Veil of Shadows #9

Shadows of Destiny

Rate this book
A journey of darkness and Will Jed defy fate to save Shay, or succumb to his own ruin?

If looks could kill, Alastor would raze all of Hell in retribution. He didn’t appreciate being sent home in a blast of light with everything he’d built destroyed, and he’s going to do everything in his power to hunt down the half-breed who did it.

For Jed and Shay, Hell is filled with challenges, from hiding a stolen Angel baby to being a body double for the Queen, these two have their work cut out for them. Yet, beneath the surface, Jed wrestles with the guilt of upending Shay's once-normal existence.

Jed and Shay must navigate a perilous path, where the line between savior and destroyer blurs, and the consequences of their choices echo through the infernal corridors.

I really don't understand the point of these books. We don't get a new perspective from Jed and Shay at all? I had hoped we would learn more about them, their relationship, and how they interact with Noah/Nightingale/Meg...but instead all the big parts are literally just copy and pasted while the in between scenes are hardly there at all. I'm incapable of DNFing a series/book ...this is the closest I've come.

Nero is the only reason I'm going to continue this series

Shadows of Destiny is the ninth book in the Veil of Shadows series where readers rejoin Jed and Shay who are now in Hell and caring for Thrush an angel baby, a surprise turn of events indeed.

Alastor who was banished from the Earthen plane during there last encounter is out for retribution and is on the trail of the main characters. What a boon for him when he discovers he won’t have to look far.

This supernatural spellbinder of action, adventure, and suspense continues to engage and thrill with writing that remains well crafted, and world building beyond imaginative.

Another fascinating addition to the timeline.

Jed and Shay's adventure through all of this craziness just keeps more interesting and action packed.
So many new developments, it is like a tilt a whirl, and I love every page. The Demons have codes that they stick to and many are better than the humans in this story. Of course there is a very evil demon coming after Shay. but he is not there yet. Nero's transformation is awe inspiring! Jed and Shay get closer and this story is amazing! I Did Love It!!! No Spoilers! I Highly recommend as a GREAT READ!!!
I received an ARC and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose To And I can barely stand to wait for more of the exciting world!!!

This is the book that joins the earlier characters to Jed and Shay's story. I thought this book moved crazy fast and felt like a deleted scenes book. Those of us who started with Shay's story will be caught up by the end of the book. It is a wealth of information. The world building gives us a great image of how hell works and the players are easily imagined. I received this ARC from Booksirens and am happy to leave this review.

Who would have thought demons could be more honuorable than humans?
So many things occur in this book that you will literally turn pages without taking a breath.
Who needs to breathe anyway, right?
