A Universally Fantastic Monster Mash
The finale of the Grimm Cove series - for now - brings together all the events of the previous books in the Paranormal Women's Fiction in a whirlwind of action, romance, humour and reveals.
It's been a long, satisfying journey meeting the women of Grimm Cove who travelled the world but through the mysteries of fate ended up back where they belonged, to fight evil and find their mates.
In this one, we pick up the story of Jonathan Harker (yes, that one) and Willa Murray.
Whilst Harker is the original lawyer who once travelled to Castle Dracula, Willa and her twin Mina are descendants of Wilhelmina Murray, who was actually Jonathan's closest friend, not his beloved.
There's an awful lot that has happened in this series, but this can be read as an enjoyable standalone, with lots of flashbacks and references to fill in the gaps.
We first meet Willa and Mina as eighteen year old orphaned twins, being taken away to Romania, apparently on holiday, before they start their term at Grimm University.
Grabbing their luggage at the airport, the girls are attacked by a man in a white van who tries to kidnap Willa.
Jonathan - now a wolf shifter - is also at the airport and dives in to protect them with his partner Dwayne, in the process losing his pocket watch, but finding an old journal and a silver cross. Willa is grateful for the save, and if she hadn't broken her glasses, feels sure that he would be a dish, given his sexy English accent.
I won't say much about the plot now, other than it includes all manner of supernatural creatures, a smorgasbord of universal monsters, lots of characters from the original novel Dracula and a lot of action and humour.
When we reach modern day Grimm Cove, fate will reunite all of the parties to fight the good fight.
We get scenes with Marcy, Bram's mate, who is my absolute favourite woman of Grimm Cove, along with her squirrel familiar Burgess, who loves to cause trouble.
It's romantic, funny, sweet, emotional and absolutely wonderful.
And the best thing? Roth has promised us time at Grimm University with the younger generation of monsters and slayers.
Terrific stuff.
