A learning lesson for children!, June 15, 2014

This review is from: Blue Dino Making Friends. A Dinosaur Story - Picture Book for Kids (Kindle Edition)

Blue Dino by author Aldona Hawthorne was created to allow children to understand and deal with their differences.

Blue Dino did everything to blend in with his peers. Accepting himself should have been the moral of the story.
However, my niece enjoyed the illustrations and asked: "why didn't Blue Dino accept himself'? My answer was
some children have a hard time accepting that their peers don't want to play with them.

I would have appreciated the book better if it was outlined there. I am only one person but I don't think it was answered.

The story line was clever and message was clear, however Blue Dino only felt good about himself when they all played in mud and looked alike. Another good part was when "Blue Dino's mother, said she was happy with her child either way."

Good story.

The message of this story was a good one, but it's execution wasn't done in a way that was easy for young children to understand. There were lots of grammar mistakes too, which made it difficult to read to my child. The formatting also needs work. The pictures and text didn't fit well together. Lastly, the pictures were not bad but they distracted from the story is a bad way. I don't think we will be reading this one again unless these issues are corrected.

Blue Dino is a cute story filled with darling little dinosaurs. But more importantly it also contains several valuable lessons for children. The main focus of the book is about challenges facing those that are different, and self-acceptance. It also has a lesson in good sportsmanship, and empathy for others. I think there are loads of cute picture books out there, but it was very nice to find a cute story that helps children to overcome obstacles as well!
