I hoped to find more psychology and instructional methodology in UNLearning: Leading Change without Resistance by Christine Kahane and Doug Krug. Instead I found a guide for adding better teamwork to impersonal, corporate settings. This guide is spot on with its recommendations, but I have encountered them in other books ranging from Braiding Sweetgrass to Go Together and from Daring Greatly to The Wisdom of the Bullfrog.

Ultimately, Kahane and Krug are challenging mainstream definitions of success: “At a time when decency has lost its hold on the public’s imagination, and self-interest so often masquerades as success, where will you stand,” they ask us readers. Mid-level management might find this book more palatable than the titles I mentioned earlier, but they all involve embracing vulnerabilities, sharing responsibility, and engaging and empowering teammates.
