Rate this book
GETTING MARRIED MAY BE MORE DIFFICULT THAN COMPLETING HIS MISSION.

Nothing has fazed Logan Payne in his entire career as a bodyguard. That is, until he's tasked with protecting his biggest enemy. Stacy Kozminski isn't too thrilled about having to work with Logan either, but when attempts are made on her life, she knows he is her only hope if she wants to survive.

Soon, a target is placed on both their backs, and they have no choice but to stage an engagement to protect one another. Logan won't let Stacy out of his sight. But is it because he doesn't want to fail his assignment…or because he's come to care for the gutsy and gorgeous woman—the only woman who's ever gone toe-to-toe with him?

Logan Payne has always tried to make sure that his father's killer remained behind bars, which puts him at loggerheads with the assumed killer's daughter, Stacy Kozminski. They are thrown together when somebody appears to be targeting them both. Logan thinks his attacks could be the work of Stacy's over-protective, vengeful brothers. So his mother suggests that he and Stacy pretend to be engaged - the brothers are less likely to keep attacking him if the families have to get along, right?

No, I didn't quite get the logic either!

Despite the extreme silliness of the setup, this was a pretty engaging (get it?) Intrigue title. Lots of mystery behind who is shooting at Logan and Stacy, or leaving bombs for them, along with questions about who might have really killed Logan's father, and the conspiracy behind the murder of Stacy's father in prison. My guesses proved to be wrong!

One thing that bothered me was the interchanging use of "fiance" or "fiancee". Pick one and stick with it!

It was a bit repetitive, and I never really understood why Logan was so convinced Stacy's brothers wanted him dead. It was more a plot device to provide a red herring, I think! Otherwise, it's a fun, fast-paced read.

If you love a good action book, then you will love this one. It had back to back action scene's. Logan, and Stacy has hated one another for years. Logan blamed Stacy's father for the death of his own father. Stacy knew her father would never murder another person. Her father hated guns. Logan's father was a policeman, and died on duty when a jewelry store got robed. Stacy's father went to prison for a crime he didn't do. Logan was at every bail hearing, making sure he stayed behind bars. The book heats up as someone wants to silence both Logan, and Stacy. What could protect both Logan, and Stacy? They pretended to be engaged. That hate that they carried for years suddenly turned into a burning desire. Can hate turn into the forever kind of love? You will have to read to find out. Find out if the two can stay alive long enough to fall in love. Read to see how Logan breaks the case. I loved this book, because the author gave us lots people that could be behind the attacks. This book kept me guessing. It had lots of twist and turns along the way. I enjoyed how the author wrapped everything up, and didn't leave us hanging. Excellent book. It will go onto my favorite's list.

Plot is fast paced and not in a good way. Yes i realize it's a little piece of fluffy reading but still. SO many times while I was reading i was blow away by the sheer stupidity of the characters that i couldn't get into any of them. Like come on!

Attacked a handful of times, by who??? Storm Troopers?? Cause these bad guys couldn't hit the broad side of a van let alone these two, find trouble every where characters.

This was painful to read. I wont ever be reading anything by this author again.

Worst novel I've ever read.

Two families who seem to hate each other learn there is a lot more to the story than what they've always known.......this book just goes to show you that sometimes we make think something is one way, but you may actually need all the facts before coming up with the honest conclusion.

I have reread this book several times but have never reviewed it. This has two of my favorite tropes of all time! Enemies-to-lovers and marriage of convenience...The best kind. The action was intense, and the chemistry between the leads was hot.

This book picks up where Book One (Groom Under Fire) left off. Cooper and Tanya have just gotten married when shots are fired at Logan. This is when they realize that some of the attacks from earlier have actually been aimed at Logan. He is sure he knows who is behind them, and tears off to confront Stacy, daughter of the man who went to prison for killing his father. He finds her getting ready for her father's funeral and accuses her of shooting at him or having her brothers do so, because he worked hard to make sure her father never got out on parole. He has to rethink his position a bit when someone shoots at them both at the cemetery. Logan's mother suggests that they become engaged as a way to make her family give up what may be their attempts at revenge.

It's very hard to get anyone to believe their sudden engagement. Logan and Stacy have spent the last fifteen years as enemies, refusing to believe any good of the other one. But all that passionate hate suddenly turns to another kind of passion as they are forced into each other's company. Logan can't understand why he's so attracted to a woman he can't bring himself to trust. As they get closer to discovering who is behind the attacks, he starts to realize that he's actually beginning to care for her. I loved seeing the way that she constantly stands up to him, refusing to accept his dictates. Stacy also has trouble believing that she can be so attracted to someone who is too pigheaded to listen to another point of view. She's much quicker to realize that her emotions are getting involved, though it isn't any more welcome to her than it is to him. She does know that she is safer with him than with anyone else, though she begins to worry that protecting her will cost him his life. Each time they are attacked, their feelings get stronger, until the last attack that shows them just how much they really care.

As in the first book, the attacks are nearly nonstop. Logan first suspects that Stacy and her family are behind them, but when she becomes a target also he has to consider other possibilities. He has spent so long convinced that her father killed his, that it takes him awhile to begin to accept her assertion that he couldn't have done it. With each attack it seems like there is another possible suspect. Would Stacy's brothers risk her life in order to get revenge on Logan? What about her uncle, who is also a jewel thief, but has never been caught? Would Logan's brother Parker try to take his own revenge on Stacy's family? What about Logan's employee Candace, who is obviously in love with Logan and not at all happy about his engagement to Stacy? And finally, what evidence did Logan's father's partner suppress and why? I was pretty sure I knew who actually killed Logan's father, but the journey to the answer had quite a few twists and turns. And as with the first book, the end of this one leads into the next.

In Childs’ romantic suspense novel, bodyguard Logan Payne has seen it all until he’s charged with protecting his worst enemy. Stacy Kozminski is none too thrilled at the prospect either but attempts have been made on her life. Before long, targets are placed on both their backs forcing them to stage their engagement to stay safe. Forced together, a passion ignites that resisting just might be more difficult than surviving the danger that keeps moving closer.

A strong addition to the Shotgun Weddings series.

Two and a half stars--almost comical RS where around every corner is a killer, gun, bomb, or maybe not ;) This is the second in the Shotgun Weddings series, about Logan and the daughter of his father's alleged killer, Stacy.

It seems someone's trying to kill them both though, so his mother (conveniently a wedding planner) suggests they join forces maritally as well as otherwise, to defeat the villain.

Hijinks and smooches ensue ;)

The chemistry between the hero and heroine was sensual and intense. And the premise that they "hated" each other for years caught me as I tried to figure out who was really responsible for killing his father, if it hadn't been her father. Fast paced and great set up for the next in the series.

I liked continuation of the Payne family story but some parts of this book were weak. The reason for them getting married wasn't valid enough for me and I thought they fell into Mama Payne's scheming to set them up a little too quickly.

Explosive romance

Keeps you guessing! Likable characters. Full of drama, danger and nonstop action. Few love scene and plenty of suspects. I am going to have to buy the next book now.
