大风吹

沈武、梅花和刘福，从小一起长大。沈武是打铁匠的儿子，刘福是酒厂老板的儿子，而梅花是刘家的童养媳。1942年，沈武14岁，刘福13岁，梅花15岁。1942年1月，吉隆坡被日本军队攻陷了。

战争的来临就像大风吹，吹走了城里的有钱人、吹痛了无处可逃的穷人，也吹散了一个个美满的家庭。学校被迫关闭，街上都是受伤的人、死去的人和逃难的人。逃不了的穷苦百姓，只能留在原地，面对凶暴的日本军，活在恐惧和痛苦之中。

沈武习武多年，日军来到时，他用尽全部力量保护梅花。梅花则与当时的许多女孩一样，为了不被日军抓走，被迫剪短头发，装扮成男孩。刘福天真又傻气，不知道战争的可怕。1942年的三个少年，活在非常时期，今日不知明日事，他们是怎么面对眼前一场接着一场的苦难的呢？

1955年生，马来西亚吉打人。

大学时代修习动物学系，后进修教育硕士学位。曾任教师、编辑、课本编者、专栏作家。

80年代出版散文集《大学生手记》《教书匠手记》，2006年开始创作少年长篇小说，著有《七天》《十月》《闪亮的时刻》《55年》《消失在醒来后》《鹅卵石》《青色的围墙》《小黄鹂鸟》《把你带走》《河两岸》《再看一眼》，先后授权中国青岛出版社（2010年）和浙江少年儿童出版社（2015年）在中国出版简体中文版。另，《七天》《闪亮的时刻》《十月》《鹅卵石》已被改编成电视剧。

2012年开始出版长篇小说《大风吹过少年时》三部曲——《大风吹》《扮新娘》《跳房子》。2013年出版绘图小说《男孩与海龟》《遇见大傻瓜》《再见大傻瓜》《我爱长鼻猴》。2014年开始出版《不完全人类》系列小说，同年授权中国浙江少年儿童出版社在中国出版简体中文版。2016年出版了《快乐学堂》系列小说。

曾获马来西亚第四届乡青中篇小说奖第一名、第一届马汉儿童文学双年奖。

Love the vivid descriptions and apt representation of the WWII in Malaysia and how different characters react differently to survive in the new environment. It tells of the contrast between those rooted to their strong values, particularly their pride and sense of justice, and those who choose to compromise these values in order to gain live a better life or simply to ensure the continuity of their own life. I loved the multiple complex characters developed.

What I didn't like about this book however was that the transition between war time and current times were disjointed and seemed to be forced in. Realistically, if taken that the grandfather recounted the entire story, there were unrealistic portions, were he wasn't present yet was still able to vividly recount the scene.
