An excellent study of the Lord's prayer, line by line, bringing many fresh insights. A good combination of illuminating the historical context, plus modern applications.

My favorite chapter dealt with "thy kingdom come." I needed to hear the urging to let go of my own selfish "kingdom" so I could receive God's kingdom.

As soon as I finished this book I wanted to return to the beginning and start all over. This in-depth study of the Lord's Prayer added to my understanding and increased my ability to apply what I learned to the way I live and believe. This is a book that I will probably read many, many times because there was just so much to take in, especially as what I read required action in my life.
This book comes with my highest recommendation!!

Renewing, reviving

It has taken me a long time to read this book because it is so much to process, it's not a book to read it's a book to soak in and allow the truth of the Scriptures it unpacks to shape and change you. I am thankful for this book it has changed the way I say and pray the words I know so well.

Excellent book! The author gives thought provoking insight into the familiar prayer that most of us have become complacent about praying. He gives a wonderful explanation into why Jesus asked us to pray this way. Highly recommend this book!

This book is amazing. I recommend it to everyone. While it is not Catholic and does not include an exegetical approach, it gives incredible insights into the applicability of the Our Father prayer in everyday life. I loved it. You will understand the prayer on an deeper level after reading it.

Read as a devotional! Loved how it broke down the Lord’s prayer sentence by sentence to explain everything.

I loved this book. Timms, generally asks the same questions that I ask when I read the Scripture.
Very Helpful!

Very good read, informed by very diligent study of writers from various branches of the Christian tradition, and informed by a realistic worldview.

After hearing a sermon series about the Lord's prayer and using it as a model for daily prayer life, I wanted to get some different perspectives on this prayer. This book contains some wonderful insights and treasures. There is one chapter devoted to the word "Our" and one devoted to the word "Amen." My favorite part was in the chapter "Yours is The Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory," in a section titled, "It's About Him." Its thesis: "The Bible is not about how God fits into our story but how we fit into his." History -- the rise and fall of early kingdoms -- points us to the Eternal Kingdom.

WONDERFUL BOOK!

I've read several books about the Lord's Prayer. Some by well known BIble scholars. This one topped them all for me. What a practical, easy to read, and unfaithful review of the prayer Jesus Himself used to teach us...not just how too pray, but how to live! Highly recommend!

An opportunity to understand why Jesus taught this to his disciples.

I have for years recited this prayer without ever putting much thought into what I was reciting. I looked at it as a pattern of how to pray, just as the answer to the disciples question to Jesus. After reading this book I have a much deeper understanding and appreciation of the prayer.

Read this for bible study. I enjoyed going through the Lord's Prayer a few words at a time. Lots of good stuff to discuss, yet the study guide questions felt contrived. Didn't agree with the author on everything but overall a good study.

This book truly expanded my knowledge of the Lord's Prayer like no other writings I've read. David Timm's went in deep leaving nothing out. I left this book repentant and ready to start anew with my life in Christ.

Probably the best book I've ever read on the Lord's Prayer. Timms went into a lot of fascinating detail and was able to apply his findings in a practical way without being preachy. Great book.

Read this as background for a Bible Study on the Lord's Prayer I helped lead. This is a GREAT book on the prayer, going word by word and phrase by phrase, and really capturing how Jesus' prayer reflects truth about who God is and what He values from the whole of Scripture.
