“You’re an addiction I can’t overcome, no matter how hard I try.” – Rook Tyler

His life consists of his best friend, Jack Daniels, his favorite drug of choice and women. Rook Tyler lives for performing at night and wasting the rest of his days washing away the pain from his childhood so he doesn’t have to feel anything...ever. The only people he trusts are his band mates from Shattered Souls and he wants to keep it that way. His life was completely under control and simple until he heard the voice of Maisy Madison filter through The Tavern speakers.

Growing up in the foster care system with her two other band mates from Twisted Perfection, Maisy finds herself doing pretty much anything to get her and her band noticed but nothing seems to be working. One lucky night, Shattered Souls, the most popular band in the country, decides to show up at their little concert and luckily signs them on the spot. But the arena venues and massive amount of fans isn’t what has Maisy shaking in her heels. It’s the deep baritone voice of Rook Tyler that has haunted her dreams for years which has her wondering if she can actually go through with the tour.

The force is almost too strong. He can feel her everywhere he goes and no matter how much he tries to resist her, he finds himself gravitating towards Maisy, wanting to hold her, kiss her and touch her. He knows he shouldn’t get involved. He knows no matter what, he will end up hurting her but he can’t help it, his soul is connected to hers and the pull is too strong for him to resist.

Rook warned her time and time again but she doesn’t listen, she doesn’t want to listen. She needs him and she doesn’t care that she knows deep down in her heart that their relationship is going to end in disaster. She refuses to acknowledge that no matter what they do, their love is toxic.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Right before my vacation started, this happened . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

Which caused a reaction that looked a little summin’ like this . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

And also caused me to dig out the O.G. Nook . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

I was super stoked to drop a couple of free dollars on my girl Meghan Quinn, because she has delivered both the funny and the smexy for me several times over now. But this one????

Palm Springs commercial photography

Sadly it just wasn’t the same. By now I’ve become nearly immune to the occasional shout-out to the “moist folds” or the stupid pet name . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

However, Toxic kind of lost me altogether. At first I had high hopes that things would go well . . .

“You want me and you want me bad. If you’re too much of a pussy to recognize that, then you’re right, I want nothing to do with you. But, if you’re actually going to step up and be the man I know you are, let me know, because I’m ready to screw your brains out.”

But by the time we got through both Maisy and Rook’s daddy issues AND the fact that this featured not only their storyline, but also that of Grey and Quinn and Willow AND (kinda) Landon and Kaid and Cruz it was just too much AND then there was an eating disorder AND a “what defines cheating” side plot - which almost resulted in a 3-way that would have been splooshtastic, but ended up not delivering at all and also caused my husband to ask me stuff like this . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

And then the umpteen bazillion break-ups and make-ups and misunderstandings and #ohmygodsomuchdramaandangstandjustmakeitstopbeforeImurdersomeone . . . .

Palm Springs commercial photography

Yeah. This wasn’t the book for me. Good news is, I also bought the first in the “Hotlanta” series to prove I will still gladly drink Meghan Quinn’s delicious porny Kool-Aid in the future. What can I say? They can’t all be winners, but I’m glad I put some cash in this author’s pocket rather than some super douche.

Disclaimer: And NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I don’t know Meghan Quinn/have never interacted with Meghan Quinn, but I would if she asked me because I have a super big girl crush on her : )

I may be partial but HOT damn!!!

Rook Tyler = Holy Mother my lady parts are on FIRE!

I did some serious crushing on my main character, Rook Tyler. I couldn't help it. When you read about him, you will know why. You watched the trailer right? Well if you didn't here it is. Can we all agree...his abs look like freaking buttered biscuits getting ready to be served at Thanksgiving dinner!

He is a dark and brooding man with, well, a f*cked up childhood that has turned him to his best friend Jack Daniels for comfort. Good old Jack...straight up of course.

Rook is the lead singer in his band, Shattered Souls, and the lead guitarist as well. Pretty much sex God on stage. He is fine with living life in a numb, drug and alcohol induced state...until he meets Maisy Madison.

The book is written in multiple POV's. Each character has their own going-ons but they all come together for one cohesive story. The book likes to leave you hanging right when one POV is getting somewhere, then you get ripped away to another POV just to make you scream and raise your middle finger to whoever is in the room.

Language...quite colorful. It is a book about rock stars, it's kind of a given.

HEA, you ask? Well...I'm going to have to say...you might need to read to find out, but chances are you might come across a bit of a twist with a cliffy. Sorry in advance.

I will leave you with this, there is some definite dry humping (that shits hot, such a lost art), an almost threesome...almost (I was feeling frisky that day when writing), a brief appearance of edging (google it and then have some fun later) and some scenes that will most likely make you want to beat your head against the wall.

This shit needs a laugh track.
Not cuz it's funny "ha-ha."
Cuz it's just hysterically bad.

There are so many WTFs all over this; I'm just gonna stick to reviewing it by POV. You know, cuz there were so fucking many. The writing and plotting needed an editor or beta readers or another draft edit or something that could have made this redeemable. Everyone sucked as a character and everyone either cheated or wanted to...well, nearly everyone.

We're gonna go with the H/h being Rook/Maisy. There were so many POVs and so much stupid drama...there were times when I didn't know who the fuck the book was supposed to be about.

Now the h, Ms. Maisy:
A virgin...did not see that shit coming. Not sure how Rook did either. Maybe he has vir-dar...who knows...cuz the h never struck me as one in thought or action. Her character is all over the place...there's at least 6 main POVs. That doesn't leave enough word count to see anyone other than surface.

The H, Rook:
He calls her "boo" - sorry, I hate that nearly as much as I hate "sweetie" - just sayin'. At 70% he tells the h: “I’m an idiot, I can’t promise that I’ll be faithful, I can’t promise that I won’t drink or do drugs and I can’t promise that I won’t try to tear us apart.” At seventy-fucking-percent. He'd only had a lap dance from a naked woman at this point. He did fuck an OW in the last chapter tho...cuz, cliffy.

Then there's the triangle/square:

Quinn, GF:
She's the only one I feel sorry for. She has seriously mental and medical issues that her BF just pisses all the fuck over in his selfish pursuit of the OW...but he just lurves her so much he can't let her go first. But don't worry...a bunch of cheeseburgers cure her from her anorexia.

Grey, BF:
"Loves" the GF, but fantasizes about fucking the OW while he's actually fucking the GF. He is such a weak bastard. I positively hate him.

Willow, OW:
Skank. Then we're supposed to think she's the better person after she becomes friends with the GF and decides to no longer pursue the BF. But THEN. She flashes the BF after they decide they have to stop flirting. AND another time they had simulated sex (don't ask) and both get off...just sayin' - she's a hoochie and he's a cheater. Her motto: “A good titty flash always cured a rift.”

Landon, the bro of BF, semi-OM:
He secretly lusts after his bro's GF. He's also a closet Dom...(*eye-roll*)

Other characters:

Kaid, bandmate of Willow and Maisy:
I liked him the best. He was the only redeeming thing in the entire hot mess.

Cruz, manwhore musician:
Yup, asshole, man-ho with foot and mouth disease, cardboard character with a Latin name and no flava ;)

So SG Ladies, if you're still reading this review, it might be easier to make a list of who doesn't cheat. (Maisy, Kaid). Yay!!! 2 characters. Quinn and Landon don't technically cheat, but they get it on in the end as well.

Skip. This.

Toxic
Holy shit. I feel like my heart wAs just ripped out and trampled on. This book has so many possibilities for happily ever afters and no one got them. Well they each get happy endings if you know what I mean, bowchicawowow, but no ever afters. Well Landon kind of does. It's a huge kind of. So many of the relationships are toxic. It wasn't just Maisey and Rook. Landon and Quinn. Willow and Grey, that's toxic. Cruz and Maisey is toxic. Quinn and Grey. They're all toxic for each other and they just don't realize it. But I will say Rook takes the cake. Though Quinn gives him a run for his money. They both want their cake and to eat it too. I love you but don't want to be with you so I'm going to say who you can and can't be with. Oh hell no! I get how deeply Rook loves Maisey but how he betrays her, broke me. Literally my heart stopped and I couldn't believe it. I was like how many times are you going to do this on purpose asshole!! I feel like Kaid is the only one who didn't get screwed over or screw someone over. But this whole bunch they just lash out when they're upset, when they're hurt. They all just hurt those around them. You know, misery loves company and all. An each character is sexy as hell. Each. One. Of them. Sigh. This book was really good. It's continuous push and pull. Back and forth. Heartbreak after heartbreak. But will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat waiting .... Because we need to wait til the next book to find out how it all pans out. I really hope they all get their shit together. These bands have the capability to have multiple HEA. And since when is multiple a bad thing ;)

Is it possible to hate all the characters in a book? This author's books are not for me. Its like a challenge to myself to see if she can a write a character I give two shits about.

Wow, this book was so appropriately named!! I got whiplash from good times turning into bad times in the blink of an eye.

I have a weakness for rock star books, but I especially love a book that features the whole band and not just one character in each separate book.

Shattered Souls is the name of the band that ends up having Twisted Perfection opening for them on their tour. Twisted Perfection's member are Maisy and Willow, both very attractive women and Kaid, their "brother" by relationship.

The blurb for this book makes it sound like it's mainly about Rook and Maisy, but I think that's deceiving. Most of these characters have a main role. And while I loved them all at one time or another, I also found myself really disliking them at times.

Rook watched Cruz walk away and then turned and smiled at Maisy. She didn't think she could handle the new Rook. She liked it better when she was considered a piece of mold on a garden gnome's ass to Rook; it was much easier to handle her feelings.

And while things between these two bands seemed to be going well, don't hold your breath.

"You'd be a fool to want that. I'm not lying when I say I will destroy you. What's flowing between us is toxic. We can't get enough of it, but it will slowly kill us. I know I shouldn't expose you to such a thing, but I'm too damn selfish to stop myself. I want you, Maisy. I need you and to hell if I"m going to put your needs in front of mine.

And wow, the way this book ended left me shattered!! I am so very glad that I have book 2 ready to go!!

Be forewarned that there is a big cliffhanger! I can't wait to jump into book 2 to see how everything shakes out.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Toxic is the first book in the Addiction Series by Author Meghan Quinn, and it starts of the series with a bang (pun intended.). We learn all about bad boy manwhore Rook and innocent sweet Maisy. Both of their bands, Shattered Souls and Twisted Perfection, are on tour together but the chemistry backstage is throwing everyone for a loop. Toxic mostly tells the story of the dangerous and rocky relationship between Rook and Maisy, but we also get glimpses in to the love... pentagon (?) between Willow, Grey, Cruz, Landon, and Quinn. Lots of hormones raging with these folks! The only one seemingly not getting any action is Kaid, the male member (hehehe) of Twisted Perfection.

This story was quick to grab my attention, and kept me hooked (I couldn't stop laughing after I read the confused lesbian dig - see dirty excerpt below). It was a quick read, with a good balance between dirty and angsty goodness. Be forewarned, it is a cliffhanger! We have lots of unanswered questions for all of the characters at the end of this one! I can't wait to see how things shake out between the confusing mess of band members sleeping/not sleeping with each other, but mostly I am anxious to see what Maisy has in store for Rook. I will definitely be adding Book 2 to my TBR!

I loved all the characters in this book, and the different points of views. Even though I liked the different points of view, I hated it because I wanted to find out what was happening. I loved Rook and Grey, and Maisey. I had to keep reading to find out what happened next.

I feel like I have been waiting so long for this book to release. After watching the trailer I knew I HAD to read it. Watch it for yourself and see if you don’t one click Toxic.

Twisted Perfection is the name of Maisy, Willow, and Kinkaid’s “Kaid’s” band. They all grew up together in foster care. Once they were old enough they left the system to pursue their dream of making it big. The only place “big” they were making it was at dive bars around town. About tired of the stand still they seemed to be at Maisy had no clue that going into a seven-eleven would almost change their lives. None other than Shattered Souls, the biggest band hitting the charts at the time is who she would run into.

Shattered Souls band mates were Rook lead singer, every women’s wet dream → that loved his pussy and drugs. Cruz guitarist and bad boy → and is one cocky bastard. Grey Cross bassist → the level headed one. Grey also has a long time girlfriend Quinn. Quinn is also the stylist for the band and travels with them. And finally Landon Cross, he plays the drums and is the jokester of the group.

After Shattered Souls loses their opening band for their tour because Rook can’t keep his dick in his pants they are on the hunt for a new opening band. They are visiting The Tavern, a bar they played frequently before they made it big. None other than Twisted Perfection and the seven-eleven girl are playing. Rook can’t take his eyes off of Maisy. Everything about her calls out to him. He knows then that he is in trouble. They listen to Twisted Perfection play and they know they have their new opening act for their tour.

Rook knows this isn’t a good idea and doesn’t know how he is going to be able to hold back from Maisy’s big brown eyes. Grey on the other hand has his own problems with Willow. Poor Grey has a major hard on for her and her bombshell looks. He try’s to tell himself that he can control his lust for her but Quinn can see it in his eyes. Willow sure isn’t hiding what she wants from Grey either.

Rook slowly lets his walls down and let’s Maisy in. But then he shuts down so fast it leaves Maisy’s head spinning. Rook his the man of Maisy’s dreams and she never gives up on him. Over and over again they break one another only to get back together. Until the last and final time, when Rook tells her,

“I’ve told you time and time again. I will hurt you, we won’t last and I will ruin you. It’s bound to happen but damn if I can’t push you away anymore. You’re an addiction I can’t overcome, no matter how hard I try. I crave you every damn day of my life and I have a need to smell you, hold you and kiss you with every fucking fiber in my sad and pathetic body.”

“I’m not lying when I say I will destroy you. What’s flowing between us is toxic. We can’t get enough of it but it will slowly kill us.”

Maisy saw through Rook and what he was all about. To the outside world he was a hotheaded asshole. But when it was just the two of them he was a completely different man. The man that made her feel loved and whole.

He was a hurting soul, walking around the world just trying to survive, never really living.

So in the end will Maisy and Rook be able to work through their troubled pasts to make their relationship work? Or will he be right and prove that their love is toxic?

“I don’t know what’s worse, me being away from you or me being with you? They both hurt and they both cause me tremendous pain but one thing is for sure, I can’t stay away from you. You own me.”

I must say I LOVED this book, and I will be recommending it to my book friends! It was intense at times, funny… god was it funny. It pulled at my heart and made me want to cheer for Rook and Maisy. Then two chapters later I would want to cock punch Rook and rip off his balls.

The end was a major cliffhanger for me. And I’m not sure how I’ll make it until fall to see what happens next with Shattered Souls, Twisted Perfection, and the relationships that both bands have within them.

“What they had was fucked-up, crazy messy but it was real.”

Fuck me this was TOXIC!

Update -

FUCK ME!

I want to thank Meghan, yet again, for thinking of me again and asking if I wanted to join in with this kick-ass tour! HELL TO THE YES! Have you read this sexy arse's author's books!

Seriously.....

TOXIC , this is the best word tot describe it :)

Totally worth the name...

Rook Tyler is the lead singer of his band, Shattered Souls, and the lead guitarist as well. He is the epitome of all godly men, sex on legs.

He is fine with living life in a numb, drug and alcohol induced state...until he meets Maisy Madison.

“You’re an addiction I can’t overcome, no matter how hard I try.” ~ Rook Tyler

Maisy Madison is the lead singer of her band, Twisted Perfection. She along with Willow and Kaid, have been hop-footing around the adoption scene before they became legal, once they turned it was......see yaaaa!

And hellooo fame and fortune...or so they thought, all that of course got chucked to the wind when Maisy is thrown onto a crash-course with Shattered Souls, Rook Tyler!

This is a recipe for disaster.

"You'd be a fool to want that. I'm not lying when I say I will destroy you. What's flowing between us is toxic. We can't get enough of it but it will slowly kill us. I know I shouldn't expose you to such a thing but I'm too damn selfish to stop myself. I want you, Maisy. I need you and to hell if I'm going to put your needs in front of mine" ~ Rook Tyler

Along the journey we are kept entertained, bogged down with sadness, hot and sweaty with the steamy tid bit moments that Meghan likes to tease us with and totally pissed off at certain situations! we are shown the TOXIC relationship that blooms within the bands and between Maisy & Rook.

I love Meghan for doing this, as TOXIC is written in multiple POV's. Each character has their own going-ons but they all come together for one cohesive story.

Enter on this fuck train of Toxic goings on with the gang that consists of:

Rook
Maisy
Grey
Willow
Quinn
Kaid
Landan
and lastly playboy ~ Cruz

You will totally fall in love with these guys but scream your head off at them too, whilst wanting to throw your kindle at the fricking wall, for gods sake! (Well I did)

I think what Meghan wrote as a sneak peak is perfect:

"I will leave you with this, there is some definite dry humping (that shits hot, such a lost art), an almost threesome...almost (I was feeling frisky that day when writing), a brief appearance of edging (google it and then have some fun later) and some scenes that will most likely make you want to beat your head against the wall. ~ Meghan Quinn"

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review

I am such a fan! I will elaborate. I am such a fan of Meghan Quinn and the stories she writes; I have read two of them now and have never been disappointed. I have one more to read from another series and I can’t wait to dive in.

Toxic reeled me in from the first page. Books that have sexy alpha tattooed rock stars are one of my favorite types of books. Then add in sexy tattooed female rock chicks and I am in my glory. I like when there is commonality with the characters. This is not a story where opposites attract.

If you took chemistry in high school and ever did experiments you know that some components that are put together can cause an explosion, and other components are the perfect combination to get the best result and work perfectly together. The chemistry between these characters, Rook (I love that name) and Maisy, is a combination of both. It has the good and bad results. When it works it is beautiful to watch, but when it does not it is so painful. Rook and Maisy are very intense characters. There is no doubt that these two need to be together. You can feel that they are soul mates and neither can exist without the other.

I talk about Maisy and Rook in this review but I have to say that this is not just their story. There are others stories running parallel involving the other characters from the two bands: Grey, Quinn, Willow, Landon (there is quite a surprise for you with regards to Landon at the end of the book), Cruz and Kaid. Let me just say that these stories are just as emotional and enthralling and sexy as hell as what is going on with Rook and Maisy. You will get many points of view from almost this whole ensemble cast. There is so much sexual tension in this book that I needed a cold shower 99% of the time.

Toxic deals with many issues such as drug and alcohol abuse, molestation and physical abuse, and eating disorders. These issues in the book are written with realism and a delicacy that the author should be commended for. The only small peeve I had was that there was some repetition in the book. It was not much, just that a thought the character had was mentioned in an earlier chapter. I do not mind if the author felt the need to mention it again but maybe she could have changed it a little.

When I got to the very last page, my heart was in my throat, it was like I was listening to a crescendo of a song and then that song was cut off abruptly. I immediately screamed that I needed more, more! Yes this book ends in a cliffhanger not just with Rook and Maisy but the entire cast. I swear this author should write for TV. Meghan really gives great Drama!

I will be stalking her until part two comes out!!

***my blog received this as an arc for an honest review****

I give this book 3.5 stars... I wanted so bad to give it more but nope this rating seems fitting to my opinion.

When I started this book I was so excited! I had just finish another book of this author. So dipping into this book I knew her style of writing... What I mean is at times I found the book a bit too descriptive and a little repetitive with certain things ( big boobs, big brown eyes, etc)

So this book deals with two bands one that is already famous and one that is struggling to get famous! Perfect I love this! As I read the first two chapters I won't lie I was lost and loosing interest. Some things just didn't make sense to me...

But as I continue to read I started to get into the story. I totally loved all the guys diff personalities. I loved the bond they all had even if one of them was fucking up! Then you have the girls I liked them too they had their own attitudes and they all brought something diff to the story!

I know this book is about rook and macey.. But I couldn't seem to stop being interested in the side relationship going on with grey and willow! Who personally I think she is a bad ass..but back to the main characters! Rook is a broken guy and drinks and does drugs to make himself be numb. Macey is also a broken girl she had horrible things happen as a child. So obviously these two we're going to end up together! I found their story a bit too cheesy at times. But all in all I liked them as a couple. What I seriously couldn't stop myself from being mad was how bad I wanted them to do it already! Lmao grey and willow had more action going and these two were still only sleeping next to each other!!!!

Like I said I think this book is good but I think I want more of grey! I want to know him that's who I made a connection with!!!

(ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review)

Toxic is about two bands who are thrown together on tour. There is Shattered Souls which comprises of; Rook, Landon and Grey with Quinn as their stylist and Twisted Perfection which comprises of; Willow, Maisey and Kade.

I really wanted to love Toxic, it’s the first book that I’ve read from this author. It was a good read but I just couldn’t connect with the book. The writing style used just isn’t what I like and that’s no reflection on the author it’s just a personal choice. I like a book that shows me what’s happening rather than telling me. I can connect better with it, like I said personal choice.

I liked the storyline that runs through the book and I like where the author is going with it. It does get a bit repetitive in places and spends quite a bit of time in the heads of the characters, again a personal choice for me. I prefer books with more character and scene interaction.

The book is told in different POV’s which I love. You get to see in to the mind of most of the characters and the characters are such that you’ll either love ‘em or hate ‘em. Me, I loved them all and have a serious love hate relationship with Quinn. Can’t quite seem to settle with her and she makes for some seriously interesting reading.

What I also liked about this book is the fact that yes, it’s a rocker book but it does not spend all it’s time in sex scenes. It’s about the romance and the characters and the things theya re dealing with. I’m in no doubt that if this book would have been written in my preferred writing style then it would have made my top 10 of the year so far.

I was in high school in the 80’s. When Rock band were hot and there were concerts all summer. It was amazing. This story took me back to then and this time I got to hang out with the hot rock band. Frickin awesome…
Rook is the hot singer from Shattered souls. The name of the band fit perfect with Rooks life. His soul is shattered and he turns to the party numbing life. This is fine with him. Maisy is the lead singer of an unknown band Twisted Perfection. They play in dive bars paying their dues until when day their luck will change and be discovered.
When Shattered Souls is out visiting there old stomping ground they hear Twisted Perfection playing a set and the journey begins. Rook and Maisy are soul mate and they both know it. Rook has never let anyone in and he refuses to let Maisy in. Instead he decides to be a complete Ass to scare her away. Nothing scares Maisy growing up in foster care you learn not to be scared of anything. This is an amazing journey of 2 souls that belong together but their demons try to keep them apart.

The description of this book we think we are getting Rook and Maisy's love story, but we get so much more it is mind blowing. This book is told from every character's POV.
Here's the breakdown of characters. There's the band "Shattered Souls" who are big time they consist of Rook, Cruz, Landon, Gray plus there's Grey's long time girlfriend Quinn. The other band is "Twisted Perfection", which consists of Maisy, Willow and Kaid.
Rook and Maisy take us on an emotional roller coaster. They are instantly drawn to each other but fight it. Once they finally give in what a mess wonderful mess it turns out to be. They both have a truckload of baggage, and as for relationships go neither of them have ever had one. There's a whole other mess with Gray, Quinn, Willow and Landon. Cruz is the only one that does not get into a hot mess.
Lots of hot, steamy, spicy, juicy sex. The ending is heartbreaking.

Next book "Fame" is due out in the fall.

I finished this book in about 12 hours, and I have to say, I don’t do that at all very often. In fact, I stayed up until 2am, just to get to the end.

And my god, what an ending. I wanted to drag Rook off that book and punch him in the face (if I was Maisey, probably would have), but, hey, I’ll be honest, I had the same feelings for about 9/10ths of the book. My god, what an ass. A perfect match, Ms Quinn!

This is a story about a wonderfully sweet romance (much like my own), marred by the scars of the past and the actions of the present (kind of like my own). There was so much of myself and my fiancé that I can see in Maisey and Rook, and in Quinn and Grey. that it’s kind of a relief to see that there’s others like that.

All in all, one of the most awesome books I have ever read. i never, ever do this, but… 5.5/5

In Toxic, Meghan Quinn introduces us to Rook; hot, badass rocker with a tragic childhood and memories that he tries to drown in Jack Daniels. After hearing, and subsequently signing the band Twisted Perfection, he starts to have an undeniable attraction to the band’s front woman, Maisy. The chemistry between Rook and Maisy is obvious, but at the same time they are toxic for one another. As a fan of Meghan Quinn’s Hot-lanta series, I must say that she doesn’t disappoint me with this book either. She knows how to bring the soap opera-like drama and she has an unmistakable flare for leaving the story with a cliffhanger that will have you begging for more. If you love rockers and drama, and don’t mind a cliffie, then this book is perfect for you.

**Clap clap clap** Meghan Quinn has done it once again! I "accidently" threw my to-do list away so I could focus on reading Toxic cover to cover in one day. I couldn't put it down. The relationships that are developed (bro-mance, love, and friends)are authentic and real. You truly get swept away in each of the characters stories. Loved the main characters Rook and Maisy but one side character stole my heart--Grey *swoon*! (Read the book and you will totally understand why!) Looking forward to the next book but in the meantime I will be re-reading my favorite parts of this book (oh so many to choose from).

Another great book by this author. I love her style of writing in multiple POVs so you can get to know all of the characters instead of just the main characters. I loved one of the side characters the most, Cruz... he's such a jerk that you love him for it. The bro-mance between Landon and Kaid is absolutely hilarious! The main plot is about troubled Rook and sweet Maisy... there are lots of ups and downs to always keep you wanting more and your heart will go out to Rook. Can't wait for book two!!

I LOVED this book! I fell in love with all of the characters. I loved how Meghan had multiple story lines going in the book but they flowed together perfectly. One did not take away from the other. Her writing style definitely appealed to me, and then when I found out she lived in the same town as I do...it made me want to read even more of her books! I cannot wait for the second book in the series!

Toxic was addictive and so wonderful.

I was hooked from the start and with each page got addicted more and more.

Meghan gave as another amazing cast. Her writing style is unique. She writes in multiply points of view and each time she nails it.

Looking forward to read the next book in the series.

wow. what a read! Rook is from the Shattered Souls rock group. Maisy is with the Twisted Perfection group who is just starting out. The groups end up on tour together. The sparks fly anytime Rook and maisy are in the same room. Ms. Quinn tells another wonderful story with awesome characters.
There is a cliff hanger at the end so fair warning. I can't wait to see what happens!

Okay. Where do I start? In true Meghan Quinn fashion, this book has a lot going on. Yes, Rook & Maisy are the heart of this book, but their bandmates got a lot going on as well.

The band Shattered Souls is a chart topping group made up of two brothers, Landon and Grey, and their friends Cruz and Rook. There is also Quinn, Greys girlfriend, and the band's stylist. The five of them have know each other a long time and although they all come from different backgrounds, they are extremely close.

Then we have Twisted Perfection, consisting of Maisy, Willow and Kaid. The three of them grew up together in the foster care system and saw music as a way out. They have been struggling for years to make it and after a chance encounter with Shattered Souls, they find themselves going on tour as the opening band.

The minute Rook sees Maisy he is drawn to her. And he hates it. Rook doesn't like to feel. He'd much rather be drunk, high and numb to the world. And there was a reason Shattered Souls needed a new opening band and that reason was because Rook can't keep it in his pants.

So when he meets Maisy, he starts to doubt everything about himself. The more he gets to know Maisy, the more he wants things with her. Things he has never wanted. The two are deeply connected and throughout the book Rook tries to explain it all to Maisy:
“I know I haven’t been that obvious, but there is something about you Maisy that my soul wants. Whenever I’m around you I want to be holding you, touching you, feeding off of you. My body craves yours and I’ve been a stupid ass to deny myself for this long. Well, I’m done. I want you, Maisy.”

“Before she could protest and start a fight, he continued. “I don’t share, Maisy. I’m not good at being in a relationship. I've actually never been in one, so I most likely will fuck up more times than I make you happy, but I can’t stay away from you. I need you to be mine, but I’m warning you, if you decide to be with me, I’m not perfect and I will most likely hurt you. I’m fucked up in so many ways. I have issues and I’ll bring them into our relationship. You just can’t give up on me easily. If you’re willing to deal with that, then I want you to be with me.”

"Rook told Maisy that whenever they were near each other he would be either holding her hand, touching her, or making some kind of skin contact. He needed the warmth for himself, but he also wanted anyone walking by to know that she was his, that was why he was still holding her hand, sending her that reassurance that he was there for her."

“Never, not even possible, so stop thinking that way. When it does happen for us, it’s going to be so much more because we have a connection. We’re connected by our souls and no one can change that.”

“None,”he responded. “Because I didn’t fuck you last night. We made love and I’ve never done that with another woman before. You were my first all-nighter, you were my first multiple times in a night and you were the first woman I’ve ever woken up next to. Sex before you was a release that I needed, it was never about connecting with someone like we connected last night. It was a meaningless act so my balls didn't fall off.”

It's all very intense, like these two were made for each other intense, soulmate intense. But both Rook and Maisy have a lot of demons in their past that come to the surface, so their relationship is not all sunshine and roses. They are constantly facing obstacles that puts their relationship to the test and the book ends on a major cliffhanger. One that had me crying and thanking God that I already had an ARC of the next book. Although I did have to take a day or two to recover...I was left with a massive book hangover.

The other major storyline is the kind of love square between Grey, Quinn, Willow and Landon. Grey and Quinn have been a couple for a long time, but their relationship is starting to break. Quinn has her own health and self esteem issues and is all over the place. And Grey is attracted to Willow and is doing a really bad job of hiding it. Willow has had feeling for Grey before she even met him and those feeling only intensify once she actually spends some time with him. Meanwhile Landon has been harboring feelings for his brother's girlfriend from the moment he met her. It's all very dramatic. By the end of this book we have some sort or resolution, but you know that everything is far from over.

Kaid and Cruz are just kind of hanging out in the background. Kaid is the one the girls can run to and confide in. He forms a nice bromance with Landon and it's cute. Cruz strikes up a friendship with Maisy that is never anything more than that, although it drives Rook crazy. He's the fun loving, sarcastic guy of the group and I spent most of the book hoping he would find himself a girl. By the end of the book he does, but it's not necessarily the one I would have chosen for him.

Like I mentioned earlier, there is A LOT that happens in this book, but the author did a great job of keeping everything very clear. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing what happens next.
