After cleansing the Argent Spire and driving out the hellspawn attempting to establish a foothold in Lor, Sebastian was hoping for some time to rest and enjoy the good things in life. Unfortunately, time is in short supply, and there’s no rest for the wicked.
It has become abundantly clear that recent events are a part of something much bigger, and as word of fallen Towers and corrupted Dungeons spread, the children of the gods make ready to fight back.
In the heart of the Dreadmarsh, the sound of war drums fills the air as Uba’s children are called together for the first time in generations.
With his status as a Warlock now known to the humans, Sebastian is offered a place amongst Uba’s children. But first he must earn it, and earn it quickly, for word as come from the east of a city under siege and the people have no time to wait on a single man.
Cross a deadly swamp, defeat a demon army, and seal a hole in the very fabric of reality. Just another day in the life of a hero…. Right?
This book contains cursing, violence, nontraditional relationships, and adult content.
Sorry, but I lost interest at about the 40% mark and skimmed the rest until the end. I did like the story at first in the other books, but the first person narrative just wore on me. I don’t really like the MC at all which I think is what makes it so annoying for me. The constant pop culture references, dumb comments, and poor decisions that are just covered by plot armor make him very grating IMHO. I understand that it’s supposed to be part of his personality or supposed ‘charm,’ but he just seems more like a tool. The poor formatting on the stats hasn’t helped, nor the mediocre editing.
There are some spots where the author’s writing talent does shine through a bit and you see some talent, and the premise itself did draw me in, but the overall writing of the story just seemed lazy and clumsy in the end. Like the author couldn’t be bothered to fix certain things he knew better than to leave before publishing.
The MC takes on a demon incursion after experiencing a training montage by Orcs in the ways of war. He also deepens his relationship with the elven princess and then a goblin girl joins the harem. Meanwhile, the gods of Lor hatch a new plan to close the loophole exploited by the hellspawn. I enjoyed the adventure, the snark and the pop cultural references that made this a fun read. Though this could be the end, I hope not as I would read more of this series.
Good story and a nice amount of action and comedy. Like where the story is going and seeing more of Uba's children was pretty interesting. Looking forward to the next book.
Good characters and development the story keeps moving with more than a few plot twists that make the reader push forward and continue the story even after lights out.
I love this series and each book is always a fun, intense and thrilling read that's hard to stop once you start. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to more!
DNF'd at about 10%. So many things came around and I just didn't like the way this book was written. I wanted to like it, I tried coming back to it twice but just couldn't get into it. The series as a whole is difficult to recommend after this one.
Great series, great first arc. Love all the characters, love the world and a pretty unique story. The spicy stuff is hot and fits the story. Can't wait for the next book, see how our new Cambion does. Highly recommended.
This is probably of the best so far, it's does very well setting up such a global conflict between the void and the God's. Can't wait for the next book
I don't really like the way the story is unfolding in this book, so i'm dropping the series. That said, the first two books in the series were fairly good. And this one was fine.
