Unfortunately I just couldn't get into this book and had to dnf at the 15% mark. I felt I lacked a lot of information about the main character and therefore didn't feel connected to his story. It was fast paced but perhaps a little too quick to move through the motions and I felt my head was a left reeling from how quickly everything happened. With a bit more padding to develop the characters and a bit more editing I think it would be a great book for fans of action packed urban fantasy with a Jason Bourne-esque main character.

I received a f®€€ copy for an honest review.

Patryk has just suffered the devastating loss of his family when the god comes to him and offers him untold power. What happens next is a series of action-packed twists that you’ll be scrambling to keep up with as the past and present collide in unexpected ways.

If you like your thrillers with a side of fantasy, you’ll love this book. Fast paced as any video game and twice as addictive, Godwalker delivers massive entertainment and sets up a world parallel to ours but with a few important differences.

Will the god follow through on granting Patryk’s greatest desire or will he have to learn to live in the depths of loss and grief? Find out in Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny.

action packed

I felt like there as a lot happening in this book and it was difficult to keep up with the plot in the beginning. We jump from supernatural occurrence to fist fights and kidnapping, to rescuing a character and plotting to kill the president in only four chapters, so this book is definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s totally action packed, and Patryk, the Mc is a total action hero! The book is action heavy but not too much, so if you like fist fights, guns and explosions; this could be perfect for you. I found the scenes a bit choppy and sometimes difficult to understand the plot. Especially when there are POV changes with no introduction to the new character.

I thought of Patryk as a sort of Jason Bourne but with the added twist of a dark supernatural secret. I did feel he leant toward the ‘Gary Stu’ trope a little too much for my liking, but I think that was the point of the character.

But personally I like a bit more substance to a story than just action. And I like to really get to know the characters. I had no deep emotional connection to Patryk, and even through he has lost his wife and child, and we know the prospect of bringing them back from the dead is the reason for what he is doing, we don’t get to really feel his loss as a reader.

Over all I thought it was a good book. The story is told in first person, often detailing the main character’s thoughts and also diary entries. The writing had a nice flow and nicely edited, and there are some great twists and turns along the way, but I was disappointed by the ending. It wasn’t exactly a cliffhanger, but it ends with more story to tell, leaving the novel with an almost unfinished feel to it

No book can please every reader. So, if you love action and a fast paced story with engaging writing with a smidge of horror and thriller thrown in, you should probably give this a try.
If you prefer slower, more character driven plots, where the meat of the story is in character development, then this might not be what you’re looking for.

I thought the wiki reference page in the back of the book was a nice touch.

Patryck is an ex Secret intelligence corporation member (SIC)

What would you do for your family... would you make a deal with the Devil for their safe return...

You met Patryck in what seems to be a dreamstate when you see him bargaining for the return of his dead family.. his wife Marie and his daughter Joy.

The bargain is simple.. we will give you the ability so you can do our bidding until the debts are repaid and they will be returned to you..

But is it ever that easy ?
Follow Patyick and the story of coming into powers bestowed all the time dragging his childhood friend Carrie with on him and his journey to fulfil a bargain..

This book is very well written. The author leaves you no space to take a breath in between the action packed scences.. it also doesn't leave you wanted for emotions as you reach into Patrycks soul with diary extracts throughout the book. But it's also not the normally run of the mill supernatural thiller because of its unique written style..

The Wiki at the end of the boom was totally genius, my one comment.. id of LOVED this at the start of the book, so I could have referred to it while reading the story..

I really wish this app would let you rank differently ... I would rate this as a solid 4.5 🌟

I dont like to give spoilers when reviewing a book but I will say, anyone who reading thillers, likes action movies.. this books for you ❤️

Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny by Daniel Georgiev is the first book I’m reading by this author. When I read the blurb I found myself interested and wanted to know more. I found myself intrigued within the first few chapters, I needed to learn more about Patryk. As someone who has suffered the kind/form of grief he was experiencing; I was curious as to how he would handle the offer he was given. How his story would develop. (No spoilers from me!) This was to me a thriller mixed with fantasy and I do love a good fantasy read. I enjoyed the twists and action that happened throughout the chapters. The book was well written and the plot flowed well. There were moments to me where the conversation flow felt a bit off; but that didn’t detract from the overall reading experience. This was an enjoyable read and I’m planning on going and checking out anything else this author has written. If you’re a fantasy, thriller or action type of reader then I recommend checking out this book.

Fun action movie in the form of a novel

So, this book is definitely a bit of a rollercoaster! First of all, if you’re into books that hit the accelerator from the beginning and barely let you up for air, Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny is definitely the book for you.

The protagonist and main character, Patryk Heller, is on a mission to bring his family back from the dead, which gives the whole action-packed ride a bit of a heart. Already a top spy, he becomes a Godwalker and gains powers such as Compel (Like a Jedi mindtrick), Glitch (glimpse the future) , Cloak (invisible) and more. The supernatural and fantasy elements weave through the thriller base in ways that keep you hooked, wondering just how Patryk’s going to pull off his next impossible task.

Fast, furious, and pretty much an action movie in text form, it’s got plenty of charm, but fans of more character driven stories may not find what they are looking for in this book. However, if you enjoy a good entertaining story with plenty of action then I’d recommend this story for you.

This was my first experience with Daniel Georgiev as an author, and in this new novel of his, he was definitely successful in intricately weaving a tale of loss, redemption, and cosmic intrigue. It was refreshing to see an author pulling elements from not only action/sci-fi but also fantasy, thriller, and his own touch thrown in as well. Now, following the story you’re plunged into a world where divine powers intersect with human emotions, and because of that, for me, I really loved the narrative of Patryk grappling with the weight of his quests and the lure of resurrecting his family. The narrative further dove into complex moral dilemmas and the blurred lines between him possibly being able to obtain that which he wants more then anything, or what he may have to come to just accept. Accompanied by a diverse cast of characters, riveting challenges, divine interaction, and the true meaning of sacrifice, Ashes of Destiny really is a compelling blend of action, intrigue, and philosophical introspection that will keep you hooked. This authors passion for his work really shines through in his writing, it was intense, thought provoking, and overall really enjoyable. To me, to be a good author, you have to first be a storyteller & I believe this is exactly what Mr Georgiev is. So, if you’re searching for a new and refreshing read look no further! You won’t regret giving him and his story a shot. 🙂

What a unique book!! Get lost in this fast pace, action packed, page turner!! Daniel brought us a sci-fi/thriller that you will not want to put down! Agent Heller works for a corrupt government that is trying to kill him and his friends. With his family tragically taken from him. He with the help of his new gifts is trying to take down the SIC to get his family back.
I can’t wait to read the next book!!
Thank you Daniel for bringing us Godwalker!

This is like adventure, crime & mystery with a tinge of paranormal, Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny is my first book to read by Daniel Georgiev. The blurb of this book had me curious and interested to find out more, and honestly after reading, I was not left disappointed in this story.

Patryk Heller is an ex-agent who is dealing with grief over his wife & daughter when he is presented with an opportunity anyone who has lost a loved one would take, a chance to bring them back!

The story leaves you captivated, wondering how is this possible with many twist and turns that you don’t see coming. It keeps you guessing and I honestly can’t wait to read the next book that follows, to see what other tasks Patryk is to complete to be one step closer to his goal. To see the full circle of how this all happened, why it has to be him the uncover all these secrets.

I believe that this writer just blew me away with some talented writing. His main character has a rough edge to him that pushes the envelope with adversaries and his nemesis. I think though Patryk is at war with himself internally. His family is at the forefront of his mind day in and day out. I enjoyed read the action and entertainment.
Some of the book is not Sci-Fi/ fantasy and that is excellent with the plot. This an easy story to read and enjoy. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Even though the story had a decent plot, I couldn't really get into the story. I think that's because I personally didn't feel connected with the main character or any of the other characters. The interactions felt a bit clunky/robotic.

I really enjoyed this! This was a new genre for me as well as a new author and I was not disappointed! There is a lot of action and since it was a new genre to me it took me a minute to go back and forth from the sci Fi to the traditional fighting but I didn't take any stars away since it was more me being new to the genre vs a dislike. I really like Patryk and I thought the story itself was very unique! Highly recommend!

Hey there! So, let me tell you about this incredible book I just finished diving into. It's called "Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny," and man, it took me on one heck of a ride! Picture this: a world where tragedy, power, and morality collide. And at the heart of it all is Patryk Heller, an ex-elite agent grappling with the gut-wrenching loss of his family. As someone who's dealt with similar pain, I was totally hooked on Patryk's journey and how he navigates through it all.

Now, let's talk about the writing itself. The author? A total genius! They blend fantasy and sci-fi seamlessly, creating this immersive world that practically leaps off the page. Seriously, I felt like I was right there alongside Patryk the whole time. And oh boy, the plot twists? They'll keep you on the edge of your seat, I promise!

But what really blew me away were the themes explored in this book. We're talking power, sacrifice, redemption - all the heavy hitters. And the author doesn't hold back, oh no. They dive deep into these murky waters, challenging us readers to really think about our own beliefs and values.

In a nutshell, "Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny" is a rollercoaster of a thriller that you won't want to put down. Whether you're into fantasy, thrillers, or just a good ol' action-packed story, this book has got it all. Trust me, give it a read. You won't regret it

This was a break neck paced standalone, which is perfect if you want a one shot day reading material. Its category definitely is niched for those who like Lee Childs character Jack Reacher where he’s just this enigma of a badass. This leads us to we didn’t really get much depth from our characters, I had no mental connection to any of them? And the main character especially you want to be connected to and it was more arms length writing style from start to finish emotion wise.
The concept is sound, where in order to be granted the life of his family members back he’d have to complete tasks in which he gain ability to continue to be able to do as such. Which gave me the vibe from an anime story that is lost to me.
I wish it was a bit more “built”? Like the descriptions, but it could be I’m not as accustomed to actiony style novels and more so fantasy and science fiction where those tend to be beefjer with over abundance of descriptions and elaborate long game plots.
Pace was ok, in the aspect it kept moving non stop with no sit downs.

The writing style is told well, the authors new to the scene indie and super kind, I’m hopeful for new projects they release and to continue to see the growth.

Definitely give it a try as it’s a quick read and has a fun concept story for a ponder.

Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny is a furiously paced thriller with fantasy and sci-fi elements. The main character is driven by desperation to get back his dead family, and a god is talking to him, giving him tasks and superpowers – when he earns them.

Patryk Heller doesn’t believe what he’s trying to achieve is even possible, but he has nothing to lose, and that makes him very dangerous. On his impossible quest, he’s aided by a number of diverse and well-written characters, one is a childhood friend, another is a genius, and then there Markus. I can’t say much about Markus without spoilers. He was once a firefighter. And like Patryk, he has little to lose.

Part of the thrill of this novel, apart from the constant action and detailed fight scenes, is the tension inside the main character’s head. He’s traumatised. He’s flawed. He’s got cool gadgets like James Bond, and he kills people as casually as John Wick.

There are elements of mystery as well: Is any of this really happening or is the main character in an asylum somewhere hallucinating? What dark and evil secret poisons the SIC? Who was really responsible for the death of Marie and Joy Heller?

Nice book. Go read it.

A long review, spoilers

Godwalker, written by Daniel Georgiev Blentkills, is about a man called Patryk Heller. A guy who doesn’t believe in the supernatural and things like Gods doesn’t exist.. according to himself.

At some point, those thoughts are gone. He gets tasks he needs to fulfill and he doesn’t do that with his own strength.

The story is in a 1st person POV, what is actually a good choice for the storyline.

Patryk is really the hero in the book and I think he redeemed himself. In an emotional way. There’s a lot of action, which was nice as well.

The book has diary parts from Patryk, and I call that a type of marketing. Giving it a little bit more flavour to the story.

Besides the diary he also has an own wiki at the end of the book. Just to take the reader once more into the story by giving information. (I made those for my own books as well, so it's lovely to see. That other authors write them too).

Godwalker Ashes Of Destiny 1, is the first book in the series and I had to chance to be an ARC, thank you Daniel!

*The story contains, agressive scenes and has curse words in it.

Reading "Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny" felt akin to consuming a potent, caffeine-laden energy drink while dodging exploding grenades and bullets—an experience likely shared by the protagonist, ex-agent Patryk Heller, throughout the book.

Devastated by the loss of his wife and daughter, Patryk, in his despair, accepts an offer from a mysterious deity. Should he fulfill the tasks set by this mysterious entity, his family will be returned to him. Yet, due to the nature of these missions, the question becomes: if he reunites with his family, will they still recognize him as the husband and father they once loved? This is the question that haunts and fills Patryk with angst.

For fans of fast-paced spy thrillers infused with elements of sci-fi/fantasy, and filled with frenetic fight scenes and explosions, this book is for you. It would also make for a fun and exciting movie or video game.
Despite occasional rough patches, the story hooked me, rendering the last hundred or so pages impossible to put down. I look forward to the next in the series!

This book is a thrilling journey into a world where tragedy, power, and morality collide. From the very first page, I was drawn into the tumultuous life of Patryk Heller, an ex-elite agent grappling with the devastating loss of his family.
The book is a well-written and thoroughly engaging. Blentkills' skillful storytelling and compelling characters make this a must-read for fans of fantasy and speculative fiction alike.
Throughout the novel, Blentkills demonstrates a mastery of world-building, creating a rich and immersive setting that feels both familiar and fantastical.
What truly makes "Godwalker: Ashes of Destiny" shine, is its exploration of themes such as power, sacrifice, and the nature of redemption. Blentkills doesn't shy away from asking difficult questions or delving into the murky waters of morality. Instead, he tackles these issues head-on, forcing readers to confront their own beliefs and values.

This book struck a nice balance of crime action, supernatural thriller and emotional drama. It followed main character Patryk, already a top spy, and now given a supernatural mission by a deity in exchange for bringing his deceased wife and daughter, Marie and Joy, back to life. I really loved the Patryk’s diary chapters, which were short and emotionally punchy, being only a page long in between all the fast paced action. They also gave a great insight into Patryk’s motivation and despair while doing tasks to earn his ultimate reward of having his family back, and questioning the nature of good and evil in the process. Considering the rest of the book is very action-packed, I think it was a good decision on the author’s part to have short, poetic introspective diary chapters, particularly because Patryk was such a tough main character. I haven’t seen that done before in a fantasy action story, so kudos to Georgiev for giving me a different kind of read.
