Very good story, with action that grabbed me from the beginning. Kyle had been assigned to discover what sort of trouble Erin's boss had gotten himself into. He arrived in time to save Erin but not her boss. He took her under his protection, not sure if she was innocent or part of the plot. They have to find a way to work together to stop the terrorists.

I liked Kyle a lot. He overcame a rough childhood, thanks to the foster father who took him in and the five others who became his brothers. His current investigation has brought him to his hometown, just in time to save Erin's life. He is investigating her boss to determine if he has ties to terrorists, and when he rescues her he is cautious about trusting her. It doesn't take long for his instincts to tell him that she is innocent. He is also attracted to her in a way that he's never experienced before, and discovers that his restlessness finds peace when he is with her. Kyle has used his job as a way to keep anyone from getting close, protecting himself from the pain of loss.

Erin is an intelligent and independent woman. I really liked the way that she kept her head during the attack even though she was afraid. She also didn't back down from asserting her innocence. She also insisted on being included as they continued the investigation. She is also attracted to Kyle but has no idea how they could have a future together. His job keeps him on the move and her dream is to own some land and become a chile farmer, putting down roots. Her heart doesn't care about the differences and she soon realizes that Kyle brings a sense of balance to her life.

The mystery that brings Kyle and Erin together was very well done. There was plenty of action as they do their best to stay out of the bad guys' hands, while they try to find out what they are looking for. It was great to see how each of them brought their own strengths to the investigation. The ending was pretty intense as Kyle and Erin had to do things just right to make sure the terrorists were stopped. I loved seeing Kyle's brothers from the previous books and how they were such a big part of helping him solve this case. The last chapter was great as the family gathered and Kyle reached for the life he wanted.

Another thing I have enjoyed about this series is the information about the Navajo and their beliefs that are included throughout the books. It is great to learn about them in such a fun way.

In Thurlo’s romantic suspense novel, undercover agent Kyle Goodluck had been a troubled youth in New Mexico. Taken in by a caring father figure, he turned his life around and was now a NCIS officer. Erin Barrett is many things: an office manager by day, a wannabe chili famer with a long range plan to start her own chili farm, and a spirit guide to none other than Kyle. The sole survivor of an attack on her office, Kyle takes her under his protection determined to keep her alive while standing his ground against deadly terrorists.

Another great story about a Navajo undercover agent coming to the rescue of an innocent bystander in yet another Copper Canyon mystery.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with Aimee & David Thurlo's romances! Their Navajo characters are inspiring! Their mysteries have just enough twists, turns & action to be really great.

Hunky, intelligent heroes...smart, capable heroines...and a romance that leaves me feeling happy. Definitely books that "walk in beauty"!

Loved the story line 3+*, want to read about the brothers. Female counterpart in this one, had total shit lines, -5*. Sorry but that's all that ran through my head, "gah, this is painful!" and "total shit."

She is on a knee during a fire fight shooting it out with dangerous people, but then later on she's so scared she's shaking so bad she has to hand him the gun so it doesn't accidentally go off.... Um, what?

"Hopefully the chicks in the other books aren't setting strong women back decades," was my parting thought as I closed the book.

Still want to grab the other books to read about the brothers stories. Ever hopeful.

Pretty good for a Harlequin novel. There was actual dialogue between the characters instead of just lusty thoughts. Something that bugged me though was that Erin's character was so static. She didn't have any weaknesses and her dialogue stayed "proper" and apologetic the entire time. Can't win'em all.

Erin is in danger but Kyle will keep her alive. It's not that she can't take care of herself but that she doesn't know who is behind the death of her boss. The story is interesting and not too formulaic but it is a romance so you know that there will be a HEA ending.

Another winner!

Aimée Thurlo brought forth another intriguing Southwest mystery to keep us on our toes! It really keeps the reader guessing! Now I’ll begin the final 6th Copper Canyon mystery, but a little sadly. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to this series.

Great story - lots of twists and turns, a very resourceful heroine, and a complex hero. References to Navajo beliefs added something extra to the story. Although this is not the first book in this series, I had no problems following the plot. In fact, I enjoyed this story so much that I've already purchased the first in the series so that I can read the series in order. Very entertaining.

"Thurlo has written an entertaining story that is a magical blend of romance, suspense and Navajo heritage. With her passing in February, readers have lost an incredible talent" (RT Book Reviews). 4 1/2 stars TOP PICK!

Aimee Thurlo has done it again with her Series Copper Canyon ( Undercover Warrior #5 ). She intertwined Family, Work, Love, Feeling that go way deep in you're soul, Tribal Beliefs and Land with a Tourist Plot that would destroy water pipeline gathering for the Navajo Nation.

I like most of this author's stories. The heroes are tough but never mean, the heroines ordinary women but strong under pressure. Little to no sex means more pages devoted to untangling the plot, which keeps the books moving well. A diverting way to spend a couple of hours. 3.5 stars

I was bored. The author tended to spell out conflict, with statements along the lines of "I want to farm and he wants to be free--how will we ever work?"
