Perhaps there was something in the air of this world making the humans so restless, forcing them to keep reinventing themselves.

Another 700+ pages novel done!
I was raring to start next part right after this, if i wasn't already tied with a promise to read another work.
It was because of the new Draugr situation, but after Zac switched back i wasn't that interested.
But then the Writer had to tease us with the treasure hunt rules, I am not sure this will exactly be a massacre though, the realm feels vast, and probably hunters and gatherers will meet not too often, with the arena stipulation in place though, we might still end up with 50% causalities, if i was one of the weak people, i would get the fuck out of there.
This Novel was a predictions feast for me, predicting things before they happen with 50 pages at time, predicting things instantly before Zac ponders on them, even though the writer still managed to make some surprising decisions for me, specially taking a tank class, it will still turn out to be OP combination.

I feel for the writer though, he managed to make the most OP character in LITRPG period, Immortal, Two classes meaning 2 separate level systems, a progenitor of his planet meaning untold number of titles, But we have to keep in consideration, that while Zac is the top of the heap when it comes to earth, with the exception of the Zhix dominators, He is really beneath mediocre when it comes to Multiverse standards, and the Writer is cultivating him to be able to beat the towers of eternity, And we can only be glad at this point, that he still manages to put him through controversy, and near death experiences, even getting the OP duplicity core that made him immortal, was a near death experience.
Brazla Rules fuck you Zac, i love Brazla, He is really fun, and really useful, and anyone with half a brain get a building filled to the brim with treasure like that, and Brazla is accompanying it, will not be turning it down.

This is zac, my brother, he is super brother man.

Kenzie is way smarter than Zac and she is a sweet heart too, i love that we have her along for this journey now, she has her separate luck, and separate methods, i just hope the writer doesn't bet them against each other, brother and sister, because of all the system and technocrats situation, since Kenzie will definitely be leaning towards the technocrats and her mom!

Ogras only looked at him for a few seconds afterward until he shook his
head with disgust and took a large swig of his wine. “I should just strap
myself to your back, and sooner or later, a Divine Treasure will randomly
land on my head. Your luck is just disgusting, makes me want to ram my
head into a wall,” Ogras spat out.

Zac might only have 100 luck points, But since luck is a stat you can't increase manually, and can only increase with titles, 100 points are huge, and Zac always finishes his quests with great performance grades as well, I don't mind it, because i love the luck aspect of video games, now if there was only more games that depended on luck, i would be a happy man.

The ads this part, were the same as last 5, this probably was caused by the possibility that the publisher released all 3 parts of this novel together, since they were already on the internet.
The character pool of the novel, is getting dangerously huge, Be careful, with no index like novels like The wandering Inn, this might become way too confusing, since there is no way in hell someone can dedicate all his time to reading this back to back.

i know it messes with your head to be betrayed by those close to you.

I think the system is also playing a huge part in Zac's life, not only his luck, while his luck effects quest rewards and loot and stuff like that, it doesn't effect the challenges that keep getting thrown at him, these quests and challenges are designed by the system, to test Zac, you either win and become even more powerful, or you perish and then you are a failed interesting experiment!

I will never understand monks fascination with how many steps their monstary have 😂
-We have 2700 stairs
- and i have arthritis couldn't you be happy with 1000 only 🤣
But i am so glad the Asians have many surviving members, from every country, and they are the ones fighting in the frontier towns against the undead incursion, since they were nearly wiped out by it.

On the Alea front, if i was Zac i wouldn't enter a romantic relationship with her, what she did was uncalled for, to try and spite his former girlfriend, when he had already broke up with her, Bad news, Red Flag, GTFO dude.

it was the unrelenting characteristic of life in the face of death, the struggling light that refused to wink out of existence.

I need to read a novel before coming back fast to this, putting my one thousand nights and a night plans on hold, i ll be surprised if the writer gets me excited the same way for part 4!
But Coming Back Soon to our warrior of Life And Bulwark of Death!

This is second in a very intense LitRPG power fantasy. You really don't want to read out of order.

Zac's outpost on his island still has no real inhabitants and still needs to survive the last challenges for an upgrade. He has some allies, at any rate, but also some opportunities to get to know others. He really, really wants to find his family so he builds a teleporter array and thus the expansion of his horizon starts. Also the system, bastard that it is, has created a leaderboard and Zac's is the top name. And can I just say that I loved the corny alias he uses (Super Brother-Man is perfect as a signal to his sister that he's out there and looking for her as this is a throwback to their imaginative play when she was young). I also loved that everybody is all worried about that monster, Super Brother-Man and how he has managed to pull so far ahead of everyone.

I'm less sanguine about the rest of the world. The system's goal is to produce really tough citizens and it is perfectly happy boiling 7 billion down to 1 and some to get a few stand-outs. It's a brutal dictator that doesn't tolerate coasting very well and that means that might makes right has become an overt reality of the world. Which means certain warlord standards are present that include some unsavory practices that Zac gets to eradicate. It is an interesting contrast because Zac has had to get mean in many ways, and suspicious, so it's good to remember that there's a reason he has to take the precautions he does and his no-strikes policy.

That said, the world also has the occasional bright light, Zac included, obviously. I particularly liked meeting the top rank on the Dao ladder and his simple honesty and kindness. Zac is definitely one of the good guys even if he has to make some hard calls along the way.

This book didn't have any of the weaknesses as the first, though the beads-on-a-string plot keep it to four stars rather than five. Zac progresses on his quest to push out the incursions, but none of his gains are easy or without cost.

A note about Chaste: Even though there are other humans and some hint of a romantic potential, none of that actually comes together so this book is still very chaste.

I wish there was more on Kenzie and Emily. Kenzie's love interest is the superstar Emma, and Emily just ends up dominating everyone and kicking ass! That would be the perfect book. LOL

Back to the regular review and not my wishful thinking...

This was a trip! After being betrayed by his ex-girlfriend, only to find out she was hypnotised and then blaming it on his current love interest. Zac's just gonna be all powerful and ALONE. Boys are dumb.

A great continuation of the series. Zac has to deal with a lot more things now. He has to try and find his sister and to do that he needs to be stronger. He is one of the strongest people in the world but that doesn't make things easier, sometimes it seems to make things harder. He has to deal with the demons that are with him that he can't really trust but has no other options. He has to deal with other people in the world who are all vying for power, especially the government. He also needs to deal with the alien incursions, most of which are much too big for him to handle. On top of that the system keeps messing with him. Everytime he tries to take the sensible choice, the system puts him in a situation where he has to do something crazy. Surviving gives him a lot of benefits and power but that doesn't mean he likes it. Overall very good.

This books has many pros, but far more cons.

First the pros. Overall the story is interesting enough to keep reading until the end. The main character is constantly fighting to improve himself as the world around him struggles to survive. I found myself eager to see what skills or abilities he would learn next, but the good ends there.

The writing is sloppy. It’s like having a movie with killer action but bad acting. His word selection is limited as he reuses the same words on ever page. It didn’t matter at first, but after a few hundred pages you start noticing it. This also includes his incessant use of the passive voice. I found myself skimming a lot because of it. Another major flaw is the story lacks any real depth; it’s a mile wide and an inch deep. It suffers from severe surface writing. There’s simply too much he tries to squeeze in to make any headway into character development. There’s only one MC, but a host of throwaway characters he keeps around who amount to nothing more than hollow shells disguised as influential people. The little diving he does is equally shallow, sparing little attention to that would give the reader any real character development aside from the MC’s leveling up. This is much less a story and more a data dump of information. Enjoyable to a point, but not a good book.

Extremely disappointed.

This book seems to go out of it's way to highlight the inadequacies of the main character, and oh boy are there a lot. His gullibility, lack of planning, reactionary attitude, and complete lack of leadership potential are just a few. The city building aspects are skipped or just rushed over. The combat is boring. The cultivation is continually made overly complex, with more constantly added. What was a series bursting with potential was turned into a hodge podge of mediocrity based on a main character that was lacking in every respect. The entire book is a boring read that I found myself struggling to even finish.

So far this was just a rinse and repeat of the last book. Zack is still just another murder hobo and the author giving him the last boring class just starts reinforcing it.

1 ) The world and universe is still has not been flushed out.
2 ) The CW Drama between the "girls" in Zacks orbit needs to stop, I call them girls because they don't act like women. It's just distracting and doesn't do a damn thing for the story.
3 ) His sister is now additional plot armor for Zack and a second brain to Zack's lack of one.

Book 2 picks up right at the end of book 1, as Zac works on increasing his levels and skills while Port Atwood prepares for the third wave.

This book has a lot more variety in it, but suffers a bit on pacing. We have a few dry spells where Zac is focused on a particular skill or growing his Dao, and there is also a bit of head hopping as we see different perspectives from friends, enemies, and others.

There are a lot of enemies here. There always were, but now it's amped up ever higher. I'm going to mention a few things that happened without giving spoilers:

We have the auction at New Washington, which brings together a number of top ranked. He also visits his old home town in search of his parents, finding some disturbing news.

We have Zac's Nexus quest, which turns out different than he expected.

The team as a whole starts on closing out the other incursions, including the rat men and the zombie invasion. The zombies were also part of third wave which showed up about a third of the way into the book, along with two other races.

We also get to meet the man who is number one on the Dao list, which is enlightening on its own.

Of course, we have even more town building going on back at Port Atwood, and after the third wave, the city grows even more. It turns out there are a lot more islands out beyond Zac's that they haven't explored yet, including other races besides the demons we know so well already.

I'll also mention that there are a large number of assassination attempts, not all from the same faction or for the same reasons. A lot of people don't like seeing Zac on top, and they're going to do what they can to remove him.

Except that he manages to do that all on his own.

Overall, it's a very satisfying read. There is nothing on being a system defier (which was mentioned briefly in book 1), so hopefully we'll learn more in book 3.

Highly recommended. 5/5*

Review of books 1-3:

Fabulous. One of the best (if not THE BEST) in this "real world" apocalypses genre.

+ The worldbuilding is just brilliant and unique making it interesting from get go.
+ The magic system is refreshing and well structured.
+ very interesting plot that keep me guessing all through the 3 books I've read.
+ Writing/prose is very engaging and never slows down. Exciting ride all through.
+ Characters are good (but could do with more development).

After reading brilliant series like System Apocalypse, Shadow Sun and Phase Shift... I really thought I had hit the cream of the genre, but this one just resonated with me just that lil bit more.

Eagerly waiting for the next book.

This is an audiobook review. I am already up-to-date with the web novel but I decided to tryout the audible version. I wasn’t disappointed. What a narrative performance by Pavi Proczko! Especially Ogras, he added more of a slimy quick witted opportunistic feel to the character. The world building was expanded and Zac has even more pressure on his shoulders. Overall a great book, and I can’t wait for the audiobook of the 3rd instalment.

Trash

I hoped this would get better, but I'm not even eight chapters in and he literally has over 100 women enslaved into his harem. All while talking about how its totally okay and he would definitely never abuse being a slave owner. I dont know where all the good reviews are coming from but this is actually disgusting

Marking this as DNF at 17%.

After book 1, I was afraid that this book would focus a lot on the main character rescuing women from the grim realities of the apocalypse. This book indulges in that plenty and spends a lot of time describing women's bodies in general and hints about the implications of being so much higher level than them, and that they've entered into system contracts that let him compel them... but don't worry, the contracts don't say that. At some point I googled to confirm that this is not setting the stage for Zac's 100-woman harem, and apparently it's not, but overall felt pretty gross and I had to put this down.

The book wasn't doing it for me anyway, ignoring those issues. The main character is already the most powerful person on earth and moodily stomps on all his opponents and problems. The parts that were cool about the first book (e.g. daos) are still cool.

The story really kicks into high gear with this book and it establishes the format for pretty much how the rest of the series is going to go from here on out. I don't mean that it gets boring or monotonous, but rather that if you like this book and you're looking for a safe read that will rarely disappoint you then this series is for you (I read 745 chapters of this in about a week, so I promise this series is definitely doing something right).

The truth of the matter is that if you liked the first book then you will probably like this one, and if you like this one as well, then this is probably a series you'll want to stick with. I'd say it settles into a comfortable 4-star rhythm from here on out, but this book built on the potential of the 1st and I think it deserves a boost to 5-stars for that alone.

What an awesome journey!

This book was so much fun. Zack is extremely op but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment as he keep finding challenges. You never really get the full satisfaction of him rampaging against weaker opponent so it's always keep you wanting for more. The world building and Adventures... They were really fun to watch as they unfold.

This one developed well on the first one, and I liked this one a bit more; enough for another star, anyway.

Lots of stuff going on. Not so much that it loses focus, but you can see Zac starting to realize how stretched he's going to be to maintain his position. He does delegate the city stuff pretty effectively, so he's smart enough for that at least. It kept my attention to the end, and I'm interested to see where it goes.
