I found this at an used book sale for $1. Sweet! What a deal. Packed full of poems that are nothing extraordinarily unique or mind-blowing but completely honest and real. Deals with adult issues in ways that I hope I never have to, but if I do, I would want to tackle those obstacles with such beauty and grace.
2nd read: Maybe it is my increased exposure to poetry in general or my specific shift in poetic tastes, but I didn't enjoy reading this collection as much this time. I remember being blown away with the "beauty and grace" of the poems the first time around. This time, I thought many of the poems were average, basic, nothing exciting. The last two sections were certainly the highlight. I do appreciate Foulcher's ability to balance being sentimental and descriptive. Some really great images in there. Sadly, not a 5 for me anymore.
