Tara's Fortune

Rate this book
Tara Flynn has come a long way since she was a little girl growing up in the village of Ballygrace. Now mistress of Ballygrace House, the beautiful mansion overlooking the Tullamore countryside, Tara has everything she's always wanted - security, a beautiful home, and the love of a good man. But the Irish have an expression - 'the two days', meaning good and bad fortune. Tara may have everything she's ever dreamed of, but can she hold on to it? In Stockport, Tara's dear friend Biddy has problems of her own. She too has escaped a troubled past and built a new life. But when her husband is seriously injured, Biddy must once again begin taking care of herself. As Tara's half-sister arrives at her boarding-house, Biddy realises she'll need eyes in the back of her head if she's to keep both Angela and herself out of trouble ...

The things you end up reading in a pandemic! I had hopes this would be a soppy romance, but no. At the beginning, it seemed to me that Tara was overdoing her hatred of her ex-boyfriend and too gushy about her happiness with husband Gabriel. So I was sure she'd end up realising she'd made the wrong choice at some point.

But no, Tara is just a prissy girl who can never forgive the ex for hiding the fact he wasn't divorced yet. And I soon realised that, being a wholesome Irish Catholic story, it would never be acceptable for her to leave Gabriel anyway.

It is a really nice English but mostly Irish girls yarn. Slightly goth. Pity about some typos and a storyline mistake but otherwise very warm. Funny how times were different then.

I was almost gonna give it 4 🌟, except Tara really pissed me off towards the end with her demeanor towards her friends...and the story ended very flat

Very nice sequel to Tara Flynn, with some surprising twists and turns. Can't believe I didn't see the big one at the end coming! I feel quite dense. Very enjoyable though. I think I might actually like the sequel better than the first book.

A really good read and nice story set in the UK and Ireland. Realized quite early on that I was actually reading a sequel but the book stands alone so it wasn't a problem, in fact I will look out for this author's first book; I think it is called Tara Flynn.
