Coming face to face with a vicious looking dog named Peggy, isn’t how Becca expected to meet her new landlord, who also happens to be her very sexy new neighbor.
Becca Patterson is a successful photographer with a string of happy clients, including her BFF who is about to get married. Realizing she can’t be both the maid of honor and the photographer, she enlists the help of her assistant to take the lead. She thinks it’s all figured out until her very pregnant assistant is put on bedrest and can’t help on the wedding day.
Evan Wallace has just taken over management of the building Becca lives in, and despite his initial hesitance over fulfilling family obligations, things start to look up when he meets the beautiful tenant from apartment 302.
After a rocky start, no thanks to Peggy, Evan and Becca end up forming an unlikely friendship in more ways than one.
When they do each other a favor and pretend to be dating in the presence of their exes and family, it’s clear not only are they lying to everyone, but they’re also lying to themselves. Now their friends and family think they’re together, and they’re playing along.
But this can only end one way…
Right?
Portions of this story were previously published as the short story Opening Up in the One More Step Anthology by The Bookworm Box.
TK has called Texas home, even when she was living elsewhere with her Navy husband.
As a work-from-home/stay-at-home mom, she found joy in photography, which led the way to pursuing her dream of writing just one book. Her first novel, Being There, was self-published in 2013.
When. she's not writing, she can be found doing home renovations with her dad, or doing the empty nest thing. She and her husband enjoy spending time on the water, visiting their daughters at college, or just being with friends and family.
My one-word review for this story is delightful :) However, the last minute *misunderstanding* was just …why? I can’t even call it a third-act break-up circumstance because it literally was a blip in time, but it happened, and why? *blink*
Okay, aside from all that, this is a pretty low drama/angst with a lot of sweetness and humor rolled in a slow-growing (not burn because the sexy-sexy really wasn’t on the page at all) journey. I enjoyed myself listening to it and I more than likely would have enjoyed myself reading it as well. So there’s that.
I adore CJ Bloom. She is just so perfect with her narrations and really sucks the listener into the story with her skills. I’ve always enjoyed her, and this was no different. The story is *told* mostly from Becca’s perspective which means CJ was the one in my ears for most of the story and that’s another point in her favor. There is nothing wrong with Corvin King, but his voice has a shake-like quality that I can only withstand in small dosages. LOL He totaled about 2 hours in my ears so all was good! :)
The Stand In by TK Rapp Narrated by CJ Bloom and Corvin King
Story Rating: ⭐️⭐️ (0-5) Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5) Overall: 3/5 🔥 (0-5) Just kissing/very closed door.
What I’m Starry-Eyed Over: 🤩 Meet-cute but actually ugly that leads to very enemies-to-lovers vibes at the start. 🤩 New neighbors, new landlord, fake dating. 🤩Sweet, caring, and loving characters with matching sweet (and a little sassy) narrator voices. 🤩 Fake is my favorite & I actually loved all the parts with fake dating and exes. 🤩 I liked the first half of the book—I was interested in the characters and the story. 🤩 Great flirting and banter.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About: 💫 I didn’t really feel those early fake touches and kisses as deeply as I like. 💫The second half was a little underwhelming & didn’t really get me in my feels. It got serious and lost all the fun flirting and banter. It felt more like someone telling me the story rather than experiencing it. 💫 Miscommunication gets annoying. 💫 Saddest epilogue in the history of epilogues. Why would you do that to your readers?
I loved this book! It’s one of the cutest contemporary romances I’ve read in a while :) I loved the characters so much and felt very connected to them and their story :’) I can’t wait for the second book to come out I miss them already!
The Stand In by T.K. Rapp is book one in her long awaited new series, Olde City. It is a sweet and enjoyable romance between Evan Wallace and Rebecca ‘Becca’ Patterson. A tale of fake dating, friendship and love.
Becca is a successful and popular photographer. She moved to Creek Hollow after she graduated college and opened her studio, Enchanting Moments. She was quickly befriended by Kim and Stacey then six months ago Hilarie became her assistant.
Evan Wallace is helping run the family business although it’s not his dream job. He has stepped up to manage an apartment complex known as the Olde City Building. He is a kind and thoughtful guy who everyone leans on but he finds it hard to open up to others.
One day Becca is confronted by a massive German Shepherd as she leaves her apartment. It turns out Peggy belongs to her very handsome new landlord. Then the day gets worse when a pregnant Hilarie informs her that she has been put on bed rest. Becca is exhausted and stressed over her best friend Hope’s wedding because she can’t take the photos and be maid of honour.
Evan offers to help her and they begin a unexpected friendship as she teaches him how to take photos. They find it easy to talk to each other and Evan puts her at ease with his calming nature. More bad news means they end up pretending Evan is her boyfriend at the wedding. This leads to them doing each other more favours and things become complicated because family and friends think they are really dating. The couple become confused over what is fake and what is real.
There is a great selection of secondary characters, you will be spoilt for choice for your favourite. For me it was Lou the elderly gentleman who lives in her building and gives both of them some really good advice. Her friends are funny and supportive. His parents are lovely and his two brothers provide some fun family banter.
What happens when everyone realise they faking it? Are they are falling for someone who doesn’t feel the same? Can they get their HEA when the relationship is built on lies? There are a few bumps along the way and some problems to sort out but Evan comes up trumps in the end. He is so romantic and adorable as he fights for her and the love they have for each other. Do they thank Peggy, fate or all of the pretending for bringing them together? The author gives Evan and Becca a lovely ending but be prepared as the epilogue ends on cliffhanger ready for the next book.
I loved reading about meet cutes and have to say this is definitely one Becca and Evan will never forget in their lives. T.K. Rapp brings us to this building where of all things you would never expect, lies, chaos and a love hidden. We have Becca, photographer extraordinaire and quite clumsy when it comes to her love life. Still a little heartbroken from her past ex she needs help not just in her love life but in her job as we. In comes Super Evan because in many ways that is one perfect word to describe him. It's hilarious to see how deep they go with their game and keep denying they're just friends. You can tell how easily their love comes together no denying the chemistry is there from the beginning with Peggy. T.K. Rapp definitely knows how to keep the romance going and oh my god the comedy in this book especially from Becca just made me like this book so much more. Not only do we see these two but we see Pops, in a way kind of like the matchmaker in the building and Evan's family very curious to see who will be next to find love in this beautiful building.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
This was a really sweet romcom. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for a good fake dating story Evan and Becca’s meet cute was so funny. I love it when pets unwittingly play matchmaker.
I really liked how the author balanced the story between Evan and Becca’s point of view. We see the earlier part of the story mostly from Becca’s perspective and then we finally get an insight into Evan’s thoughts and feelings and it just amps up the swoon factor.
I really enjoyed the build up of the relationship. It felt very organic. Slow burn isn’t usually my preferred pacing, but the pacing of this story was really good. It had me engaged the whole time and disappointed to reach the end of the story. From the way the epilogue ended, I hope we get to see more of Evan and Becca in the next book. I also liked the epilogue. It was different from your typical romcom epilogue and left me desperate for the next book.
This is a closed door romance, ie. there are no explicit scenes, only passionate kissing and as someone who reads a lot of romance with explicit content, I really like how the author was able to portray the tension and attraction between Evan and Becca, without spicy scenes. I didn’t feel like anything was missing.
I loved the side characters. It's a fun cast of different personalities that add depth to the story.
I don’t mind the miscommunication trope when it’s done well, and this one was. The characters are flawed the same way real people are flawed and sometimes we have trouble using our words, and jump to conclusions based on our personal hangups. I love that the other person was like, “no way in hell I'm letting you walk away. Talk to me and we'll figure it out.” (I’m trying to not be vague so as not to give away the best parts.) I think it lends validity to the strength of the relationship. If one person falters the other person is there to hold them up until they find their footing.
I really enjoyed the narration of this book. Corvin King is new to me, but I’ve listened to a few books narrated by CJ Bloom. I think they embodied the characters perfectly and they portrayed the emotions of the characters really well. They especially did a great job bringing out the humour is the story. The banter had me constantly grinning.
If you want a swoony romcom, with relatable characters, a fun supporting cast, and a little bit of drama, you should read this book.
*I received an early copy from Homecooked Books and this is my honest review.
Becca Patterson is a successful photographer. She meets her new landlord/apartment manager, Evan Wallace, when she encounters his off-the-leash dog by accident in her building. They strike up a friendship and when Becca’s assistant goes on maternity leave during an important wedding, she needs someone new to replace her assistant as she herself cannot focus solely on photographing the wedding because she also happens to be the maid of honour and needs to focus on those duties. Evan steps up to help her photograph the wedding to make up for his dog’s encounter with Becca and to spend more time with her. Both have had heartbreaks in the past and are currently focusing on their careers. When some events occur at the wedding’s rehearsal dinner, they both decide to enter into a fake relationship to make their exes jealous. But soon enough, this turns into real feelings.
This was such a fun and sweet read. I really enjoyed watching Becca and Evan slowly getting to know each other and their relationship grow. Both characters were soo cute and likable. Evan and his family were soo lovely, and I loved how welcoming his family were to Becca. This book had the right mix of humorous moments, as well as the serious deep moments that occurred when dealing with the information about Evan’s father. Overall, such a fun read that had me engaged throughout!
Featuring dual narration by CJ Bloom & Corvin King. Although mainly from Becca’s POV, they were both excellent with the narration. CJ Bloom did amazingly with bringing Becca’s fun and bright personality through. Corvin King portrays Evan very well. He was great at bringing forward his feelings; both his feelings when dealing with his relationship with Becca, but also his feelings of frustration, fear, and unpreparedness when dealing with the information about his dad. They both conveyed all the emotions and moods of both Becca and Evan fantastically. Their voices were perfect for the characters. Highly recommend!
Thanks to the author, T.K. Rapp, and the team at HomeCooked Books for providing me with an advanced audio review copy of this book. All opinions provided in this review are entirely my own.
🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧 📚The Stand In by TK Rapp 🎤Narrated by CJ Bloom & Corvin King
⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Stand In is a cute romcom filled with fake dating, friendship, love & some miscommunication. Our MC's, Becca & Evan have a meet cute of sorts gone wrong.
Becca is a very successful photographer. She moves to Creek Hollow after college & opens her own studio. Evan Wallace is reluctantly helping with his family's business. It's not his dream job but he steps up to help manage an apartment complex where Becca lives.
These two meet when Peggy, Evan's German Sheppard dog, lunges for Becca. She mistakenly thinks the dog is coming for her. Peggy scares the heck outta her but Evan steps in to save the day. The two meet & begin talking & Becca quickly realizes that Evan is her new landlord. To top things off, Becca's assistant is going on maternity leave & won't be able to help her out at her best friend's wedding. Left in a lurch, she's stressed out & worried how she's going to be able to be the wedding photographer & also the Maid of Honor.
Evan offers to help her out by offering to be her assistant at the wedding & an unexpected friendship begins to form quickly. To make things even worse, Becca has to attend the wedding alone since she broke up with her boyfriend & he'll be at the wedding, so....a fake dating situation ensues when Evan offers to go with her. Is Evan a nice guy? Yes, 100% and genuine. Is Becca clueless to that fact that Evan wants to be with her? Yes, 100%. These two have the biggest miscommunication problem but don't worry. They figure things out. This book does leave you on an emotional cliffhanger so watch out!
🎧Let's talk narration....CJ Bloom does a large amount of the narration in this one & she ABSOLUTELY elevated this story for me. She's always such a joy to listen to & makes these romcom situations so enjoyable with her comedic timing. She's so animated with her story telling. She's a favorite of mine & she ALWAYS delivers such great performances. Corvin King is a relatively new narrator to me & he did a great job when he did perform. I do have to say, I wish Corvin would have performed more. I love that back & forth narration especially with a cute romcom. This is a closed door romance. It does have lots of cute, funny situations & great banter despite that.
Thanks you so much TK Rapp & @homecookedbookpromos for the advanced listening copy in exchange for my honest review. Enjoyed it!
This was a good read. The fake dating to something motor trope was well-established and the MCs were very likable. Their romance was sweet and the side characters were all fun, with some likely to return as the series continues.
Becca is a professional photographer in need of a assistant, and after an adorable meet cute and a few run-ins with new landlord, Evan, finds herself with the temporary help she needs for her BFF’s wedding. While moonlighting, Evan also winds up being her fake date because of “my-ex-is-at-the-wedding” complications. There’s an adorable dog (❤️ Peggy), some heartwarming family dynamics, and fantastic BFF-vibes to surround our MCs. Their relationship builds very sweetly and believably. And while there is some ex drama and family health scares that crop up, their love story is fairly low on angst. And while evil ex-drama is not my favorite brand of conflict, it works fine here.
The narration definitely elevates this one for me. I adore C.J Bloom and she does a fantastic job bringing Becca to life. While Corvin King also does some fine work with Evan, Bloom was the standout for me with this audio. And it’s definitely worth a listen!
I’m grateful to have received an ALC copy of the audiobook via Home Cooked Books. I also read the book via KU. All opinions expressed are my own.
I absolutely enjoyed this story so much, from the interesting meet cute, thanks to Peggy, the German Shepherd, to the very end. Evan is the charming new landlord of the apartment building that Becca lives in. He agrees to help her on a photography assignment since she's short-handed. That leads to helping her out by also pretending to be her boyfriend. He's so eager to help her in any way he can and it's so sweet. Later in the story, she also agrees to help him by pretending to be his girlfriend. It's hilarious as they keep this "pretending" going. Their attraction to each other is obvious to everyone around them, and it's so sweet as they navigate their feelings but are too afraid to open up because of their vulnerabilities. And I absolutely love the friendships in this story and their banter. It always adds something extra to the story that I just love and appreciate. CJ Bloom and Corvin King are so wonderful as Becca and Evan. CJ always has that fun, upbeat, and sassy tone, and I'm here for it. She gives a perfect performance as Becca and I love the internal monolog when she's so obviously attracted to Evan but isn't ready to say it out loud. Corvin King is new to me. This was my time hearing him narrate and I was so impressed with his performance as Evan. His voice is smooth and has a caring tone that was spot on for his character. There is no doubt Evan is smitten for Becca and Corvin perfectly conveys that with his easy and soothing voice.
Becca is a photographer preparing to shoot her friend’s wedding (that she is the maid of honor in) after her assistant is forced to skip the event. She has a run-in with Evan, her neighbor / landlord via his unleashed dog Peggy. It’s one of the most awkward meet cutes you’ll read but still so entertaining. Becca is coming off a break-up and her cheating ex will be at the wedding. Evan is drawn to Becca immediately and jumps in to offer his help and stand in for her assistant at the wedding (and her date).
Becca is hesitant to trust people and keeps a small close-knit group of friends. Evan comes from a loud, nosy family and is delightful as he tries to move beyond their fake relationship. He’s loyal to a fault when it comes to his family and obligations. Their fake relationship becomes real almost immediately. This is a fun, cute romcom about two people that genuinely enjoy each other’s company. However, there is A LOT of miscommunications, almost to frustration. It’s a quick easy read, with likeable characters and a fun plot.
This is dual narration with CJ Bloom and Corvin King. The male POV doesn’t come in until the 50% mark and is limited throughout the rest of the story. I would’ve liked a little more of the male POV since Corvin King is new to me and I enjoyed him in this. However, CJ Bloom was wonderful as Becca and had no problem carrying the bulk of the narration.
The Stand In is a closed-door romance. Don't let that dissuade you from reading (or listening to) the story. It's a fake relationship trope between photographer Becca Patterson and her new landlord Evan Wallace, which is one of my favorites. Their meet-cute involving Evan's dog Peggy was perfect. I really enjoyed the first half of the book. T.K. Rapp does a wonderful job creating this world, mostly from Becca's perspective. Fair warning, if miscommunication is a hang-up for you, there is some of that in this book.
The secondary characters in this story were fabulous. From the gossipy ex-girlfriend, to the very pregnant assistant, to the elderly neighbor, T.K. Rapp built a cozy corner of the world for us to experience. High marks for Evan's supportive and sometimes too involved family as well.
I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by CJ Bloom and Corvin King. CJ lends her talents to this book, really giving each character their own sound and voice. This was my first Corvin King book, and I enjoyed his performance. I do wish he varied his voice more for the different characters though.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. Thanks to Homecooked Books for the advanced copy so I could review it.
Evan has recently moved into the Olde City Building as a favor to his parents so that he can manage it and keep an eye on one of their tenants who holds a special place in his family’s heart. He may not have made the best first impression on Becca however when he offers to help her out with her photography business a truce is formed.
Becca’s photography business is busy so when her assistant needs to start her maternity leave early, she is conflicted as Becca is part of the wedding and her assistant was going to take the pictures. She has her reservations however she is very grateful he is there when her ex shows up with his fiancé and Evan agrees to pretend, they are a couple.
What begins as a friendship turns into something much deeper as they support each other against their exes and regarding a difficult family situation. Even though they had some misunderstanding they had their friends and family to point them in the right direction before it is too late. The time listening to this book seemed to pass by as the narrators were entertaining both when it came to the characters and the story.
The Stand In Olde City Book 1 By TK Rapp Narrated by CJ Bloom & Corvin King
Can you date your landlord? Becca meets her new landlord when his dog comes to her. Evan is the new property manager, and while he does own that mean puppy the two strike up a friendship and end up being fake dates for each other. Problem is, they can't seem to get out of it. Different circumstances keep occurring, keeping them together. What happens next? This is a delightful story packed with romance. But it's not just about Becca and Evan. There is so much more. It's family and holidays. And neighbors! The relevance of aging, sage advice and love. It's fabulous and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
CJ Bloom and Corvin King bring this alive. Mostly from Becca's point of view, CJ Bloom dives into being Becca. She is bright and full of all love and compassion. Corvin King is Evan, and his feelings with family are spot on! Unprepared, scared, frustrated, he brings out all the things we know and feel. These two give a fantastic dual narration and it was wonderful for the ears.
Story - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Narration - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice/Steam - 🌶🌶
The Stand In is book #1 in the Olde City series. T.K. Rapp is a new author to me and I just loved this one. Becca meets her sexy landlord, Evan, and his off-the-leash dog by accident in her building. Both have had heartbreak in the past and are focusing on their careers. When Becca needs an assistant for a wedding shoot (she's also in the wedding), Evan volunteers to help her out...and spend more time with the sexy photographer. I fell in love with all the characters in this story (except Evan's ex) because it was like listening to my own family and friends. All real people with real issues, real jobs, with lots of funny and endearing moments. I sure hope we get more stories from these characters.
The narration was perfect. CJ Bloom and Corvin King were the voices for Becca and Evan. CJ Bloom gave us the focused, no nonsense workaholic Becca. Corvin King brought the business minded, maybe a little nerdy, but sexy none-the-less, Evan. This duo were definitely 5 stars for me!
Becca is in a stage in life where she wants to put herself out there again after cheating boyfriend but she’s also still hurt from that betrayal. Meeting her new landlord in a meet cute way, she is instantly pulled to him.
Evan is taking over for his dad and running an apartment complex. He’s always the one the family leans on and very dependable. When he hears Becca is in a predicament, he jumps in and offers to help her out.
Being the photographer AND the Maid of Honor in her best friend’s wedding, she decides to take the help from Evan to be her second photographer. Getting close together during the drive, the wedding and the one bed hotel room, both Evan and Becca have a hard time not falling for each other.
They both “fake date” each other but there’s not a lot of faking. They end up falling hard for one another.
Tropes: Forced Proximity One Bed Fake Dating Close Friends/Found Family Close Family No Spice
The narrators did a good job. I enjoyed listening to them tell the story and give the characters a voice.
These two meet when Evan's dog run into Becca and she tears him a new one. Then she finds out he not only lives in the building he is the landlord. When her assistant is put on bed rest before one of Becca's good friend's wedding she was standing up in and the assistant was suppose to photograph. Evan steps up and offers to be her Stand In. Then an unexpected guest has him pretending to be her boyfriend. Which leads to her helping him out pretending to be his girlfriend. An entertaining story that I enjoyed listening to as these two fake to be together deal with family, meddling, deceitful ex's, feelings, misunderstanding. The only thing I have a problem with is the end of the epilogue which I hope there is going to be more books which will give me answers.
I received a copy from Home Cooked Books and listened to through BookFunnel.
I listened to the audiobook and I’m sure that I liked the story more because of the audio format. Many of the chapters were from Becca’s perspective, performed by the fabulous CJ Bloom. Evan’s chapters were performed by new-to-me Corbin King. Both narrators kept me engaged in the story.
T.K. Rapp is a new-to-me author. I liked that the characters overcame an adverse meeting (just a hint of enemies to lovers) and moved into a fake relationship. I liked seeing things develop between them and the book got off to a really great start. It was a little repetitive with mistrust toward the end, but I’d give it 4.5 stars and I’m still interested in listening to more by T.K. Rapp. There was a bit of a cliffhanger lead in to what I hope is another book, but it doesn’t involve the main characters of this book.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request and the opinions here are my own.
This is book 1 in Rapp's Olde City book series and I just got swept away by these characters and their journey. A well written, smooth flowing romance read. More sweet than heat but the chemistry is there between these two from the start only they can't seem to read minds - funny, I can't either. When they finally own up and open up can a real bond exist or is it too late? Dual narration by Bloom and King bring to life Becca and Evan. I adored their meet cute and all the rollercoaster of invasions that either bring them together or seem to tear them apart. From exes to babies, this book was a delight. Oh, and the secondary characters were perfect, and I hope for more - Becca's besties and Evan's family are wonderful. This was a great intro to a new series and I'm excited for more!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review. *this review is based on the audio version of this read.
Our story starts out as an enemy to lovers when handsome new landlord’s dog Peggy corners Becca on her way to work. Becca is a photographer and her assistant is now on bed rest a few weeks before Becca’s best friend’s wedding they were supposed to work together. As a sorry my dog scared you, Evan (landlord) agrees to help Becca. Before the rehearsal Evan helps even more by starting a fake relationship. The rest of the story is a cute romcom that has many ups and downs due to no communication. It was a cute story but seriously one of the saddest cliffhanger epilogues I have read in a while. Hopefully book 2 comes along quickly so we see what happens. Cj bloom is ALWAYS a joy to listen to. Her narration skills are superb. Corvin King is a new to me narrator and although he is barely narrating throughout the book he did a good job.
Audiobook: This was my first experience with T.K. Rapp's work, and it was charming. Becca Patterson was a successful photographer. Evan Wallace was the new manager of the apartment complex where Becca resided. The story featured a fake relationship trope which has always been one of my favorite tropes. The slow growing relationship between Becca and Evan was lovely. I enjoyed the characters of Becca and Evan as they were likeable and engaging. I loved Peggy as she was a lovely addition to the family. There were some humorous moments. C.J. Bloom's and Corvin King's dual narrations were great, and their performances enhanced the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook by Home Cooked Books, and I have voluntarily posted this review which included my opinions.
The Stand In is a wild fake relationship romance. I like Becca, she reminds me of the insecure little girl we have inside and the feelings of not being good enough for someone. Evan seems like the hot popular jockey we had the mega crush on, I had that crush. Becca is too hard on herself, sounds like the ex did a number on her. I liked the force proximity moments they had. This book had the laugh and the aww moments. I didn't know what to expect with this book, I was pleasantly surprised as this was the first time listening to T.K. Rapp and it won't be the last. I really like CJ Bloom, her voice is soothing to me and I haven't heard Corvin King before, he was good voicing this book. Together they did a wonderful job bringing this world to life.
Title: The Stand In Author: T.K. Rapp Genre/s: Contemporary romance My format: Audiobook 🎧 #ALC Narrators/Production: CJ Bloom & Corvin King Narration style: dual Spice level: 1 (closed door) Feels: 🥹😂🫠🤭
This was a super duper cute closed-door rom com.
Fake dating is my favourite trope and this was a super fun example of that. The forced proximity, the ‘is this even fake anymore’, just everything. So good.
The narration was impeccable. I’ve heard both narrators before and both are excellent actors, giving us all the right emotions, great tone of voice, great pace, and I really enjoyed the characters as I got to know them.
Th@nks to: @homecookedbooks_promos for providing this copy.
**These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
This was such a fun sweet read! I loved how Evan and Becca meet because of his dog Peggy! The story was a perfect fake dating to make exes jealous but turns into real feelings fast! Evan was such an amazing guy. His family was so sweet meeting Becca and welcoming her in. I really loved how caring his family was for each other I could feel their pain when given the news about their father.
Evan’s ex was horrible she of course had to cause some drama that thankfully everyone was able to figure out soon.
CJ Bloom and Corvin King did an amazing job bringing the characters to life in this audio!! I really enjoyed their voices. 🖤 I cannot wait to see where this series goes next! Pops 🖤
The Stand In is the first book in The Olde City series. This is my first T.K. Rapp book. This book has some fake dating with a dash of enemies to lovers vibes. Becca and Evan don’t have a great introduction. Becca gets trampled by Peggy, Evan’s dog. Evan is Becca’s new landlord and looks like he could be an underwear model. They end up fake dating as a favor. I wish this book had more spice. It was fade to black. I am interested where this series might go.
CJ Bloom did a fantastic job narrating most of this book. Corvin King did a great job with the parts he narrated.
The Stand In (Olde City Book 1) is new release by TK Rapp. I was so happy to hear that TK Rapp had a new book coming out.
This story of Becca and Evan. The had wonderful main characaters. I really enjoyed the supporting characters too. The story gave a wonderful feeling of love and friends.
I found the story easy to read and one I couldn't put down.
The story is five star read. I love really love how TK Rapp tells her stories. I so can't wait for the next book in the series.
This is my first book by TK Rapp. The Stand In is full of laughs, love and amazing characters.
Becca and Evans are such a great couple. They have amazing banter, dialogue and become a great pair. Both are experiencing some stressful situation and need help. They become great friends, partners and confidants. A sweet and fun love story.
Cj Bloom and Corvin King did an amazing job! They gave the characters perfect voice, personality and emotion. Narrators being a whole new experience to enjoying an authors words.
This neighbors to enemies to lovers, fake dating, closed door romance was so much fun! I really liked the characters and I enjoyed the fake relationship trope in this book. I liked where this book was headed and the sweet, low angst, humourous vibes of this book made it a great listen. I wasn’t a big fan of the miscommunication/third act break up because it didn’t really make sense to me.
CJ Bloom and Corvin King were amazing in this book and I really enjoyed their narration!
This was my first T.K. Rapp, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Olde City Series. I loved this sweet and heartwarming fake relationship romance. I loved to follow Becca and Evan in this first installment in the series. The characters are well developed, and interesting. I liked the family bonds, and the friendship in the story. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. CJ Bloom and Corvin King did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to the next book in the series. #HomeCookedBooks
This was my first book by this author, but I picked up the audio because C. J. Bloom is one of my favorite narrators. She is always fun to listen to and makes the most of the humor in romcoms. I enjoyed her performance as always, and she kept me listening in parts where the story dragged a bit. Corvin King is new to me, and I liked his performance.
