Rate this book
Nobody's perfect. Except Lia Copeland. She's flawless. And worshipped. And hated. From her perfectly proportioned figure and enviable bone structure to her instinctual talent for clothing design and cavalier attitude, Lia's the woman every other woman wants to be and every man wants to have. Catapulted from sigh-maker in the high-school halls to superstardom in the fashion world, she makes it look easy. A girl like that has everything; every reason to be happy. Then why does Lia Copeland just want everyone to leave her the hell alone?
Behind the dazzling light of Lia's successes is a dark tale of fear, betrayal and confusion, leaving her with unfathomable anger--and so many questions. Chief among them: why is apathy threatening to take over her life? She forces herself to look to both inside and outside sources of the problem, leading her through a maze of emotions and relationships as she carries out her quest.
From the friends of Lia's youth--her best friend, Maddie, her tragic kinship with Doug, the tangled love triangle between her, Doug's cousin, Chad, and her pal, Wilson--to her later-day bond with her mentor, Jade, and therapist Ruth, Lia discovers the necessity of friendship and forgiveness.
A story about the choices made in the wake of travail and tragedy, it explores relationships with all their messy and marvelous moments and magnifies the beauty, wonder and endurance of first love.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl.

Flawless is a perfect title for this book! There isn't an exact plot per say, but it's a captivating story about love, loss, making amends, and finding oneself. I immediately loved Lia - she's snarky, witty, intelligent, and beautiful. She has her flaws, that's for sure, but that made her more real to me. Some things she did frustrated me, but no one makes decisions without emotion behind them - emotion that sometimes clouds your judgement.

I felt like I was hanging out with Lia and her high school friends, too. It was painful to see them drift apart after high school because while my group of high school friends all still talk on Facebook, they've all moved away to different states. But this story begins in 1995, when there was no such thing as Facebook, and barely anyone had the Internet in their home.

The situation with Chad was confusing to me. I don't think Lia gave him a chance because she had strong feelings for Wilson that she was in denial about. Wilson became bitter towards her, and it came out of nowhere as though he had been holding it in for the past two years of their friendship. It wasn't fair to her. Each one of her friends with the exception of Maddie took turns berating Lia, and I didn't understand why. Why all of a sudden beat up on her when they seemed to be content before they graduated? They knew Lia didn't care about her Queen Bitch reputation and didn't want all the attention she received.

Flawless jumps ahead in time throughout the book - not so much that it's confusing; the story flows along seamlessly, and in this way, you get to see Lia's growth as a character and the things she discovers about herself. We follow her from high school to college to her career. I didn't understand at first the black pit she describes she feels in her chest at times unless she was talking about severe depression? She struggled with her apathy, even when it came to her friends. I knew there had to be deep issues causing it, and as the story went on, I began theorizing as to what was going on.

Flawless is a deeply emotional novel that packs and punch and will resonate with you for a long time. There are fun moments, and then there are sad moments just like in real life. I felt the emotions of Lia as though I was right beside her. The dialogue is absolutely fantastic - this is a well written book that I can't recommend enough!

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you!

Flawless is a rollercoaster from the first page to the last. It will definitely make you laugh, but it will also make you cry your heart out. It will teach that life isn’t the way you think it is, and people don’t always feel the way they act. You can seem happy, confident and with the most perfect life in front of other, but deep down you know that this is all a façade. This story will teach you mostly, the importance of life and how you can change it when worst moments come. The whole story was enthralling to read!

Our story stars with a group of kids that are in high school, our queen bitch is Lia Copeland. Everybody think she is flawless, perfect to every point, the greatest clothes and makeup, beautiful, all that a girl would wish, especially at that age. But nothing is as it seems. Lia jumps from one relationship to another and trying to figure out what she wants to become.

After a while, high school ends, we get to see the changes from child’s to adults that are trying to live their dreams. Lia’s life is a true rollercoaster. Her life expectations are so high that she can destroy herself, just continuing to fight. She realizes that she is indeed with flaws. She hides a deep secret, but it’s trying to get to know her first, to really figure out who she is and what she wants to do with her life.

This book was perfect! I connected with Lia at some points, fighting for who she is and struggling to succeed. It was a heart breaking book, but the ending was perfect. The author managed to create the perfect cliffhanger, and it’s going to keep you to the edge of your seat. In the end, I just want to say I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a good story! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

Where do I start with this book? I am still having problems keeping my emotions in check while writing this because I fell in love with all 6 characters! This book is probably a dark contemporary or maybe a dark NA.

The books focuses mostly on Lia's life and her friends. Lia is considered a 'bitch' that's the only term that's depicted in the beginning of the book. She doesn't mean to be don't get me wrong but she keeps herself closed off from her friends and keeps them at arms length. Everyone in school hates her but yet wants to be her!

There's 5 in the group total. We have Lia which as I said is the more or less head leader of the pack. There's John the goofball/muscle, Maddie the 'mediator' she trys to make everyone keep calm to see the logical side of things. Doug with the brains he was probably my 2nd favorite one in the book. Then there's Wilson he's Lia's soulmate or that's what they call each other. But its not what your thinking the way we think a 'soulmate' is. Lia and Wilson have this bond that's unbreakable no matter what life throws at them. They always manage to pull each other out of the dark but its mostly Wilson that does all the work.

We start off in 1995 with Lia and how her life has evolved and it continues until 2007 I don't want to spoil anything in this book and though it was given to Nerd Alert for an honest review this next part may contain some spoilers.

Lia has a strong apathy towards her friends even her mom and dad. And the one person that can break through that is Chad!!!!! I fell in love with him at times you will find yourself not understand Lia and why she just won't let go and FEEL because its obvious she loves him but she denies herself thinking its Wilson that she loves until its too late. So your left wondering while reading will they ever make it back together its been years people change, life moves on etc..etc... Then tragedy happens and pulls him back in her life. And you think for one second things will finally work out for Lia but once again she pulls herself back and not give him a chance regardless what his circumstances are. Though at times I can't blame her but as she goes to therapy things come to light why she's the way she is and it blew me away. I knew something bad happened but not like this. She pushes him away and goes on her with life once again. She has a booming career and eventually the therapy works for her and helps her come to the realization that its ok to love and to show love.

Then I be damned if tragedy happens again as if I can't take much more and I truly think Lia will lose it but she doesn't. Chad is there and in some weird way the two people she's lost in the book is there with her and telling her what to do in a strange way.

Here's some favorite parts of the book. "During the critical teenage years when I'd first befriended him he was my champion and my safety net. I'd felt that nothing bad could really happen to me when I was with him. And then he grew into the loving, compassionate man we all knew: the man whose main goal in life was to have a happy family. Along the path of his life he attained many other successes--thriving in the business world and forging friendships along the way, but I know he was most content about achieving his goal of creating a happy family life.

"Such an appealing mixture of competency and compassion surrounded him. Like signature cologne, it clung to him. And even when I wasn't near him any more I could sense that sweetness in the air where he'd stood." I closed my eyes and took a breath, forgetting for an instant where I was. "I feel it still." I added softly.

Lia picks out words that were written by Mary Ainge De Vere and the words touched me and of course made me cry again and those words fit him perfectly.

"Give love and love to your life will flow. A strength in your utmost need. have faith and a score of hearts will show. Their faith in your word and deed. Give truth and your gifts will be paid in kind. And honor will honor meet and a smile that is sweet will surely find. A smile that is just as sweet for life is the mirror of king and slave. "Tis just what we are and do then give to the world the best you have and the best will come to you. "Goodbye, my friend," I whispered to myself as I stepped off the podium.

The book will effect you emotionally on levels beyond your control because in real life its happened. Maybe not to me but I'm sure to someone close to me or even a associate. This maybe a fiction book but I felt everything that Lia went through her life is dark and controlling her feelings and her mouth is beyond her comprehension until it hits her why she's this way. Can her friends and her love bring her back? You will have to read to find out.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
See my full review here.

I've been thinking about this book nonstop since I finished it. To say that it left an impression on me is an understatement. I am cold, but I don't think it's the reason I'm shaking so badly. I feel like that says more about my mental health than the actual book, but I'm getting to my point, don't worry.
This book intrigued me right from the get-go. Have you read that description up above? If you haven't, read it.
If you have, read it again.
I swear I started crying again when I did. But I'm going to stop now so I don't freak you out.

So here's how it goes:
I love this book. If you can't already tell. This is what I would call dark contemporary at its finest. It's told in two parts. The first is in 1995. The second is in 2007. When I saw that, I knew I was in for a hell of a ride. This is kind of how Both Sides Now was divided up - Before and After style. I loved it last time, I loved it this time. It provides the dramatic flair I so crave in these sorts of things.
The beginning fits the synopsis perfectly. And then from there, it blew my mind. As each character was introduced, as I learned more about Lia, as stuff kept happening... I read the PDF version of this (Thank you, Shane!) and it had 807 pages. I was hooked from the beginning, but I just tore through those last 600 pages. I'm not even kidding. If I could've read it all at once, I would have. But in a way, I'm glad I didn't. I feel like I really know the characters. I connected with them so deeply.

Characters
The entire story is told from Lia's POV. I must say, I loved seeing the world through her eyes. In the beginning, it was just the apathy. Somehow that drew me in. I understood her. Which might be scary, but that's a discussion for another day. Here, in this review, I love Lia. Did she screw up? Hell yeah. She even screwed up in ways I would. Usually that pisses me off so much. I've hated characters for stuff like that. But not Lia. I feel like that says a lot.
From there, there are her lifelong friends: Wilson, Maddie, John, Doug. And then, as the synopsis says, Chad comes into the picture.
As soon as he showed up, I was wary. I was stuck on Wilson. And then Lia expressed all her confusion and I like. Wow, I feel the same way. It was so weird. But it was yet another reason that I loved Lia.
There are a few others. Jade and Ruth, as it says above. I won't say anything about them because I want you to experience their characters on your own. They were certainly not at all what I had expected.

Plot
I feel like there's so much to say. And yet, nothing. I don't want to ruin anything. It explored a lot of really deep stuff. I'd say it covered just about everything life could throw at you. Roughly speaking, of course. There was tragedy and beauty and wonder. Ultimately, it was a story about love and life.
Lia spent the book trying to figure out her past, what that meant for her present and future. It was the greatest thing ever. There are clues all over the place, if you know where to look. That's the only reason I basically guessed her past. I say basically because there were a lot of hints that didn't make sense until it was all revealed. So even though I got most of it, there was stuff that surprised me.
I loved that, too.
There were twists and turns, romance, friendship, betrayal...
In the end, I have to say that I wish I had a nice physical copy of this book. I would pay for this book. And read it over and over. And probably cry every single time.
It was beautiful, beautiful stuff.

Rating: 5 stars

Why: I've liked a lot of the stuff I've read recently. But I haven't felt like this in a while. "This" being a wonderful mess.

Recommendation: Above all, I recommend this to dark contemporary fans and those who like mysteries. I recommend this to those who like psychological thrillers, because there is a lot of that. There's soul searching and exploring the mind and hidden memories. I recommend this for people looking for an unconventional love story. This is truly something else

Wow! This book was nothing like I expected it to be! I thought it might be a lighter New Adult read, but it dealt with some heavy issues (depression, suicide, divorce, death, rape, PTSD etc.). It was a total emotional rollercoaster. Even though it was a lengthy read I couldn't put it down. I finished it in a day and a half.

Part one starts in 1995 and covers the time that Lia and her friends are in high school and partway through college. I really liked Lia. She is the girl that every boy desires and every girl envys. She is surprisingly indifferent to the attention, and that has led to her nickname "ice queen". She is beautiful, smart and creative, but closed off emotionally. She also has no memories of her childhood and isn't close to her parents. She has a small tight knit group of friends and spends all of her time with them.

There is a little bit of a love triangle in this book. Lia has a really close relationship with her friend, Wilson. She actually refers to him as her soulmate. However, while Wilson has romantic feelings towards Lia they are not returned. Then, Lia meets Chad, the cousin of her friend Doug. Oh, how I love Chad! He has movie star good looks, he's driven, intelligent and on his way to being a lawyer. Lia finds herself actually having feelings for Chad and they begin an on and off again relationship. A tragedy occurs within the group of friends, and things will never be the same for them. Part one ends with Lia leaving for New York to attend FIT and pursue her dream of becoming a clothing designer.

Part two picks up in 2007. All of the friends are married, and having children. The exception is Lia. She has gone on to become a successful clothing designer, but is still closed off emotionally. She has had a few hookups, but hasn't had a real relationship since Chad 10 years prior. A majority of part two deals with Lia visiting with her therapist and uncovering the event that has resulted in her being so closed off emotionally and unable to remember her childhood. This really helps the reader understand why Lia is the way she is and the nature of her relationships with her friends and family better. Tragedy strikes her group of friends again (I didn't expect this one and was a little mad about it)! This forces Lia and Chad to finally come face to face again (which I loved). I thought the ending was perfect.

My only complaint is that they book felt a little too long and I found myself skipping pages every so often to get to the good stuff.

What I liked: The imperfections in each of the characters. From poor judgement, to narcissism, and even the moments of jealous-hate, the imperfections in each of the characters made me love them all the more. I went into this book not realizing how true so many of this books reviews are, it's completely five star worthy! From Lia, who we follow in late high school all the way to her thirties, we have a character who knows something is missing in her life. We follow her as she makes mistakes, makes human choices that don't always end like she hoped. You can feel how she feels, all the hope and desperation, and so much more. I doubt I'll ever be able to explain everything I liked with this book because there's just so much about this book that I enjoyed. The journey was long (over 700 pages!) but I'm incredibly glad the author chose to wait and let me read the revised edition of this novel. It was absolutely fantastic and I read it all in a day because I just couldn't put the book down! Suffice to say, while there's so much to read in the novel, it's worth the read because of the connection I felt to the story and to emotions it pulled out of me.

What I didn't like: Sometimes there were moments that lacked the punch I was expecting from the reveals, especially the big reveal of the story that we learn, the reason behind her apathy. I just felt it could have been delivered better with all the tension leading up to the reveal. Though Lia's reaction was apt for such a reveal, it's delivery just felt like it was slightly lacking.

Overall Review: Flawless is a beautiful book, full of love, loss, hope and so much more than I can tell. Lia is a character who is flawed and imperfect just like any human and incredibly relate-able with her story. Every chapter is riveting and full of emotions, each character a pile of personality traits and characteristics and quirks shaped so wonderfully into memorable characters who you'll remember long after you finish the book.

Recommend?: I do! Incredibly so. It's a beautiful book and though I have a ecopy of it I am definitely getting a physical copy of this book ASAP to hold and cherish and read a million times over. This is for me my pick of the year in all the books I've read and a must-read!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review....

This book was touching and heartfelt but also heart wrenching at the same time. We are given the story of Lea over a span of ten years and we travel along in her journey to find herself along with the answers that are hidden within the deep recesses of her brain. The relationships with Wilson, Chad, Doug, Maddie, John, and her parents are painted beautifully and also realistically. No ones life is "flawless" regardless of what it may look like on the outside. We are all beautifully flawed and through this book we see that in Lea. I found myself torn between her relationship with Wilson, her best friend and soulmate, and Chad her boyfriend. I did not know who I really wanted her to choose, but the author did both of those relationships justice in the best way possible.

Lea had a tragic past that like in life shapes her future and for years she struggled with the unknown, and like an onion her layers were slowly revealed to the reader. I felt her struggles and uncertainty through the pages of this novel. (I am not a fan of spoilers in reviews so I will not go into explicit detail), but from page one we quickly see that there is more to Lea than what meets the eye and as the story progresses we find out exactly what is below the surface.

The one thing that kept me from giving this a five star rating is the length. Some portions of the book get a little wordy and leads to scenes that could be omitted, but even through that I could not stop reading. I recommend this book, it is a wonderful story of love, relationships, self acceptance, and recovery.

THE THREE R's

Review:
A story about maturing: learning to face the past and moving into the future. Ultimately, a story about love: platonic, romantic and familial.

It starts out as a high school story but soon becomes more than that. The reader follows the protagonist on an astonishing story, spanning a decade, of self-discovery, love and truth As the book progresses, Lia is forced to look inside and find the source of her problems in an emotional journey that will change her perception of others and who she is.

In the short time I spent with this book, I fell in love with the characters. A salute to true friendship. Lia is strong but it's her friends who make the most difference in her life; they are the source of her strength. From soulmate Wilson to pensive Doug, and nice Maddie and confused Chad.

Oh, Chad!

I want to slap him and hug him at the same time.

I'm not going to reveal any spoilers but I was crying on more than one occasion. If you pay attention, the clues to unlock Lia's past are sprinkled around the book. Enjoy tying everything together at the end.

There were some sentences that, when read aloud, felt stilted somehow; like have cotton wool in your mouth while doing a tongue twister. Apart from that. a lovely read.

Rating:
Hot! Not too preachy but the message still resounds clearly: it'll be alright. In the end, everything will fall into place.

Recommend?
Yes; as this is a New Adult book (with adult themes), I can only recommend for those over 18.
Also, trigger warnings!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

In all honesty at first I could not get into this book, even half way through i was still at a loss for the overall jyst of the book. But I must say after getting to the end of it and replaying it all over in my head it finally clicked with me.

There are so many different words that i could give this book and I dont even know where to begin. This was definatly a love hate relationship between me and the book and all the characters but i do have to hand it to Jen Sadera on a well written book. Parts of it i was not into while reading them but i can now say that i really got to know the characters in the book and would say if it were real life they would be my friends after going on this journey of 10 years with them all. I cried when all that happened with Doug, I cried when Lia remembered her past and even at the end i cried. this was a very emotional book and just reading it you can feel all the emotions coming out of it.

I think this is the most contradicting review i have ever written but can certainly say at times i didnt get into the book but yet there was just something about the writing that kept me going and wanting to see what was going to happen with the group of friends and their lives.

Emotional, rich, and deep—definitely more than I expected.

Even though I was at first drawn to the description of Flawless "Behind the dazzling light of Lia's successes is a dark tale of fear, betrayal and confusion…" this novel turned out to be more than I expected. And I wasn't disappointed. I got so wrapped up in Lia's character—the love triangle between Lia, Chad, and Wilson; her dark past that she had no memory of; her fear of commitment—that I had to keep reading. The more I read, the more I was pulled in. And even though I kept trying to guess the outcome of Lia's love life and figure out her past, I was continuously surprised. There was so much depth to Lia's character, and all of the characters seemed so real to me. I felt that I knew each one personally. This story was emotional, rich, and deep, and the ending totally unpredictable, yet made sense and was happily satisfying. FLAWLESS is a book that you don't read only once. I know that in the future, I'll revisit it again.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Overall, it was a good story. I really do hate to leave anything less a good review but, I found it to be very wordy and long. Sometimes I felt it was hard to hold my attention.

I loved how this group of friends were so close, but to me it seemed they were all dealing with mental health issues.

I couldn't seem to warm myself to Lia. Wilson and Maddie were the only two of the friends that I really liked. Also, when Jade came along I really loved her. I was really disappointed with how her relationship with Chad went.

So many things in this book were unrealistic. I know that there is a large group of people today that suffer with emotional issues, but to me this book was down right depressing. I found myself skipping through paragraph after paragraph.

The last two chapters of this book held my attention, although sad. I don't feel that I really got any closure with this book considering how long it was!

I received this book in return for an honest review... Wow. I'm conflicted in how and what to write. I have a love-hate reaction to this book but in the best of sense. Flawless was devastatingly & beautifully complicated. when I first started reading I was thinking this is good then I thought, it's dragging a bit, then it moved so fast forward I thought ...please don't be over, it was such a rollercoaster of a read as far as emotions went I'm struggling with my end thought. And I came to realize that it was written the way it was meant to be. The "dragging" part was not so much dragging as it was the set up for the things to come and necessary to be played out the way they did, I'm glad I stuck with it. I loved the characters, the evolving friendships and every drama filled sentence. And although I'm torn about how I should feel about the ending, I think it was...Flawless. The only downside is I want more...This is definitely a book to read and an author to follow.

I was chosen to do an honest review of this book. I just finished it and don't know what to think. It isn't a light read. It wasn't a quick read. Yet, it was a great book.

I wasn't expecting the time frame of the book. It started in high school and ended when they were in the thirties. That time frame allowed the reader to see the growth of the characters and really see how their lives turned out. What made them who they were.

Some parts I felt went too quickly. I would have liked more but it was a very lengthy book. I think this easily could be multiple books but I'm glad it's not. I'm hoping there is a sequel. I'm going to need one!

Lia has a life in high school most girls envy. She gains attention from everyone but it very selective of who she lets in. Her closest friends are perfect and keep her steady. As they grow up, she learns more about her friends, her relationships and herself that will forever change her.

Great book! Glad I had a chance to read and review.

"Flawless" is a compelling story of life which is often comprised of contradictions and mis-directions, requiring step-by-step micro re-inventions of one’s character and value systems. The title is appropriate because the main character Lia is indeed flawed as she hides a deep secret but the author craftily holds this secret back to draw us into Lia’s rollercoaster life. She reaches highs that only dreamers can dream about and crashes to lows that nearly kills her resolve to survive. Following Lia, her estranged boyfriend and her high school friends makes the book a compelling engaging read. Through the interactions of the various characters, every shade of emotion comes forth, climaxing in a surprising ending. A great debut book.

I'd have to say that I truly enjoyed this book. It's enticing in the sense that even just after reading a few pages, you'd already be hooked. It's always fun to read books that make you feel like you are a part of the story and this book is definitely something like that.

I like the writing style. It's written in such a way that youngsters and those who are young at heart will both appreciate and enjoy it. It's fresh, it's straightforward and if you enjoy books such as Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, The A-List and the like, you'd absolutely adore this book.

It also shows you that even though you get to attain success, you should still know the value of friendship and love in your life.

This book is neatly done and is well-written. You should definitely check it out.

I have to say that I completely LOVED Flawless! After reading it I felt like I had really lived all those years and those memories were all mine. The author brought tears to my eyes with her writing and story. Yet, I have never in my life read a book and taken away so much from it! I feel like I have a whole new percpective on life. Flawless was kind of eye opening for me. Being a huge reader, I’ve always loved escaping reality and into a new world. But never have I read a book that felt like I was living reality in a new world. I applaud Jennifer on her talent and amazing novel!

I rate Flawless: 5/5 cups of coffee! It was Flawless ;)

DREAMER'S REVIEW***
Flawless takes you on a ride that you won’t soon forget. It was filled laughter and it brought tears to my eyes. The point is no one is perfect; you can have everything and still have nothing. This is the story of a girl name Lia and the hell that she faces, whiles everyone else think that she is flawless on the out, she faces darkness fear and betrayal. This is one book you will not forget any time soon. There is a lesson to be learned and you will not walk away untouched I was overjoyed to read and recommend this book to my family and friends.
We are dreaming on 5 dreams****

I was given this book by the author for my honest review.

Seeing the world through Lia's eyes, I think, this is how I can sum up this book.

From her teenage college life when she was such a bitch, one of those bitches who really isn't a bitch but uses it as a smoke screen. One of those bitches who you hate to have around. Don't we all know or remember one of those in our lives? I sure do.

Moving on in time we see Lia mature, backtrack and move on.

I think this was wonderfully written with a lot of feeling for the character, so much so, I thought she was sitting right by me telling me her story. I couldn't do anything else until I heard how it ended.

Superbly told.

I received this book for an honest review.

Not really sure what to say about this book it was very emotional. The book took you on an emotional roller-coaster. It made me cry and laugh. I found that the book was a long read. I found sometimes there was stuff that was dragged out and could have been skipped but in the end everything came together and made for a really good book. I really enjoyed all the characters, and the friendships that they had. I was kind of disappointed in the end of the book, even though I found it a long read I was still wanting more.

Glad I got the opportunity to read this book.

I can't decide if this is 4 or 5-stars. When I first started this book I thought it was going to be another awful YA book with way too much dialogue. In fact, I thought Lia's "deep dark secret" was that she drank too much. Although she does that is not at all what it's about it. It's about life, love, and our flaws, and how they shape us.
Lia's story spanes more than a decade of her life and is truly heartrending, though not depressing. If you read this story, you're going to cry for at least half of it.

I was surprised at the extent of the character development and the way I was drawn into the group of friends depicted throughout the novel. I am pretty good at figuring out endings, thought I had it figured out but this one caught me by surprise. I felt very attached to the characters, and have thought about them frequently even after finishing the novel. A real page turner and I couldn't put it down. I would highly recommend the book (age appropriate warning though probably 18 and above). Brings the reader back to a time that we can all relate to.

I'm currently a full time student with a full time job and I still managed to read this book in a week! It really is a wonderfully written, enjoyable read. I heard about it from a coworker who said they loved it, so I bought it the next day, and I'm so glad I did! I got lost within Lia Copeland's world, the glory and the struggle of it all. I suggest you read this book, everyone can relate!

This book is fantastic.

It is a roller coaster ride right from the get go and is not the light, easy read you may expect. Many issues and obsticles pop-up throughout the book that take you in an unexpected direction.

I couldnt put his book down and read it in under 24 hours. Wonderful, wonderful read.

I liked what this book had to say. I felt like I really got to know the characters and at first I didn't like the main character, Lia, but I felt like I really got to know her as the story went along and she went through such tragedies. In the end I was really rooting for her!

Excellent read. Think of a 'Mean Girls' attitude meets 'Dawson's Creeks'' heart, and you have a small idea of this book. The main character, Lia, is both flawless AND flawed, and she carries you thru the read. Very good.

Description According to Amazon, “Nobody’s perfect. Except Lia Copeland. She’s flawless. And worshipped. And hated. From her perfectly proportioned figure and enviable bone structure to her instinctual talent for clothing design and cavalier attitude, Lia’s the woman every other woman wants to be and every man wants to have. Catapulted from sigh-maker in the high-school halls to superstardom in the fashion world, she makes it look easy. A girl like that has everything; every reason to be happy. Then why does Lia Copeland just want everyone to leave her the hell alone?
Behind the dazzling light of Lia’s successes is a dark tale of fear, betrayal and confusion, leaving her with unfathomable anger–and so many questions. Chief among them: why is apathy threatening to take over her life? She forces herself to look to both inside and outside sources of the problem, leading her through a maze of emotions and relationships as she carries out her quest.
From the friends of Lia’s youth–her best friend, Maddie, her tragic kinship with Doug, the tangled love triangle between her, Doug’s cousin, Chad, and her pal, Wilson–to her later-day bond with her mentor, Jade, and therapist Ruth, Lia discovers the necessity of friendship and forgiveness in order to reach a life-affirming resolution.
A story about the choices made in the wake of travail and tragedy, it explores relationships with all their messy and marvelous moments and magnifies the beauty, wonder and endurance of first love.”

MY FIRST THOUGHTS:

I went into this book expecting it to be a good yet extremely long book with some un-unique qualities to it
I was proven wrong.
I only went into this book knowing the description of this book because I didn’t want my views to be swayed
So in this review I will keep thing non-spoiler and it will tell you my honest thought and opinions on this book.
MY THOUGHTS DURING AND AFTER READING THE BOOK:

As I was reading the book I thought It was going to go one way and then it pulled a 180 on me.
This book hits many details that are triggering such as sucide, rape, and death so proceed with caution.
The relationships in this book was a key part to me as I was able to see them going from naive teenagers to functioning adults.
The Main characters development was the BIGGEST development in my opinion.
In the beginning the character is a certain type of person, yet as you read it the character becomes more understandable on some areas and you don’t get annoyed with her.
The description of the book which I will provide to you doesn’t do this book justice as This book goes into more complex, and deeper levels even imaginable.
I do understand that this book is larger than the average contemporary or any book really but it needed to be this big as if it wasn’t you wouldn’t be able to feel for the character as strongly and closely. Also if this book was a duology it wouldn’t have worked out as you would slowly forget the book plot and you would become emotionally detached from the character having to wait for the next book. So this book was perfect, length wise, yet it is long.
There is so much to say about this book but words just don’t do it justice. This book is like when a child walks out into the snow for the first time. It is new, refreshing, amazing, complex, and unique.
I GIVE THIS BOOK A 5/5 STARTS AND HIGHLY SUGGEST GETTING THIS BOOK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
