The life of an android spirals out of control once she’s recalled as obsolete. Now retired from paramilitary duty, only her creator can rebuild her to A.I.-completeness, the most humanlike of all droids. Yet Roberta finds being human isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s confusing, it’s erratic, and at times, downright humiliating. But with help from an ensemble of loved ones, she discovers how to navigate this thing called life. And when one of those loved ones is abducted, only saving her will make Roberta truly complete, but something other than humanity is needed; a killing machine is needed, and Roberta comes ready-made.This story contains adult language.
First of all, I'm a new fan of Jay A. Harris! Roberta-Complete, a fast-paced, full of action, romance with kick-butt characters will keep you engaged from beginning to end. The well-developed main character, Roberta, brought back memories of the badass female terminator in Rise of the Machines. Roberta, who has both artificial and human characteristics, has her own badass qualities of an everyday woman and a military warrior. As I read along, the author's descriptions were so realistic, it was like watching an action movie 🎬 inside my head. This page turner will NOT disappoint. The story will suck you in and leave you wanting more. If you love action with futuristic aspects, fantasy, romance, and damn good writing, I highly recommend this book! BRAVO! 👏
"Roberta Complete" offers a contemporary twist on the Terminator concept, featuring a formidable female lead. In this riveting tale, Roberta, an AI robot with an intriguing blend of artificial and human qualities, ventures through various incarnations, captivating readers from the very start. The narrative unfolds into a thrilling exploration of a world where AI assumes a commanding role, providing a wild yet disconcertingly authentic glimpse into the possibilities and challenges of a future shaped by artificial intelligence. A compelling and thought-provoking read that immerses readers in a gripping storyline from beginning to end.
I’m always visualizing everything I read. So, first let me comment that the imagery of ‘Roberta Complete’ is personified by the artistry of it’s cover. It intrigued me to dive into this thought provoking and compelling story – and I was not disappointed. I was totally blown away by the modern angle on the concepts behind the ‘Terminator’ sagas.
I was continuously impressed by the character development within the multi-dimensional story line which follows the journey of a strong female lead, Roberta, an anatomically correct robot engineered by meshing both artificial and human behaviors. Jay A. Harris captivates you with the ‘stages of evolution,’ so to speak, that chronicles the initial deployment, adjustments and upgrades of Roberta by her creator, Dr. Kenneth Murphy.
This suspenseful adventure places Roberta into a multitude of situations and she finds herself having to handle an assortment of… pretty divergent roles from a Nanny and flower shop gal to serving as a bodyguard and a military warrior.
I think when a work from this genre gives you such a wide range of story, it keeps you turning pages. Roberta Complete holds you on the edge of your ‘reading seat’ with a bunch of plot twists that make it hard to put down. It has a full combine of the revenge and treachery you might anticipate from the start – and for this reader, the romance only adds to the overall intriguing plot.
With so much ’AI’ conversation prevalent in the world today, the concepts behind developing ‘Roberta’s’ in the near future do not seem so far-fetched. So this book, gives on pause for some reflection on the role artificial intelligence plays in our lives now… and on the horizon.
Mr. Harris’s writing style is excellent, and his flair for suspense keeps you flipping pages and to see what happens next! I would absolutely recommend this mind-enthralling five star read, and I look forward to getting to experience more of this author’s work.
It’s impossible NOT to think of The Terminator while reading this but where this writer does Cameron a few better what the energy source of our droid Roberta is actually explained - the sun - and these droids are susceptible to viruses (get it? COMPUTER viruses!) the fact that Roberta had actual melanin puts her over the top. also, in the iykyk category, cue that Roger & Zapp hit from 1985!
This was a very interesting book, and the first I have read of this genre. I was welcomed into the world of technology and A.I. and I like it here. A glimpse into the future! Great storyline. Sound like a part two is in the future!
3.5/5 ⭐️ This was an easy read! A great action book to keep the pages turning to see what will happen next! I love the droid characters Roberta and Mildred! But most of all the story or plot of how these companies be using these technologies to be so hella advanced is crazy! To be honest, we’re not that far off in the real world! Overall, a great plot, great action, and liked the ending…
