From the ashes of war emerges a fiery love. Secrets of Socendor, Book 3 Already despised as a half-elf, half-human lithing, exiled king Braen must face the destruction he has wrought. By resurrecting his father, he has unleashed a terrible evil upon the land. His only hope to save his people is to join forces with elves and humans, his traditional enemies. Which makes his undeniable desire for the human captain Jéan Bastien intolerable. With the land of Socendor’s fate hanging in the balance, dealing with his lust for Braen is the last thing Jéan needs. Not only because Braen’s a lithing, but because Jéan has never before desired a man. Yet their magnetic attraction draws them together even as war drives them apart. Time has run out for the people of Socendor. Led by General Kalen Ysindroc, Braen’s half brother, and his elven lover, wizard Micheil Thierauf, the united band of elves, lithings, and men march on Sunderlind, though their numbers are too few. As dragons darken the skies and arrows fly, love and loyalty must win the day…or darkness will reign forever. This book contains explicit scenes of love between men, some tender, some not; bloody, frightening warfare; heartbreak…and hope.

I liked the first two books in this series better. The ending final battle seemed too easy. The MCs were on the verge of war(within the hour) and they were making out? This series was so good at the beginning. I would really love it if the author rewrote this last book. It seems the interest to write it was lost and she just wanted to get it done. I know she has great talent, I saw it in the first two books of this series.
I'm disappointed. The war was too easily won (I dunno why the characters fussed about it so much). I still dunno the faith of king and queen who'd gone missing in #book2 (were they truly dead??) and they decided to put new king on the throne??
It's good that Braen and Jean finally worked on their feelings on each other, but then again too easy. And that scene where General Kalen told them to get ready to war in an hour and these two spent it... making out. Hello??? There was dark force with dragon out there about to attack!?!?
Better than #book1 but less convincing than #book2. 2.3stars
