've been so lucky to have read all three now! As you can see, the cover has been changed as well and it looks even more appealing!
As it is with slashers, it all comes back to the beginning - the place it has to end. The survivors come together to face evil one more time, hopefully to end it once and for all. I won't give any more details as I don't want to spoil the fun - get your own copy and enjoy the thrilling ride!
The author has surprised me with the first two books in this slasher series and he most definitely did not disappoint with this brilliant conclusion. While reading this series I was constantly painting a picture in my head and that's only possible because of how it's written. The attention to detail regarding the story and the characters provides for an absolute thrilling experience while enjoying this novel. It's filled with suspense and scares with some horribly gruesome deaths keeping you completely glued to the pages.
Again, thanks to the author for being so generous to provide me with a copy of the book. I absolutely enjoyed reading it!
First off I would like to say please don’t eat will reading this book because you will become nauseous while reading the final instalment of the Europea halls series.
This book was an amazing ending to a nail biting series you don’t want to stop reading. The way that the author describes everything is in detail but not enough just to keep you guessing. But also detailed enough I was regretting reading some parts of it on public transport. I will not tell you much of the plot because I don’t want to spoil the first parts in this series but it ends beautifully wrapped in a bow. Though I could have gone without the eye part. Did the theories that I had were correct, of course not because that makes good storytelling. Even though I am still nauseous I will be continuing to follow this author. Because even I will never be a true horror reader I do like it sometimes and this series did awaken something whit-in me.
WHAT A CONCLUSION! I've always been a huge fan of slashers (both books and films) and The Europea Halls trilogy hits the spot. There's a lot of pressure when it comes to the final chapter (Act Three, whatever you want to call it). So many film franchises have let us down with their third installments. However, Alan Shivers does no such thing. Usually, the body count dips in the third act - not in this book! Not only that, but the kills are more imaginative too (speaking of which, remind me never to play pool again!). Shivers shows us how slasher trilogies are supposed to be done. This trilogy is an ode to slashers. I suspected most characters, and did not guess the ending, even a little bit. If you're a fan of 90s camp slashers, this is the trilogy for you. Bonus points for mental health representation in a way that shows the characters are strong, not weak because of their struggles. There's also some fantastic queer rep that isn't forced - it reads beautifully.
When I first started E.H book one I wasn’t sure it would be for me but it quickly had me hooked. When 2 came along I was more than happy to get it and wow it was worth it. Now the final book 3 has not only got me hooked but by far is the perfect way for A.Shivers to finish his Europea Halls trilogy in a very well paced and well written way that not only shows the growth of the author but also the love of his story. This one brings the survivors back to where it all began with the unique and fun way of first person narrative that only breaths life into each character even if it’s the lasts breaths they will take. Who will survive if any, read it to find out… For me this trilogy is something I will definitely have to pick up physical versions of to add to my collection. Looking forward to see what comes next from the spooky mind of the talented Alan Shivers.

Part 3 in this amazing slasher trilogy was just as good as the first two! And I have to say, I was genuinely shocked by the twist! It makes me want to go back to book one and read it again because I must have missed something. So so good. The gore was top notch as well, with many new ways of dying. Some were absolutely horrific, I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemies! This was a fantastic ending the series, and I can’t wait to see what Alan comes up with next!
I absolutely loved it! I’ve read a lot of slasher books and while the first one wasn’t my favorite, I’m so happy I kept reading. The second book was great and then the third book was out of this world.
It’s rare that you get to see how the trauma effects the final girl in slasher books or movies, but this did a great job of showing that.
The chase scenes were just as amazing as the other two books and the author writes the chase scene better than any author I’ve read. You’re involved. Every time you’re hoping they make it out.
I was nervous about the ending at first. Then I realized it wasn’t the money, it was the family. The killer reveal was a 6/10 for me, but Act three as a whole completely made up for it.
I love this author and really hope we get some more slashers from him. You my friend, have done every slasher fan proud ❤️

I have loved reading the Europea Halls slasher trilogy. Alan did an incredible job on writing the conclusion it was beautifully written and has great slasher references. The chase scene were incredible and the deaths got more brutal and gruesome throughout the series. It was a fun read and it provided a had thrilling experience for the reader. It has 90s slasher vibes and amazing LGBTQIA+ and mental health representation . It keeps you constantly guessing and was a dark and twisted read and it has very descriptive writing and hits hard with trauma , loss and grief. Overall it read beautifully. I’m looking forward to seeing what Alan Shiver’s comes up with next
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you enjoy campy, 90’s slasher vibes, like the Scream franchise, you will most likely enjoy this trilogy.
I’ve had a great time reading this series and it’s bittersweet that it’s come to an end, but it all happened so fast so I don’t feel completely satisfied.
The gore definitely went up a few notches, which was great, but I felt like there was too much conversations happening and not enough action.
The twist was interesting, but again, it happened way too fast so it was hard to take it all in.
This trilogy was so fun. It was a slasher in which the characters openly discussed how to survive a slasher. The characters were a bit immature but they were teens/early early 20’s so it wasn't quite a big deal. There was a lot of representation in this trilogy. The final girl was a lesbian and her friend who survived was Ace. There was an Ace detective and a few bisexual characters. The conversations around sexuality were always educational and non combative. Alot of people died and there were some excellent kills (if you like horror then you know how I mean that). The end wasn't half bad. Motive could have been a bit better but at least it wasn't trite. I did not see the final killer coming which I enjoy (even if it means I am unobservant). I always hate guessing the end before I am done. All in all not a bad little trilogy. Each book was a quick read less than 300 pages.
You know maybe I don’t need to finish every book I start? Full disclosure I was given an ARC of this book. But I’m going to be honest this series had some of the worst dialogue I’ve ever read. I’ve had better discourse with my 20 year old cat.
The only thing that kept this from being a one star was that by the end of the book — I was page turning to see the final reveal of the killer. Ending felt rushed, deaths were lame, and I’m glad this series is finally over for me.
Fun little trilogy. By book one and two I was excited that the characters were referencing other horror movies to try and outsmart the killer with their movie knowledge. (If I wrote a book in this genre I'd hop on that train of thought.) This last book in the series had a little too much Ace referencing. There wasn't really a point to that aside from giving the character depth, was there? Overall a happy ending. Or is it..?
Probably my least favourite of the series but I still enjoyed it, I just wish the conclusion was a bit more satisfying. It was a little slower compared to the other two books as well. I loved how complex our characters were and I think the author did a fenomenal job of building and fleshing out their personalisties up until the end. I also appreciate the different cultures and sexualities this series includes, it definitely makes you feel seen as a person.
At this point I would read anything by this author and I can't wait for them to come up with new stories.
Another fun addition to the Europea Halls series that I flew through this weekend! I think I preferred the other two but it still brought the fun camp vibes of the rest of the series. This one got very inventive with the deaths which was fun. The ending was quite fast and I would’ve liked a bit more closure to the series but all in all a good thriller!!!
We keep going to survive. I absolutely loved this book Infact I loved all three. Sadly all good things must come to an end. I read this a while ago and my review never showed so I wanted to make sure I came back and left one. When you’re reading the last book of a trilogy and you know it’s the end, to me it’s sad. I cannot wait to see what works he has in the future.
I started it and couldn’t stop, AGAIN, just like the first two installments of this nonstop slasher trilogy! I was happy to see more from the parents’ perspective in this one, which was perfect as it all tied together and wrapped up. This one didn’t disappoint!!
This YA horror slasher trilogy has been such a fun time from start to finish! Europea Halls is one of those stories that feels like it’s flying under the radar but deserves so much more.
I loved reading every instalment in this trilogy and whilst I’m sad to see it end, the author did a fantastic job with the grand finale!
If Alan Shivers knows how to do anything, he knows how to write some absolutely brutal killing scenes. As with previous books, we’ve got murders from the very beginning of the book and mark my words: nobody is safe.
I highly recommend these books if you’re looking for a fun, dark, twisty trilogy!
