Chaos: Overcoming the Overwhelming

Rate this book
Why did you choose to read this book description? Is it because of the cool cover? It’s okay...we have all judged a book by its cover at one time or another. Or is it because the word Chaos completely describes your life right now? Or maybe, just maybe, you thought the author was awesome and decided this book would be a New York Times Bestseller? Probably not the last scenario. If I had to guess, I’d say it has something to do with that overwhelming stress weighing down on you. Reality is, there are many people in this world facing hard times: Anxiety, incarceration, loss, addiction, divorce, sickness, and I could go on, but I need this description to fit on the back of the book...
How do we overcome these overwhelming times? Great question. I don’t have all the right words, which probably isn’t what you want to hear from an author. But I know Who does. His Name is Jesus. And He is the only One Who can bring unexplainable peace in the midst of your Chaos. Whether you are reading this behind prison bars, in the hospital room, at the funeral home, or on the awesome World Wide Web, I hope you choose to read this book. Chaos is inevitable. It comes like a thief in the night— stealing, killing, and destroying all we hold dear. But there is hope. Where the enemy comes to destroy, God comes to rebuild. He comes to restore. He comes to bring life and joy. This book isn’t some self-help book. Nor is it an autobiography. It’s a collaboration of real people experiencing real pain, learning how to overcome the overwhelming. Jesus isn’t just the center of this book. He’s the beginning, middle, and end. And spoiler alert: He always wins.

Who knew a book about pain and suffering could actually be funny too? Really liked how Noah was able to relate personal stories with Bible lessons. I wish he had more books

I read a bunch of kinds of books. I didnt know what to think about a christian selfhelp book, but this was great. Noah pointed out some things in the Bible that I never thought of before. He has a great way with words. I definitely recommend

This was just a great read. I loved the humor and the encouragement. Asher's quick wit was not what I was expecting but I actually enjoyed it. He went from talking about Marvel to Finding Nemo to Jesus. Simply put: amazing.

I just finished the last page of Chaos. Wow. This is all I can really say. I recently saw an interview with the author. His personality is so refreshing...you can tell he is passionate about Jesus and about helping others. I like how he points everything back to God. Not many people my age have the wisdom that Noah Asher brings. His vulnerability is shown by the mention of his dark past. It's nice to see him open up and confront the situation versus hiding. This has given me perspective that Jesus CAN heal and change lives. The author discuss chaos coming in many different ways. For me, it was feeling lonely when I moved off to college. I felt so lost and even rejected. This book helped me navigate my way out of my "pit". I RECOMMEND for anyone feeling like life is chaotic!

Once in a while you come across a book that feels like it was written just for you— CHAOS: Overcoming the Overwhelming is just that book. Reading it was a gift…. As though the author knew just what I needed to hear…ust what I was feeling.

Whatever your unique chaos in life, whatever is overwhelming you– the Biblical foundation in this book will help you with insight and encouragement…and humor. It was a blessing. So much so that after reading the e-Book, I actually bought a hardback copy. A keeper!

My son is currently in prison. This has been a hard season for our whole family. This book was inspiring to see someone once in prison to be writing and helping like he is. We all make mistakes. And I don't know all of Noah's story but it doesnt really matter to me. My son has taught me to just love. In this book noah actually talks about looking past who saul was and look at Paul...the new creation. For anyone struggling please read this book

Not gonna lie. I saw the cover on an ad and thought it looked interesting so I gave it a chance. It was beautifully written. I read this in three days of commuting on my train ride to and from work. The author was great at communicating humor but reachiing good points. I laughed out loud on the train when he talked about the kayak story. And I shed a tear when he opened up about losing his dad. Check it out

This book was a hidden gem! I had never heard of Noah Asher, but someone recommended it to me. And I LOVED his funny stories and the way he was able to connect scriptures to real life. My junior year in college has been the hardest and CHAOTIC...I am glad I found this book. After reading this, I read Overcomes by Pastor Matt here in Texas. Also a powerful read. If you are going through it then this is the book for ya!

My wife and I met Noah Asher at an author event recently. It's evident how passionate he is for people and Jesus. Very touched by his story and his way with words. Very witty sort of humor throughout the book. You will laugh and cry in the same paragraph. This book is necessary when it comes to understanding that your past does not keep you from your purpose! I know this is only the BEGINNING for this author!

I am formerly incarcerated. I found Jesus while inside prison. I have been watching Noah Asher's podcast. I also read this book Chaos. I felt so many diferent feelings while reading this. There was one chapter about Identity and the Lion King that had me in tears but good tears. I am more than my worst mistake. Thank You Jesus for using Noah Asher to write such an important book. I don't know about others but this book helped me so much.

I hoep the author sees this. I am typing this after ugly crying from the chapter called Grace Filter. I have allowed negative words and negative thoughts to consume me. This book has helped me find my foot placement again. I cannot worry about my past. I must focus on my purpose given by Jesus. Thankful for books like this.

This past year was a year of loss for us. Chaos described our life perfectly. This was on point to helping our family get back on track. If you have time I would recommend you check this one out. I dont like doing surveys and such but I believe in this authors message. You wont be sorry you purchased this one. He reminds me of a Max Lucado or Stephen Furtick type of author.

Bold move to discuss past but I like when author said: "Hiding looks like guilt and guilt looks like shame." SO true. I really don't care about what has happened. I know I sense the Holy Spirit on this young man's life. Best advice from a sinner like me...keep your head up and continue pursuing Jesus.

To hear the author's journey with incarceration and loss was so genuine and vulnerable. I have a past too. It broke my heart to read he was spit on once. I don't want my review to be all about his story. Asher's ability to spotlight certain scriptures the way he did was amazing. This book is evidence of Jesus still using imperfect people to share HIS perfect message.

One of the podcasts I listen to had this author on. He was very personable and funny. I also really liked the way he explained things in the Bible. You can hear his passion and love for God. I could also relate to his story. His story gives me hope that I can still do good things. Keep it up, Noah.

My wife and I read this book together. We really enjoyed the comic relief through the deep commentary of chaos. Our favorite chapter was "What's Your Target". We have been struggling with a situation and have been praying that our hearts will lean toward forgiveness. This chapter taught in detail about the importance of reconciliation versus retaliation. You won't be disappointed with this book.

I've had some beach days and have been doing a lot of reading. I didn't know I'd be getting crying on the beach!!!!!!! For someone who just moved far away from family I completely understand the word chaos. My life is engulfed with chaos right now but God has put books like this and some good christian music to keep my heart and mind focused. This book is good for anyone experience "chaos".

One of my girls told us about this book in Bible study so we went through it. We all really enjoyed Noah's ability to talk about people in Bible like Joseph, Habbakuk, Peter, and more. Our group really liked him making jokes about Taylor Swift and Bieber and other stories.

We are so thankful for this book. I love when Noah said, "The Bible is the only book I've ever read where the HERO dies for the villain." Jesus is the Hero and we are the ones who were in need of saving. This book is good when describing Gods love for us

Message for anyone who is struggling: READ THIS. Noah Asher is brilliant in his approach to having scripture come to life in real world situations. He is allowing his past pain to bring future healing to people all over.
