Carrington Marcs still smells the Colonel's rancid breath. He still feels the resistance that the knife gave when it plunged in deep. Now he is traveling westbound, away from everything he held dear, without even knowing whether the Colonel is dead. He hopes to one day see Jamison and at the very least beg her forgiveness-but now all he knows is the railroad tracks that stretch far into the horizon.
Jamison, in her quest to wipe away the stigma of her birth, changes her name to Crystal, embodying the strength and fortitude of the shadowy female image she admires in the crystal that Carrington gifted her. Crystal endeavors to remake herself, modeling the enviable quality of sovereign self-possession that dripped from every word and deed of the Countess. But now that the Countess has departed the château, Crystal is left alone with Jon Roe for the duration of her lengthy recuperation.
What Crystal doesn't know is that Jon has a dark secret in his past. If he encourages Crystal to reinvent herself, will her venture break the carefully constructed life he's made?
This is the 2nd book of the author’s Flower Series books. It can be read as a standalone, but I think reading the 1st book will give the reader a better understanding of the who’s and why’s of the characters. In this book, the characters become their own persons out from under their pasts. In this book they became more interesting and distinctive. But I wonder if there pasts will catch up with them? Will their secrets destroy them? What happens between Chrystal and Jon? Will you get the answers now or in book #3? Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Thank you to #suzyapprovedbooktours and the author, #dksilver for a copy of their book to read and review. I have read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I recommend reading Book 1 in this series, THE WEIGHT OF FLOWERS, before reading this book so that you can read about the main characters’ pasts and how they came to be where they are during this book.
This book is set in the 1920s. It’s definitely less about history and more all about the characters. It does have some racy parts, but these are part of the plot’s evolution.
I really like the way the book is divided into two sections and deals with the two main characters: Carrington and Crystal separately.
In Carrington’s section, he is on a train out west escaping Kentucky when he meets Amy, who sees the need to rescue him.
In Crystal’s section, she is living abroad and being supported by Jon who has a very interesting back story. We do get glimpses of Crystal’s parents during this section returning to Kentucky via a ship across the Atlantic.
I enjoyed both sections, but something about Carrington’s story really stayed with me.
I’m also very curious to see more of Jon.
This book is a perfect teaser because I’m highly anticipating the next book in the series!
This is book two in the 𝘜𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, and I would suggest reading 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 first, mainly for the characters’ backstories.
This book is divided into two sections: Carrington and Crystal.
Carrington is on the run, remembering what it felt like as the knife sank into the Colonel. Carrington is on a Westward train when he meets the lovely and enchanting Amy. As much as he wants to remember his love for Jamison, Amy beguiles him and introduces him to exciting and dangerous things.
Jamison barely survives, and to rid herself of her connection to her father, she changes her name to Crystal. Now living abroad under the care of wealthy Jon Roe, Crystal soon discovers Jon is harboring secrets. I hope book three will unravel some unanswered mysteries, especially about Jon.
If you enjoy well-written stories with colorful characters, drama, and secrets - plus added spice, I recommend you jump into this series today.
Thank you @suzyapprovedbooktours and @danakschwartz for a spot on tour and a gifted book.
I could not wait to read Carrington's story and it did not disappoint! This novel picks up where the first one ends and we learn more about Carrington as well as the progression of Jamison as she continues to heal and reside in Jon's chateau. We get a deeper dive into Jon, his life and how he got to where he is currently which explains more of what we were introduced to in the first book. It will also be interesting to see what decisions Jamison makes as she struggles with her past and Jon's offer of the truth and possibilities of a future. Although the past is not gone and I feel like there just might be some surprises in the next book, with some of the storylines we were given in this novel. I am really looking forward to see where the characters go next, it seems like all are on a path to collision, sooner or later. Thank you to the author for the complementary novel and to Suzy Approved Book Tours for the invite. This review is of my own opinion and accord.
D.K. Silver the Author of “Forcing Shoots” has written the continuation of ‘the Weight of Flowers” This is the second book in the series, and I do think you should read the first book for better understanding. It was amazing to see the life changes of some of the major characters and to meet some new ones. The Genres for this novel are Literary Saga, Psychological Literary Fiction, and 20th century Historical Fiction. The story takes place in the 1920s.
The author describes her dramatic characters as complex, complicated, and flawed. The authors shows the impulsiveness, lust, sexual experimentation, and differing lifestyles. There are betrayals, secrets, and danger. Some of the characters have their own agendas.
Carrington seems to have moved in a different direction, and Jamison “Crystal” is recuperating and is very aware of Jon Roe, who does have secrets. There will be two more books in this series, and I am very curious to see what happens to the characters.
This is the second book in The Unforgetable Flower series. This time Carrington is on the run hoping to one day see Jamison. Jamison is reinventing herself and changes her name to Crystal. This is a historical, romantic suspense set in the 1920s, my favorite timeline. I really loved both books I do recommend you read the first book first. I'm looking forward to the next book. I really like this series.
Forcing Shoots is the second installment in The Flower Series and another emotional roller coaster, raw, mysterious and full of secrets. Dark, provocative and a bit unsettling at times, this complex story will keep you at the edge of your seat. I recommend you read the first book first.
Thank you Suzy Approved Book Tours for this tour invite.
𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 by D.K. Silver released February 6, 2024.
I loved the writing style, and how the story intertwined mystery and historical romance. Jon is helping Crystal recover, but he is also holding a big secret. If Crystal continues to reinvent herself, it poses a threat to the life Jon has made for himself.
This book grabbed my attention, and held it until the very end. Great book, and I love the descriptive writing style the author has.
This is the second book in The Flower Series. The covers are stunning and the writing is incredible. Both books are compelling and very steamy! The characters are unique and truly unforgettable. This is not like historical fiction I’ve read before - - wow!
Forcing Shoots is a page turner and further explores the characters from book one The Weight of Flowers. The story stands on its own and leaves you asking for more.
