I received a free ARC for an honest review of this book.

Although I get frustrated with cliffhangers in novellas, I have to admit that getting a novel in shorter sections that are released more often beats having to wait longer to get them released as a novel! And the added benefit is that unlike a traditional trilogy, where the middle volume is just the bridge between in which everything is set up for the last one, because both of the first two parts of a novella trilogy are bridges to the last, the cliffhangers aren't as annoying!

As with the first novella, Crashed, I found myself forgetting to breathe at moments of high action and I literally gasped when I turned the page to discover I'd reached the end of this volume. Miller once again effortlessly submerged me in the narrative and I loved every minute of it.

She also included a bit of dialogue that summarized one of my fondest hopes with romantic suspense books, and one that is too seldom met. "She gave him a soft look. 'Yes, it would. A beautiful, wonderful distraction. I want to float through my days, forgetting where I left my keys, and generally wandering around in a blissful fog.' Her look hardened. 'But we can't afford that now. For now, just for now, we need to forget last night ever happened.'...'But she was also right. Distraction was dangerous, and in this case, potentially deadly.'" FINALLY!!! A romance-suspense novel where the characters actually think with their brains instead of other parts of their anatomies! I'm ecstatic that Miller has written characters that are capable of putting their survival first.

Now I just have to wait for the final novella in this brilliant addition to the Shenandoah Shadows series. Fortunately, that wait won't be too long!

Review for Chased by Melissa F. Parker

I loved this novella. I think it moved even faster than Crashed. It had great chemistry between Ryan and Leilah. Leilah is definitely a resourceful and smart partner for Ryan to have with him.  I really liked the back history given for Ryan and the name of the library, Seamus McGillicuddy that Leilah remembered from a conversation Ryan had with her brother.
Leilah was impressed with the suite at Savoir Faire,Ryan had booked to stay in.The actual car chase scenes were easy to visualize and the dialogue between Ryan and Leilah was realistic and romantic in places. The beach scene with the sunset added contrast to Chelsea’s camping tent that was to be their bed for the night instead of the suite. I look forward to the last book, Caught. I was given an arc copy of this book and I am freely leaving this review.

Novella #2 in the Leilah and Ryan short stories. Just when we thought that Ryan and Leilah were safe after the deliberate sabatogue of her vehicle and attempted murder in Crashed, and the person they believed was responsible essentially neutralized, an attempt on Ryan’s life is nearly successful when he starts his vehicle and it blows up in his face nearly taking him with it. Since no one is around to help, Ryan must run for his life while being pursued by an unknown adversary. Once again, the Potomac group is on the hunt to determine what is going on and why. This second story is very exciting and a quick read. The story ends on a cliff-hanger which leaves the reader gasping for breath. Really looking forward to Novella #3

I am becoming an avid reader of Melissa Miller's books. "Chased " is an eruption of excitement, educating, and an empowering short story.

Ryan and Leilah are two people who get entangled  into murder, drugs, and love.

With Leila's driving skills, and Ryan's ability to overcome obstacles with his critical thinking skills; this book became a 5 for me. The empowerment of a woman race car driver is thrilling and truly action adventure.

As a nurse, I enjoyed this book on an educational level. This book captured my attention for its use of Medical Terminology. One must research to capture the full meaning and  hidden potential effects if you are not familiar with  adverse outcomes. This  tantalizing book will capture your attention and provide  you with a exciting roller coaster ride.

Leilah and Ryan's story continues. The chemistry between these two characters is amazing, you can feel it through their words and actions. Normally I do not like these novellas but this one has been spaced out so that you have time to think about what has just happened, then the next book comes out. I actually went back and reread the series from book 1. In this book, running from who was after them, who they were after, and why, Ryan and Leilah relive what had happened to them 10 years ago and for me a lot of what was revealed made sense and brought back memories of the previous books. I cannot wait for the next installment!!!

The second installment of this trilogy opens with a lot of excitement. Ryan has realized he is the one being targeted, so he plans to dissappear in order to protect everyone else. Leilah figures out where he would have gone and finds him, but the bad guys, whoever they are, are hot on their trail. Leilah pushes her relationship with Ryan to the next level, and then with the antithetical action common to current romance genre, does an about face when Ryan responds as she requested. She is able to figure out from the files they found what everyone else has missed to this point. The next upcoming book should bring the conclusion to this 2-hour romance trilogy.

A thrilling continuation to Leilah's and Ryan's adventures. Chased picks up where Crashed ends and doesn't let up, neither intrigue-wise, now pace-wise.

Like always, Melissa's brilliant narrative style keeps the reader at the edge of the seat with anticipation.

A lot of sass(from Leilah, mostly), unshakeable friendships, love, adrenaline-spiking thrill and above all, Melissa's clever writing makes Chased a delight to read.

A brilliant, short read.

Highly recommended!

I received an ARC of Chased which is book eight in the Shenandoah Shadows series of novellas. This is a terrific series with great characters, dialogue and action. Book eight picks up after Ryan barely escapes death when someone blows up his car. He is on the run until he can figure out who is out to get him and why. His budding romance with Leilah complicates being on the run but clues are discovered. I am looking forward to the final book in the series to see how it all gets wrapped up.

Another exciting installment in the Shenandoah Shadows novella series, Chased is the second in the Ryan/Leilah relationship story and, and like the first (novella #7), Crashed, it’s fast-paced action from start to finish. I don’t want to say much about the story because it might spoil it for a reader who plans to read these in order (recommend). Suffice it to say I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this storyline in #9 which I hope is coming soon!!

Chased is the exciting continuation of Ryan and Leilah's story. It seems that a case in Ryan's past is the impetus for the danger that they face. As they track down the answers, they race to stay ahead of whoever want them dead. But is Ryan now pulling away from Leilah? Is she simply Ryan's best friends little sister? Is he using her? Is Ryan truly the reason for the danger that they are in? All this and more is waiting to be answered. I eagerly await the rest of the story.

Why is an Honest Lawyer Being Chased?

In Action/Adventure, Romantic Thriller "Chased", Melissa F. Miller continues Ryan & Leilah's engrossing story. This Series is meant to be 📖 in Chronological Order (Every 3 📚, are about another Couple).

Can Leilah & Ryan survive the dangerous twists thrown their way, while being relentlessly Chased? I Highly Recommend You 📖 this excellent, page-turning Novella to find out! I'm eagerly waiting the next Novella (9). ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chased moves faster than the previous novella in this series. We learn more about Leilah and Ryan. When it becomes apparent that people are after him and not her, he goes off the grid. She is not about to let him go off alone and manages to find him. Together, they set about finding out what this is all about. Like the previous book, this ends in a cliffhanger and the next story is when we will find out who the culprit is and why this is a problem.

While Crashed sets up the premise that somebody wants Ryan and/or Leilah dead, Chased delves more deeply into who that might be and what their reasons are. The book continues the action-paced style of Crashed and develops it even further. Once again the ensemble cast is used to great benefit.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the team takes down the "bad guys".
I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion.

Another fast-paced thriller in this series! I’ve enjoyed these last two novellas so much that I’ve gone back to read all of the books in this series.

Ryan and Leilah are in even more danger on the run again! The characters are really connected and make an exceptional team.

Another book you’ll zip through because you don’t want to put it down!

Chased is definitely the right name for this book. On the go, being chased, by the good and the bad guys, Leilah and Ryan can’t seem to catch a break. Until they find that prized car that holds some answers and a nighttime beach rendezvous, things start changing for the better. This is the 2nd book of the 3 book series.

Chased continues on with the romance between Ryan and Leilah. With Ryan literally being chased, this story will leave you feeling like you are running with him, trying to find the answers! Join Ryan and Leilah as they search for the answers, not sure who to trust, trying to stay alive and keep their feelings in check. The ending is sure to leave you...in suspense!

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Ryan is still being hunted and his car exploded in a secure parking lot. Leilah goes after Ryan so he doesn't need to deal with all this alone and they uncover some answers after finding out two others he had worked with before were killed. This had some action to keep you wondering who was behind it all.

Another great read. Melissa z keeps her readers going. She says there are no cliff hangers, but you need to read the next book for the conclusion. Reading this series is like a scavenger hunt, you have to keep going to end the mystery. Loving it.

Leilah’s and Ryan’s story continues where it left off in Crashed. It gets more exciting with every chapter! You never know what might happen next. Who wants Ryan dead, is the question. It’s very well developed and fast paced. It ends in a cliffhanger, so now I’m ready for Caught.

I liked book 2 of Ryan and Leilah's story. Ryan is in hiding after the events at the end of book 1, but Leilah was never going to let him stay put alone, even if he did it so she could be safe.

They spend time trying to hide, figure out why they're in danger in the first place, and also navigate their relationship - if they even have one.

This was a fast-paced story, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ties up in the end.
