From the first chapter I hated their friend group. What the fucking hell was their problem. My God I wanted to punch them ALL.
I love love loved reading Scotty's povs about Alora. The way he saw her for who she really was. He was so right when he said he only knew her for a night but knew more about her than her friends. So fucking sad. I was so angry at them.
I LOVED Alora and Scotty from the beginning. Honestly what's there not to like? Golder retriever MMC *swoon* and bad ass FMC. Alora's belief that she doesn't deserve love and that love doesn't exist was so sad.
My God their banter! Had ME smiling. Their flirting 💃🕺💃🕺 The chemistry man the chemistry! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
And the plot twist! Or two¿? Why didn't I expect that?! Alora was amazing throughout it all. Such a selfless, brave and giving person. Scotty was amazing and so so supportive. That man is everything!!!
The happy ending. I could weep. So so happy for them. 🌸💘🌺

First of all, a huge thank you to the author & her team for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review!
I had to sit on this one for a while to sort out my feelings out, and I still don't properly know where I stand, but it is somewhere on a neutral ground. The premise sounded good, and it looked fun, which it was to an extent, but then again there also was something I just didn’t like. I will say I was hooked the whole time, and I couldn’t put it down, especially once I got to the second half, and that’s not nothing.
What put me off the most was how unbearable I found the characters, with the exception of the two mains, and even them had moments that frustrated me a lot. But overall, they were great and had interesting backstories, and I genuinely liked that aspect. I guess it was a bit too much too fast for me, but I really enjoyed the friendship they were forming, and I wish the relationship developed at a slower pace. It was great to see them understand and respect each other in ways the people closest to them seemingly did not care to do, and I think that deserved to be explored more on a friendship level first.
I honestly think I would have like it a lot more as a full developed novel rather than a novella, but, even though it wasn't for me in many ways, it is good for what it is, and I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something fast and that's gonna grip your attention for a while

I hate Alora’s friends….thank God that’s off my chest. Honestly I’ve never figuratively met a group of people I want to bitch slap so much in my life. The way they treat her for sleeping around when she’s a single intelligent woman really pissed me off. In the words of Christina Aguilera “It's a common double standard of society. The guy gets all the glory, the more he can score. While the girl can do the same and yet you call her a whore.” Why?!
Scotty and Alora’s relationship was perfect though. It’s a horrible feeling as a fully grown adult to have all of your friends coupled off and being the one left behind thinking you’re never going to find your person. I was so glad they finally got there happily ever after even if there were a couple of bumps along the way, and those bumps were mighty dramatic that’s for sure.
This was my first read from Alyssa and I’m really interested to see what’s next ☺️

I... uh.. this was a book.
This review will be all over the place, just like the book.
I went into this thinking it would be a normal, probably cliché hockey romances and it was until it really wasn't (at around 50%).
The plot surprised me like a Grey's anatomy season final (literally lol).
Alora was a bit mean sometimes, but i think that is justified because every single person in her life is just awful to her. Her family, her "friends", and anyone who knows her is just so horrible to her. I actually think she should have been meaner.
and yeah, her nickname for Scotty, the mmc, is "shithead," but by the end, I felt it's a fitting name.
I really dislike the way the author handled some themes like slutshaming, female friendships, death, and abortions.
I wanted to finish this book out of curiosity, but I won't read a book by this author again.

Okay i finished it so it couldn’t have been that bad but honestly it was just kind of boring, the plane crash was so so random but i think that was the only point i actually started enjoying this book, i love most romances so this was still good in a way but nothing special. Scotty showing up at her apartment all the time and after like a month was so random and just weird and Alora was so annoying at points. Overall not terrible
I did actually kind of like the ending, it was very sweet and really did make up for the bad bits.

I only powered through and finished this book in the hope that it got better… it did not. So many inconsistencies and things that just wouldn’t happen.
The characters were horrible. I would love to know how many times the word ‘whore’ was used. It didn’t even sound like she was actually that ‘promiscuous’! Regardless, what does it matter. Seriously. Yet it’s the defining plot point throughout the WHOLE book. No development around that at all.

He falls first is one of my favorite tropes, and boy does Scotty fall hard! I really enjoyed how determined he was to win Alora, even though I wanted to strangle that stubborn girl at times. And I loved how he stood up for her with their friends, who all pretty much sucked. This one took me on a real rollercoaster, especially with that fast-paced and action-packed event that I totally was not expecting around the middle. Phew!

I’m not really understanding how this story is ranked as the second most popular in sports romance atm. There’s entirely too much slut shaming in it for me. Chick needs new friends. It seemed to be all over the place and the entire final third of the book was wildly out there. It felt like a very rushed story in general and I struggled to connect with both characters.

Woah! What??? lol. This is such a great read. I really did not see any of that coming . I felt bad for alora because I know many women truffle with love and emotions due to childhood traumas. But this turned out to be so sweet. Who knew a random drunk hook up would turn into that? Crazzzzyyy!!! Loved it.

I really enjoyed this book, i absolutely hated all of her “friends” like honestly hate them. I WISH that in the epilogue that they just shitted on them and said how their lives went down hill. Overall loved scotty<3

I hated that she called him shithead, like why. Their “friends” also made me so angry. I’m sorry but if my best friend’s husband and friends continuously called me a whore/slut I would not speak to them again.

story aside, it was nice. the way the characters are with each other is it not it. I feel it could have been written better. alora and scotty were written way too nice when they could have been meaner to everyone else.

Such a cute and fun little hockey romance! Alora and Scotty are funny from beginning to end, and the chemistry is out of this world! This is a great book for a short trip or as a palette cleanser between series.

I wasn’t really sure what to rate this book as. It hovered between a 2 at some points but then would redeem itself to a 4 at others. Most of the time it was around a 3, so I stuck to that.
I don’t think I have ever hated as many characters in one book as this one. Alora was pretty unbearable, but her “friends” were even worse. I mean jeez they were horrible to her throughout the whole story. And Alora herself was just… ugh. After everything, I don’t know why Scotty would even like her. And for such a short book it was very repetitive- I felt like she talked about how she could never love anyone because she was a “sl^t” on every single page. A lot of things her dad supposedly told her when she was younger were said over and over. I just wanted to yell at her to get over herself and move on. My eyes hurt from rolling them so much lol.
The airplane part seemed like it was written by a whole different person and that action came out of nowhere. Not that I’m complaining since it was the most entertaining part. Fast paced and interesting, even if it did seem random.
And what happened with Annie and Kelvin?? I received an arc copy and my version was messed up so maybe it was also missing that part? Every single page had the page number, title, and author’s name randomly written in the middle of sentences with large gaps throughout the page so I hope nothing was missing.
