RIKER’S THE PROTOCOL

Edited by Monique Happy Editorial Services
100,000 words

After issuing orders to have low-yield nuclear weapons deployed against the rapidly merging zombie mega-herds, the President of the United States, holed up in Raven Rock Mountain Complex in Pennsylvania with the remnants of his cabinet, inexplicably goes dark. With the Pentagon abandoned weeks prior and no Joint Chiefs of Staff left alive to guide the fractured military, the Ronin Protocol, a component of the government’s end-of-the-world Continuity of Operations Plan, is automatically enacted.

Following a harrowing journey from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Las Vegas, Nevada to answer a long-distance plea for help, Army veteran Lee Riker, his younger sister Tara, Steven “Steve-O” Piontek, and their Trinity House companions are offered sanctuary from the undead hordes inside Frenchman Mountain Complex—a relic of the Cold War.

When the commander of Frenchman Mountain Complex informs Riker of his intention to move the entire operation to a top-secret military base whose location he won’t divulge, and conscripts Riker to be his personal driver, Riker gathers the others and they immediately begin planning their escape.

With tons of rock over their heads and steel blast doors standing between them and freedom, will our group ever again see the light of day?

If they somehow manage to escape the secure bunker, standing between them and the safety of Trinity House are hundreds of miles of zombie-infested southwest desert, factions of splintered military reported to be fighting each other over territory, and scattered pockets of humanity trying to protect their own turf.

With the odds of survival stacked against them, will the group survive one more day in the zombie apocalypse?

Come along and find out!

Low yield nuclear weapons were used and with no government leading some fractured military groups they are doing what they want. Riker, Tara, Steve-O, Lia, Shorty and Vern are offered sanctuary inside Frenchman Mountain Complex but soon learn Capt. "Conk" Conklin has plans for them that Riker and the group are in no way going to allow so plans to escape are made. Can they succeed getting through hundreds of miles of zombie infested desert, through other factions of a splintered military and other survivors who are just trying to stay alive, reach Trinity House and relative safety? There are some sad deaths but also some surprising twists in this character driven, emotionally charged tale by Chesser. I highly recommend this series and others by Shawn Chesser as he tells a great yarn.

Lasting first.

As usual this writer brings a good tale and continues a powerful survival story through a few more days. Though it seems like they are moving through weeks of struggle and fighting every inch of the way its less than a week from leaving the bunker for Ryker,Tara Shorty and Vern and Stevo -o to making it home to Trinity. The new to us entrance of Grout, love that name, and his adventures saving a celebrity and her sidekick weave into the story to replace the loss of beloved characters. Follow along and enjoy the ride in the Zombie Apocalypse that is in another Universe of Mr. Cheese d's imagination.

The Protocol by Shawn Chesser is a gripping, action-packed thriller set in a brutal zombie apocalypse. Following Army veteran Lee Riker and his unlikely companions—a barista and a man with Down syndrome—the story unfolds as they seek refuge in a Cold War-era bunker. However, when the facility’s commander plans a secretive relocation, Riker and his group must orchestrate a daring escape. With nuclear threats, fractured military factions, and relentless undead hordes, survival is anything but certain. Fast-paced and intense, The Protocol delivers suspense, high-stakes action, and a compelling fight for freedom in a world overrun by chaos.

Overall, the whole series was a good read. My only fault with it was the extreme detailing of interactions and some of their daily execution. I know this could have been limited because the the last few chapters felt rushed and felt wrapped up quickly. Maybe there will be another book in the series? Other than that. The author had a good story to tell and the action and interactions were engaging.

Great continuation of River's Apocalypse.

The only thing bad about Shawn Chesser books is that once I start reading, I can't stop until the end. Tons of action and so many close calls that keep you hanging on till the finish. Of you have never read a Shawn Chesser book, this is a great series to get you started, along with his STZA (Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse) series.

the best one yet

A very gritty and heart wrenching story, and I’m still waiting for Riker’s “real MOS” to be revealed. It’s almost too good to be true that a good zombie book has been written and the main character is not a Tier-1 guy but is in fact a fairly regular guy who’s just resourceful and quick witted. Bravo, sir. Bravo.

Great

Shawn keeps doing it book after book. His form of storytelling is
engaging and entertaining. He takes a genre that’s crowded with authors and stands above them every time. His characters are believable and his stories are superb. Bravo.

Cool

This installment of the Rikers Apocalypse series is full of action. In addition to the zombies there are quite a few human bad guys as well. Fortunately there are some people willing to help others even in hard times.

Good

Good book. I enjoyed reading the whole series. Sometimes the writing style pulled me out of the book. I plan to read the next book in the series when it becomes available.
