Daily Chronological Bible: KJV Edition

Rate this book
Stories are basic to life. Everybody loves a good story. We have been reading, listening to, or watching stories all of our lives, so we intuitively know a lot about how they work. Yet, more and more, Christians are unfamiliar with the stories of the Bible and how the grand narrative of God’s Word fits together. Indeed, God gave us the stories of the Bible to reveal great truth about Himself and about our lives, and He wants to draw us into the ongoing story of what He is doing in the world. By focusing on the narrative framework of Scripture we can better understand what the Bible teaches and live out its instruction more effectively.

The Daily Chronological Bible: KJV Edition presents the Bible in a narrative approach, utilizing a brand new, fresh chronological reading plan.  It presents Scripture in three easy-to-remember main acts and seventeen total scenes, providing an introduction for each act and scene to orient the reader to its importance in the grand story.  Unlike other chronological Bibles, this arrangement is not date specific, so a person can begin using this edition at any point in the calendar year.

• You’ll find it easy to stay on schedule due to the 52-week reading plan (six readings a week)

• You’ll get a better view of the God’s grand story because the Bible is divided into three easy-to-remember acts—
Act 1: God’s Plan for All People
Act 2: God’s Covenant People
Act 3: God’s New Covenant People

• With the entire Bible is composed of seventeen scenes helping readers understand how the smaller parts (scenes) of the story fit with the larger (acts).

• An introduction is provided for each act and scene to orient the reader to the importance of that act or scene in the grand story.

Today I finished reading the KJV Daily Chronological Bible. This Bible is arranged into acts and scenes. Arranged chronologically according to the judgment of the editors.

Act I, Scene 2, The Fall
Act I, Scene 3, The Flood

Act II God's Covenant People

Act II, Scene 1, The People
Act II, Scene 2, Deliverance
Act II, Scene 3, The Sinai Covenant and Law
Act II, Scene 4, The Land
Act II, Scene 5, Kings and Prophets: God Shapes a Kingdom People
Act II, Scene 6, God Divides the Kingdom People
Act II, Scene 7, Kings and Prophets: The Southern Kingdom as God's People
Act II, Scene 8, Exile
Act II, Scene 9, Return

Act III God's New Covenant People

Act III, Scene 1, Christ's Coming
Act III, Scene 2, Christ's Ministry
Act III, Scene 3, Christ's Deliverance of His People: God's Work Through the Death, Resurrection, and Enthronement of the King
Act III, Scene 4, Christ's Church
Act III, Scene 5, Christ's Second Coming and Reign: God's Future for the Kingdom

The Bible tells a unified story. There is a definite BIG PICTURE to the Bible, a framework for understanding how all the parts of the Bible fit together.

This Bible encourages readers to go on a journey to understand what the Bible is saying, how it all fits together. This Bible is divided into weekly and daily readings. It is divided into fifty-two weeks. Each week has six daily readings. These are not labeled with dates and months. Just numbered. So you can begin the Bible any day of the year. And if you miss a few weeks, you can pick it back up with no shame.

The Holman Publishers have this chronological Bible in several translations. The one I read was the King James Version.

My only complaint is that it breaks words into syllables. Sam-u-el turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

It is also verse-by-verse and not paragraph by paragraph.

Reading the Bible chronologically has been absolutely transformational to my understanding of the book. This was my second time through, and reading with the narrative front and center helped me move from thinking of Bible stories in a disjointed, disconnected collection, to seeing the grand sweep of the story of God's dealings with His children, from the beginning. This was particularly impact ful for the second half of the Old Testament, from King Solomon onward, where I had never been able to construct a mental timeline to connect the stories and prophecies into any kind of whole. Chronological reading fixed that for me.

I originally bought this book because my kids wanted to read the Bible with me, and putting the narrative front and center, while still keeping the beauty of the King James language has been a fantastic introduction to Bible reading for them.

The most helpful KJV bible I have read. Daily readings make it easier to read everyday, and reading it on chronological sequence makes better understanding of the events.

Great promises from God to his people! This daily version makes reading the whole Bible in one year easy and rewarding. I like to try different versions each year and was pleased with the wording of this KJV edition.
