Ella Speaks French in Montreal by Lucie Angers is a delightful and creative bilingual journey that makes learning French both fun and meaningful. Through Ella’s diary, readers experience her excitement, struggles, and growth as she adapts to life in Montreal and immerses herself in Quebec culture. The clever blend of English and gradually introduced French vocabulary feels natural and engaging, allowing readers to learn effortlessly alongside Ella. With Edgar Bridwell’s charming illustrations, this book is perfect for beginners or young language learners. Highly recommended for families, educators, and anyone who wants to discover French the fun, story driven way!

This book is adorable!! This should be required reading for anyone learning French. Ella is an exchange student studying French in Montreal. She takes you through her adventures while she teaches the reader how to speak French. I have never learned French and was able to read and understand the French as the book progressed.

Loved this book! It starts out in English with a couple of words in french and by the end of the book you will be reading fully in French. Such a great idea for a language learning book and a super fun way to learn to read in French!

Amazing language learning tool. I wish there were more books that followed this progressive method.

Without knowing it, I've been waiting for something like this ever since I started learning French years ago.

The story is fine. The method is ingenious.

Thank you to the author!
