Aldo is book one in the Men of the Falls duet by Melanie Moreland. This duet was such a surprise. I had no idea it was coming. And I absolutely love this first book. I happen to be a huge fan of morally gray heroes and can’t wait for you to meet Aldo and Roman. This first book is Aldo’s story!
Aldo Ricci is the right hand man and enforcer to Roman Costas. Roman and his brother Luca are the only two sons of a man who is a leader of the underworld. Aldo, Roman and Luca grew up together, Aldo’s father a driver for Roman’s father. Aldo and Roman were best friends and as they grew into adults, Aldo became his protector. They were alike in so many ways, both loners, both loyal to each other, both knowing they would never share anything with a woman other than just one night. Roman owned The Maple, a prosperous casino and hotel in Niagara Falls. And Aldo worked by his side. His life was seemingly set, until the day he interviewed the new waitress. Then everything turned upside down.
Violet Nelson had been living in Toronto and thought everything was going well, until the rug got pulled out from under her. Now she needs a new start and heard about The Maple. That it was a great place to work with fair wages. When she interviewed, she was definitely shocked at her physical reaction to her new boss. But that’s all it could be. A private fantasy. She needed this job.

I loved these two together. Aldo is a huge man but was Violet the least bit intimidated by him? No she was not. She gave as good as she got! Aldo was so frustrated at his lack of will regarding Violet. He couldn’t stay away from her, no matter how many times he told himself to.
Aldo, Roman and Luca are one hundred percent what you would call, morally gray. And I loved it. And I loved that all Violet saw was the man Aldo really was, the man who protected those he cared for. The man who would never hurt her. This was a perfect introduction to this world and now I can’t wait to read book two, Roman. I adore seeing this darker side of Melanie Moreland’s imagination. And I’m so excited for more!

I adored this.
I don't know what I was expecting from this novel. I have previously only read Small Town Romance from this author but I always enjoy a Mafia tale, so I was game. I was pleasantly rewarded with this romance between Aldo and Violet.
I found this romance to be a perfect balance of darkness and sweetness. I just found Aldo so endearing! His desire for Violet is a palpable thing and it brings out his protectiveness and wariness. Because he's never wanted a woman for more than the physical before. That is my favorite thing ever.
I really liked Violet and I loved how she didn't let life get her down. She may be starting from the bottom, in a new city, but she is a hard worker and she takes no crap. She made me laugh and she didn't take things too seriously but she was also strong and didn't get discouraged.
As the attraction between them grows, Violet keeps waiting for Aldo to make a move. She's not going to let him deny them both the pleasure she knows they can find. The little games they end up playing with each other were delightful and had me kicking my feet.
There was just a little bit of suspense and some situations that remind us we are in an organized crime romance. Yet it wasn't heavy handed and kept the book moving. At the end of the day I was here for Aldo and Violet and it kept the focus there.
This book got right to the point and didn't drag things out. It really reminded me of the Perfectly Imperfect series by Neva Altaj and I would recommend this to lovers of that series. I look forward to Roman's book coming soon.

Oh boy you are going to devour this story like Aldo devoured Vi. No shame with that, I stayed in bed all day reading them. It was a really good story. I needed like 5 more chapters about them but now I have Roman as my next read so I’m happy with that. You are going to love how Aldo cares, his protectiveness and his personality. I love everything about him. And Violet? She is perfect, the light of his darkness. I love how direct she is and how sure of herself she is. She is really strong and independent and I love how patient she is with him. And specially how she went for everything she wanted. I love Luca and Roman, and obviously I love Nonna V. Can’t wait to read more of them.
Update: the audiobook as all Melanie’s audiobooks was perfect. I love how Maxine brings Vi to life and John, Aldo’s. I love the energy and passion they put in this audiobook. Love it.

This is the first in a new duet by Melanie Moreland. Men of the Falls is a Canadian underworld protector romance set in Niagara Falls.
Down on her luck as the result of the actions of her good-for-nothing boyfriend & ex best friend. Vi is job hunting while trying to rebuild her life when she meets Aldo. Strong, taciturn loner, his best friend & his family are his only connection. As second in command to his best friend, he has everything he wants until Vi turns up for an
interview. She's entirely unexpected and completely alluring.
Another great read from Melanie. As someone who's not normally a fan of Mafia type romance, Melanie's way of doing this genre is a game changer. No overt violence or explicit/ gratuitous unaliving of people. Great stories, engaging characters, plots that are believable and more than just genre driven. I'm so excited to read the next part of this duet.

Book 1 in the Men of the Falls duet is everything I hoped it would be and more. This author always pens memorable heroes and heroines. Aldo definitely falls in to the category of a morally- gray character and I was all for it. Vi was a breath of fresh air. She was so independently strong and knew what she wanted. I’m in awe with the author’s ability to deliver such prose that makes you feel like you are there with them, watching their story unfold, feeling all the emotions. MM had definitely honed her craft and pens stories that finds a way into my heart and will always live rent-free in my soul. I look forward to the next book, Roman, in this duet.
Audiobook:
Maxine Mitchell and John Lane can do no wrong. They exceeded my expectations with their performance as Aldo and Vi. I could feel their chemistry through their cadence narrating the authors amazing story. Canadian Grey just got meaner! And Hotter!!
Reading Aldo and Vi's story is like eating an extremely fulfilling appetizer that you don't need the main course...but you're greedy so you're going to devour the main course anyway!!
These two are perfect for each other and their chemistry is nuclear.
Violet is not afraid to go after what she wants and Aldo doesn't have the strength to fight his attraction...not for long anyway. They are both stubborn and fiercely protective.
I feel like I need to say more but honestly, just read it. You'll be swooning over the Men of the Falls!
When you live 45 minutes away from where it all takes place, it makes you want to go to the casino to see if you can find your own Aldo!!
Highly Addicted. I need more! Thankfully, Roman is coming up.

This story was page turner, amazing characters that made you laugh, gasp and swoon.
Aldo is that big bear of a man. Scary on paper but a soft cinnamon roll when it comes to the heroine. Loyalty is his strongest trait and one I can get behind.
Vi - oh she is my girl crush. I love a lead who is strong but not stubborn. Who calls it like she sees it. And she sees that he falls first just needs to find a way to use his words.
This is book 1 of Men of the Falls duet. Aldo and Vi sets the tone and the pace for Roman to earn his HEA.
Cannot wait to see him fall!

I loved this story so much! Once again, Melanie has given me a story that immediately hooked me and one I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. Aldo is full of suspense, delicious sexual tension, plenty of heart, with the perfect amount of wit thrown in.
Aldo is a man who has nothing to give, or so he believes. But when Violet brings out certain feelings in him, he has no idea how to act. He’s never felt this way. I loved watching Aldo and his confusion at being drawn to her. It was quite adorable to see. And I love how he feels the need to walk by the diner, to just ‘pop in’ for a Reuben and a milkshake, or to check and see if she needs anything…as an employee, of course…mhmm.
I absolutely adored Violet. Girl crush perhaps? Yes, definitely. Not only is she strong and confident and independent and capable, but she’s not afraid to tell it like it is. She stands up to Aldo, and sometimes gives him a little sass. And she’ll put him in his place if need be. She is also super sweet under that strong exterior. The chemistry between her and Aldo was undeniable, it was electric.
The suspense in this story kept me on my toes. The tension between Aldo and Vi made me tingle with anticipation. And the love and passion was enough to make my kindle heat up…and me.
Morally gray hero, who’s protective and unknowingly swoony and giving and so very worthy - check. An intelligent and beautiful heroine who steals said hero’s heart without even trying? CHECK. Aldo and Vi were so perfect for each other, I just wanted to squeeze them both.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but it certainly wasn't a big, bad 6'5" giant teddy bear! Aldo is the second in command to a hotel & casino empire. His boss Roman is like a brother to him. He doesn't have the time or the desire to be in a relationship, but when he meets Violet, one of the new waitresses in one of the restaurants in the casino, he's immediately drawn to her. It isn't long before they start seeing each other. Both have feelings for the other, but it takes almost losing Violet before Aldo can admit that. Once he's in, he's all in, full stream ahead. This was a fast paced, easy to read, insta lust turned love very quickly, story, with a feisty, intelligent heroine and a over the top possessive hero who worships his girl. Great first book in a new series. Can't wait to see what comes next.

The first book in the Men of Falls duet by Melanie Moreland will definitely draw you in right from the get-go and keep you entertained right to the end. I couldn't get enough of Aldo; he was a spot-on morally-gray kind of guy. Vi was the perfect match for Aldo with her strength and the sweetness about her. I loved everything about this book and now I am eager for Roman, the second book of this duet. Aldo by Melanie Moreland is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

My God Aldo is 🥵 his possessive but sweet nature made this story amazing. I loved vi and her independence yet that it was not so much that she refused any help. The ending felt s little rushed but as is usually the case with Mafia romances. I can not wait to see more of Aldo and vi in Roman.

I loved both characters but specially I loved Vi. She is strong and she goes for what she wants, she wasn’t waiting for him to make the first move and I loved that.
Aldo is sweet and lovely with this bad boy look that is very sexy.

Aldo is the darkest of the night and Violet is the sunlight in the day.
that’s how i would describe these two.
i started and finished this book in one sitting.. and by sitting i mean laying in bed when i should have been sleeping.
there’s a spark between these two from the moment they meet and the forced proximity of working together.. ouufff😮💨
I enjoyed this story and these characters a lot.
ALSO WE LOVE A CANADA SETTING FOR A STORY👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

i started and finished this book in one sitting.. and by sitting i mean laying in bed when i should have been sleeping.
there’s a spark between these two from the moment they meet and the forced proximity of working together.. ouufff😮💨
I enjoyed this story and these characters a lot.

Aldo was a great read.
Also met Violet when she interviewed for a job at the casino where he was a second to his friend/the owner and boss Roman.
His attraction to Vi is instant, and he felt drawn to her. He found he could not stay away from her.
Vi is instantly attracted to Aldo as well. She knows what she wants, and she tempts him.
She worries he can't do long term. But when Aldo loses his mind when Vi's safety is threatened, he will do everything he can to protect her.
It was hot, sweet, dangerous and a little funny. Aldo and Vi are perfect for each other.
I'm looking forward to reading Roman.

What magic spell has Melanie Moreland unleashed that has me falling for a hero who asks this?!
There are so many layers to Aldo and I’m here for all of them. He’s protective, fierce and serious. He’s loyal. And with Violet he’s affectionate, vulnerable and deliciously dirty. I loved how his character evolved with her in his life.
Violet is an amazing heroine; she is resilient and hardworking as she deals with what life has dealt her. I love how she is with Aldo - her sass, banter and honesty. She throws him off kilter at the same time as balancing him out.
Melanie Moreland has their relationship progressing in a way that suits their characters perfectly.
I love the relationships that Aldo and Violet each have with Roman; together they make up a wonderful found family.
The setting for this series is opulent and decadent but it also has some dark sides. While Aldo and Roman are main players in the Niagara Falls underworld, Melanie Moreland has written this book on the milder side of that trope and it was just right for me.
I am very excited for the rest of this series.

Aldo by Melanie Moreland is a romantic suspense. It's the first book from the "Men of the Falls" series.
This is such a beautiful story. It has an amazing plot, easy to follow, and has a dual POV. The descriptions are very detailed which makes it easy to visualize each scene happening. It starts by explaining who the characters are, and a bit about their pasts and their life choices. After that starts the romance between Aldo and Violet which is my favorite part of the book. I loved how alluring she was and the way she went after him. They were perfect together, in and out of bed.
Then the angsty part was what they needed to face the reality. All the emotions came pouring out of them.
Aldo's story was a great reading experience at a moment when I needed it.
If you need a good romance with a bit of suspense then you should read this one. I will rate it with 5 stars.

I think I had Melanie Moreland’s other series in my head and it really detracted from my enjoyment here. I think this book was just average. I didn’t love it or hate it, I’m just kind of indifferent.
Aldo is an enforcer and right hand man for his friend Roman. He gets the final say on the hiring for the casino they own and run. When Violet interviews for a job, he is instantly attracted. However, he doesn’t feel he can be with an employee. Violet and Aldo can’t resist their attraction for long.
It was just okay. I liked Aldo but I didn’t understand his resistance toward his feelings. I would have preferred if Violet was the resistant one especially since it would have made more sense with her relationship history. Speaking of her relationship history, I would have really liked a dramatic run-in with her thieving ex boyfriend.
I liked the relationship that Violet and Aldo had but I found myself wanting more. I didn’t feel particularly invested or emotional when it came to these characters. The author says that this wasn’t intended to be a book when she started out and I felt like I could tell that her heart wasn’t in the writing.

She has been dealt some sh1tty hands recently and this job was a fresh start to life. That made Aldo even more possessive and protective but he downplayed it all the time. Trying to pass his actions as just of a concerned employer. But Violet is smart and sassy and she doesn't take anyone's bullsh1t, not even from the man who melts her heart and panties. They are forbidden but their explosive chemistry is hard to resist. Violet is definitely not a clinging person. She resisted hard when Aldo kept on doing things to make her life better. But she drew a line when Aldo tried to push her away as he was scared of falling in love. Then there is the element of an angry customer trying to hurt Violet that went too far and brought the reality crashing down on Aldo. The fear, the desperation and the guilt were enough for him to accept that he loves Violet deeply. She is the kind of strong and fierce woman he needed in his lonely and dangerous life! She didn't run away from his darkness. She craved his bossy sinful love! And now I cannot wait for Roman's story because man..he is going to fall even harder!

Autorku Melanie Moreland jsem si oblíbila díky její Vested Interested ABC Corp sérii nebo Vytočenému na Maxx. Z toho důvodu mě ani její mafiánská duologie nenechala chladnout a sáhla jsem po ní. Avšak po přečtení nastalo zklamání – kde je mafie? proč ta insta love? 💛
Aldův nejlepší král je podsvětí Niagara Falls. A Aldo je jeho pravá ruku. Cestu mu zkříží nová prostořeká servírka Violet Nelson, do které se na první pohled zamiluje. 💛
Aldo je klasický týpek – nemůžu se do ní zamilovat, nemám ji co nabídnout, nejsem pro ni dost dobrý – ale vlastně ji naprosto propadne a ochraňuje ji zuby nehty.💛
No a já jim to prostě nějak nežrala – tu jejich instantní lásku – z nuly na 100. Melanie má taková slaďáky často, ale tady jsem jim to prostě nevěřila a vlastně mě tím pádem ani příběh moc nebavil.
Čekala jsem také více mafiánštiny a tu jsem tam viděla tak trochu z helikoptéry. Příběh je za mě prostě až moc průměrný, ale zase na druhou stranu to byla fajnová odpočinkovka, kterou čtenář taky občas potřebuje. Možná knize trochu ublížil překlad nevím, ale je to prostě 3 ⭐️ s odřenýma ušima.
Kdo má rád čtení od Melanie Moreland tak určitě doporučuju sáhnout i po této duologii, jen mě tenhle díl zrovna nesedlo. To však neznamená, že nepřečtu i ten další díl o Romanovi – královi Niagara Falls podsvětí, tam už se třeba o té mafii dozvíme víc. 💛
