Tyler

Tyler, a calm and gentle soul, is set out for great things both on and off the field. As the star quarterback of Summerset Shore University’s esteemed football team, he is NFL-bound. With the perfect girlfriend by his side and a tight-knit group of friends who share his love for the game, Tyler is set for a life of success and fulfillment.

Until a new voice speaks up.

Jace

Jace, an enigmatic exchange student from Amsterdam, arrives at SSU with a bang, quickly making a name for himself as the new lead singer of the university’s favorite band.
But there’s one thing that he didn’t have in Europe and hopes to find here.
A family. A place to call home. Deep down he carries a profound sense of loneliness, yearning to discover a place to call his own.

While Tyler King would rather be enjoying life quietly from the sidelines, Jace Janssen is drawn to the spotlight like a moth to a flame. Their paths, destined to intertwine, will take them on a journey that they never saw coming.

Jace wants something he doesn't dare to hope for, while Tyler hopes for something he doesn't even know he wants.

JACE is the first book in a full-length MM trilogy romance and tells the story of a bi-awakening. It’s a strangers-to-friends-to-lovers, medium-burn, high-steam sports and rock star romance.

If you love banter, don’t mind the occasional duck wandering around in the story, and are a sucker for long love stories revolving around the same couple—including shenanigans from their loving, idiotic friends—then don’t hesitate to pick this up!

N. Boeyer

N. Boeyer grew up in a tiny country called the Netherlands. She has been bilingual since she couldn’t wait for the Dutch translations of her favorite books, so she taught herself English. This resulted in her pursuing an English education from the age of twelve, and writing stories followed shortly thereafter. Since she was a teenager, it has been her dream to be a writer, and a writer she has always been at heart.

It took her a while to accept that the pretty boys who talk way too much in her head needed a voice, and her love for queer romance grew bigger with every written word and chapter. She has finally found the guts to share her boys with the world and hopes someone out there will love them as much as she does.

Jace Janssen - the openly bisexual, magnetic, Swedish-Dutch, model/rockstar college student
Tyler King - the “straight” #1 in the USA college football quarterback who stands no chance against Jace’s magnetism.

No enemies to lovers. No jock coming out drama. Just good old-fashioned boy meets boy, boy is inexplicably drawn to other boy, boys become friends, boys explore their friendship physically, boys fall in love, with some deliciously sexy scenes thrown in to the mix.

Dialogue a little awkward. Maybe English is not a first language for this author?
Questionable phrases and word choices sometimes, veering towards casual sexism.

When I wasn’t being hypercritical of everything (like making the straight male character with the cheerleader girlfriend start all of a sudden hating all things “girly” and making every female character giggle constantly, and more), I enjoyed the characters and their genuine naturally developing relationship.

Felt like I was getting into a slumpity slump, dropping books left and right, but I actually finished this (despite being way longer than necessary), and I looked forward to getting back to it whenever I had to put it down, so it had something going for it even if I can’t pinpoint what exactly. Lol

Not me literally having kicky feet and grinning like a fool at 2am because of this book. (I also did read the acknowledgements 😏)

Now to the bread and butter of why we're here. Jace is a book about a Dutch rockstar and a California quarterback that just click together. Going it, I thought it would be angsty or hard fought, but the author has this way of allowing the reader to anticipate the angst, get all worked up, only to soothe it by promoting book-boyfriend behavior. Every time I thought "oh no...how is this going to work?", it just did.

This book is long, longer than I usually like for a romance but once it started, I completely forgot about the length and found myself wanting more book, more Jace and Ty.

Jace brings us:
🏈 Strangers to friends to lovers
🎸 a failed threesome
🏈 lots of hip movements
🎸 gay awakening/first times
🏈 the most supportive friends and family
🎸 ducks that love their "momma"

I am not sure what I was expecting from this book, but it turned out to be so sweet and wholesome while retaining realism and raw emotion. It is funny and spicy and all of the things. I don't reread books (literally ever), but I already want to read this one again.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this is my honest and voluntary opinion!🖤

Read it.
Okay bye.

Jace by N. Boeyer is book 1 in the Summerset Shore University series.

I feel like lately I've just been stumbling across excellent debuts written by really talented authors. Jace is definitely one of them, as I fell in love with N. Boeyer's writing and the two MCs in her book.

I usually stay away from slowburns and longer books, but Jace's blurb caught my eye and I decided to give it a chance. It was the best decision I could have made! The chemistry between Jace and Tyler was powerful and drew me in. They had a dynamic together that I found quite unique, with Jace flirting relentlessly with Tyler, and the latter playing along. The banter between these two was so fun and entertaining. Without realizing it, I was halfway through and hadn't even realized I hadn't stumbled into a steamy scene yet. The pull between them was enough to keep me going. I loved how Tyler's sexual awakening was handled and that he took his time to figure everything out. There was something very realistic about the way their relationship gradually transformed.

Jace and Tyler are definitely two of the most lovable MCs I've read so far. In fact, all the characters are adorable. Lamar, Tyler's teammate and best friend, made me laugh so hard with his antics. He stood out by bringing a nice dose of humor throughout the story.

This is the perfect book when you want something low-angst that will leave you feeling good. The book ends on an HFN, and yet you can feel that they'll be facing great challenges in the next one. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

A special mention for the aknowledgement at the end. Make sure you don't skip it because it's hilarious! We have N. Boeyer's husband to thank for this laugh out loud moment! 🤣

This was a very nice debut novel and I'm sure I will read the following books because I want to know more about Jace and Tyler.
I adored Jace: his sunshine personality, his flirting, his talent, I loved how he was always careful to not cross any boundaries, how he always asked Ty if he was making him uncomfortable. I loved how his relationship with his father and all his former band drama didn't make him bitter or resentful, but he bravely moved away and kept chasing his dreams.
Tyler is a sweetheart: caring, honest, humble, dedicated to football and determined to have a plan B by getting his degree. He's a good friend, son and he never acts like an arrogant entitled jock, even if he's very talented.
I loved the author handled Tyler's sexual awakening and all his concerns about coming out; I loved that Jace understood them and never pushed him out of his comfort zone.
Things between them progressed naturally, from friendship to love. The attempt threesome was making me itch (I don't like when the two MCs share a woman) but thankfully the author didn't make them go all the way.

I liked very much how the women were represented: both the ex-girlfriend and the best friend are supportive and reasonable, they're not the usual evil o meddling types.
Lamar was an amazing character! I laughed every time he was mentioned and his antics are hilarious (I'll never forget the duck pic).
Tyler's family was amazing too. I hope they will have space in the next books as well.

What prevented me from giving a higher rate:
The book is a bit too long and around 60/70 % of the story it seemed like the rhytm slowed down. I would have liked if the tension wasn't all focused on the end.
Jace is the victim of hate crime that put him into a hospital with severe injuries. I didn't like that he didn't get justice, his attackers didn't pay for it (on the contrary, they sued him). I hope this will be addressed in the next book too.

I hope we won't have to wait long for the next two book of the trilogy: the story ends with a HFN, I'm way too invested in Jace and Tyler's story and I need to know what comes next for them.

Very recommended.

OMG! I loved this book!

Jace made me feel all the feelings an excellent book will make you feel: love, hope, angst, joy... And it will make you cry and laugh out loud. Jace managed all this and more. The book remembered how I felt when I read one of my all-time favorites, HIM from Sarina Bowen. As there, I completely fell in love with all the characters.

But let's start at the beginning:
Jace just transferred from Amsterdam to the university, where Tyler is the star quarterback. Tyler is at first like the quarterback as you imagine: having a cheerleader girlfriend, being loved on campus, being gifted as a quarterback, and heading for the NFL. But this impression changes soon. Tyler has depth as a character and you will fall in love with him in the first chapters of his view.
Jace is also the stereotypical rockstar at first: a different girl or boy each night, model looks, sex on legs, and an outstanding singer and songwriter. But also here the author manages to make the character have depths and be like a real person.
Jace and Tyler soon develop an amazing friendship that is just fun to read about. But as more time goes by, Jace has not only friendly feelings towards Tyler but also Tyler is struggling with his sexuality.
This book is about Jace and Tyler's way towards each other. This sounds simple, but it just felt like MORE.

Rarely I have read such an amazing book, that I couldn't put the book away and have read it the whole night. Where I just fell so deeply in love with the characters. Where I will mark the release of the second book in my calendar.

And this is a debut novel! Props to the author. I am putting you on my to-watch list for any upcoming books and can't wait to read Tyler, the second book of this couple! Please release it soon. I have to know how the story continues for two amazing characters!
P.S. @N. Boeyer: I have read the Acknowledgements ;)

I have to admit, I don't usually go for books with college-age characters or straight-until-meeting-the-other-MC, but I was looking for a new read and something urged me to pick this book...And I'm really glad I did!
I feel like the author masterfully wrote Jace and Tyler's relationship development; from strangers to friends to lovers, the progression of their coming together just flowed. It didn't seem contrived or forced, and even though there were dramatic moments and some angst, it wasn't at all over the top. I didn't realize this was a debut book until after I finished reading it, and I look forward to reading more from this author. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, and hope it lives up to this one!

What an amazing read!
Wonderful writing with characters that have huge substance and depth.
Jace and Tyler grow to have an understanding of themselves separately and together.
The way Tyler finds who he is and wants more is fabulous.
Jace, a rock star, and soccer player grows so much that it's beautiful to see
Tyler made me laugh with his anxiousness in wanting it all now!!

Lamar - absolutely perfect.
Banter.
Exchange Student.
Mischievousness from friends.
Sports .
Trilogy with the same couple—YES!

Unfortunately not for me. The writing and character dialogue reads like they're in middle school or high school, so in my head, they seemed younger than what their age is supposed to be. Maybe I just enjoy more older new-adult college type books instead, but this wasn't for me.

I will start this by saying.. yes I read the acknowledgements :)

"You were supposed to be an error, but I'm thinking that maybe you're an upgrade."

Oh man was this one a yummy read!
It had it all and then some. For a debut this one will definitely do great.
The writing was there, the story flowed just how it should and was easy to get caught up in.

Was I expecting what I got from this book? absolutely not, but I loved every minute I was in this world.
Jace & Tyler got their hooks in me as a couple but also separately. The friendship we see build then eventually blossom is one that I absolutely loved about this book. A stable foundation is where everything begins.
There was that moment when I was so angry, I felt the same way Tyler did. You will know when you get to it that's for sure. Unfortunately, it is still an issue and this puts a spotlight on what can and has happened to those in this community.

Now I must say that Lamar is EVERYTHING in this book! He may be the best friend, the comedic relief if you must but his acceptance and happiness made me smile so big! We all need a Lamar in our life that's for sure.
Tyler's parents, I was dying at that one point in the book. Mom and Dad are the best without a doubt. Please tell me we get more from them in Tyler's book.

This book had 3 parts that had me all up in my feels and the buildup was fantastic, you get one moment then wham another one which this one had me smiling after because, yeah. The last one, I just couldn't. I was on a happy high then crashed.

I won't say much more because you just need to read this book to get it.
Kudos to the author on this debut because I loved every second of it. I cannot wait for Tyler, I need more of this world and what happens.

Tyler and Jace ❤️

5 Stars ⭐️

Every once in a while a book comes along and blows you away, this was one of those times. Not only are both mc's extremely relatable and likable together they are absolutely everything that I look for in a 5 Star m/m read and more. The story was warm and inviting with a realness that touches in all the right places. I'm going to be brief, so here goes: I just want to say that this is one of the best friends to lovers stories that I have ever had the pleasure of reading and I do not say that lightly. Do yourself a favor and grab this story, it will not disappoint. It was the whole package, truly. I cannot wait for more from Tyler and Jace, I adored them. Oh BTW.. Yes, I did read the acknowledgments 👏🏻🍆😂.

Excellent story with heaps of chemistry and humour. I'll admit I don't read that many college stories because a lot are quite similar and focus mostly only on the coming of age and awakening, but this book was far more. I'm really happy that there are more books planned about these characters, this will give them even more depth. There are some real treasures in the minor characters too. Jace especially is so much himself, although I can't say as a Dutch person I've ever encountered his first name.

love them

I’m invested. I can not wait for book 2. These two were such an amazing couple. Thank you for this book. This diverse group of boys. This was a wonderful story of self discovery. I love that this book didn’t trash girls in the wake of these two finding love. This was a ride. A witty banter funny dialogue and emotional scenes. The love these two boys have, I believe what they said to each other at the end. These boys are fire. Their smexy is hawt, I love the group of friends who are family. Thank you for the diversity. And yes I read your acknowledgments.

8/25 reread- I still adore these boys and Im excited for "Tyler."
This took a few pages to suck me in, then I was hooked. I loved watching these two fall, and I love even more that it didn't feel rushed. I love when a series follows a couple, the ups and downs- especially when there are outside forces to contend with. I cannot wait to jump into the next book.

4.5 stars. I LOVE. the characters in this book so much! Tyler and Jace are so sweet, unique, and charismatic, each with their own issues. Their friends-to-lovers, gay-awakening story is adorable, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I love series that follow the same couple through their relationship and I will be counting down the days until the next book in the series comes out!

This book is super impressive for a debut novel. If it were a more seasoned author, I would expect some better editing and proofreading, but it did not pull me out of the story too badly, so I’m giving the author a pass this time. Hopefully it will be better in future books. Same with some minor pacing issues that would have probably been fixed by a good editor.

Overall I HIGHLY recommend this adorable book.

Also: if the author reads this review… tell your husband that I TOTALLY read the acknowledgments, lol!

Electric Together

Jace and Tyler were a lightning strike together, electric! The chemistry between them just jumps off the page. I don't mean just the intimate moments, either. It is everything about them as a couple. I have a few favorite couples that stay with me long term, and I have a feeling that Jace and Tyler will be added to that list. They just stole my heart with how strong their connection was. I am both excited and nervous about the next installment. I laughed so hard about the helicoptering... IYKYK.

This is a great launch for the love story of Tyler and Jace! I have been waiting for a good multi book story arc and this is it. Tyler is the all American college quarterback that falls for Jace, the sexy European rock god in training. The author takes their time with letting us get to know the men and allowing Tyler to come to terms with a sexuality that he had never considered. One word of warning though. The cliffhanger on this one is something else! I am on pins and needles waiting for the next one!

This book was awesome aaaaand this is not a standalone. I don't really like being tricked into a series and this series's name does look like a series of standalone books. So that was frustrating. On the bright side - it doesn't have a cliffhanger and the writing was amazing. I love sexual awakening slow-burn stories and this one was delicious. The flirting was fun to read. All-in-all kudos to the author for such a lovely debut book.

p.s. I also read the acknowledgment 😂

The banter in this book is absolutely phenomenal. Like I genuinely laughed a lot in this book. Jace literally had the best comebacks. I loved how their relationship developed & there wasn’t a huge focus on Tyler coming out. Jace was supportive & didn’t try to push him out the closet publicly which is great.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the ending. I know this will be a series following the same couple & it sets the tone for the remainder of the series but I was not a fan of the issue that happened at the very end of the book! Like had that happened at like the 60% mark, I still wouldn’t have liked it (🤣) but I would have been okay with it compared to it happening at like the 95% mark. I just feel like at that point of the book it wasn’t needed because baby we are at the end, this should’ve been saved for the next book. But that’s just my opinion, it still was a great read!

I adored Jace and Tyler. N Boeyer gives us a quintessential swoony romance, layered with emotion, a slow burn loaded with chemistry and a sexual awakening.

This story was fantastic, the entire cast of characters endearing. While there is no lack of feelings being explored in this one honestly I appreciated how absolutely drama free it was - the typical easy to turn moments were handled with care and maturity letting the plot of the relationship build instead which was a lovely surprise.

Jace has been through something horrific and with no real support back home he’s run to be his found family. On campus he and Tyler meet and a lovely friendship blooms. But there are growing feelings and undeniable attraction on both sides. These two had depth and they were so so HOT. My favourite combination.

Their dreams though are big, they are pulled in different directions, while this ends in a HFN o need to see where their story goes, if the HEA they deserve is one they get!

Expect:

- slow burn
- College romance
- Football player x musician soccer player
- Friends to lovers
- Sexual awakening
- Found family
- HFN

This was fun. Jace is fun and flirty. Tyler is sweet and kind. They go so well together. I really enjoyed following their story - from meeting to becoming friends to more. I appreciated Tyler’s gay awakening and how chill he was about it. I also appreciate Kaylee being so chill. I like all the background characters as well.

There were some loose ends for sure so I’m eager for book two. I also thought the third act breakup almost wasn’t necessary it was so short. I’m nervous about how Jace and Ty can stay together while both becoming famous. Oh and Ty’s family? So fun! I’ll be back for book two for sure. 2.5/5 spice levels.

Notes: gay awakening, friends to lovers, rock star/athlete, football, homophobia
