A MUST read for anyone and everyone!
My notes on the book:
-The feminist agenda damaged the roles of not just women,but men greatly.
-Men supposed to basically work and shut up.
-Non-existent in the home.
-Not in just their homes, but in their own lives.
-Substance abuse helps to cope with everyday life stress.
-Don't know what to do with themselves have a NEED to zone out, with out a real role/purpose.
-High suicide and crime rates among men.
-Men basically ignored, given up on and pushed aside.
-Men being feminized
-Trained to respond to people and situations in ways that are more historically female behavior patterns.
-Would rather let family fall apart than confront what's destroying it.
-No backbones
-Culture of gender blending and continual blurring of traditional gender expectations.
-Personality crisis to become what they're NOT
-National unisex mentality
-Emasculation in the guise of bringing "equality" will cause further confusion and destruction of the American man and family.
-Fake pride/manhood
-Avoid conflict/cowardly
-The colonial American man considered spiritual leadership in the family to be of primary importance.
-Colonial men made theology an important part of their lives.
-Lack of male spiritual leadership today
-They sharpened their faith by courageous public debate.
-Prayer is NEVER a substitute for solid New Testament debate and instruction
-True masculinity
-Colonial men had a high view of women
-Marriage to be managed as a privilege not as slavery.
-Not a license to abuse their wives/children
-Men are no longer running households so the lives of the family are unhappy/depressed and in turn the men are also.
-Men have grown afraid to express their love to their spouses.
-Young men & boys no longer learn to work and act like their fathers.
-America has a preoccupation with independence and individual fulfillment.
-causes estrangement and loneliness for the family/wives/children.
-The corruption of unaccountability.
-With the Industrial revolution men no longer ran their homes.
-Barely home and didn't spend times with their families.
-God expelled from government affairs.
-Government thought/thinks didn't/don't need God and were/are doing great on their own.
-Became slaves to politics
-Politics triumphed over Christian Theology
-Christian commitment was thoroughly divorced from masculinity.
-The American Dream and the forsaking of God.
-Theology was replaced by politics and commerce as the "hot topic."
-No longer manly to discuss religion.
-American Christianity began to focus almost exclusively on a feminine and sentimental Jesus.
-Women are left alone in a more secluded and monotonous household.
-No longer her husband's partner, but an economic parasite.
-More women than men responded to early revival messages.
-Christian women inadvertently took upon themselves spiritual head of the home.
-Men began submitting to the force of feminine spirituality.
-Men looked to women for the support of their spiritual endeavors.
-Women had become the moral directors of society.
-Men made a deliberate decision to create new roles for themselves and their wives that would excuse them from the responsibilities of moral guidance for home and society.
-Women=moral conscience of America instead of men.
-Women were elevated to a position of moral supremacy over men.
-Men would rule the workplace and women the home,school and church.
-Men had no time left for their families.
-Wives took over leadership of the home
-Men deserted their homes and families.
-Men were displaced as the educators of American children.
-Men became spiritually dependent upon women.
-The absentee father is the curse of our day,it is a national plague.
-Today's children are the first generation in our country's history who thinks divorce and separation are a normal part of family life.
-MANY more children show symptoms of stress
-Have become emotional misfits
-Divorce rates among Christians is gaining rapidly on the national average.
-Real masculinity involves willingness to remain committed to loved ones no matter what circumstance arises
-Self-absorbed,cowardly men.
-Husbands lack personal contact with their wives and children.
-There physically, but not emotionally or spiritually.
-Men swap paternal responsibility for personal pleasure.
-They think they work harder than their wives
-Tune out their children.
-Schools prepare boys to be passive fathers.
-Seldom initiate conversation.
-He would rather be served than serve his families needs.
-Job didn't see his children as an intrusion into the pursuit of his personal pleasure.
-Real men get angry over injustice for the sake of OTHERS.
-Mercy and justice meet together in a real man.
-If a man does not pursue wisdom,mercy and justice what is there to respect???
-Men today are making it almost impossible for women to respect them!
-Real men bring order,peace and identity to their families.
-Pursuit of God is a mark of a real man.
-Responsible fathers are America's greatest need!
-The prophet Malachi speaks of the problem of irresponsible fathers.
-Men must turn back to knowing God as Father!
-He is the ultimate reason men should behave responsibly.
-They MUST turn from self-serving,unaccountable behavior; bow their heads to God the Father.
-Theology is a manly discipline.
-Real men are to be heads of their families.
-There is confusion between a person's values and a person's function.
-The biblically prescribed headship of the husband in human families has NOTHING to do with men being of greater worth than women,for they are not.
-The issue is the function God has assigned to each.
-Failure to differentiate between value and function.
-Jesus has no less value because he has a different function.
-Just as a real man is to be the head of his family, he is also to be under the authority himself!
-Of leaders of the church
-A patriarchal system made sure men were accountable for how they treated women.
-Independent men beget independent children who many times turn on them.
-Men who are able to function peacefully with a sense of accountability produce children who desire to please them.
-Apart from Christ men will not be adequate fathers.
-Earthly fathers must follow the example of God by making the first move.
-Initiate acts of love toward their wives,children and friends.
-Love is their responsibility to initiate.
-Husbands are commanded to love their wives unconditionally,but not so for wives towards their husbands.
-They are to be the initiators of love as their patriarchal role.
-The constant need to be on the receiving end of love is one way to check whether a man has been feminized or not.
-Real men commit themselves to carry the pain of others instead of running away and hiding.
-Men are putting themselves first!
-The involvement of men seems predicated on the amount of self-fulfillment that an activity might return to them.
-Hesitancy to sacrifice time and personal pleasure.
-Spirit of sacrifice lies in godly men throughout history.
-Sacrifice for righteousness sake was viewed as a normal part of being a man.
-A man's life and his free time revolved around what was best for his family until the day he died.
-Another mark of authentic manhood is zeal.
-Father's must declare themselves models for their sons.
-Educators at all levels must make the study of masculinity a subject that is given the same attention as women's studies.
-Boys need men Sunday school teachers!
-Men must commit themselves to following the heavenly Father.
-Men have only 2 alternatives by which to walk: Vice or virtue.
-Happiness shouldn't become an idol!

-Young girls with absent fathers become desperate for male attention and approval.
