The Baby Rescue is an exciting read with lots of twists and turns. It is part of the Witness Protection series from Love Inspired Suspense, however, each story stands on its own.

Both Colton and Lisette are likeable characters who are dependable and strong. Each struggle with situations from the past that impact the way they face the future. Colton, a U.S. Marshall, grew up in foster care and doesn’t allow himself to form true, lasting relationships. Lisette carries a burden as well and it has shaken her faith in God and others.

Through well-crafted characters and intense situations, the author has written a compelling story. A sweet romance is there, developing throughout the story, however, the larger focus is on working together to try to break up a gigantic child smuggling ring and save a little baby girl in the process. Through this harrowing assignment, Colton and Lisette form a bond that neither saw coming.

I enjoyed this story and felt that it flowed well. I definitely recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of The Baby Rescue from the author in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.

An enjoyable suspense read. Definitely reflects back to book one of the series, so I was a bit at sea, since it's been a couple years since I read it. I'm heading through the series faster now so I don't forget what's going on with the baby-kidnapping ring!

So, should I admit that the main reason I picked up this book was the cover? What is it about a guy with a baby...?

Although the romantic part of the storyline started with the usual instant attraction followed by trying to fight/reason away that attraction, I thought the author handled it a lot better than some other stories I've read. We got to see the characters' walls come down slowly, rather than disappearing in an instant. And they were good for each other in more than a romantic sense, which I liked a lot. (Although, can I just say, I still don't understand the whole kissing-someone-immediately-after-thinking-how-this-can-never-work thing? I know it's not just this book, but still...) I also appreciated that there was plenty of focus (from the author and the characters) on the case itself, so it didn't seem like a side plot to the romance.

Since this is part of a series, there are obvious allusions to the last book and set-ups for the next, meaning some things don't get nicely wrapped up, but I still felt like the closure for this story was handled well. 3.5 stars

#2 Witness Protection Continuity.

Guarding a witness is a job US Marshal Colton Phillips takes very seriously.

Even when that witness is a criminal who's going for a deal to give information in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Even when said criminal whines enough to drive you crazy.

And even when said criminal seems to be giving you the run-around.

But getting information to track down and break up a baby smuggling ring is just too important.

Can Colton Phillips and FBI Agent Lisette Sutton work from the information they are being given, and can they rescue a baby from the ring before she's sold?

A great continuation in the Witness Protection Continuity. It was interesting to see the side where the marshals have to protect a criminal and put their lives on the line for them. Especially when in this case said criminal's whines and demands are driving you nuts and you need to keep your cool.

A sidenote ~ I do wish on the cover that they had put the blanket round the baby's head. It's snowing! I love the picture of Colton holding the baby ~ that was definitely a good move and pulls on the heartstrings, but I then see the uncovered head and it gets me every time!

1. Safe by the Marshal's Side (Witness Protection) by Shirlee McCoy 2. The Baby Rescue by Margaret Daley 3. Stolen Memories by Liz Johnson
4. Top Secret Identity by Sharon Dunn 5. Family in Hiding (Witness Protection) by Valerie Hansen 6. Undercover Marriage by Terri Reed

You really do need to read these books in order as each book, while a story on its own, also has a plot which runs & develops through all the 6 books, building up to the grand finale in book 6. This means that you will not only want to read this book, but also the preceding 5 in the series! So if you are looking for a one off story to read, then this is not the book for you. However, if you are short of reading material & want a series to get you going, then you might want to try out this series.

My Comments
I was so excited about reviewing this book! The US Marshal’s office has an assignment to crack a case in the baby smuggling ring and there’s so much at stake in this one. All Marshal Colton Phillips has to do is bring their suspect safely to the airport which will take him to the safe house for the remainder of the case as they get the information they need from him. Unfortunately, trouble starts immediately.

FBI Agent Lisette Sutton is not comfortable working with Colton because he’s known to break rules in order to get the job done and Lisette is by the book. However, she is also passionate about keeping children safe so she jumps at the chance to be on this case. Will Lisette and Colton be able to work well together in solving this case or will they bring too much conflict to one another?

Colton makes it clear to Lisette that he’s in charge from the beginning, but they are both completely professional with one another and they’re both determined to save Baby C. It’s obvious that they both have a secretive past, but the biggest difference is that Colton relies on his faith to keep his sanity when his job requires him to work with criminals while Lisette is still harboring unforgiveness towards her mother. Even though Lisette has a wall of protection around her, the unforgiveness she holds onto weighs her down more than she realizes.

I really enjoyed the masked ball scene in the story and the character I liked most was Maxie. She has a really small role in the book, but every time Colton and Lisette were eating at Maxie’s Café they were able to get personal in the story and it was refreshing.

I truly admire stories like this one that take on a cause, rescuing innocent babies from bad guys, and passionately pursuing a case that will take every ounce of strength they have to overcome resourceful villains. The main bad guy in this one is much more clever than he seems, unfortunately, but that doesn’t stop Colton and his team from taking countless risks to ensure the innocent are rescued and protected.

I want to thank the author for the review copy provided. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Baby Rescue
By Margaret Daley

This is the second book in the Witness Protection. I thought Margaret did an excellent job in her writing and with her characters in The Baby Rescue. Black market adoption-ring is very strong and covers a good portion of the United States. U.S. marshal Colton Phillips and FBI agent Lisette Sutton is teamed up together to try to rescue Baby C and get the main people behind the smuggling ring. Colton has always been a loner and don't like to stay in one place over two years. Colton breaks all the rules to get his job done. FBI agent Lisette Sutton is right opposite of Colton , she goes by the book . She thinks that she has to prove herself because of something in the past. They both have past issues and want to just get their job done. There is a man they are guarding and trying to protect. They are hoping that through him they can catch the middle man in the baby-smuggling ring .There is a lot of moving around and some under cover work that goes on. Both Colton and Lisette want to keep their hearts separated from their work. Can they find Baby C in time and also find the people behind the baby-smuggling ring ? What about their hearts, can they leave issues of the past behind ? I really loved this book and think you would to. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.

This book lives up to the title “Love Inspired Suspense”. The Baby Rescue is well-written and will keep your interest throughout the book. It is packed with romance and mystery. U.S. marshal Colton Phillips has to work with FBI agent, Lisette Sutton and their tactics are totally different but their goal remains the same….to break up a baby-smuggling ring. I found it hard to put it down as I was anxious to get to the ending. Margaret Daley is a new-to-me-author and I find her books intriguing, and I look forward to reading more. This book is a must-read. You won’t be disappointed.

The Baby Rescue is full of suspense, action, and mystery. Yep, that's a Margaret Daley book I'm talking about. The action starts from the first page. The chemistry between Colton and Lisette is undeniable right off the bat. I really enjoyed this book. If you love a short read that's an action packed page turner, then you won't be disappointed with this book. 5 stars.

Colton, and Lisette were strangers that became partners, working together to take down a baby smuggling ring. Colton was with the U.S. Marshals, and Lisette was with the FBI. Through all the actions, and long days, and nights a friendship was made. The two followed a baby that switched hands. They couldn't snatch the people right away, because they wanted to find out who was at the top of the ring. The baby got lost in the shuffle, and they worked around the clock to find the baby. With the long hours the two fell in love, but never even shared a kiss. it was a sweet romance surrounded by lots of action, car chases, gun fire, and kidnapping. The danger was real. They were trying to find the middle man. Sanders has nothing to lose. If he is caught he will be behind bars for life. We all know even prisoners hates people that are mean to children or babies. He will kill anyone that gets in his way.

Sample from chapter 6 - All Colton saw was red as the truck barreled toward him. He immediately reacted and stomped on the gas, but the driver of the ram must have anticipated his tactics because a second later the pickup smashed into the side of his firebird, T-boning it. The crashing sounds of the collision drowned out the rat-a-tat of his racing heart beating. The exploding air bag followed, it's impact forcing air bag followed, it's impact forcing him back against his seat with a punch that knocked the breath from him. The world spun before his eyes. Coughs racked him. He sucked in the fine white powder from the air bag, causing more coughs to rack his body. Then he felt another jolt as the truck rammed him again, pushing him off the road and into a ditch. Pain streaked up his legs. His car sat at an angle. Through the haze and spinning terrain, he realized he was hanging on the edge of the ditch, teetering. Any movement could send him cashing to the bottom of the six or seven foot ditch.

I love a good suspense story and when it falls within a continuing series I love it all the more. The Baby Rescue, by Margaret Daley, is the second book in the Love Inspired Suspense Witness Protection series. This series is comprised of six books written by different authors. While it is a series each book can be read as a stand-alone novel.

The Baby Rescue is the story of U.S. Marshal Colton Phillips and FBI agent Lisette Sutton. Colton believes in doing whatever it takes to get the desired outcome, whereas Lisette is all for following the law by the book with no deviations. With characters so different they have one thing in common, to get the job done. In this case to rescue a baby that has been kidnapped and bring down the middleman in the child abduction ring.

I always know what I will find within the covers of any Margaret Daley novel. Strong believable characters, well thought out plot and a Christian thread pulling the main characters together. In The Baby Rescue, she created a plot that twisted and turned taking the reader on a nail-biting ride to the satisfying conclusion.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Baby Rescue and plan to read all the rest of the books in the series. Thankfully they come out monthly. If you love a good clean suspense novel, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of The Baby Rescue.

On a 5-Star scale = 5 HUGE Stars!!!!!

I would like to thank the author for my review copy. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done.

The Baby Rescue by Margaret Daley
It is under the " Witness Protection series from Love Inspired Suspense.
In this book you will see how U S Marshal and the F B I work together. You will also see how God works in their lives. Lisette Sutton, FBI and Colton Phillip,US Dept Marsha was put together on a case involving Child Smuggling. Where they were getting their information was from a low life criminal Don Saunders, who they had to put in Witness Protection Program. Colton Phillips grew up in foster care and was placed in so many homes, because of this he only trusted himself. He never let himself get close to people, he trusted only God. Lisette Sutton, only trusted herself She was going to show people she wasn't like her mom, who had FBI for awhile, then had to resign. Colton was finding out that he like both the glamorous and the professional Lisette. Every time Lisette, though of her mom and God wanting her to for give her mom was driving her farther and farther from God. There is Colton, he always prays to God for guidance. You need to read this book to see if they get Child smuggling ring? Does Colton and Lisette gets together? Does Lisette every forgive her mom and get closer to God? I was given this book for my honest opinion from Daley Street Team I love the book and i could read it over and over. Great book and great author

This is the second book in the Witness Protection series, written by different authors. It picked right up where Safe by the Marshal's Side left off. This can be read as a stand alone. It does reference a few things from the first book though. I only knew what they were talking about because I had read it.

Colton & Lisette both had less than ideal childhoods that have left them with emotional scars. They both are still working on issues as a result. But I liked that they were both already Christian & that Colton was able to help Lisette with some of the questions that she had. The characters in the first book weren't to impressed with Colton, so I was surprised to find him such a likable character :). Lisette offered an olive branch to someone that she needed to forgive & a relationship was restored. The characters went through a lot, but they grew.

Saunders was such a creep! That would not be a fun job. I'm glad that someone is willing to do it though. I couldn't believe some of the things he manages to pull in this book. An overall happy ending was achieved. You do not get full resolution though. From reading the backs of the rest of the series it seems that the baby kidnapping ring plays a part in the rest of the series. Can't wait to read them.

What a read!! The story has us traveling from St Louis to Denver with U.S. Marshals
trying to crack a baby smuggling ring. It is fast moving suspense, mystery with a mix of
romance. You start to read and keep going to the end of the book!!!
U.S. Marshall Colton Phillips becomes teamed with FBI Agent Lisette Sutton. Both do their
jobs very differently and come from troubled pasts. Lisette always follows the book
while Colton is a maverick who throws the book out the window. Their assignment is to
guard an informant, follow the baby exchange and learn the identity of the mid-level smuggler.
It is high suspense that has the agents changing their planned methods for
optional ones and characters learning to adjust and trust one another.
Good characters, interesting plot with exhilarating twists and turns, faith in God and
a developing romance makes for a great read.
This book is a part of the Love Inspired Witness Protection series but can be read as a
stand alone. I have not read any of the series and was able to follow the
storyline immediately. Great read!!!

I received this book as a gift from the author. The review is my own opinion.

The Baby Rescue
By: Margaret Daley

Great story. I loved the characters so believable. I would say Colton was my favorite. This book kept me reading and not putting it down. Lots of adventure.
The story is about a baby smuggling ring. U.S. Marshal Colton Phillips has to work with the FBI to capture the top ring leaders. The FBI sends him a woman to work with and Colton is not much for being a team player. Of all things he has to partner with a woman. He promises himself he isn’t going to let a woman get to his heart. He needs to keep his heart in check and now here is this beautiful woman Lisette he has to work side by side with. This can get a little nerve racking. Colton is not one to play by rules he wants to get the job done and move on. Colton has a past history that just haunts him to where he doesn’t get close to people. Wonder what he is hiding deep down and won’t share? Lisette has her own issues and she is tight lipped about. Working together undercover and Lisette lets her guard down. Shots are fired who got hit? What happened to the baby was it to late to save her?
Great book lots of action! If you like romance there is romance also.

The Baby Rescue is the 2nd book in the Love Inspired Witness Protection continuity series. Each written by a different author, these books can be enjoyed as a series or read as stand-alone stories.

Margaret Daley is a master of suspense and has written an action-packed story. With strong characters and a dramatic storyline, The Baby Rescue will keep you turning the pages, eager for more!

Colton Phillips, U.S. Marshal, sees the atrocities of the world through his job and clings to his faith for strength and reassurance. Issues from her past have caused FBI Agent Lisette Sutton to question her faith. Both must learn to trust and draw strength from each other in order to rescue an innocent child. “Evil is in our world. It’s how we deal with it that’s important.”

Mounting suspense, dangerous situations, and undercurrents of romance make this a most enjoyable book and one I highly recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

This is the second book in the Witness Protection series. I really like the LIS series that LI has chosen lately. This one, on child smuggling is good too! I love Margaret's books and always enjoy her characters & storylines. This book follows Colton, a US Marshall and Lisette, a FBI agent, who are on the trail of a mid-level child smuggler. They want to know who his boss is but he keeps slipping through their fingers. Colton and Lisette team up on this Op and find out that they actually have a lot in common but they don't see that at first and fight it for most of the story! I enjoyed the twists and turns of the storyline because I think it was realistic. Sometimes books about law enforcement can be "too easy" but this one showed that things can go wrong and how many times the agents have to keep trying new things and dealing with failures but going in different directions. Another great book from Margaret!

Awesome continuation of this series. I've always loved Margaret Daley's books and once again she has succeeded in writing a great story.

Colton is a Deputy Marshal who doesn't stay in one place more than two years and he is at the end of his two years in Denver. He lives in hotels and eats out. If he doesn't get close to people he doesn't have to deal with losing them or getting hurt.

But somehow Lisette gets under his radar and he suddenly finds himself thinking maybe he's been missing out. Until he's reminded how easily he could lose her.

The baby-smuggling ring has us going from St. Louis to Denver. Insider information and a deal with the Marshal's has a character from the first book leading Colton and Lisette to the middleman of the ring.

Lots of exciting action and page turning adventure!

The Baby Rescue which was written by Margaret Daley is part of the Love Inspired Witness Protection Series which is written by different authors.

The Baby Rescue is about a baby that was kidnapped in a baby smuggling ring. U.S. Marshall Colton has to partner up with(against his will of course) with the beautiful F.B.I. Agent Lisette. They both have past hurts that keep their feelings for each other at bay at the beginning. Although Baby Rescue has a Romantic flair to it, the story line does not detract from the suspense and thrill of finding the middleman in the smuggling ring as well as the baby.

This story definitely involves God love and how he is always with us even if we feel he is not quite in earshot. They both had to literally step out on faith and not only trust each other but put their faith and trust in God. As the twists and turns of this story is weaved we are literally on the edge of our seats yet we have a reprieve from the thrill with Colton taking Lisette to his favorite eating spot where they truly hit a turning point in their relationship. I see them both opening up, Colton trusting her with this personal gesture and Lisette relaxing enough to forget her worries for just a little while over food.

Will their trust in God lead them to healing? Will someone get hurt in the process of rescuing this precious life? When the smoke of the gunshots clear who will come out victorious, God or bad men?

I can truly say this is one of my favorite suspense/romance novels because it had a great foundation that only built from there. The end will have you saying " Wow, I so DID NOT see that coming!"

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review of her novel The Baby Rescue.

I thought the writing and the story were decent, for the most part, but again, it didn’t explain anything more from the previous book in the series and it didn’t move anything along. It also ends very suddenly with loose ends that likely won’t be answered in the next book. It’s almost a stand-alone but it isn’t. I don’t understand where this series is supposed to go as every situation is different and nothing is resolved from book to book. I didn’t recognize any of the characters either. I’m giving it 4 stars and that’s because the writing is good but that’s probably too generous, definitely as far as a series goes… Wondering if it’s even worth continuing reading any more books in this series at this point…

This was my first “Love Inspired” book to read. The story moved slow for a majority of the book. I think the most exciting part was chapters 11 & 12, literally the last two chapters. These chapters had all the action and suspense I was looking for the entire book!!! I did like the inspiring parts about God. However, I did not care for the authors method of introducing background information. It felt like I was reading a recap from a previous book, instead of having the story unfold before me. At times the characters reactions were flat or just in left field. I do plan to read more books by “Love Inspired” just in a different sub genre.

Actually 3.5 rating. I really liked the storyline and the characters. Colton Phillips, U. S. Marshal with the Witness Protection Service, is a loner. He has abandonment issues from his childhood that makes him wary of getting too close. He never stays in one place for more than two years. This changes when he meets FBI agent, Lisette Sutton.
Lisette is a compact dynamo. They have been paired together to find and arrest the members of a baby smuggling ring. They catch the middleman and his local contacts but when being transported to prison the middleman escapes thus leading to the continuation of this series.

Two government officers fall in love well on the job.

Enjoyed being back with this author again. Colton and Lisette story was very fast paced and exciting. Both had come from hurt in their pasts. But as they worked together they came to understand each other. The bond of love formed. Colton became Lisette hero and she didn't want to let him go. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

excellent.

I reserve 5 stars for books that will be around for the ages. This is a very good book holding my attention the whole time. I didn’t see every twist nd turn so it wasn’t total y predictable.
I liked that the characters grew emotionally. I believe the Christian aspect was pretty weak. A stronger Christian persona would have been nice. This was the kind that wouldn’t offend anyone, just a mention here and there. But, all in all, it was a very good story.

Christian Fiction on the Edge of you Seat

Great book with lots of twists and turns. Even the ending for me could have gone either way. I liked the integration of the Christian beliefs in this story where it was not to pushy but interwoven in normal conversation and life happenings even with these intense jobs. This is the second book in this series I have read. I have read them out of order but I do look forward to the next book in this series.

I found Colton's reputation as a maverick to be overstated, especially since he established back-up plans in case something went wrong I appreciated the fact that he continually prayed for patience while dealing with his witness. The gradual shift in his relationship with Lisette was faith-based and well-paced.

The baby trafficking ring is getting more and more desperste. A baby becomes the pawn for a tale of US Mardhals, FBI agents and some very persistent felons. Money is at the root of this story and Lisette and Colton try their best to thwart the plot.
