Bound by the Italian’s Contract by Janette Kenny is the first book I’ve read of hers.

The premise of the story looked promising. Heroine had a crush on the hero, he rejects her advances, they meet again seven years later when she needs his money to restore her family home and expand her business. He agrees on the condition that she travels to Italy and help with the rehabilitation of his younger brother, who is in a wheelchair after a tragic skiing accident. And the skiing theme was exciting and glamorous…

Some of the things that I never connected with, were the two main characters. I just never really got to know them…

Who were the real Caprice and Luciano? What was really beneath the surface?

Physiotherapist Caprice Tregore has never forgotten the moment when Luciano Duchelini, a former and now retired ski champion turned billionaire businessman, had rejected her those years ago. That rejection resulted in something really traumatic happening to her. She has since become highly regarded for her ground-breaking programs she’s developed for the disabled.

She has no option but to agree to Luciano’s request for her to travel to Italy for a certain amount of time to help with his brother’s rehabilitation. Whilst there were some things about Caprice I liked….her independence, her talent, determination and total focused on building up her business, there were some things that bothered me…..it was something like…I like her…no I don’t think I do…kind of feelings I had.

Luciano is the usual sexy and rich Italian hero, an ex-champion and famous skier who gave it all up after a skiing accident left him injured and his younger brother bound for life in a wheelchair. He remembers Caprice from those years ago and the reasons for him rejecting her. Despite never feeling any love for her, he knows discovers that she has a certain allure he would like to explore further. But that has nothing to do with love but only lust. He’s cold, distrustful, and remote and believes that the only thing Caprice wants from him is his money!!

Arriving at Luciano’s chalet in the Italian Alps………..let me just say that the setting was pretty awesome…
 photo download_zpszneolkkp.jpg
I found it strange that Caprice’s job was to help Luciano’s brother but immediately on her arrival…it’s back to her own business…working with the designer team for her spas…and no, it was over…no Luciano’s brother thinking here…she demands to be taken to Luciano’s private and remote chalet so she can check out the design before she agrees to sign the suggestions made for her spas!!!! Then the two narrowly miss an avalanche on the way, get cozy, let everyone know they’re okay, get turned out and finally Caprice gets her wish….yes, beds her crush….and for someone who had experience a very traumatic sexual incident…boy, she overcomes all the fears she might have had and gets immediately busy giving Luciano a great blowjob!!! No hang-ups from her trauma!!!

I was expecting some spark and sizzle from these two…but really and honestly I need felt a huge sexual chemistry between them. And even their sex scenes were pretty so so….no light ignitions, no crackling fires either….hell, this is an Italian hero…I so expected more from him at least!!!!!

Let me just sum it all up…..instead of going on and on why this book didn’t SPARKLE for me…………and why it’s not going to be a reread!!!

Caprice Tregore is physiotherapist extraordinaire , she helps heal those that cannot find another way to get over the sudden loss of change in their lives. But her company needs a state of the art makeover if she's going to make it amongst the bigger names in the industry.

So she steels herself and finds every single bit of courage she can to face the one man that can help her make her dream a reality, she knows Luciano will want something in return, what she has no idea but what has to be done has to be done! And besides she is no longer the naive innocent he once knew.

Luciano Duchelini has the perfect plan to help his brother reach a speedy recovery. Caprice will do her physiotherapy magic and he will finance her company makeover, as easy as sliding down a ski slope, right ? But the two months in her company proves that the overwhelming always there attraction for Caprice has not died, and this time he will satisfy his every desire, regardless of the cost.

I have been a fan of this author's work ever since the first time I picked up a copy of Proud revenge, passionate wedlock, a few years ago. The intensity of her characters has amazed and have entranced me every since.

In this her latest read she has once again shown why she is one of the best international author's to ever grace the world with her beautiful stories, stunning memorable characters and romance magic, that is guaranteed to capture your attention again and again and again each and every time!

The character of Luciano fascinated me from the very start of this read, he's colder than ice one minute and hot flames the next. I could not wait to get inside his mind and discover just why he hides his pain and anger. I loved him for trying to be always trying to be the stronger party in everything he does in life, it showed him as I recon a lot of us are for the most part. We hurt badly, but instead of allowing others to see our pain and suffering we hide it, and tell ourselves we deserve to suffer because of what our actions caused. I adored that the author let's Caprice slowly be the one to draw Luciano out from the world of suffering he has sentenced himself to, the author showed that there is always someone that will show us we simply cannot be strong on our own, a little helping hand goes a long way.

The character of Caprice was awesome! I loved this heroine. She has been through hell and back , fallen more times than she can remember but has always gotten back up stronger than before and ready to fight back. My heart shattered at the thought of what she has gone through and I shed more than a few tears, major tissue alert! Much like Luciano she also hides the hurt , but instead of letting herself live in a hell whole of regrets she gets up and does what needs to be done to get over the issue. This showed her of course as the complete opposite of Luciano but it also reminded me that some of us are able to hit a low spot in our lives and still manage to get back up and move on, it makes us stronger than others but it does not make us any better, the key is to let that overflow of positive energy flow to others and help them to build the same level of courage we have been able to find, and this Caprice does beautifully!

Caprice building Luciano up to a man any person would be proud of and showing him that there is always a way to rebuild our lives after we have fallen from the top, was exquisite! I am taking away so many wonderful messages from this read but the one that stood out and will for certain remain with me for the rest of my life is that when we fall we need to get back up, we might fall again and have to get up yet again, but in the end we will know that we tried our very best and it will never be said we stayed down. And the love of the right person can heal any kind of hurt, all we need to do is let the person in on the deal.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance reads! Jeanette Kenny crafted the perfect escape to romance, love conquers all story with remarkable characters, a brilliant plot and a gripping all the way through till the end read!

I'm a little shook... this was so good?! Is this really a Harlequin Presents collection the books where all of the books might be of similar-to-equal quality??

This is the third book in the July 2014 (Part 2) bundle. And like its two predecessors, I was impressed at how it pulls in heavier subjects into the typical Harlequin melodrama. This one reckons with the FMC's history with rape, before the book's events. I think it was well-handled and I like that her abuser literally just dies. LOL. More of this please.

One more book to go. Hoping this one is a perfect end to the collection. (The title isn't giving me high hopes, though. I typically do not like Harlequin playboy stories.)

Very well written story but very dark (heroine was raped.) The ending was disappointing and I never felt heroine's love for the hero. She was too in love with her career.

Title was weird, as it was the heroine who insisted on the contract.

I've never read a Harlequin Presents that didn't seem to have gone through an editor. First, Luciano somehow conjured up a glass in the first chapter, prior to pouring two glasses of wine. Then in chapter three, he gets into a car and orders his driver to take off...and a couple pages later is driving the vehicle himself.

As for the story, it could have been great. Both Caprice and Luciano have been through some really tough things and I liked them a lot. I just didn't click with Janette Kenny's writing style, which was vague descriptively and relied heavily on dialogue and remembrances. And even those weren't as informative as they could have been. I'm still not even sure how Luciano and Caprice first met. And why would he have hired a teenager as an assistant?

A bit of a disappointment for me, as I came to this book after reading an excerpt that intrigued me. I don't feel like that panned out.

While I appreciated the author's desire to address something as horrific as rape, I did not enjoy this story. I never felt and chemistry between Caprice and Luciano. Their love affair left me bored and yawning.
I judge how good a book is by how it holds my attention and my reluctance (or lack thereof) to put it down. I found myself walking away from this book to go wash the dishes, dust the furniture, vacuum. This book did not hold my attention and that made me sad because with such a strong theme, this should have been a better story.

I like to be able to envision the characters and was disappointed with the lack of description of either of them. I couldn't work out how old he was either... did I miss it? Rape and sexual abuse are never pretty to read about, I thought it very brave of the author to include it in this story and it worked okay, I would have liked her to come forward sooner, exposing the truth to the media in the end wasn't enough. I enjoyed her toughness and his loyalty to his brother.

"Kenny’s romance in the Alps is tragic and hopeful, complete with over-the-top opulence, a hero who’s scarred inside and out and a heroine with a vicious ghost in her past" (RT Book Reviews). 4 stars

I'm sorry. I've been a huge Harlequin Presents fan since I was 14 and this is the first time that I have ever been so angry at the end of a book because it was HORRIBLE! Worst story ever.
