Unbroken was a very thorough account from a World War II survivor and his act of resilience. It starts with him as a kid being mischievous and talks about how he grows into a hardened trained runner eventually making his way to the Olympics. He then joins the war and his plane crashes with some of his fellow comrades some die he and another are then captured by the Japanese and is beaten and abused because of the war but mostly because of the personal vendetta the Japanese general has for him, because he's an Olympic runner. He fights everyday to survive and win in his own way, winning the fight by surviving. When the war ends he's is let free, he then forgives his capturers personally except for the abusive general who refuses to see him, he sends a letter, it goes without a reply. The book unbroken is a story of Louie zaperini and his act of resilience and patriotic act.
This is a great read and I can't be what this man goes through. It really makes one think long and hard about our p.o.w.s and the living he'll they went through. Absolutely recommend this book , and also the movie if you get a chance to watch it. Unbroken by Tara Waller , one of the better stories, well written, moving and for me a very worthwhile, sad , but must read book.
