Rating: 5 Stars!! Review: Thank you to SR for picking me to participate in this Paid Promotion Book Tour hosted by Bookinfluencers.com this week and for the FREE ARC Copy to promote and review for her.
This Book was such a Rollercoaster Ride with so many Plot Twists especially that last one OMG How just HOW?! Ugh My Heart breaks for Janie and Josh which makes me feel impatient for Book 3 this Summer because that was just so shocking to read.
The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. Lizzie. Janie and Josh were definately my favorites. I loved their connection to each other and how they tryed to handle everything best they good. I felt for Josh when he dealt with his Dad's illness but didnt see the need for him to push Lizzie away.
The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in Southport, North Carolina especially when the scenery was described.
I loved how SR included some Discussion Questions at the end of the book so here's my answers to those: The Scene that stuck with me the most was when Lizzie and Josh were arguing when she accidentally slept over at Gray's house. I saw both of them messed up with that situation so it could of played out better.
Least Favorite Scene was when Lizzie got drunk while at dinner with Gray cause there was a moment when they could of accidentally gotten Intimate if he hadnt backed off.
When Lizzie got shot by Catalina that really made me cry as hard as janie was crying.
I did not expect the ending i thought Lizzie would get happiness.
For an Alternate Ending i wouldnt of killed off Lizzie i would of extended that scene where she's taken to the hospital they do surgery and she slowly recovers by Book 3. I mean she was a character who was happy and then all of a sudden she's shot and killed it was a little bit of a letdown especially when the reader is rooting for her.
In the beginning i didnt but as the story went on i did see Gray grow as a person and do better.
Yes i do believe Gray and Janie needed to stay in Southport.
I really hope Lizzie will return in Book 3 but i have my doubts after that ending.
I think Josh will work with Detectives to find Catalina and make sure she's sent to a high security Prison with no chance of Parole.
In Book 3 i think Josh will help Detectives find Catalina and send her to a HIGH SECURITY PRISON with no chance of Parole. He'll get Janie back and i'd like to see a Time Jump of how Janie is doing with school and life since losing Lizzie.
Overall a Phenomenal Book 2!! Can't wait to read Book 3 when it comes out This Summer!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
If you thought the first book was suspenseful, wow - this one has you really hanging by the edge. Lizzie should be looking forward to getting her life back on track, she has her daughter back and a wonderful man in her life who truly cares for her and Janie. However, when the father of your child has all the money in the world and what seems to be immense power in getting what he wants the fear of the future is always there. Although Gray claims he really is a changed man, Lizzie won't hold her breath. She knows he will do and say anything to get what he wants. In the midst of having a battling court case, photos surface that may just question Lizzie as a parent and it seem that Gray's past is still doing damage behind bars. Only wanting to move on with her and Janie's life, it seems that Lizzie is losing all control and her actions are being called into question. Instead of planning a wedding, she is fighting for her daughter and the truth of who she really wants to be with. This was a great second book in the series and I am super curious how book three will come out as the future really is unknown. Thank you to Book and Wine Lovers Marketing for the invite and to the author for the complementary novel and book goodies! This review is of my own opinion and accord.
Join Lizzie Levine on an enthralling adventure in the eagerly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed novel *Call Her Janie*. Crafted by the imaginative S.R. Fabrico and set amidst the charming scenery of Southport, North Carolina, this continuation elevates the tension, weaves unexpected turns, and heightens the emotional stakes.
The writing skills of the author are flawless and I was engaged throughout the book without getting bored. Through her Captivating writing style I could visualise the whole plot unfolding in front of my eyes like a movie little by little. Reconnecting with her daughter, Janie, was meant to herald the beginning of Lizzie’s idyllic existence. Yet, away from the public eye, the reality was starkly different. The joy of Janie’s return was tinged with the unease and suspicion she harbored towards her former partner, the affluent Gray Stone.
I will Highly recommend this book. Grab your copy today and you will definitely enjoy reading it as much as I did. I eagerly consumed the pages of this book, only to find myself perched precariously on yet another cliffhanger. The anticipation for the next installment in this series is unbearable. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.
✨ Edited because I realized my mistake. This is absolutely a WTF just happened story! It is not a romance. It is ,however, very well written and a very emotional piece about life, family, and loss. It is filled with suspense, and there is a small element of romance, but dudes, this is a tragedy! Like full blown WTH moments like you would expect in a CW show or Downton Abbey. I’m still freaking shook and I’m not okay. This book is really good, but this is only something you read if you want shocking twists that rip your heart out.
Read this book about a month or so ago as a very early ARC for the author to review… and now I’m already begging her for a 3rd book because I NEED IT!
I’ll add a more detailed review as we get closer, but let me just tell ya… this is literally what romantic suspense book dreams are made of. This book has an amazing romance, friendship dynamics, small town… it’s all so good. But the plot??? The plot be plotting… wow.
I heard great things about the first book in this series so I jumped at the chance to read book two.
This book had me in tears several times, what an emotional rollercoaster. I love how strong the main female character Lizzie was, such a good character and one you could really relate to.
I don’t feel like I’ve missed out too much by not having read book one but I really want to read it now and cannot wait for book three to come out!
Wow. What a story. The first book was full of new beginnings, new love, new experiences. This second book? It was full of love, trust, and heartbreak. It was so raw and powerful as it went through multiple people's perspectives within the situation of Lizzie's biggest life altering challenge. This story contains so much love and heartbreak that the entire time I was on the edge of my seat close to tears. I truly felt connected to each and every character, and loved the continuation of the story.
"Keeping Janie" by S. R. Fabrico is a satisfying sequel to the award-winning novel "Call Her Janie," bringing readers back into the tumultuous world of Lizzie Levine in Southport, North Carolina. While the novel provides an engaging narrative, it occasionally stumbles in pacing, leaving readers wishing for more thrills and unexpected twists.
The story picks up with Lizzie's eagerly anticipated reunion with her daughter, Janie, promising a fresh start in Southport. However, beneath the surface of apparent bliss, a dark shadow looms as Lizzie's ex-boyfriend, the enigmatic billionaire Gray Stone. The tension builds as the narrative weaves through the intricate tapestry of wedding preparations, overshadowed by an impending custody battle that threatens to shatter their newfound happiness.
S.R. Fabrico skillfully crafts a narrative rich in secrets, lies, and deception, making for a gripping reading experience. The complexities of love and the dangers lurking in the shadows add layers to the story, creating an enthralling backdrop for the characters' emotional journeys. The author explores themes of trust, courage, and the haunting impact of the past, keeping readers invested in the outcome of Lizzie's quest for custody and a happily ever-after.
While the plot is interesting, the pacing can be sluggish with certain moments feeling drawn out. The narrative could benefit from a more dynamic rhythm and additional twists to elevate the suspense. Readers anticipating a rollercoaster of surprises may find themselves wishing for a bit more unpredictability.
Despite its pacing issues, "Keeping Janie" delivers on its promise of drama, intrigue, and emotional depth. Fans of the first book will appreciate the continuation of Lizzie's story, and new readers will find themselves immersed in a world where love, lies, and the courage to confront the past collide. S. R. Fabrico has crafted a worthy sequel, and while it may not reach the heights of its predecessor, it is a solid addition to the series.
"You were my greatest gift and my greatest blessing."
Gifts and blessings are not to be taken for granted but that's what I did while reading the heart rending all encompassing Keeping Janie by astounding tension filled romance suspense author S.R. Fabrico. I never saw the overwhelming mind blowing grief inducing bombshell that this daring uncompromising author scripted so stunningly that it left me flabbergasted and viscerally heartbroken.
Keeping Janie is Book 2 in The Southport romance suspense series. Book 1, Call Her Janie, introduces Lizzie who falls for her assh#le boss, billionaire Gray Stone, gets pregnant, pushed down a flight of stairs, has her baby taken and fights to get her life back.
In Book 2 Lizzie is in a better place, engaged to the sexy attentive Josh, hopeful in getting full custody of her daughter and loving Southport. Even Gray is doing his best to redeem himself and become a protective doting father. Unfortunately, mysterious photos, notes and phone calls have Lizzie on edge, making mistakes that will hurt her bid for full custody. Then Josh and Gray's alpha competitiveness leaves Lizzie fed up with both of them. But just when I thought I could finally breathe the unthinkable happens and this writer broke me.
I would advise reading Call Her Janie first to fully enjoy all of the exceptional storytelling. Then keep a box of tissues handy as you are forced into the 5 stages of grief. I'm still in denial while holding on to my anger. I don't see acceptance until the final book, Janie's Hope, is available; and I better get my freaking happily ever after! With what was probably the bravest and scariest plotting decision, Keeping Janie, should have everyone keeping an eye on risk taker author S.R. Fabrico.
I received a free copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
I have been anxiously awaiting this book since I turned the final page on the first installment of the Southport Series - Finding Janie - last year. I raced through that in one day - the first time I'd done that in forever, but not the last. I'd never even heard the term romantic suspense or thriller before. Am I a total convert now? Nope. But, I did just read a popular dark romance and kind of love it, so thanks, I guess?
This book blew my mind. I loved it. But it also absolutely broke my heart. I don't like reviews with spoilers, so I'm going to try to tell you about this book without them. So, if you can imagine the worst things happening to you, this book probably has it. But the author's writing is so good and so compelling it's like a heartbreaking train wreck barreling toward you and you can't stand to move. Her descriptions and emotional breadth are so real, and hold you in the moment.
The character growth is unbelievable. Two of the characters change so much, you'd almost be forgiven if you thought she forgot who was who while writing. But I think she's just so good at showing the ability of a child to change your life. If you have one, you understand. If you don't, they really do that. And she shows us how in multiple clear ways.
As a parent, as a partner, as a human - this book devastated me. So, of course, I highly recommend it! But check your trigger warnings!
Keeping janie by SR Fabrico. Southport series book 2. Reuniting with her daughter, Janie, should be the start of Lizzie's picture-perfect life. Behind the scenes, however, is a different matter. The happiness of having her daughter back is overshadowed by the fear and distrust of her ex-boyfriend, billionaire Gray Stone. Amidst the tapestry of wedding preparations, the custody fight looms. The story unfolds in a battleground of secrets, lies, and deception. In this gripping narrative, love and lies entwine, danger lurks in the shadows, and the courage to confront one's past becomes paramount. Can Lizzie gain custody of her daughter, marry the man she loves, and have her happily-ever-after, or will the mistakes of their past destroy them all? I did enjoy this book. Gripping read from the start. Couldn't put it down. Great story and plot. I liked Lizzie. I still don't trust Gray at all. I really didn't like Catalina at all. I didn't trust her. I didn't see that coming. Shock. Very emotional. I was close to tears at certain scenes. I am interested in how book three will turn out. I can't wait. Looking forward to the next book. Definitely recommend. 5*.
Holy fruit-looping moly, the suspense in this one. One heck of a plot twist, that will have you seeing double. This is my absolute favorite genre of romantic suspense. S. R. Fabrico knows exactly how to draw you in, it is so incredibly well written it seemed as if you were living it out yourself.
Janie is Lizzie‘s daughter, one she will do everything humanly possible to protect, and to keep. A mother‘s love knows no bounds! The two main male characters are, Gray, Janie’s rich father, and Josh Lizzie‘s boyfriend. With not having read the first book (kicking myself for that one) I’m so torn between the two men.
Listen y’all, I yelled, I cried, I kicked my feet, I had every emotion possible reading this book. What an incredible, gripping, page turning Book. Seriously y’all need to read this series, I cannot recommend it enough. I am anxiously awaiting the release of book 3. This would make one heck of a movie. I would be there opening night with my box of tissues in hand.
If you were a thriller/suspense, fan, stalker, fan, small town romance, or if you just love to read… This is the one!!
Thank you to the author and Book And Wine Lovers Promotions for the gifted book.
Keeping Janie is the second book in the Southport Series. I think you should read Call Her Janie first in order to really understand why Lizzie does not trust Gray, why Josh is jealous of Gray and why Lizzie is afraid of losing Janie.
Gray is a character you love to hate. He is still in love with Lizzie and wants nothing more than to be a part of Janie's life and become a family. I enjoyed watching his metamorphosis into a person everyone likes.
Janie and her fiancé Jose are struggling with Gray's presence in their lives, Josh's dad Len becoming seriously ill and the custody fight of Janie. I could not help but to hope this couple could survive all the turmoil that is happening.
I love the secondary characters that have good things happening in their lives that surround Lizzie and Josh to help them through their troubles. The author's writing has me feeling like I am a part of this beach town where everyone knows and helps everyone. There are some twists and an ending I did not see coming that brought me to tears. I am looking foward to the next book in this series.
This was such a good read! It is the 2nd one of the series, but you can read this without reading the first one, as the author does such a good job in covering what has happened in the first one.
The story is a thriller but has romance in it. The first novel covers Josh and Lizzies romance and is very much alive in this one. I don't want to say too much as i know i don't like spoilers in reviews. It was such a quick read as it keeps you enthralled and wanting to know what happens next. I could see some of the twists that were going to happen, but I couldn't put it down!
It is told from the perspective of the 3 main characters Lizzie, Josh, and Gray which was great to read as you could see the different perspectives and what the were thinking and with the events that were happening.
You can't help but feel the emotions of the characters throughout the book with the events they were going through, I wanted to shout at them, cry with them and give them a hug when things were going wrong.
All in all, I loved this and will be looking forward to the 3rd instalment of this series
Keeping Janie is the second book in S.R. Fabrico’s Southport Series. This is another well written, highly emotional addition to a remarkable series!! I highly recommend you read the first book, Call Her Janie because this one picks up where that one ends. This is Lizzie’s story, a tumultuous one that will shock you!! Ms. Fabrico takes you on a roller coaster ride with so many twist and turns. She grabs you from the start and you will not be able leave it go. Filled with secrets, lies, deception and drama……ohhhhh the drama!! The characters, some you will love and some you will not, continue to develop! I am still in major denial from that UNBELIEVABLE ending that I never saw coming!!! Have the tissues nearby, you will need them!! I cannot wait to see what Ms. Fabrico has in store for the next book!!
Thank you SRF Creations and S.R. Fabrico for another heartbreaking and intriguing story to read and review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own. #keepingjanie. #srfabrico. #srfcreations. #romanticsuspense #arc. #bookandwineloversbooktours
Book 2 of the Southport Series, Keeping Janie is a gorgeous book. Reuniting with her daughter, Janie, should be the start of Lizzie’s picture-perfect life. Behind the scenes, however, is a different matter. The happiness of having her daughter back is overshadowed by the fear and distrust of her ex-boyfriend, billionaire Gray Stone. Lizzie must gain custody of her daughter, marry the man she loves, and have her happily-ever-after, but fate says otherwise.
This book is phenomenal. The characters are brilliantly written and the emotions have been poured in bulk. The writing is easy to read and gripping, I turned page after page. It's effortlessly addictive. I must read the previous one and the next book in the series. The setting against the picturesque backdrop of Southport, North Carolina adds beauty to the book. Multiple POVs add depth to the story and give a cinematic feel. It's a good book full of twists and mentionable moments. It's engaging and intriguing, I have nothing but positive words about the book. It deserves more recognition and it's definitely recommended.
This book! I was enjoying it and thought I had it figured out and then came the twist I just wasn’t expecting and made the book something even better. This is a story of love and life and family, both blood and found, and trying to overcome obstacles to create the life of your dreams. I really like how even if the adults weren’t getting along they would work together and do whatever was necessary to protect Janie. Highly recommend this one! Lizzie is ready to move forward in her life, she is settled in Southport, North Carolina with family and friends, is about to marry Josh, and is getting closer to gaining custody of Janie. But her ex and Janie’s father Gray has moved to town and wants to be part of her life. Even though it seems like he is trying to do better things are difficult as Lizzie tries to navigate the tension between Gray and Josh. Gray’s wife is trying to make sure Lizzie never gets custody of Janie. Will Janie be granted custody and her happily ever after?
Thanks to the author and Love Book Tour for proving a copy for my honest review.
After reading the first book in this series last year, which ended on a cliffhanger and left me needing to know what was going to happen next. It was safe to say I’d been looking forward to jumping into this one!
Lizzie is still fighting for a way to keep Janie and is still going through the custody process. We see a different side to Gray in this book, I really didn’t like him in the first book but he did seem to have changed his ways. Although I was still fully unable to trust him.
Lizzie and Josh are just the cutest couple but they were having their ups and downs in this book. This book will have you feeling all the emotions.
As for that twist at the end, I totally didn’t see that coming! It blew my mind! I don’t think I’m over it now.
If you love a romantic suspense with a thriller aspect I recommend this series.
Thank you to Love Book Tours for having me on the tour and for my gifted ebook.
I absolutely loved Book one in this series and was dying to read Book two especially because Call Her Janie left us with many questions and a very impressive cliffhanger. Keeping Janie was another fantastic read that I enjoyed so much, Lizzie should finally be happy and content with her happily ever after but is instead facing a tough custody battle with the return of Janie's dad Gray, she faces so much confliction between her love & loyalty to Josh and the life they are building together with Janie and the reality that Gray will always be Janie's father. Just like Book one this was filled with suspense, twists and uncertainty, I really struggled to put it down fighting the urge to know what happens next. This was also an absolutely emotion packed read, my heart continually broke for Lizzie and the fear of losing Janie.
This is a beautifully well written book that will bring you on an emotional rollercoaster. I already cannot wait for Book Three.
Keeping Janie is the second book in the Southport Series where we see Lizzie Levine reunited with her daughter Janie.
The second book in the series is filled with love, friendship, and heartbreak. It is an emotional rollercoaster of a story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The story includes multiple POVs which weaves together a beautiful story of family and friendship, loss and love.
The variety of characters make it an interesting read. You’ll fall in love with the town of Southport and the people who live there. I loved watching the characters grow from the first book, especially Gray.
There were many unexpected twists throughout the book which had me hooked and made it difficult for me to put down. And that ending?? I can’t wait for the third book.
Overall, it’s a fast-paced, emotional read that you won’t want to put down!
Ok. So I loved the first book in the series, was so excited to start this one and can honestly say hand on heart I wasn’t expecting what happens to happen.
The story had made me cry on more than one occasion this time. The relationship between Lizzie and Josh just continues to blow me away with how well it is written. The whole cast of characters and the family dynamic between them is just so heartwarming.
I’m not going to give anything away. This is one you need to read and fully appreciate every single detail. The last few chapters though - did not see coming and I’m not sure how long it will take for me to process!
I cannot wait for the final book in the series. I need to know how this finished and what happens next. Another absolutely incredible book from the author. A must read for anyone who loves a good romance combined with a little bit of mystery and suspense.
I knew going into this that it was the second in the series. That said, I had no trouble picking up on past events. The author smoothly filled in those for me and I was able to get the gist of things.
I’m big on suspense and there was plenty of that. And I do enjoy some romance. There was some of that too. Josh and Lizzie were so good for each other. And Janie. She was exceptionally shown to me. All three of these characters felt genuine and getting each of their POVs made that even better.
This was what a call an emotional roller coaster of a read. There’s a whole lot to feel and that kept me turning the pages. Read this in two sittings and felt it all.
I plan to go back and read the first book and prepare myself for the third one. This one had a whopper of an ending.
I received a complimentary copy. My review is voluntarily given.
Wow, this was an exciting thriller y’all. The book was engaging from the start of the book to the ending. It is about a mother named Lizzie who has a young girl named Janie. From the previous book she was hurt by Catalina, her ex-boyfriend and father of Janie’s. But now she is back with her daughter in this book and the love of her life Josh. There are so many twists and turns in this book that I was amazed.
The author did a great job with the characters and Lizzie was a great character. She was very relatable to me as I am also a mom and I would do anything for my kids. I loved the ending of this book, it is fitting for the characters and also I would be interested to see what happens in the next book with Janie and her father.
I highly recommend this read to readers who love thrillers and family stories enmeshed into the books as well.
Reading the second installment of the Southport series feels like catching up with old friends. Lizzie and Janie have a strong mother daughter bond. Lizzie continues to have the support of her family and friends, and Josh is all in on this relationship. Life's curveballs keep coming though and the legal system is dragging its feet on recognizing Lizzie as Janie's legitimate mother. These delays are working in Catalina's deluded favor.
If you missed the first book you don't have to wait to read this one. The author fills in the gaps to make it possible to read this novel as a stand alone.
While the main characters are navigating their lives the author also develops the storylines of the secondary characters. Does this mean there will be a third installment to the series? I hope so.
This is the second book in the series and I recommend you read them in order to get the full story. In Keeping Janie, Lizzie is fighting for custody of her daughter, Janie. Can Lizzie trust her ex, Gray, and can Josh, the new man in her life, accept what is needed to have Janie and Lizzie in his life? This book is an emotional roller coaster. It is set in the same southern town I fell in love with in the first book and the same wonderful characters. Janie is a very loved little girl and that is central to this book. I can’t wait to read the next book.
"Keeping Jane" by SR Fabrico is an exciting, emotional story that explores the life of a Lizzie, from "Call Her Janine." Beautiful imagery setting in Southport, North Carolina. The series is absolutely amazing and so well written. Multifaceted characters, rollercoaster of suspense, engaging plot and ending , masterfully executed. The book was impossible to put down, filled with love, trust, and unexpected twists. A must-read, a page turner.
Keeping Janie was everything I thought it should be and more as book two in the Southport Series. It was filled with love, joy, suspense, and some humor. The story builds and builds with so many ups and downs. It lifts you up and then also shocks you. The characters are endearing and relatable. You really find yourself rooting for them. I also truly enjoyed the banter, it’s so good! I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Keeping Janie by S.R. Fabrico is the second book in the Southport Series. Stakes soar, the drama intensifies. I would recommend that you read book 1 Call Her Janie. Just to help get a feel for the characters and what they go through etc. However you do get a recap at the beginning of book 2 so if like me who hasn't read book 1 made it easier going into the book. This book for the most part, it is well paced. Keeping Janie crosses lots of genres, there is romance, suspense, there drama and tension aplenty and no doubt will have 4you queuing up for book three by the end of this one
