Flipped through this novel again just to fact-check a minor detail but ended up binge-reading it. Speed-read the whole thing in 2 days. Pretty underrated tbh, this novel could've ended up being a major bestseller if the author was based in a huge market like the US and had access to better resources. Very serene, touching storyline, very accessible for all ages. Ambiguous (for lack of a better word), bittersweet ending
Story started with in a gloomy atmosphere. The plots are full with mysteries so that the intended young reader will keep reading. The story has a logical happy ending and all the suspenses have been accounted.
3 stars for the overall story, readability, and suitably wrapped-up ending.
The story is very touching, the plot twists are lined together naturally in the end, the book uses very simple Mandarin word and writing style, suitable for students and Mandarin learner to read
Given that this is a Chinese book no one actually reviews this in English but I'm going to be ironic because my first language is English despite the fact that I am Chinese This was one of the first few Chinese books I have read and it was very impacting given that I read it the first time almost 5 years ago and am still able to remember the key plot points I'm watching the TV show right now, knowing that the author added details of his personal life in this book was very insightful and made me feel like doing such when I write my own stories Will need to re-read something in Chinese soon, this would be one of the books I'd choose
