Unexpectedly in Love #3

Accidentally Ours

Sophie

With college graduation behind me and a highly coveted internship with the most prestigious event planner in the country awaiting me in New York City, I’m ready to say farewell to Vegas and reward all my years of disciplined hard work with one passionate night in a sexy stranger’s bed.

The hookup was anonymous, only first names exchanged, so imagine my surprise when I find out he’s not only a new client’s brother, but my brother’s new boss.

And the chemistry is still crackling between us.

But my priorities are focusing on my career and exploring my new city, not dating.

Besides, Hunter Cartwright isn’t the guy for me. He’s thirteen years older, my brother’s boss, and a notorious bachelor.

But I can’t deny my attraction to him and all too quickly I’m giving in to his proposal. An agreement for a no-strings attached relationship where Hunter shows me the city’s sights, including a full tour of his bedroom. It’s a simple arrangement…until my pregnancy test comes back positive.

Hunter

I’m married to my career as CEO of Premier Real Estate. Never able to give a woman the time or attention she wants, I’ve kept my romantic life casual.

From the moment I saw Sophie on the dance floor in Las Vegas, I knew I had to have her. I thought it would only be one night, but now that she’s living in the same city, I can’t stop thinking about her.

She’s young, and focused on starting her career, but that’s perfect because I don’t have the time or inclination for a relationship. When she takes me up on my offer to show her the city while we explore the chemistry between us, I’m relieved. We’ll enjoy each other until the flame between us dies out. Then, I’ll do what I always do…walk away.

But the more time we spend together, it’s becoming impossible to imagine that moment.

And when we discover our no strings arrangement will have us entangled for the rest of our lives, I’m determined to prove to Sophie that I can be a forever kind of guy.

I already hate the fact that the MMC is a manwhore. But for some reason, I'm in the mood to read a surprise pregnancy, and I enjoyed the book prior to this one. So why not give this a shot, right? Wrong! Man, was I freaking wrong. I'm regretting that decision, but I should give myself a pat for even reaching this point.

For someone who graduated at the top of her class, Sophie (22) isn't really showing any signs of intelligence. The way she acts, speaks, and behaves makes it sound more like she's a freaking teenager than a 22-year-old woman. Don't get me started with the body-betraying crap. I mean, my gaaaawd, where was her self respect? And why does she let Hunter(35) get away with the things he did so easily?

She has met at least 4 OW at this point, granted, she didn't know two of them were his aunt and sister, but that's beside the freaking point. And I don't want to know if there are more later on.

This disgusting manhwore has no respect for Sophie. He brought a date to one of his dinner parties, though, tbf, he didn't know she would be there. And his reason was that the OW asked for a ride, and she's his friend and someone he didn't sleep with.

He said that he couldn't stop thinking about her, and you know what they did at this party? They had oral sex, and even though Sophie knew he just came with someone else, she's still willing to fool around with him. Then, when they went back to the table, she realized how messed up what they did after seeing how the OW was all over him after their rendezvous. Gross! 🤢

Then the second OW was a favor to his sister, turns out the OW2 was heartbroken, and his sister wanted her friend to go out and not dwell on sadness. So she asked Hunter to bring the OW2 as his date. By this time, Hunter and Sophie were official FB and were exclusive. Yet he didn't mention this to Sophie at all, and the kicker was that the event they attended was organized by the company Sophie's working at. So imagine her surprise to see him there with another woman, AGAIN! And the jerk gave a lame apology and said that it was a favor.

I don't know what happened after this because I'm so freaking triggered, but I knew she's going to forgive and forget that because she has no common sense or self-respect.

Ooooh, and I skimmed at the 80% when Sophie's brother found out about them. This is how the convo goes:

"So, what was your plan with Sophie? Was she just another woman you were going to discard when you got bored?”
“There was no plan,” I answer honestly.

Even at this point, he still doesn't know what he would do with her??? I mean, wtf???

So yeah, I'm pissed that I wasted my time on this. I knew before I hit the 20% mark that I wasn't going to like this, but my stubborn ass didn't listen to my gut. Now, I'm left with nothing but irritation. 😤

What even was this?

First of all, you expect me to believe New York is that small? In just two weeks, these two managed to “coincidentally” bump into each other at least five times, if not more. Even in fiction, that’s pushing it. 😒

The FMC has to have a humiliation kink there’s no other explanation. The MMC is 35 years old acting like a frat boy f-boy. Sir, please, you’re closer to retirement than freshman orientation. The amount of secondhand embarrassment I endured made me want to curl up and disappear.

She let him dog her so many times. She let this man play her like a violin again and again, why? Because he’s rich? That’s not enough to excuse this nonsense.

And the prologue? Completely misleading.

Not even Teddy Hamilton could save this disaster, and that says everything.

I am so so so so so sorry Miss Hawkins, I absolutely loved the first two books in this series but it’s like this book was written by somebody completely different in an alternate universe. I think it was a culmination of many things so here is a list of things that I did not love:
- This was an accidental pregnancy trope but the pregnancy doesn’t happen until like 3/4 of the way through but the romance and spice was so prevalent throughout the entirety of the book giving it an insta lust/love vibe and I really don’t enjoy that, I feel like the timeline should have been reversed? like pregnant first after the one night stand and then slow burn? idk
- The writing was incredibly repetitive like if I took a shot every time Sophie or Hunter said they had the other on their mind/couldn’t stop thinking about the other and some spicy thing they did in Vegas, or how Sophie wants to focus on her career, I literally would not survive
- The romance and relationship just wasn’t developed enough for me I didn’t feel it the way I did between the main characters of the first two books there was no connection, no development
- I think Sophie being 22 didn’t help because the “voice” for her character felt like it was trying too hard to be young or whatever
- I love smut dude like nobody can say that I don’t but this was waaaaayyy too much and not in a good way

I’m heartbroken because I was so excited for this and I really truly loved the first too like I forced my friends to read them and discuss them with me but this just was not it I’m so sorry Miss Hawkins😭

Two stars because I was able to make it to about 80%. I wanted to get to the pregnancy part to see how that played out. But then I just couldn’t.

Wth did I just read?! The plot as advertised should have been cute!! The side characters, friendships, etc were all written well enough. But…

What messed this story up for me was the dirty talk. It wasn’t cute, it wasn’t sexy, it sounded like what I imagine a bad porn clip might sound like.

Every single sex scene, and there are a plethora, are similar to the one before it. Exact same foreplay, exact same dumbass comments on how sopping wet her panties are, exact same dirty talk phrases…. This hero winks at her from across the room, and she’s instantaneously wet and wonders if she needs to go change panties 🥴 Oh, and once pregnancy hormones really kick in, she basically starts having random panic attacks if the hero does not “have sex with her Right. Now.” (My quotation is a cleaned-up PG-13 version of what she really says) Everything sexual said and done was cringeworthy and really ruined any love story that was trying to peek out thru this mess.

The story actually started cute. With the heroine saying a drunken dirty saucy comment as a dare to the hero. I was thinking it would be cute to see how a stoic arrogant hero would respond… I also assumed this story would be starting off with her finding out she’s pregnant in the beginning, and they need to figure out how to handle the news and fall in love. Wrong… and the hero I assumed would be a rich, serious, arrogant hero that would have far to fall. Nope he had insta-lust/love and was a nice guy with no conflict to overcome, other than his potty mouth. The heroine was young and it showed. She was immaturely spontaneous (the scene in the restaurant where she tells all how she knows the hero and the sordid details comes to mind)

Not a romantic story at all. Gross. (And for the record, I do not like clean romance stories. I love steamy romance stories. This was just trying too hard and came across as pathetic porn)

Tropes:
-Age Gap (13 years)
-One Night Stand
-Brothers Boss
-Secret Relationship
-Accidental Pregnancy

This was the last book in this series and I was disappointed. Comparing it to the previous two books, this book's plot needed to be further developed. The book was very predictable and could've been done better.

Our FMC, Sophie has just moved to NYC at 22 after graduating from college. She is starting an internship at a wedding planning company. Our MMC, Hunter, is a 35-year-old billionaire running a real estate and development company. They had previously met on a night out in Vegas and had a one-night stand. What they didn't expect was that they would run into each other again, this time in NYC at the wedding planning appointment for Hunter's sister, Hannah. From there, they run into each other at Hunter's office building and it is where Sophie finds out that he is her brother, Griffin's boss. Over the course of days, they can't stop thinking about each other and in one of their encounters while running around Central Park, they decide to enter into a no-strings-attached relationship. This relationship also includes sightseeing since Sophie wants to explore the new city she lives in.

Over the majority of this book, their relationship is a secret and it's just sexual. Eventually, they both realize they're catching feelings. I think Hunter falls first and harder and starts doing intentionally sweet things to make Sophie happy. He really tries to help her out in any capacity he can without dominating her. One thing about Sophie is that she is trying to be more independent. She doesn't want to be a burden on anyone because that is how she has felt the majority of her life. Also, she is young and is trying to figure her life out. Eventually, they take a break from each other for about one week, and in that week they both figure out that they want to be together. But there are two big roadblocks; 1. Hunter is Griffin's boss and 2. their age gap. The same day when Hunter decides he needs to go get his girl, he ends up finding out that Sophie is pregnant. Which god knows how this girl got pregnant because they always used contraception and she was on birth control.

Anyways, the accidental pregnancy doesn't show up until maybe 100 pages before the end of the book. This kind of messes with the plot because it would've been better if it showed up in the beginning so we would've seen more substance in their relationship. We could have seen how they communicate, make decisions, and build their relationship during the pregnancy. This was mildly done at the end but it was rushed and not detailed. Their relationship didn't seem to have a good foundation since it started as just sexual. I felt like it was surface level and they truly didn't know each other.

Also, I had trouble with the 13-year age gap. Sophie was 22, young, and had so many goals and aspirations. She wanted to be an environmentally friendly wedding planner and even had her own blog & youtube channel that was gaining a lot of traction. She wanted to live on her own and be independent. I feel like she gave up a lot of her dreams because of Hunter. Hunter, a 35-year-old workaholic bachelor, wasn't looking for anything serious. He basically had his whole life figured out, he had a penthouse, and he was a CEO. But I feel like he robbed that experience for Sophie when she got pregnant. Obviously, it takes two to tango but once he found out her age, he should've let her go (before they started a relationship). I am obviously getting very technical with it and this was a legal relationship and I'm trying not to be judgemental but I think at the end it wouldn't have worked and she might hold resentment towards him even if he was accommodating.
(THIS IS ALL MY OPINION AND HOW I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AFTER FINISHING READING THIS, I KNOW THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION AND IN THE END, THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER)

5 stars!

An age-gap, secret relationship, accidental pregnancy romance, this book was so much more than I was expecting. It’s sweet and funny, dirty, sexy, playful and swoonily romantic. It’s a fantastically entertaining read with characters that I adored, and I loved this story so much!

This is the third book in the Unexpectedly in Love series. Sophie is the younger siter of Griffin (hero of book #2), and we see the couples from the first two books, but this book can absolutely standalone.

Sophie is living her dream – she’s graduated college and has moved to New York City to start an internship at a prestigious wedding planning firm. It’s all she’s wanted, and sets her firmly into her five year plan. Until a small hiccup when she runs into the sexy stranger that she had an unforgettable one-night stand with before she left Vegas. She never thought she would see Hunter again, yet suddenly here he is, popping up everywhere. And worse – he’s her brother’s new boss.

Hunter is the billionaire CEO of his family’s real estate development empire. He’s married to his job, and though he’s a big-hearted family man, his career is his priority, and he doesn’t have time for women beyond easy hook ups. But when Sophie re-enters his life, he is shaken. He hasn’t forgotten their night together, and when they keep running into each other, he becomes more and more desperate to have her.

It's a fun set up and full anticipation as the attraction that sparked between them when they met continues to sizzle. The chemistry is electric, and I was feeling the lusty vibes with every interaction.

If this were a porno, Hunter would swipe everything off his desk in one quick move, then lift me onto it and put his face between my thighs.
I hate that this is not a porno.

When the sexual tension becomes too much, they crack, unable to keep their hands off each other, and holy freaking hotness! Hunter is a dirty talker, and Sophie is there for it, and these two are so damn hot together! But neither of them want a relationship, and they’re in a bit of an awkward situation with Hunter being Griffin’s boss, and the thirteen-year age gap (she is 22, he is 35). They agree to a secret, no-strings sexual relationship until they’re ready to walk away. It’s so, so steamy, and the banter and flirting is fun and playful, and I freaking love these two together!!!

“Sophie, I want to press your face into a pillow and fuck you from behind, come on your tits, and leave my handprint on your ass.” I clear my throat. “Among other things.”
I’m not sure how she’s going to react to my honesty. She might slap me, but I can’t hold back from telling her what I want. I’m far past interested with Sophie. Now, I’m plain desperate to have her.
She angles her head so she can look me in the eyes. A small smile pulls at her lips.
“Hopeless romantic, huh?”

There’s a wonderful sense of openness between them. They don’t hold back with anything, they say what they’re feeling, what they want, and it’s refreshingly satisfying (and completely filthy). Though they agree to keep things feelings-free, it’s not long before things start to change; it’s natural, and easy, and they just go with it, just letting it happen and doing nothing to stop it, and I LOVE THAT! There’s no game playing, no angst, no unnecessary drama, they just go with the flow and figure it out as they go along. And it was so amazing to watch these two fall so hard.

“I love you … I want a life with you. I want you in every way.”

Gah, I love these guys so much! Sophie is smart and driven, she’s fun and relatable, and I love the journey she goes on in the story as she figures out her life, Hunter’s place in it, and what she wants for her future. And Hunter is a freaking dream – sweet, thoughtful, caring and generous, he’s protective, possessive, and follows his heart, and he is the most incredible partner. And did I mention hot? Because OMG, the man is some sort of sex god. I loved how into each other they were, just as much as I loved watching their feelings for each other change so naturally. They are so amazing together.

They have some things to overcome – revealing their secret romance, Sophie’s changing relationship with her brother, her career plans, and of course there’s that surprise pregnancy. It all comes together to create a fun, sexy read with just the right amount of feels, and I loved every moment.

5 stars!

It was okay, the plot had potential but there was a lot I didn’t like.

I didn’t like the male mc at all. Honestly, he seemed like he was written by a man, but apparently this author was a woman which is surprising. All of the “dirty talk” etc he would just say unsolicited was that type of stuff men think we want to hear that is actually gross and cringe. All the smut scenes were cringe as well, to the point I couldn’t even read them had to skip over them.

I didn’t like any of the relationships or side characters in the books either. They made it out like people were such great friends but their vibes were like awkward acquaintances. The brother and the baby daddy is a great example, this was her brother’s boss. They were not friends but to create drama the author randomly decided to try and spin it like they were as if we hadn’t seen all their interactions.

I have been EATING these books UP! Recent college grad moves to NYC only to find out that her brother works for this hot billionaire that she hooked up with in Vegas. The fact that the FMC and I are the same age and this is what her life is like makes me slightly depressed but I also couldn’t stop reading! Only one more left in the series and I’m honestly sad about it…

This was SO sweet. I’ll be honest in saying that I didn’t expect too much in the beginning. I figured it would be an easy read, much like the last few books in this series. However, as I continued reading, it was so much more enjoyable than I expected. I was emotional at certain points because Hunter was so unexpected. I never knew his next move. I was truly in awe at every single step he made. It was clear he was a playboy and not a commitment-type guy before Sophie, but he changed that all with her. He didn’t do this in a cringe way though, like you’d expect. The biggest thing that got me about his transformation was that it was all very organic, and flowed well. Usually, when authors write similarly, they have some grand change with the MMC that just doesn’t make any sense, or is too unbelievable. It wasn’t like that with Hunter, at all. Then, adding on Sophie’s dynamic to the story, was even better. Her relationship with her brother, and her personal mental challenges, were very developmental too. She overcame a lot of mental blocks, and learned to thrive, despite them all. I think we can all relate to that. Sometimes, I found her super annoying, but she was mostly endearing! Idk. Hunter was just very considerate and gave me lots of joy. And, Sophie getting everything she dreamed of at the end, really made me happy too.

Despite this being an ‘accidental pregnancy’ novel (which I normally can’t stand), I decided to give this one a go… here to say I regretted it.

But my main issue with this book is that I feel like it was advertised as: These two characters hooked up in Vegas, she got pregnant, and now he has to prove that he’s not just a playboy and can be the man she needs.

And then she didn’t get pregnant until 80% of the way through the book??? Make it make sense.

accidentally reading a book where the fmc gets knocked up with twins despite being on birth control and never going bare is why i have trust issues.

I’m not gonna give this a 1 star despite the fact I hated it by the end because that’s apparently on me for not reading the description enough to realise where this was heading, but it’s getting 2 because they both had a personality transplant the second the test came back positive which is a sin

I ADORE the other two books that came before this, so W H Y

“This happy ending was accidentally ours, but I have every intention of making it last forever.”

3.5

well, I have a lot to say about this book, but in general terms, I liked it.

both sophie and hunter were good characters. I could feel their own passion for their goals, and specially sophie–she felt incredible real. she was funny and goal oriented, and never let herself be intimidated. she knew what she wanted and even tho hunter never pressured ger into nothing she also knew how to stand her grown and take the wheel when she needed. honestly she was such a girl boss.
hunter was.. different from what I expected. I totally thought he was going to be a jerk and immature BUT he was the opposite. he knew what he wanted and was glad Sophie was on the same page as his, but also always respected her limits and her career he even admired her because she worked really hard for everything she ever got.

I liked their dynamic. they complemented each other very well, they were for sure a power couple.

now.. I wouldn't say I'm disappointed but more like surprised. and I'm gonna need to talk about the plot that's advertised(?).

this book is being sold as a pregnancy troupe. but you would never guess there's not one mention not suspect of pregnancy until 75% of the book. so if you're not into that troupe I can't guarantee you can read it and for the most part forget that's something that's supposed to happen.
I'm very neutral when it comes to this troupe, I haven't read much books with it but I've enjoyed those few, and the thing is I hoped the book would've taken more space about sophie being pregnant. yes, the book takes its time to develop a proper connection and relationship between them but still.. the pregnancy plot it's featured very quickly with nothing of it's usual conflicts and themes. idk I felt a little bit scammed ?? maybe I would've rated this higher lol

anyway, it's still a good book, and overall, surprisingly, both hunter and sophie have very good communication, they're always talking things out and listening to each other, it was nice to see a plot were miscommunication never takes part.

This story was so cute and my favorite of the 3! I especially loved that Sophie had an interest in sustainable wedding planning because that’s something that’s so important to me as a wedding planner and I very rarely hear people in the industry talk about that. I really enjoyed all of the characters too!

Such a sweet relationship! I didn’t know how I would feel about the accidental pregnancy in this book but overall I think it was handled pretty good. I strongly dislike how they explained how she got pregnant by accident but I enjoyed everything after that.

Hunter and Sophie are super cute together though I do agree a 13 age gap is a bit much.

This was a really fast read that had a decent amount of spice throughout!

So this was interesting…honestly most of the book was s*x and that is it. I’d say like 70% of this book was s*x cause the MCs were friends w benefits 😀 so that was the whole plot.

And as if the book wasn’t bad enough, they had to throw in that accidental-pregnancy, baby-out-of-a-wedlock trope 😍 so that made it even worse. I hate the pregnancy trope with all my heart ✌🏼 so that made my rating go even lower.

Wasn’t a quick read I’d say. It was so long and dragged 😍. That’s all I’m gonna say

Onto the next one 👶🏻💔

In ‘Accidentally Ours’ we read the story of Sophie and Hunter. Sophie has just graduated college and moved from Vegas to New York to be close to her brother, and to take on a very exciting internship. Sophie has the next 5 years completely planned out for herself. Do the internship, get the permanent position, get experience, start her own business. The last thing she needs is a relationship. So when Sophie accidentally bumps into her one night stand, the guy she hasn’t stopped thinking about and who she met in Vegas, she is determined to stay away from him. But when he offers her something that seems perfect for them both, she can’t resist.

Sophie and Hunter agree on a no-strings-attached relationship and it seems perfect for them both. Sophie is still very young, and has all these big plans. And Hunter is a workaholic who never wanted more than one night with a woman. But the more time they spend together, the more they both realize the amazing chemistry between them can be the start of so much more. Unfortunately the timing is so wrong!

‘Accidentally Ours’ was a great read I definitely couldn’t stop reading. From the moment I started reading I wanted to keep on going until I knew their whole story. The chemistry between Sophie and Hunter was amazing. It was so good, I felt the butterflies myself! And not only was the romance amazing, there where also a lot of moments where I laughed out loud.

The two main characters where perfect together, but I also just loved them as individuals. Sure Sophie was young, but she was so focused and hardworking. And then there was Hunter. Yes, he seemed to have a lot of woman in his past, but he was also always a very good guy. I loved reading the book through Sophie’s, but especially Hunter’s point of view. He was a perfect book boyfriend honestly!

‘Accidentally Ours’ was a great read I enjoyed from start to finish. Sure, I figured out which way the story would go.. but it didn’t bother me at all. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but we do read about the characters in the previous books as well. It was fun for me, because I already knew their story as well. But you won’t notice to much if you haven’t read Erin’s other books.
