The honeymoon is over for Poet and Kade. After a blissful week off from the day-to-day grind of the circus—where the only problem they had to deal with was the weird snake that appeared on the front porch of their cabin—the newlyweds are back with their friends in Phoenix.
And nothing will ever be the same again.
Phoenix is a city run by a slither of lamia, and even though Raven tries to maintain her distance from them each year when the circus rolls around, that’s not really an option this time. The slither is now being run by her father and brother…and they have a favor to ask of their long-estranged daughter and sister.
It seems the slither is cursed. Not only can they not procreate, but it also appears they’re constantly being attacked by mummies that only have destruction on their minds.
Lamia have been around for thousands of years and yet they’re in danger of dying out…forever. Only Poet and crew can help them. But is that what’s in Raven’s best interests?
Raven has made a point to keep her family secrets…well, secret. Now she has a decision to make. She either has to help Poet save her people, or say goodbye to the past that continuously haunts her.
What decision will she make? And when the enemy becomes clear, who will have the strength to fight them?
The battle lines are about to be drawn.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Another great paranormal mystery

I truly love this series. Poet and Raven are strong willed women who know what they want and don't let anyone or anything get in their way. I truly hope every member of the circus find their happy ending.

There's no happy ending here.

The Mystic Caravan Circus members are a family, dysfunctional at times yes, but still there for each other, of course they also have their birth families. Max the Circus owner who is Kade's father, Poet whose parents died when she was young (but she does still have an uncle she recently reconnected with) Nixie and Nadia the pixie twins. Some of them appear to have no one and never speak of family one such is Raven the Lamia. Raven has been alive for thousands of years and from things she has let slip it seems she has been alone all.that time but things are about to be revealed. The Circus is in Phoenix a city they rarely visit and are surprised to learn that there is a large population of Lamia's in the city (and has been for some time) not only that but Raven has known of the existence of this Lamia slither (the group's name) as well as the fact that her uncle and cousin are in charge.................................. No problem these secrets are Raven's to keep or share but Poet being Poet can't resist poking her nose in and No one will be happy at what unfolds....................

This is my favorite Amanda Lee series

I am a fan of Amanda Lee and enjoy her books very miuch but I would have to say that the Mystic Caravan series is by far my favorite. The characters are well developed and have become like old friends. The author seems very knowledgeable on myths and legends and the plots are always incredibly intriguing. The setting this time9 is Phoenix, Arizona where the circus members become aware that there is a problem with venomous snake bites. After being bitten, those unfortunate people are disappearing and no one knows where. They d startedyelling that a slither of lamias calls Phoenix their home, and the slither is aware that the circus is populated by a band of exceptional paranormals. I'm always sorry to come to the end of the book. Looking forward to the next one.

This must've been one of the authors best written books for this series, I was pleasantly surprised. She didn't rehash the usual synopsis in the beginning of the book, only took her 18 books to realize she doesn't need to tell us what we already know - ha!
The story line was very seamless and we finally got the back story on Raven and the main event was definitely different than ones in the past. It felt like a refreshing change from the past stories. Although, it still follows the same M.O. of the story line where the group goes to a location and their is a crime or problem to solve, I suppose that's never going to change.
Poet is showing some growth in this story and Baron is becoming a regular while Max is pretty much on his way out, because we didn't even see him in this book.
Overall I am more excited for the next chapter now after reading this book!

entertaining paranormal cozy mystery urban fantasy series

This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery/urban fantasy series. Great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Port Parker is the manager of a mystical. Many of her group are supernaturals other than the clowns and most of the midway workers. They travel the country going to different towns set up their circus and draw an evil Paranormal and or humans in the area. They usually deal with the paranormal beings themselves and have to deal with the evil humans as well. This time they are on their way to Phoenix Arizona one of their last stops on their final year tour. There seems to be a problem in Phoenix. Read and see what kind of adventure poet and the rest of the game can get into.

Intriguing learning more about the lamia - or at least the group that Raven came from - as well as another type of paranormal, a new type. As always, Baron makes an appearance (he’s such a delight).
OTOH, have to wonder if this was quickly written to meet a deadline or if the author is just getting bored with the characters. Poet was acting way too much like Luke for comfort, and Luke was much more extreme than usual - it’s hard to picture someone that extremely self-centered and childish having an adult job and an adult relationship. He’s become kind of a cartoon stereotype of a character rather than anything real.

Love the book… Amanda M Lee is the best paranormal writer

I not only read this series but I have read the covent college , the Midwest witch series , the spell riders , the Charlie Rhodes and stormy series, the aisleing grim series , the death gate series that continues with grim reaper series with Izzy , and also the moonstone bay series…and all the books are page turning.. and charters are sarcastic lovable. Stories are action packed with good people who might’ve tough but have a great heart

Awesome series!

I love this series. The characters are unique individuals that form an amazing team. I hope the adventures continue when they relocate to Moon stone Bay. I appreciate the way Ms. Lee keeps her characters involved through other series. I am never completely ready for a series to end so her efforts to include the old with the new is greatly appreciated. I love the mix of humor as Poet and her crew take care of business on each new adventure. Please keep these wonderful books coming.

A fast paced read.

We finally learn about the mysterious Raven’s past, and the family she left. A very interesting mystery, and a well played ending concerning the antagonist of the book. Raven’s father and brother are unbelievable. Really wished they’d gotten a more fitting comeuppance, but, never say never. Still no Moonstone Bay, but their deadline is getting closer, so, yah! Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

Freaky for the win!

I have to say, this is one of my favorite series of Amanda M. Lee’s.
It is so full of personalities, large, small and delusional that it keeps the pace at top speed and antics abound.
The background is almost as delicious as the characters and the meals they are constantly eating. (Giggling)

Absolutely family friendly for all ages and yes, there are tough situations described but that’s life. I am definitely adding this to my collection because I frequently revisit Poet and the crew.

Loved this one!

I loved the opening chapter! Kade has definitely shown a new side of himself that I didn't think he'd have! Time for change is coming and with this many crossovers going on I'm hoping with fingers crossed that we'll eventually get one huge series with everyone!! I absolutely love this world that's been created. Found families are sometimes better and Poet has definitely found her family! I'll be eagerly waiting for the next book!

This is really the only series by Lee that I continue to keep up with. Most of the series seem to be a clone of each other. Luke was particularly way over the top in this one and Poet seemed to be drinking the kool-aid. I'm not certain what was going on. Even Kade was way too childish - dancing around the parking lot in case there was a snake somewhere nearby? It was nice to get more background on Raven though.

3.5 but I rounded down because of Luke.

This was a really great plot, but unfortunately whiny Luke had to ruin the book with all his tantrum pitching. I really wish there was a way to delete all his dialogue from the ebooks he’s in. He adds nothing to the story whatsoever. His character could be a really sexy shifter guy but no, we get an immature man baby. Why Cole is matched with him is beyond me.

so good!

Great description of this locale. As usual, a fantastic story, and more layers to the interrelationships between characters, both old and new. I’m fairly sure the ending was not an homage to Star Trek. Still, it made me even happier, on top of an already eminently satisfying conclusion. Chef’s Kiss. 😚

Ravens story

How and why did Raven leave her family and end up with Mystic Circus? Poet has always wondered and now as they arrive in Phoenix Ravens story will unfold for all to see, but how will the reserved and at time scary lamia feel about sharing her story and even more reconnecting with those she left behind a thousand years ago??

Poet and the gang end up in Arizona of all dry places. Where they run into someones family believe it or not and just how to handle them is the focus until they find out that they are a target. Then things change and they have to keep everyone safe so they have to make some difficult decisions. Read the book to find out the whole story.

Supernatural fantasy

Mystic Caravan is in Phoenix and Poet and Kade have just returned from their honeymoon. Usually their stops in Arizona aren't too eventful but this last trip is very different. Raven has unfinished business with her family. The lamia slither is under attack and humans are being bitten by snakes and disappearing.

I love Amanda M. Lee's books. Especially this series. Not giving away details of the book. However, Poet Parker, and Mystic Caravan, had their work cut out for them. As usual. I love the snark. I adore how they love each other, and are family, even when they might want to throttle Luke. I highly recommend this series.

Slithering snakes

This was another fun read from the Mystic Caravan. I enjoy the multiple story lines that happen with each book. Not all the ends get tied up, but the gist is there. This book allowed us to learn more about Raven who has always been an interesting character. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Lamia Madness

Raven gets to deal with her family and a cursr on them with help from Poet, Kade, Cole, Percival and the rest of Mystic Circus.

Plenty of action, plot, and snarky dialog.

Eagerly awaiting the next book!

I love this whole series. It’s fun the way they are constantly encountering new and different creatures. And the growth of Poets powers, along with the development of the team’s creative strategizing, results in some unexpected resolutions

Freaky Ways ( A Mystic Caravan Mystery) #18

I so love this author's series. Totally enjoy all her storytelling and her awesome characters. The way she started blending the characters into each others definitely makes for great ideas for future stories.

I enjoyed this one

Interestingly, one of the bits in this series I enjoy most is the incidental readings Poet gives during the circus. Her little counseling sessions with the "askholes", and the people who just can't see an option. I also like her finding A way to save the victim.

No excitement

I have grown to love the characters in this series. If not, this installment would have been very boring. I hate it when leaf characters are left out of the storyline.
