This book, described on the cover as "A Quest Miniature" is only 90 pages, the entirety of which easily fits in one hand. The content, however, is very large indeed.

My own experiences and others I have read are beautiful verified by this account. I was also delighted by the comment: "Yet what D.T. Suzuki called 'the most startling event that can happen in consciousness' is only a beginning."

Flora Courtois' experience of enlightenment was rated by Yasutani Roshi as a very clear kensho experience.

Flora Courtois had never heard of Zen when she had her experience in 1943. So this is an independent corroboration of Zen. Also, Flora communicated her experience better than even the accounts in Kapleau's "Three Pillars of Zen."

Although this book is small and very hard to find, it is well worth the search.

I can't believe some reviewers rated this with only three stars.
