The Wildflower

Lies. Betrayal. Loss.

They're all I know, see, and feel.
I don't know what is true, or a lie. I don't know who to believe or who what is real.
Broken and grieving I find refuge in an unlikely foe.
A man who claims to be my brother, who vows to protect me, and destroy those that hurt me.
But not even he can't protect me from the nightmare that is Drew Marshall.
Deranged. Psychotic. Immoral.
He broke my heart, and publicly humiliated me. Leaving me shattered and broken when I needed him most.
I should hate him, and I do, but a sick twisted part of me craves him as well.
The harder I fight to escape him, the deeper he digs his claws into me.
They say the truth will set you free, but ours didn't do that.
It locked us inside the cage, and tossed away the key.

Every bit as good as I had hoped!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔🤓😘😄🥰

The heroine: Maybel “Bel” Jacobs - she thought Drew felt something for her, she certainly had felt something for him. She has social anxiety and a mother that is sick with cancer. She attends Oakmount University where Drew is the star of the football team and big man on campus. She was recently betrayed, and her life was turned upside down in ways she never could have imagined.

The Hero: Andrew “Drew” Marshall - he is a wealthy kid from a starchy uptight family. He hates his abusive father but can’t get out from under his thumb. His father recently gave him some news that he couldn’t come to terms with. His family also is making him marry a girl he doesn’t want or like. His father gave him that news at the same time he announced the engagement to all his business associates and friends. The girl is the daughter of some guy his father plans to work with.

The Story: Drew was stuck. In order to protect Bel and his mother, he had to go along with what his father wanted. His father wasn’t just abusive, he nearly killed Drew. Even though Drew was an adult and a college football player no less, he held all the cards. He held Drew’s mothers well being in his hands and he was always guarded, so even when Drew did stand up to him, he had his guards hold Drew back and he even had them get their punches in. I couldn’t wait for this book to come out because I wanted to see his father get his due.

I was a bit upset at first when I saw that this book was over 500 pages, since I didn’t want to wait till the end for things to happen. So many secrets came out at the end of the last book, there was just a ton to unwrap in this book. I love that this book takes up directly after the events of the first book. I was hungry to get right back into this story and find out everything about some of the revelations, though they were slow to come. I didn’t like that at first, but it certainly kept things interesting.

I also wanted to get to know Drew’s friends a bit better in this book, and that is something we got to do, especially Sebastian. The character development is terrific in this book. Drew is psychotic and somewhat deviant, but Bel is perfect for him in so many ways. She is just as twisted as he is at times, and we really see that in this book.

“All I want is to be loved, but I don’t want just any type of love. I want the kind that awakens the soul, that’s obsessive, and scary, and filled with fire that you feel in every cell of your body.”

Drew’s father made a great villain in this book, I didn’t think he could get much worse than he was in the first book, but he sunk to new lows in this one. There were parts that were downright painful to read. I hated him as much as Drew did. He wasn’t one of those villains you love to hate, he was just one you really wanted to see get a bullet to the head (or something much more painful). I stayed up all night reading this one, and I can’t wait for Sebastian’s story.

That was about the point my sanity couldn’t take it anymore…

I had high hopes and my first warning sign was WHEN A MAJOR BLOODY PLOTHOLE BECAME THE PLOT AND NO-ONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT IT… talk about reviews gaslighting me into thinking this didn’t happen. I thought I was going crazy, I trawled through almost every review looking for it and no one was saying anything…

How does Sebastian have parents STANDING AT THE BAR in the end of Wallflower and then all of a sudden he’s the only heir and the head of the family and he lost a mother so it’s so hard on him too… like what happened to the two people BLATENTLY STANDING AT THE BAR??? Were they ghosts? I read over the quote multiple times in book one to ensure I wasn’t going insane…
I spot Lee’s parents on the other side of the room and Sebastian’s parents lingering near the bar. Not unusual for them. They’ll stay there all night, probably.
Like there is only one way to interpret that but then in book two…
When our grandfather died, I had no option but to step into line as the next heir. My place is here, managing the family affairs.
Like huh??? These two things do not line up… BUT STILL I PERSEVERED…
And ANOTHER BLOODY PLOTHOLE…
She threw her phone away because you kept texting her. I was happy to supply her with a brand-new one. One that doesn't have your number in it."
and then the very next chapter…
My phone pings, and I snatch it off the covers and stare down at the screen with a frown. It’s Drew. Again. I know I should block him. He deserves it. But honestly, I haven't had the heart to do it.
At least this one was mentioned in a review I saw when looking for the other plothole so I at least knew I wasn’t going crazy with this one…

Then there was just the stupid repetition of the push and pull between Drew and Bel. It was getting repetitive and I was getting more and more annoyed, which compounded on the fact that I was already frustrated this was just doomed to hell… Bel has no backbone and even if Drew is a literal DICK…. I expected her to make it up to her, not just go all Neanderthal “You are mine, we mate now”… and for someone who is so smart, she’s super dumb… like let me kiss a random guy knowing he’s going to suffer and have it taken out on him when he had no choice and she basically sexually assaulted him into the kiss…

I dunno I just can’t anymore ☹️

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I’m more excited to start this sequel that write the review for book 1….

Soooooooo you know I have high hopes for this being just as addicting and good!

I’m telling you, I didn’t know where this was going to go with some of the storyline. Yes, some of it we knew, but other parts really took me by surprise. Really love this duet and I’m looking forward to reading The Prey.

As reminder, I’m in the middle of a move to another state with my family. My reviews are not as detailed as they usually are, but I’m struggling to keep my head above water right now. I’m sorry to anyone this disappoints. I look forward to my life returning to normal when my free time is spent reading, not packing!!

Aghhh, finally, all the secrets are out! Or are they!??? *wink wink* I just can't wait for Sebs' book to find out more about ... well ... everything! 😂🫣🤭

I liked Bel and Drew in this book. Their story wrapped up nicely. She definitely caved too easily sometimes, but overall, it was clear that Drew was absolutely remorseful, but he just didn't know how to act, communicate, or behave as a normal person. Taking into consideration how he was raised, I can say his character had a nice growth.

These two are just perfect together 🩶. I wanted more of their time together as an official couple. But I'm sure we will get glimpses into their life in Sebs' book as well. 👀

Seb, Seb, Seb, I think I like him even more than I like Drew. I loved most of his interactions with Bel. Their banter was just perfect. 😂🩶🩶

The pacing was slowish at some moments, but I pushed through, and I'm not mad at all. Since the last 20% of the book was just 💣. Some twist I did not expect. I'm so happy Drew got his revenge, but not only him!! 🥳

The spice was spicing again. It was not overdone, I believe it was well balanced across the plot (there was a scene not on my liking, but surely it will be for a match with some other readers).

The book was more oriented on how Drew could discover all the secrets in his life, without losing the only people he loves (Bel and his mother), while getting out of his POS father's thumb, and getting back Bel's trust and love 🥹🥹🥹.

** small spoiler **
There's no cheating and no OW drama!! They are IT for each other!!
There's a small OM scene, though, where Bel kisses someone else to get back at Drew (he was nobody, a random guy). I actually liked that scene, out of character for Bel, but she was changing, trying to get back the reins of her life and show Drew how it is having someone else's hands on the person you love 🤭🤭.

⚠️ This is not a standalone. You need to read the first book since this is the second part of a duet.

❓️I still have questions about this secret society that they have. It's quite confusing because I can't completely and truly understand its purpose! 😂 it's some sort of rich type of frat or whatever. Buuuut, what I also want to say is that I would definitely read Aries and Lee's books, if the author will eventually write their stories, because they also sound interesting, based on the few glimpses we got of them, especially Lee 👀🥹🥹.

"“If I want to carry you around for the rest of my life, then I will. You’re my woman, Bel, and I’ll do whatever I please with you.”"
--- Drew, forever her caveman 😂😂

"Guilt is an emotion I’m still learning to wrap my head around. Many days, when I think of Bel and all that I’ve put her through, the guilt becomes overwhelming. I don’t deserve her, not at all, but now that she’s inside me, wrapped around my brain, pumping in my veins there’s no letting her go." 🥺🥺🥺

"I’ll make sure I have some fast food on standby.”
“Don’t try to butter me up.” I playfully grin at him.
“I have to have at least one form of protection against you.”
“And french fries is your weapon of choice?” He shrugs. “Yes. I’ll just toss them at you like grenades, and eventually, you’ll be so full you’ll forget about getting revenge.”"
--- I just adore Bel and Seb 🥰🥰

Someone plz tell me why I read this whole thing? Honestly shocked that I made it through. I almost gave up multiple times, but wanted to see it through to the end bc I was invested in Bel and Drew’s storyline. It really wasn’t great. Very repetitive and slow. Had to skim some of it bc I was so. bored.😴

I am surprised with how much I liked this duet. Every book in this series apparently is a duet. I liked the first one better because Bel had more bite and fight in her. This one she was more docile. Don’t get me wrong I wanted her to be with Drew right away because he didn’t deserve not to have her after everything he went through and how he was doing to protect her, when I say I wanted her like she was in the first book I mean I wanted her to be smarter and surprise everyone with careful planning and revenge of her own against Drew’s father.
Also miscommunication is the trope I despised the most, but seems like authors everywhere don’t know how to write a story with secrets and plot without the miscommunication. I don’t like how Sebastian was against Drew most of the book even though HE DAMN WELL KNEW what Drew did was to protect Bel against his father, he was aware the whole time that Drew really was a victim and loved Bel, so him being super protective of his sister was the best but also he could’ve just have a honest conversation with Drew to understand what was going on and Drew should’ve done the same. Besides that I also would’ve enjoy more participation from Lee and Aries, specially knowing that after Seb’s duet is Lee’s and lastly will be Aries.
Regardless the plot, secrets, manipulation, romance and smut in this book is as good as the first one. I am frothing at the mouth to start Seb’s book. 🔥🔥🔥

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Drew and Bel are not siblings and are not related in any way.

That being said the family dynamics are weird. I didn’t like this book, so if you just want to know the spoilers, I’ll break them down.

Bel’s Mom and Drew’s Dad (Lyle): Arranged to marry. Had one child, Sebastian. Lyle irreparably damaged Bel’s Mom’s health via poison.

Drew’s Mom (Victoria) and Drew’s Dad (Lyle): Unable to have biological children. Adopted Drew. Lyle began poisoning Victoria when Drew was a child.

Bel’s Mom and Unknown Father: Had a relationship that resulted in Bel.

Drew: Adopted. Family unknown.

Bel: Unknown father and half-sibling to Sebastian via her Mom.

Sebastian: Son of Lyle and Bel’s Mom. Raised by his grandfather as Bel’s mother fled the arranged marriage to Lyle. No relationship with his father or mother. Half-sibling to Bel via his Mom.

There. Those are the spoilers and the only interesting thing about this book. You’re welcome

after the first book I had so many questions - but the middle chunk of this book felt repetitive and boring, took too long for everything to be revealed. Was a good read, but found myself not enjoying it as thoroughly as the first.

telenovela, all the way.

After reading the first book I was sure this book would be about our beloved heroine actually sporting a little back bone but it’s not. That never happens. She gets pushed around by everyone. They keep secrets from her. They control her. They laughably call her tough or strong but she never actually does anything to warrant it.

This book reminds me of a telenovela in all the worst ways. Seriously over the top. And, so repetitive. My god, half the book could have been removed.
They just have the same inner dialogue chapter after chapter.

Seriously, I slogged through this because I wanted some questions answered. Ended up skimming the last 40% because I was tired of the repetitive stuff. In the end I’m not exactly sure who is related to whom. I don’t even care.

I’m not sure I’ll bother with the next book.

Ps. The maid that Sebastian cuts somehow changes names in the epilogue. Who cares.

DNF'd. The author keeps contradicting herself. In one scene, Sebastian is saying Bel got rid of her phone and not getting Drew's messages, and in the next, she still has her phone and does her best to ignore Drew's texts. If she goes on to explain that discrepancy later in the book, I guess I'll never know because I just cannot be bothered, and I do mean bothered, to find out.
Every corner I turn with this book feels like one hectic irrational mess after the other. What a huge disappointment this book series is when there was so much potential. I can respect the discipline it takes to write a book and appreciate the effort, but as a reader I struggle to comprehend the absurd journey we're expected to go on while reading. Are we supposed to just ignore all the inconsistencies in plot, character dialog, and character development? I don't see how when it completely pulls a discerning reader out of the story altogether. Perhaps this book would appeal to a youthful audience not looking for a meaningful or provocative experience, but for a thoughtful reader this is not even a decent read.

Dear Drew,
Never for one second did I think what you did was morally correct; don’t get it twisted, you’re an a$$ through and through. Your heart however, has never seen a morally gray light in its life. You care deeper for everyone else than you do yourself, and you’ve been through hell and back to do so. But that organ beating in your heart is pure love.
Do not get me started on how many OTHER ways there are to show someone you love them, besides slamming them into the bookshelves to f*ck some sense into them…yeah, imma have to disagree, even though I now have a new kink of being railed in a college library thanks to you. 😏
You’re only showing the love you received. My heart breaks for that.
Okay, on the flip side…
How f*cking hot is it to be chased repeatedly through the woods, only to have the best orgasms in your life?? Homie, how do I get my man to do this? Do I just kiss another man? Seems easy enough.
Annnd, the shower???? Holy sh!t, you said please! 🥰
Okay, that’s it. ~signed a satisfied for now fan.

Y’all I’m not kidding when I say I devoured this book in less than a day. I couldn’t put it down; and when I had to, I couldn’t focus. I needed to know.
Queen Beck has done it again, raising the bar for morallygrey men everywhere.
Drew is still blinking crimson, walking around sporting the finest of red flags; and still, I cried for him so many times throughout this book. I also wanted to st@b him with a rusty spork, but hey, it’s balance.
So many answers, so much new information leading into Sebastian’s book. The wait begins again.

This is one wild and crazy ride 😵‍💫 but a fun read. Drew’s dad was just downright evil and I was glad to see him get his just desserts.

I’m still super confused about all these family dynamics and have major questions about what I think I do understand, and hopefully it will become clear as the news books come out.

And this is my stop….. I’m getting off this train, I tried. I mean I realllly freaking tried. I repeatedly said I’m done but I continued book one and then made it halfway through book 2 but I genuinely can not.

First off. Book one had zero chemistry. Not one single time did I think man I can feel the vibes. And he freaking knocked her out and she had to get stitches. But that’s not the worst part, no the worst part is that when she started crying about the pain she felt and her having to get stitches, he licked her tears and said your tears make me hard?!!!! TF. I get it. I like Dark romance but this wasn’t romance this was just yuck.

And they should have done a spoiler alert for incest…. Like please don’t be dumping some wild kinks in there true or not if you don’t leave a trigger because that would have saved me a few days of trying to read these books.

Anyways, not for me. Might be for someone else. I don’t kink shame and I don’t think the author is a bad writer. But these characters just didn’t do anything for me. 😒🥴

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: obsessed boy
Angst: 😱😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Super dramatic conclusion to the duet! The Wildflower picks up exactly where The Wallflower left us with Bel devastated by the loss of her mother and Drew trying to convince her he "really didn't mean it" after his hurtful words. Despite knowing just how toxic their relationship is, Bel just can't seem to stay away from him. Lots of action, TONS of smexy times, and a dash of suspense. Lives are going to be blown wide open by a bunch of secrets that get uncovered - some of it good and some so bad it will leave complete devastation in its wake. This really had all the makings of a 5 star read for me, but for some reason I just wasn't connecting as much as I should have. I think everything was just too dramatic for me? Still a solid 4 and would recommend it for fans of the stalker trope.

I’m not sure if this Author was drunk when she wrote this disaster of a book. It seems there are elementary kids playing at adulthood with a sprinkle of high school kids acting like toddlers in other words what a massive disappointment read.

The story was a total fail the mother being poisoned by the dad who is reality is not Drew’s that but Bel’s brother who by the way is Sebastian who is also Drews best friend who is now a protector yet he never really cared. Then Bela mom is a victim of said father who was once married to bels mother but the. She ran away and blah blah blah..

Then you have bel who loves then hates drew and drew who hit Bel and in the process also broke her heart and skull lol this is comical..

The way I’m writing this is how you will read it a massive disastrous story the writing is terrible and story could have world yet it didn’t die to the lack of writing skills..

I couldn't wait to dive back into this world with Drew and his Wildflower. After that cliffhanger in book 1, I knew that this was going to be one wild ride.

We got to see a different side of Drew in this one. Don't get me wrong, he is still 1000% unhinged and obsessive, but we also get to see his heart learn to love again. There was absolutely nothing soft about him. He loves hard and he loves forever. Run, but you can't hide.

I adored Bel! She was like a phoenix rises from the ashes. She had so many people in her corner cheering her on. She found her backbone and wasn't afraid to take on the big bad wolf, with Drew by her side of course.

So many twists and turns... one revelation happened and then another was right around the corner. Soooo much yumminess!

Can't wait for Sebastian's book!

“I’m doing my best to be a gentleman, Bel.
I’m trying so hard to give you space and
time to heal because I know I f*cked up,
but my patience can only withstand so much.
You belong to me, and no amount of fighting or time will change that.”
“That’s where you’re wrong! Everything has changed.”

You know what I did today on my day off? NOT my 10001 errands and chores I needed to do.
Why? BECAUSE I READ THIS WHOLE BOOK IN ONE DAY!!!

“You want me as much as I want you. It’s twisted, and sick, and fucked up, but this is us, Flower. This is all we got…”

Drew is the definition of a morally, gray male character.
He's a the whole Rockefeller Plaza of red flags!
And you know what?
I wouldn't change one single thing about him.
We all know that he needed to do some MAJOR groveling. But even with the groveling and the stalking and the constant craziness, he kept being the monster and villain that Bel needed in her life.

The Wildflower-darkness

She knows him.
She knows who he is.
And their obsession for each other is next level insaneness.

The Wildflower-villain

“That sounds very psychotic.”
“Baby, I’m absolutely fucking crazy for you.”

This duet really, TRULY sucks you in. Drew and Bel's story was definitely not for the faint of heart. Drew is especially an aquired taste. He is obsessive, controlling, passionate, off his kilter, but overall, his feelings for Bel are intense and deep. Bel gave him sh*t and rightfully so. She was strongwilled and kept strong. Well, as strong as one can get when you have a man like Drew breathing down your neck. And sexy you up along the way.

The Wildflower-Flower

Although their story has come to a sort of "end", and the HEA puts a smile on one's face, the journey does not end here.

The Wildflower-run
Let's take a moment to MAJORLY gush about my favorite secondary character:
SEB-FRIGGIN-BASTIAN!!!

I KNEW there was something about Sebastian when he first appeared on scene. His demeanor and attitute was next dlevel dickish. We thought Drew was off the rails, I think Sebastian will be taking that crown in the next book.

Sebastian might appear kind and courteous, but everyone knows his true nature. His beast lingers just below the surface, waiting for the moment he can come out to play.

When I say he took his brotherly duties to heart, that boy TOOK. IT. TO. HEART. And along the way, he will go tearing yours out if you fck with his sister. This scene made me squeel!

“Do you know who I am?” The man's gaze widens, recognition taking place. He nods and then drops his hands. Sebastian gestures to Bel.
“Do you know who she is?” The man shakes his head.
“I thought she was your date or something. A hot piece of ass for the after-party.”
Seb's face shifts from perfectly neutral to downright deadly in an instant.
“This is my sister, Mr. Paccio. My. Sister.” There's so much menace in his tone that even I'm a little worried right now. Fear slowly trickles into the asshole's eyes. “Fuck.”
“Yeah, you got that right. Spread the word. Touch my sister, and I will remove your balls and feed them to you while she watches. Fuck with my family again, and it will be the last thing you do. Do you understand?”

It's Drew's observation of his best friend that has me salivating for Sebastian's book:

“If there’s one thing you need to know about Sebastian, it’s that he’s as cunning as he is handsome. He will cut you with the same hand he uses to wipe away your tears. I’ve known him since we were in grade school, and while I’m not afraid of him, I fully believe he would kill and burn the world to the ground to protect those he cares about.”

I LOVE BEL & DREW! There, I said it!
Even though there are bits and pieces that I cannot understand about this relationship & of course some dark romance parts, I absolutely loved the book.

And I loved how JL BECK developed their relationship. He was clearly obsessed with her in the 1st book, like a true psychopath, but he understands that he LOVES her and I find that beautiful. The things that cross his mind while thinking of her made me swoon - although, as I said, he has some serious issues. Yes, he is OBSESSED with her and you 100% get all those “touch her and die” vibes, but she’s ferocious as well and she craves him. Just as in any other dark romance novel, their love is twisted.

I love how he cares for her, I love how he goes the extra mile for her and viceversa. I love that he submits to her feelings. It just felt right that the book is not all about dark romance and what it usually entails (even if, trust me, the smut smutted 🌶️x4). I’m a sucker for happy endings and I needed to have one for them as well. You never know what’s around the corner with this type of novels.

Cannot wait for Seb’s POV. July can’t come fast enough!

I was not sure if I should give it 4 or 5*, but I’ll give it 5 because I felt all his emotions during the second part of the book. Loved the grovelling part. Psycho or not, Drew is perfect for her.

don’t know why I read the whole thing

Barely got through the first 30% was ready to DNF up until 60% but I wanted to know the twist. It was okay. Wish I would’ve dnf’d after 20%; the story could been cut by 200pages.
Spice is good, it’s a dark romance and has some taboo aspects in the beginning.

I don‘t know what I should say. This was just trash. I read other books by the author before and liked them so I‘m pretty upset that this was such a let down.
There literally happens nothing interesting besides Bel and Drew screwing and arguing. Like I said in my review from the first book: it was so unnecessary to write a duet. The whole plot would have easily fit in one fucking book.
In addition to that the character building is so bad (considering the author has over 900 pages available). I honestly don‘t understand why there were so many pages.
So sad cause I was looking forward to a good and dark bully romance. This book is dark, yes. But by far no romance. I wish we got to see Drew grovel and to finally treat Bel right but he stay‘s the toxic asshole and Maybel just accepts this. Their relationship is highly toxic and I don‘t think this is a successful bully romance. He urges her to sex which was hard to read and he didn‘t accept a no. I love possessive and red flag book men but not when they almost abuse their love interest.

After having read this one I’m pretty sure the reason the first book was such a failure for me is because the author wanted this to be a duet. She needed 400+ pages in the first book but didn’t actually have that much writing material so she decided to repetitive and circular to get there. I’m not impressed.

This was a different reading experience. There was still repetition and too much push and pull with the H and h but to a vastly lesser degree. H’s dad isn’t mentioned or meddling every other page like it should have been in the first book too. He may have been the villain in this story but he didn’t need to be so meddlesome in the first book, the sinister feeling of what he was up to behind the scenes was much more effective in this book and it let you enjoy the character and story more.

There’s no OM/OW drama in this one either which I appreciated. No cheating. They are broken up technically for a good bit of this book while the H works on getting back into h’s good graces. He’s pretty pushy but there’s a lot of push and pull with the heroine so it takes awhile.

Safety - this one is safer as there is no OW or OM drama. Nothing that could be perceived as cheating.

After reading the first book, I had so many questions. Especially after that cliffhanger. This book picks up right where the last book ended. This story had me on an emotional rollercoaster. So many things were happening. Things were getting revealed that made my jaw drop. I just love Bel and Drew. I wasn’t ready for the book to end. But I’m so excited for Sebastian’s book!

Holy hell… the last 15% has rendered me speechless! JL Beck did it again folks with another book that had so many twists, turns and secrets revealed that you are going to devour this one! I know The Wallflower left me speechless with that cliffhanger and I have been soooooo anxiously awaiting to see what would happen in The Wildflower and besties, this book did NOT disappoint!

I think it is important to note that you can NOT read this book without reading The Wallflower since this is a duet and nothing in this book will make sense without reading The Wallflower. With that being said The Wildflower picks up right where The Wallflower ends with Bel in the hospital. And this book will hit the ground running! There is just so much to unpack with this book but I don't want to give it away because I think you need to personally read this book but just know that YES all of your answers to your questions regarding the cliffhanger in the first book will happen. You will just get some of those answers sooner than others.

I just love Bel and Drew. Our girl Bel really suffered at the beginning of the book but to see her become and stronger woman for the hardship and really step into her own was so beautiful to see. And then we have Drew, yes he is still the Drew that we all love but we also see a very different side of him and it made me love him even more! But can we also talk about Sebastian taking the role of protective older brother like his life depended on it?!?! I love Sebastian and can't wait to unpack that whole cluster.

Just like The Wallflower, this book will have twists and so many secrets! So many things are revealed. The last 15% literally had me gasping and saying WTF over and over again with the events that transpired. Will this book leave with you some questions? Yes. But JL Beck said it was done on purpose and will be answered in Sebastian's book (which is the next book in the series) and after reading the book it makes sense why. Either way, I am in love with this book and it was the perfect way to end Bel and Drew's story! I just love these two and they both individually got the ending they so desperately deserve!

*I would like to say a HUGE thank you to JL Beck, Literally Yours PR and Candi Kane PR for allowing me to read The Wildflower as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.

“I don’t have to win you back, Flower. You’ve always been mine. I’d just prefer your forgiveness over anger, but in the end, I’ll take you however I can get you.”

I have mixed feelings about The Wildflower. There were some great parts, but the plot stalled in several places, making it hard to keep my attention. The first half dragged and was repetitive. It was only in the last half that things actually happened. When the suspense and danger ramped up, I found it hard to put the book down. I think Bel and Drew’s story could have been told with a good chunk removed.

I did like how Drew remained an unapologetic bastard. Anything else would have been entirely out of character. I knew he wasn’t going to be redeemed. I wasn’t looking for a debasing grovel, but I did want him to have genuine remorse for how he treated Bel. We got that.

I hated how easily Bel gave in to Drew. I was hoping for a good girl gone bad situation and instead got a weakling who never learned to stand up for herself. She was 100% dickmatized. Drew forced his way back into her life and wouldn’t accept no for an answer, and she was too needy to really mean it when she told him no. I kept wishing she would stop thinking about how much she loved submitting to him and pushed back instead.

This was a slower burn than book one in the duet, though there are some very kinky scenes.

The Wildflower ends in a HEA for Drew and Bel but leaves off with some loose ends to be tied up in future books in the series.
