I learned that Lovecraft is a racist, British people were really afraid of The Room, and Americans are funnier. Overall it gives a glimpse into the mystical and scary of that age.

Had I been a bigger fan of collection of stories this could have been a 3/5.

The title of this book is in my opinion very misleading, as none of the stories were shocking or contained amazingly scary plot lines.

Perhaps the second third of the collection was my favorite, as that section was the most interesting and did not require pushing myself to continue, as opposed to the rest of the collection.

Had it not been for those stories that book would have caused a reading slump. Also, there is a limit as to how often a story can use queerness/gay (old meaning) without it being tiresome.

Would not recommend, though it will look pretty on my bookshelves.
